201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Digibyte (DGB) have worth to invest ? on: April 25, 2019, 03:40:22 AM
DGB is a very interesting and well known project. Sometimes it starts a PUMP and many people who have already profited from the project return to invest. It may be that at some point it grows again. Since it's a quick and cheap coin.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: April 25, 2019, 03:36:48 AM
If you say so. Roll Eyes

Sad, but true.

The only chance Grin would hold any value would be a drastic decrease in the miners. And with a quick adoption of the dark web. But it's so complicated to use the wallet, so I think it's unlikely.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 81% and 102 % profits in 3-4 weeks (Screens, informations) on: April 25, 2019, 03:30:12 AM
Your initial observation did not seem like a big deal to me. But this negotiation with KCS-Kucoin Shares is a bit more interesting. Except we're in a very volatile week. So even people who traded, throwing dice may have made big profits.
204  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto binary options on: April 25, 2019, 03:22:52 AM
This is not trading. This is just a game of luck. There are several sites that offer this option, most of which induces users to believe that they are investing in something. But the truth is that these sites work as a casino. In order to take everything, you put into the account.
205  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-20]Coinbase Launches Crypto-to-Crypto Trading Services in 11 Countries on: April 25, 2019, 02:57:11 AM
I never understood very well why they restricted the crypto crypto trade in other countries. I believe that the competition they will bring will be beneficial to the market. They are quite professional and do not seem to have problems that are common in other exchanges.

But what I would like them to make available in my country is the trade fiat-crypto
206  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Over the Counter (OTC) Cryptocurrency Trading - Explained in Details. on: April 24, 2019, 03:12:56 AM
I think there are many advantages of buying bitcoin through over-the-counter trading desk such as:

 - Full anonymity of the buyer.
 - Buy a huge amount of bitcoin at the same price
 - The risk of getting hacked is almost zero compared to the exchanges.
 - Instant purchase, there is no placing orders and wait for the price to fall before you can buy.
 - The best thing about over-the-counter trading desk is you can always have a peace of mind in terms of security and price volatility.

Though the bitcoin price is a little bit high at OTCs, but you can get the advantage of buying a huge amount of bitcoins at the same price with no volatility.
The over-the-counter trading desks help a lot in tackling the bitcoin price volatility. Imagine, the whales buying 200,000 bitcoins on the exchanges, uhh! Grin

  • I disagree with your points. At no time is anonymity guaranteed. On many occasions the exact opposite is required.
  • Often the purchase is broken into several price ranges. Particularly when the market is unstable.
  • The risk of being hacked is as great as in any other negotiation. Since the biggest risk is always on your own computer.
  • There is no instant purchase on the OTC. In fact, the negotiations are much more complex and involve a long conversation
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every Cryptocurrency Can Be Hacked in Just a Few Seconds on: April 24, 2019, 02:50:52 AM
By the time Bitcoin can be hacked, other passwords and logins will have been hacked much earlier. That is, if one day is possible, all the internet and the system of logins in websites, emails, banks etc would have been changed.

And we would have several other implications on thousands of systems. But the advantage of bitcoin is that it is an open source project with thousands of contributors and stakeholders. It is not a closed company. Then an innovative change will be created when there is, in fact, such a risk.

“Most time, there are cases of funding budget padding,” said Adefemi Yusuff Adegoke, a prolific writer. “A project that can be executed with $180k funding budget can be padded up to $450k. And they won’t report the total amount realized during ICO.”

“Most of the fraud are in the miscellaneous  part of the budget,” he added. “Those ones go directly into the pockets of the CEO and CTO.”

Interesting article about what happens in the construction of the white papers and all that fraudulent industry that was created with the ICO. Many of them with no function or purpose.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Civic Inks Deal to Bring Blockchain ID to 1,000 Vending Machines on: April 23, 2019, 11:00:12 PM
It started with selling beer, but age verification could crack open a whole industry to cryptocurrency.

