I remember as a child stepping on a apparent ground nest of either large wild bees or hornets deep in the woods, then I saw them crawling outta there and starting to get airborne.
I ran like a wind...and escaped. It only takes a few dozen bites to bring you down, I think.
Years ago I was working in the yard sucking leaves with my leaf vacuum. Heard a buzzing and realized I hit a yellow jacket nest in the ground. As they started to come up I thought about running then realized who I was: Top predator. So I started sucking them up and put the nozzle over their nest hole. The noises made by the impeller in the next few minutes were.... interesting but when it stopped there was not a yellow jacket to be seen and I had a quiet summer.....

Haven't you heard? The asteroid (or has it already flown by?)  Grin
I thought it was the Japanese hornets. But if you've seen Melancholia you know that asteroid will be back....

Hm. If a miner wanted to, it would be trivial for them to return the fees to the wallets of the transactions in their block. Totally voluntary of course, but could be done. Thus mine a block, return the fees.

To all hodlers, and Mindrust, a 2.5 minute message from Warren Buffett during yesterday's Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder Meeting:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/69rm13iUUgE?start=11600&end=11756
Reasonable: If you don't know what you're doing don't do it.

I converted about 10% of my retirement holdings to mutual funds/cash on Thursday. Logic being I was 100% into stocks and bonds, and I wanted to have some cash either to tide me through if jobs and such blew up or to buy dips in the market. Market has come back way too much right now, so a good time to sell. Took most of that from real estate as I can't see why anyone would have an office anymore since remote work is going so damn well....

That plus some bitcoin proceeds and such should keep me running for about 5 years without worry.

The other 90% I'll leave as is because I really don't need it. A lot is in overseas funds because I think they will recover sooner than the retards in the US. Will check back in 5 years or so.

Weird times. Wonder what will be next.

rifle butt to the face

then put the boots to 'em
Interesting thought: I could rig the flamethrower to shoot a 5 foot burst. That could work really well if I had to travel to say Florida: I was both following the law, enforcing the law, and standing my ground.

Hm......

Here is a real life situation for you...
Was standing in front of a window to deposit something (came out for the first time in a few days, apart from walking around)
The 'tard to the left (not a protestor) had his mask hanging at his belt while loudly proclaiming something...
I had some cheap mask on (as the pic said, potentially just 30% protection).
Did not pay much attention...but today have scratchy throat..took some vits, we shall see.

The question is: if someone mouth something close to you while having no PPE, what to do? Do I politely tell him to STFU, or do I tell him/her to move away or be silent (if retreat is not possible).
Or do i simply think positive thoughts?
Choices, choices.

Another choice are homeless, which are dime and dozen at the intersections.
As we know, at least half of them are infected.
Do I help a fellow man in a calamity or do I drive away, windows closed, AC turned on inside only?
What a bummer.

maybe will buy a chunk of btc...just in case.
*sigh*

P100 respirator. Yes they look a bit silly (not so much anymore) but they do provide real 100% protection on particles down to .3 microns which includes this virus. And asbestos. I wear one when shopping as does the wife because if I come across a mouth breather like Pence I can be certain I will not die due to his stupidity.

Problem now is I have a limited supply of replacement cartridges. Yes the ones in the units are fine (and I only wear them around people) but when I was planning I was thinking NBC which would have a much lower half life problem then a stupid virus. On the positive side I have a huge stupid HEPA air filter here in the house I can cut up to make new filters for the cartridges.

I can see why the "Christian" dominionists would complain about wearing masks and distancing: Their idea of a proper apocalypse is for people to all turn on each other, ripping and rending so they can come out on "top" and be "in charge". People cooperating and helping each other screws that whole model up.

Explains why Trump and Pence don't wear masks: Why should they, it doesn't help them much at all to wear one.

