edit: speaking for myself obviously. where and why lightfoot got his is his business.
No problem: It's just a part of disaster preparedness, I picked them up a few years ago and have rotated filters (which do have a very long shelf life if kept dry). That said, I will readily admit error and I assumed we would be facing a nuclear threat (low order dirty bomb crap) which would have a half life of a few months tops. I did neglect to think about a pandemic lasting > 3-4 months because I assumed we would have a functioning government.

Boy was I fucking wrong there....

Thus I did not put aside enough replacement filter packs for myself and another traveler. So far the filters I have are holding out well (partially because there is not a lot of radioactive dust swirling from the burning buildings) so I might be ok. If not I will have to improvise.

No.
Ok.

It's not a matter of being selfish.
It's a matter of spreading unnecessary fear, FOR NOTHING.
Pretty much every study and over 100,000 dead people in the US disagrees with your second assertion. Unless you can quote peer reviewed studies (impact factor >3 please) which show that this is "a matter of spreading unnecessary fear" and wearing masks has no impact (for nothing) then this is your opinion and not fact.

I'm fine with people having their own opinions, but when they clash this hard with objective reality I'd have to assume they are either completely ignorant or actively malicious.

Quote
Also it's my fucking right not to be afraid, without dick-fuck-pussies telling me what to do.

That's a much better argument. I'd still assert that you are ignorant of the studies above or misinformed, but if not then it sounds like you're a selfish dickhead who wants to do what he wants to do. Not a problem, do not wear a mask and people can choose to stay away from you and deny you access to their property and persons.

I'd check with Arrie though to see if this is bad or not.

P100 in public?  I imagine you get some looks.
Yep. Women literally ovulate when they see me because they know I'm a good provider and would be great for offspring. Sadly I have been snipped so that don't work.

However it's actually quite comfortable with dual filters rated P100, a very nice gel/soft fit against the face and straps for around the neck and a head harness for the top. Designed to be worn all day for asbestos and lead removal, nice stuff. For nuclear you can pull and replace the filters hot so you don't have to worry about leaving the main unit outside, just the filters that you can snap on when needed.

Ok, but to be serious, don't you think that reading this news it could help milions of real covidiots (pictured bellow) who believes that some scientists or medical experts couldn't be simply corrupted (or simply stupid enough) and spread lies as regular propagandists do?

They really wear this mask to protect themselves from virus killer  Grin

The documentation on that box is correct: Cloth masks do not effectively prevent the wearer from getting a virus (I think it's a 20-30% reduction in risk). What they do is prevent the SPREADING of viruses to other people (and they do this very well, >95%).

This is why people who are selfish dick-fucks do not wear masks: Why protect or assist anyone else, I am only concerned about NUMERO UNO! Fortunately not wearing a mask is easy to spot, flags you as that kind of person, and lets people know to stay very far away from you and prevent you from entering their property as necessary.

This is also why I wear a P100 respirator when in close contact with others: It protects others *and* protects me from scumbags who don't wear masks. Unfortunately they are in very limited supply which is why we do option 2 (everyone wears lesser masks).

Make sense?

That said, the US is nowhere near a civil war. Currently we are at the boring stage of riot. If this lasts a few months it will become a "civil insurrection". Civil war is at least 6-8 months down the road....

yeah im with this guy. the asteroid strike is scheduled next anyway.

Not even if white supremacist groups start wreaking havoc on blacks as a response?
That's just a race war, boring. Religious wars are more interesting but still not at insurrection levels.
1066  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 01, 2020, 01:18:33 PM
Amazing how MSM and so called social media shut up and no longer screams about Covidiots who are braking all social distance rules, rioting and clashing with police since few days in US.
It's really fucking amazing.

But that's how mass propaganda implodes under weight of it's own tons bullshit mass.
People need to wakeup.

https://off-guardian.org/2020/05/31/the-george-floyd-protests-20-unanswered-questions/
Well, they seem to be wearing masks, which is good. Although the 6 foot rules should be maintained whenever possible I agree: This is a real fucking mess.

Fortunately MainStream media is reporting this.

Quote
As nationwide protests sparked by the death of a black man in police custody stretched into their sixth day, current and former government officials warned Sunday that the mass demonstrations could lead to new waves of coronavirus infections.

“There’s going to be a lot of issues coming out of what’s happened in the last week, but one of them is going to be that chains of transmission will have become lit from these gatherings,” former Food and Drug Administration commissioner Scott Gottlieb said in an interview on CBS News’s “Face the Nation."

From Lamestream media head, WaPo.

I am a little more worried about this: Photo from Florida, where they launched the Space-X rocket. I count fewer masks and more people here than at the average riot.

Edit 2: I like how the exact center of focus of this wide angle picture is the woman in black's impressive boobs.....

So, I guess he was destined to just drop dead that day, regardless of the cops actions, then?

The movie Repo Man put it best: "A lattice of coincidence...."

Yeah agreed. I've decided to write off this year as a traditional "this is the path you have been on" and instead think of it as a year to do very different things. Fix old stuff, complete older projects, get some time away from the office type grind and think about what is really important.

Also it's kind of nice because years can just run together when everything is good, then you fail to notice the passing of time and you get old. Like Adam Sandler on Click.