CoinDesk previously reported on the demonstration of Civic’s beer-selling machinery at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW). Now the company is announcing partnerships with 12 major automated retail companies – AAEON, AR Systems, Fastcorp Vending, Global Vending Group, greenbox Robotics, Invenda, IVM, IVS, Retail Automated Concepts, SandenVendo, The-Venders and Wemp – to bring similar technology to the masses.

“Vending machines represent an introduction to the mass market, where people can see how digital identity functions in the real world, as well as opening up an entirely new market for automated retail,” CEO Vinny Lingham said in a statement.

The 12 partners control more than a million internet-connected vending machines, according to Civic. The identity startup expects the technology to be used in 1,000 machines by the end of 2019.

For users, verification will rely on document scans (of a driver’s license, in most cases) to confirm age and identity as the rollout takes place. Civic’s demo at SXSW had previously used “knowledge-based authentication,” that is, a series of questions only one person would be likely to correctly answer. This form will continue to be an option for vendors who prefer it, according to a spokesperson.

Stablecoin solution
Lingham told CoinDesk the company expects to use Gemini’s GUSD in the Civic Pay app (and perhaps others, later).

Stablecoins don’t have the volatility of other cryptocurrencies (such as Civic’s own CVC token), so when customers buy something through the Civic Pay app, they will most likely use GUSD (purchased through Civic) to pay for it. Participating merchants will receive the stablecoin and a much lower transaction fee.

“For non-age-gated products, the vending machine industry is dying for a cheaper, faster transaction,” Lingham told CoinDesk. “They can save 80–90 percent on transaction fees.”

For its part, Civic may still pay credit card fees but it faces a lower chargeback risk because the app has already verified the identity of the user.

“Our risks are substantially lower than a vendor taking a credit card transaction,” Lingham said.

Civic declined to disclose a timeline for stablecoin deployment on the app.

Beyond beer
Tobacco, alcohol and hemp-related products will establish Civic’s beachhead in the automated retail sector, Lingham told CoinDesk.

Beyond that, the advantages of using Civic Pay to dodge transaction fees could push the app into other categories. However, Lingham also highlighted another area that the company hopes to move into: pharmaceuticals.

While not necessarily age-gated, there are a variety of products that many users need frequently (for example, asthma medication, insulin or prescription antihistamines) that require identity verification. Today, this is done by visiting a pharmacy counter, but Lingham says Civic is in talks to bring its technology to this vertical, though the timeline is much further out.

“This is where it’s going. It’s not there yet,” Lingham said.

Civic will be demoing its application at the National Automated Merchandising Association’s NAMA Show in Las Vegas from April 24–26.

“The vending machine market is flourishing and being the first to adopt industry-changing technology is critical to providing the best user experience,” Mike Weiser, SandenVendo’s CEO and president, said in a statement. According to the company, it controls over 800,000 machines.

I still can not fully understand the investment in civic as token. But it seems that they can turn into a great company offering these simple and quick solutions.
210  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-22]American bitcoin trader may face death penalty over 'sea home' on: April 23, 2019, 10:36:46 PM
I'm reading elsewhere that Elwar claims the seastead is 14 nautical miles offshore and therefore in international waters. Some sources are saying Thai authorities are claiming it is only 12 nautical miles offshore and therefore under their jurisdiction, whereas others are saying they accept it is outwith the 12 mile zone, but anything within the 200 miles economic zone is fair game. Regardless of the legalities of it, this is a real shame and a massive overreaction by Thailand.

Here's hoping they both get out safely. There is zero chance Thailand tries to execute a US citizen for something like this, though.

I hope he gets the support of big international organizations and big firms specializing in such disputes. Having a clearer definition of the legality of this type of enterprise could be revolutionary. But unfortunately, without a country offering support, I find it unlikely that it will be able to get representation in the major international bodies.

