Maybe it's news from the past few weeks? Perhaps people finally have their accounts funded and ready. Or an increase in demand from deals made at last weekends conference in Amsterdam?
Mhmmm... There really hasn't been any innovations at Bitcoin 2014. I expect Coindesks article to tell us the reason.

It was obviously going to go up, but I did not expect it to spike so suddenly without any positive news. Going down right now.
When the price rises so quickly there is always corrections along the way. It hit $500 then bounced down a bit but it will pass $500 by the end of the day I believe. Then the same thing will probably happen at $550 and so on. I think so too. By the way, is there an IRC where we people can chat? It should be able to reach at $500 by end of day, it only barely touched it. It's going up again.

Did someone type in the price incorrectly? I suppose it was that, since it's only BitStamp that's this high. BTC-E is at $481.
BTC-E is alwais 10-11$ cheaper. I don't know why. It's a real pain up the arse to get dollars into compared to the other exchanges. That might account for a price difference. Now hope on bitstamp its going to touch 500$ because last time I check its just over 499$ I am very excited about this after long wait this going to happen $491 right now. I hope it does, but now it's dropping. Oh, $489.7 now.

I wrote a batch file to do this for me when I was giving away mining time. Here's an example of the code, just paste it into a batch file and set it up for your pools. Sleep time is in seconds. Note: This can be used with cgminer, vertminer, sgminer or any other command line miner. Just set up the individual batch files and combine them with this single file or execute the miner from this single batch file if you prefer, one or the other not both. taskkill /im cgminer.exe /f echo Starting LTC start ltc.bat OR cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool.whatever.com:3333 -u miner.1 -p x sleep 1800 echo Starting FTC taskkill /im cgminer.exe /f start ftc.bat OR cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool.whatever.com:3333 -u miner.1 -p x sleep 1800 echo Starting DOGE taskkill /im cgminer.exe /f start doge.bat OR cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool.whatever.com:3333 -u miner.1 -p x sleep 1800 echo Starting 42 taskkill /im cgminer.exe /f start 42.bat OR cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool.whatever.com:3333 -u miner.1 -p x sleep 1800 taskkill /im cgminer.exe /f Hello sir I coudn't use this code . which version of cgminer you check it ? You need to replace the bat names with the names of your bats.

Exactly why we track the 7 major exchanges, this is no "typo"... Hmm... So weird. It seems to be hovering around $495 right now. So weird.

Running linux from a USB is Ok, but make sure that the computer was never online. I thought you meant installing something like Electrum on a Usb and using it when you need to. Do you mean make sure the operating system on the USB stick was never online? If so, I agree. It's OK that the host computer was online as long as you actually boot into the USB stick to use it. No, that's not what I meant. The computer must be offline at all times, no matter what OS. It's not OK that the host computer was online, since, as I said before, there are cross-OS keyloggers too. As long as the USB stick is not plugged into the computer when its main OS is booted, it is safe to go online with that main OS. When the USB stick is booted, the computer's main OS will not affect it unless you mount the device containing the main OS while the USB stick is booted. Wrong. Viruses can be embedded in the BIOS, and will be activated when you turn on your computer.

Yes its very strange because few hours ago as I go to offline its touching 460$ and now suddenly its around 500$ whats going on any update about this
I knew it was going up this morning, I had expected it to go up anyway, but now I'm home and I'm like WTF? Why is the price at 360€? I check BitcoinWisdom and CoinDesk BPI, and it seems like it did spike. Any moment now, Any moment and we get up to $500.

I will be paying with BTC, let me know how many you got.
How much will you pay for one? depends on the quantity. How many do you need?

What's going on? The price just spiked from $469 to $498. Don't see any amazing news, although I have been expecting to go up.

gtraah, read the first part of the OP of this thread please.
Yeh I did, What I am saying is nothing to do with this, I know about those untracked shares etc.... I am using CPUminer for my Grids and Sgminer for my GPUs. What I am checking is the rejected MHs on the poolside compare to the REjected MH/s to the other pools side... Also my Total MH/s is lower by around 1.5mhs on Clever than on waffle, when doing some calculations that 1.5mhs equalls roughly the same percentage of Rejects I am getting with clever.. FOr example If I check my poolside rejects on waffle I will see this 0.5 - 1.80% All the time Some times A LITTLE over... But with clever my rejects on poolside are never this low. Then when I look at the last 24hr average reject rate is always between 5-10% , I never see these rejects with waffle ... Id rather mine here but I am just wondering why this has been always the case PS: My POOLSIDE overall Accepted MH for Waffle is 1.5Mhs Higher than Clever... And this is due to the difference in rejected shares, if you want to see what I am talking about point your miner there just to see the reject differences and the accepted/rejected Mh/s differences. You will see what I am talking about. We all have miners pointed at CleverMining. Also, you must know that pools can only track hashrate based on accepted shares, and it isn't that accurate.

You can mine litecoins, but beware of power consumption if you are mining with GPUs (they are very power hungry)
Will do ... using a calculator, says I would be in the positive?? I just don't know if my hashrate would be the same using GUIMiner for BTC v GUIMiner-scrypt for LTC?? I'll be testing that tonight... Also, looked into PBmining.com - 1000 GH/s = 5.00002120 for 5 years --> that's only ~0.105 BTC per week looking at their list - I don't think the payback is there? EDIT - maybe the payback doesn't look like it's there because "Weekly payouts are scheduled for every Sunday before Midnight ( 24:00 GMT -6 )."? I'll have to check at the end of the week... EDIT2 - lastly if I want to get some more BTC in my wallet, any good recommendations on where to buy some from the USA? A really good exchange that I use is ANXPRO. 0% Trading Fee, and it now also supports SEPA withdrawals.

I'm curious as to why you (as an ASIC provider) need people to buy such a high load. Are you expanding into other territories?
I say because all their products are bought in bitcoin, and they need to convert all that to fiat without dumping a ton on an exchange and affecting the price. I actually wasn't thinking about that, and if this is their reason that's a huge +1 for them. I have a lot of respect for people that want to make their move without decimating the Bitcoin system in the process. I agree. Dumping 1000+ BTC on an exchange with a lower price would make it tumble.