This year.... Man, this year is passing slowly and is like ramming into a brick wall. No fast forward here, every day is a new adventure and every month is a new disaster.

So there's that....
1069  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 01, 2020, 01:46:20 AM
Unless I've got you wrong, I believe that was sarcasm. Removing guns from both sides does nothing more than change the weapon in a dispute,  I mean recently a guy used his knee and another guy recited his rights until officers submitted.

Yes, the service police are supposed to provide is essential. Maybe we need to strip the powers of the police down to that of firefighters and EMT's,  Nice sterotype on EMT's, just made the connection now, haha.   Cameras and fines can handle highway patrol more efficiently and soon we'll be into self driving cars really making the Fuzz redundant on highways.

Actually I was not being sarcastic and I agree that we need to do something with the police culture. When I get pulled over they go "wow cool car, what's under the hood" which is human and all that but not quite appropriate.

I will not give up my car to a self driving thing. No, driving will just have to die out.

(Yes, I know several EMTs. They are junkies for excitement)
1070  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 11:53:46 PM
With no more cops and no more guns, I'm told that it'll become an amazing utopia of peace and tranquility. That the criminals, gangs, & drug dealers will go outside, join hands with law-abiding citizens, and sing Kumbaya together. It'll be amazing, you'll see!

(Or, y'know, it'll become a fucking Mad Max apocalyptic hell hole within 48 hours)

There is some evidence backing torque's assertion: When cops were pulled from highways due to Covid19, deaths per mile went way up. Along with speeds including the 140mph cruise runs by yours truly. I really thought with less people on the road people would drive at speeds which were inherently safe. I was seriously wrong and now cruise at a sluggy 70mph.

So yeah, cops are necessary. Question is how do you keep them from being psychopaths? I mean firefighters aren't psychopaths. EMTs aren't psycho--no wait, they are pretty weird adrenaline junkies.

Ok you can join Roach and Ibian on ignore.
Yeah, he wound up in my oubliette too. I hate putting people on ignore but it does make the thread much easier to read.

An autopsy report talks about "potential intoxicants"?

just might possibly be really bad wording for 'awaiting toxicology results that might show any intoxicants'.
Because let's face it: Black people are full of various drugs.

Although they should have put "gravitational effects from Jupiter may have contributed to his death as well. Happens, I'm sure.
1073  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 08:41:04 PM
Haha are you going to quote MSNBC for your next “fact”?
Well, the weird part is the President has no authority to declare a domestic group a "terrorist" group.

But hey, who cares.
1074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 05:20:52 PM
Side thought: I figured it was a good time to look at status based on my various survival scenarios. I expected one or two of them, but to be honest I wasn't expecting an economic collapse during a pandemic with riots, oppressive government, and a race war along with an impeached president and of course murder hornets.

This is really stretching my normal planning to the limits. Do you deploy a shotgun for the looting intruder, flamethrower for the rat pack rioters, or the 1919 machine gun for the murder hornets. Is there a practical difference at this point?

So what else do we have here in the list:
  • Nuclear winter
  • Earthquakes, Storms and blizzards
  • Avalanches
  • Volcanoes
  • Religious war
  • Food wars
  • Insurrection and nation break-up
  • Coup d’Etat
  • Alien invasion

I'm not even thinking about ecological disaster or weather wars at this point. But we still have 6 months left in the year to go. Wonder which one will be next...

Then again it is a nice day outside. Fuck it, will party instead.
1075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 04:54:25 PM
Are we really going to sit here and justify the actions of the looters? Who do they think will pay for all of that destruction? The wealthy elites, or the poor tax payers?

Given this country is giving away trillions to companies with no oversight, I don't think the "pay for all the destruction" thing really rings valid anymore.
1076  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 04:01:02 PM
Like I said, when the people choose senseless looting and rioting over meaningful peaceful protest, this is what happens.

Blacks did meaningful, peaceful protests. Sports people would kneel during a crappy song and white people went berserk. That's about the least violent, least noisy, least impactful thing you could do and it got rebukes from the President on down.

The truth is they don't want black people to protest at all, just shut the fuck up, take it, and do their jobs.

That's reality. This is where it leads.
1077  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 03:57:53 PM

No white people in America usually only riot for good reasons. Like their football team losing.
Europeans riot over football matches.
There are essentially no riots in America over athletic competitions.  Perhaps you can find a single obscure example of such a riot somewhere, but I'll say it again:  we don't riot over football matches.
This is one respect in which people in the U.S. have their heads screwed on straighter than people elsewhere do.
Rioting over race killings is another matter.

You never lived in Detroit, did you?
1078  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 31, 2020, 03:57:01 PM
No no no, those are cops. It even says "POLICE" across their jackets. I don't know who owns the armored vehicle tho -- that looks like National Guard to me. It was in Minneapolis, so could have been.

I had a friend who was an MP. We talked about cops in the military and he said they were less than useless. Reason being:

If you see a guy running with a TV set and you tell a cop "stop that man" the cop will run out, tackle the person, and stop them.
If you see a guy running with a TV set and you tell a soldier "stop that man" the soldier will lift his rifle, aim, and fire.

It's training. This is what you do. Thus a cop is useless in a battle because their training is to subdue and not kill. And a MP is not what you want to police civilians because their training is shoot to kill, end of story.

Something tells me that things have changed a bit in the last 20 years.