Peter Briger was responsible for the recommendation. He is CEO of Fortress Investment Group. Which invests in companies such as Pantera Capital, Xapo among others. I believe that this news is not completely complete. I believe he has invested in companies and funds, not just Bitcoin. And eventually, it will recover the investment, even losing money buying at ATH and selling soon after.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan to Provide G20 With Solution for Crypto Regulation on: April 23, 2019, 02:58:07 PM
I believe that disassociating the bitcoin with terrorism and money laundering is the best thing that can be done. Governments will try to hamper transactions using Bitcoin if it is widely used for these two options.

I want to use cryptocurrencies in my day to day. And I have no intention of laundering money or financing terrorism with the cryptocurrencies I own. Cryptocurrencies are superior to fiat and current credit card companies. Society needs to recognize this before politicians try to associate this technology with illegal activities.
213  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Has anyone successfully used really high leverage or is that just gambling? on: April 23, 2019, 02:10:31 PM
I believe that the only opportunity to use 100x is if some very big shit happens and you know the exact minute it happened. You will always have at least a variation of 5% to 15% in a matter of minutes.

Short 100x, take profit and quit.

A pirate’s life ain’t all that it’s cracked up to be: A bitcoin couple is sought by Thai authorities after trying to make a lawless, tax-free home on the sea outside Phuket island. If convicted, the duo face a potential death penalty for violating Thailand’s sovereignty.

But Chad Elwartowski, a US citizen, and his Thai girlfriend, Supranee “Nadia Summergirl” Thepdet, had already fled the offshore cabin by the time Thai navy personnel arrived at it today (April 20).

“I was free for a moment. Probably the freest person in the world,” Elwartowski posted later on Facebook.

The duo said the cabin, built by an outfit called Ocean Builders, was floating in international waters and therefore without jurisdiction.

Thailand, however, said the structure threatened its sovereignty and plans to tow it to shore. It also revoked Elwartowski’s visa.

The cabin was situated within Thailand’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ), but not its territorial sea. (Here’s the location on Google Maps.) Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (pdf), to which Thailand is a party, an EEZ extends 200 nautical miles from a nation’s coastline. Within it, a state has exclusive rights to natural resources such as fish and oil but does not have full sovereignty. It does have the latter within its territorial waters, which extend out 12 nautical miles from the shore.

Couple Uses Bitcoin Wealth to Build World’s First Seastead

The Thai government was extremely authoritarian. Unfortunately, the first seastead did not work very well. But I hope this legal issue is resolved and he can continue with his dream.

217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there is no hard fork, will the real value of Bitcoin be higher now or lower on: April 22, 2019, 10:52:19 PM
Many people consider that if there were no altcoins and forks, all the dollars that went into the market would be invested in bitcoin. But if only Bitcoins existed, a lot of people would never get involved with the market.

Forks should serve to test theories, test different ways of solving a problem. Bitcoin Cash has been testing the theory of larger blocks, for example. If the forks did not exist, the conflict between different groups could annihilate the bitcoin.

So I believe that forks increase the price of bitcoin. Allowing stupid people to simply make a fork and test their ideas instead of complaining about bitcoin forever.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think should happen with @bitcoin handle on Twitter? on: April 22, 2019, 09:37:02 PM
The big problem is to want an account, a nickname, an url to represent something official related to Bitcoin. This is to induce those who do not know the project to error. Bitcoin is a decentralized project without a CEO. If you want to use or participate, you are responsible for verifying the truth of all information disclosed. Never trust, always verify.
219  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-21] Brazil: Highest Inflation in 4 Years Propels Bitcoin Volume to Reco on: April 22, 2019, 08:28:58 PM
This is not correct. What happens is that we have in Brazil an exchange that has a huge volume of fake negotiations. This is always debated in the main Brazilian bitcoin groups. No one believes in this volume.

Bitcoin is still a marginalized product in Brazil. Many people associate Bitcoin with Ponzi schemes and the use in commerce is minimal.
220  Local / Brasil / Re: PM localiza mineradora de Bitcoins do PCC on: April 22, 2019, 07:24:44 PM
