2764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to explain bitcoin isnt "fake"? on: April 20, 2014, 12:48:16 AM
I've got you all beat:
The ultimate best way to show someone bitcoin has value (and is not fake) is to take them to your mailbox when your silkroad pot arrives. Pull out your pipe right then and let your friend take the first hit. If it's some good shit, then tell your friend you bought it with bitcoin. Maybe then your friend will believe you that bitcoin has value.

No thats more of a way to put a bad spotlight on bitcoins. And not everyone who is involved with bitcoins like to smoke pot. I personally like to be productive, not lazy.
Glad to see someone taking a stand against connecting bitcoins to drugs. Lots of idiots like the guy who posted that crap are part of the reason it's so hard to get people to embrace bitcoins.

He's probably deeply involved in that sort of thing, and that's all he thinks about.
Scum.

Whitecoin has huge confirmation time, it's the explanation that makes most sense.

Agreed, but with 47% of my total expected sitting in unexchanged - I'd like to hear an update from Terk if possible.

Immature:  0.008
Unexchanged:  0.022

It's actually been some time since we heard from him.
Maybe he's just enjoying his easter holidays, give him a day or two.

I know why. It's because the new coins, Whitecoin, Blackcoin, asiacoin and all that aren't on exchanges yet, and maybe he hasn't set up the wallets, so he needs to manually trade the coins.

Blackcoin and whitecoin are both on crypsty at the moment.

That means nothing. Terk maybe hasn't created the wallet for them yet.

You guys aren't alone with the high unexchanged. This is usually because Terk is busy with some testings or fixes, or perhaps because it is East weekend in the U.S.

Either way, profits are looking amazing right now. I'd love for this to keep holding! /fingscrossed

Keep it up Terk! Enjoy your weekend. Hopefully you remember to take some time off now and then Smiley

Aside from all the price fixing discussions, good luck with that, I have a market price question.

If a rig is currently rented should there be a way for customers to bid on the next available time for that rig?  IE customers could bid higher or lower than the current rate on already leased rigs and could offer lower on unleased rigs.    Providers could then accept lower bids if they want and accept the highest bid for renewals which would require less constant price adjustments.

Yes, that is quite a good idea.
However, I think you should remove the "Under Performing" thing, as there is usually a variance of -/+5 kh/s. That makes customers think the rig has problems, and if we put the hashrate lower, we get paid less.

Have you guys been paid? I've already contacted Stunna via PM, still have not received payment :/

Look, Stunna will pay, if you keep sending PMs it will just make it more difficult for him.

It will work. The only other competitor is BetaRigs, whose layout and system is complete crap, and does not offer as many features as leaserig.
What? The competition is just getting ramped up. What about NiceHash? They have a different approach which some folks may like. If you think price-fixing is a good idea, you're no different than any other big-establishment person who colludes with other corporate bullies to rape consumers. I want nothing to do with it.

Consumers drove the price up to where it is right now, not rig owners. If they feel they are getting value from our rigs, they will continue to rent from us at the level where they get value. If you want to compel people to buy your product at your dictated price, get a job in banking or in the government.

This is the opposite of what crypto currencies are all about.

I am not trying to get all the money out of my renters.
You know, we are not leasing out rigs for people to rent and hash at multipools, it's supposed to be for hashing at pools with promotions or coins they see a future in.
If we all just compete with each other for prices, we will all end up earning nothing, just covering electricity costs.

This kind of "union" mentality will never work without an elephant in the room... ie a Govt to enforce a maximum price. As long as people are free to price the rigs at whatever cost they want and there are more than one of them, the customer is basically getting the best deal they can get at that point in time. Its absurd to expect the prices to be more or less the same on a fly swatting day and when White coin, Asia Coin and Quebec coin is launching back to back.

I know that. That's why it's a suggestion.

2774  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Cgminer] connection to pool 0 interrupted (15$ btc bounty) on: April 19, 2014, 06:05:41 PM
Are your settings formatted the way they are shown in your post? Have you tried indenting the lines starting with "failover-only" so that they are in line with the { and } of the pool settings?

The problem is not the pool selection method, it is the connection.
And of course his settings are that way, otherwise why would he post them?

Well based on my experience with cgminer, the formatting is important like every other programming language. Just trying to rule out all possibilities...

The connection can be established, but it drops, so that's the server's problem.