Comparing COVID-19 to the seasonal flu is not useful. Flu season is pretty much over. The SARS-CoV-2 virus, depending on the study, is about 2.5 times as infectious as the flu, has a much higher mortality rate and most important there is no vaccine. The MOBS model from the Network Science Institute at Northeastern University projections for May 1, 2020 estimates that there will be about 89,000 deaths in the US by mid-May if stay-at-home orders remain in place. Deaths will be much higher if distancing is relaxed.
True, but it seems to take about two weeks of agony to die of this thing and a 2 week incubation window. So expect those freedom fries (fighters) to start dropping by the end of May.

That's why we need to hold China responsible for the $10 Trillion or so in damages they've caused the US alone.
Nope. They're responsible for the initial amount of people who came over here and should pay those people in full. Our Glorious Leader is fully responsible for hiding the damage, ,malfeasance, and lying for 2 months. That's where the big money is, and enslavement will be needed for many generations to cover that one....

Just like sources of pollution used to be tracked and the polluters sued. An industry of pollution detectives were just starting to spring up when the industrial age was just beginning. Fearing a total shutdown of the economy corporations worked with the government to create the EPA which protected the polluters in exchange for some superficial regulations and payoffs.

If we could track the spread of diseases and hold those people responsible accountable we could stop disease.

I mean...we know the 4 or so people that brought it to the US right? So they say. Start with them.
Oddly enough, yes. The big problem you run into though is those 4 people would be liable for 10 trillion in damages, or more properly for the infections that they wrought on others who then would be liable for others.... See now that we know the people and the vectors we can assign fines to morons who take stupid risks.

The problem though still remains that people can take on more risk then they can ever hope to pay out in their miserable lives. Thus you need a sort of holding company that will pay the debt, and then take ownership of the person and their heirs to pay the debt off. Has to be multi-generation because the loan has to be paid. And oddly enough it provides an incentive for these slaves (for they are slaves until the debt is paid) to be the best they can be not so they can be free but that someday their heirs will be free.

The holding company (which we can call the "state") could then sell a percentage of these slaves to private holders, all reported in a blockchain. You and I could then buy a slave, a percentage of the output of the slave, or possibly one of the slaves' children.

It gets interesting when you think about it. The real fun comes when slaves own percentages of other slaves and everyone is enslaved to everyone else.

"the Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis"

Some state and local legislators are about to get served.

Like most of Trump's crap this will probably be tossed. The Supreme Court has ruled in the past that pandemics do allow suspension of liberties for people spreading disease. See Mary, Typhoid.

That said, I would be ok with removing that if and only if these people could be sued directly for any deaths they may cause with penalties being paid by them and their heirs until such time as full restitution is achieved. All debits and credits tracked of course on a distributed transaction ledger through the ages....

That's the true Libertarian way (you have 100% responsibility for you actions along with the 100% freedom to act)

The pictures I saw of these brutes were scarier.
(Cut image of total losers. Bring fucking shotguns you morons! Assault rifles are damn near useless.

The funny part is there are consequences now for their actions. Nature doesn't give either a shit or pardons.

Might I suggest the season 0 Episide 1 The Tiger King and I. Undecided
Just finished the whole series yesterday and now question humanity.
Over the weekend I re-watched season 1 of the Anna Nicole Smith show. Two thoughts:

1) It is the most honest, truthful, and authentic thing I have seen on TV.
2) She is fucking huge. God I'd love a woman like that.

By Season 2 she had caught onto the cameras, but in season 1 they had no idea what they were doing. Pure magic.

so heres something i didnt expect.

a 1200 stimulus check was issued to a dead family member that im executor of the estate of.

it went direct deposit to the estate bank account thats in my name as im the executor. since thats me the letter that told me of the 1200 went to me.

im not even sure what to make of that.

edit that person died over a year ago. and all relevant authorities were notified immediately (irs, ssa etc)
Return it. Not going to help the person, and is the right thing to do.

Coming up on 9200. 9,000 is so boring....

I wonder if we will get stuck at 14,000 which is about double of 7k and makes sense if we're halving the reward. Hm.

The healthiest response is to accept that it's here and get on with life.

Ah yes. "I made a bad mistake and now you should pay for it". The calling card of a true looter.
