Anybody without 6 weeks of emergency fund probably doesn't belong in the gene pool.

I know that sounds fascist, but I didn't choose this world.

Seriously, anyone who has been deemed "non-essential" in this should think very seriously about that, who do you think they are going to choose to keep when the culling comes?
Since companies are people I agree 1000%: Any company without 6 weeks of reserves deserves to close immediately and be bought by people who are smarter.

"According to Chinese authorities, the virus in question can cause severe illness in some patients and does not transmit readily between people."
"WHO does not recommend any specific measures for travellers. WHO advises against the application of any travel or trade restrictions on China based on the information currently available.
Yup. Years of denying reality, listening to endless bullshit generators spewing garbage, following religious "leaders", and electing/appointing representatives who believe that reality is subjective and malleable like clay has led to a real 14 karat shitstorm, hasn't it?

Just drive the steam engine into the tunnel. Reality will bend to your will.....

The question is what are we going to do about it? Deny more? Hide it a bit deeper? Double down?

Observing $6,375 & eating lots of junk food at home, self isolating. Just had my gardener do 3 hours of work, he’s probably not supposed to be working but fuck if I’m expected to garden, no thanks.
gardening is actually pretty relaxing, and good for your health too. you're basically paying people to have fun and exercise.
It can be. I'm going to grab a bunch of tomato plants and fire up a small garden for spring/summer. Big problem is bunnies but I have the pellet gun and will have license to shoot for rabbit meat as needed.

Problem now is it's *WET* which means I can't hitch up the tiller till it dries out a bit. However I do have tons of well composted leaves so this could work this year....

I think the point is we didn't know this was a thing before January. Now that we know, we can better prepare for it. Right now its spreading like wildfire, and we need to contain the spread as it is already overwhelming healthcare infrastructures worldwide.

Want to be clear here: We knew this was coming. We had dress rehearsals with SARS, MERS, and H5N1. We knew what needed to be done. We just decided not to listen, and not to prepare.

This is the logical outcome.

Sorry, but I believe strongly that Reality exists and facing one's errors is critical to ensuring they don't happen again. The problem isn't that "we didn't know" the problem is people willingly choose to ignore facts.

The key for me here in Panama is not if I will run out of food, but that the many poor people nearby will run out of food. Then they will go searching. They already rioted in one town and cleared out a local grocery store. My friend was told at his building for everyone to park their cars in the parking garage at his building because thieves are breaking into cars.

Fortunately I was preparing for Thai hitmen to come so I am prepared. I may have to change my sleep schedule though.
Hm. Partner with the poor people and turn them into your own private army?
1266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 29, 2020, 03:33:35 PM
I really don't think America can afford another pandemic. Our financial system is way too fucked. Every time there's a disaster we have to throw trillions of dollars at the corporate elite in hopes they won't decide to shut down the world economy?

Yep. When you can print infinite amounts of money then you can keep doing this till people have no faith in your "money". That seems to take awhile, however I wonder if it will collide with the political reality unfolding these days. Will be interesting to watch.

Quote
Its really a hostage-taking situation being negotiated between big business and the Federal Reserve, where America is the hostage, and if the feds don't dole out $500 billion (1/4 of the total $2 trillion package) to big business, they just shut everything down. It is another bailout for people who made greedy choices, fucked themselves, and the rest of the country along with them.
Yep. And they will lay people off/use the money to boost stock anyway. No surprise there.

I am getting my hands on as much bitcoin as I can.
Reasonable move. My guess is if this continues at some point people with bitcoin will be tortured or "encouraged" to turn over their "wealth". But what really matters is not wealth but your ability to keep propping up the system till the last second. As a slave when it becomes time for that.

First tiny whiff of this is ex-army doctors being called up again to serve the President. Sure it's totally for a great cause and everything but isn't that just papering over the decisions made a few years ago to defund pandemic response and to put this whole thing in the hands of complete idiots from December-March? Isn't that just a way to make people not pay for their mistakes by forcing others to respond?

Ok, maybe second tiny whiff. First one was not learning one fucking lesson from 2008 other than don't worry about preparing for anything, someone else will be tapped to bail you out instead of you having to prepare yourself.

What do you think the response will be for the next disaster? Think they will change their ways? Get out of the way and let intelligent people run things?

Hm.

Might want to think about learning how to hide ability as well as bitcoin.

Interesting thing about this virus: When it's over, will you go back to normal?

God, you all are going on about the finer points of gin, and here I am chugging fireball.....

(Yukon Jack is tasty as well)

Things are fine here: Been running without outside contact for 2 weeks as a test, just went out and restocked the food stores. Should be fine for a month or so. Still it's interesting to see the kinds of people in stores. Most keep away, but there is always one old guy going "everything's fine I'll try to stand next to you" and one dumb gaggle of fucks who have no clue what's going on.

Wish the latter two groups would just die already. Will venture out again in 2 weeks.
1270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 27, 2020, 11:40:27 PM
The media manipulation throughout this whole thing has been ridiculous. What ever happened to "you can't shout 'fire' in a crowded theater"?

What will be the way forward to stop this crap? How do we decentralize the media and encourage truth instead of hype?

And Pilate said:
What is Truth?

We just haven't gotten our $1200 TrumpBucks yet. I'm wondering if the Bitcoin ATM down the street is going to have any space for the money to go. That's my concern.

(Note: Oddly enough I have never bought a bitpenny in my life. Aside from the stuff I bought back from the kids after paying them in btc for chores I've earned every satoshi the old fashioned way. Since this money is not something I really want I think it's ok for me to buy bitcoin with it out of spite)

Meanwhile who is screwing with bitcoin keeping it at 6,666?

Summoning a demon?

I think the NHS is also down a lot of money thanks to Brexit.

Hm. Wonder when the horde of diseased refugees will try to invade Ireland. They may need a wall.
1274  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 27, 2020, 01:47:31 PM
Given the incredibly malleable nature of men this is a distinct possibility regardless of how it turns out.
1275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 27, 2020, 01:11:51 PM
Hm. I wonder how much alcohol an addict would need per day to not die of DT. One could get a couple of gallons of grain, and just spike water, soda, beer, whatever to keep the shakes away.

Really really *REALLY* glad I missed the alcoholic gene. Dad's got it, Grandma had it (but only drank beer), cousins have it, sister has it (blew a .28 once and was still "fine"), I really do not seem to have it.

Meantime, this explains a lot....

Well, it does look like political pull *does* have a limit:

Cruise lines get nothing from the US bailout.

Good. The Fuckers can see if they can get a bailout from Liberia.

It makes sense. How were they expecting a bailout from US if they pay their taxes in other places? THAT would make no sense. In fact I don't even think the cruise lines were expecting anything... It's probably just a Trump argument to "show" how "tough" he is... Maybe next he will say there will be no airdrop for other countries citizens.

Political pull. "Friends in high places". Old people love cruises. President of Carnival is good friend of President. That sort of thing.

Brrr, money to everyone.
Desperately seeking inflation since 2008, In the HOPE to create hyperinflation.
The problem of inflation in reality is another one:  slowly at start, then all of a sudden.
That link points to a moron: "Move your money to another country". Like they are any better.

He obviously had no clue about Bitcoin. Comeon man it was 2014!!!

You don't want to know what i did to sapphire, and what it did to me.
In the gnarliest times of my life, it was my mouthwash. kind of. And it did very well, especially with more than a hand full of different tonic waters. all night long and beyond  Grin

Good nite people,
Looking at $6.837, when i lay down the book and turn off the lights.

I've got about 10 gallons of 198 proof Everclear here in the bunker. Gotta cut the stuff with fireball, mixes pretty well....
