2941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profit on CPU mining? Best way to do it? on: April 15, 2014, 10:15:21 PM
I have in the room 2x R9 290 and 2x R9 280x so I know what I am talking about Wink
R9 270 will cost about $180 and hashes max 480kH/sec, one Gridseed costs $110 and hashes 360kHs, do the math yourself...

Then your cards seriously have a problem. It should not produce that much excess heat.

Also, may I ask, where can you find a gridseed for $110?

Looks like there's a bunch of Gridseed sellers in the Group Buys section around that pricepoint:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=137.0

Most of them are selling @ around $200 per unit, and atari02, selling at $100, has a MOQ of 5, so that is still $650.

The OP already has a PC, and adding a GPU and maybe changing the PSU is less than $650.

You're going to order multiple anyways if you're going Gridseed(usually 10 or more), so yes the @$100 price point still stands.

Who orders just one Gridseed???  Tongue

I want to, but sadly I cannot find a good deal anywhere.
I've got a rig with one R9 270, and I cannot invest so much money. Gridseeds would be ideal, or I could add more GPUs.
2942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you get into bitcoin? on: April 15, 2014, 09:54:09 PM
I got into bitcoin while I was earning dust on PTC sites. I found an ad of a program named "Rublik", which according to the site "performed calculations for the Bitcoin Network".

It paid users by downloading its software, and it paid by paypal. Just another bitcoin miner, but I found out about bitcoin.
Mined bitcoin at 77MH/s, and deposited onto inputs.io, and lost everything.
Oh well, I miss those days anyway.

I guarantee your failure if you don't listen to what others tell you.

What's wrong with you? Can you read? Huh

Quote
How many bitcoins will I earn with 100 Gh/s miner?
You will mine 0.2143 bitcoins.

Uh.... in what period of time? In a day? A second? A month? My lifetime? The miner's lifetime?

6 month by default.
You can check it here: http://mining-profit.com/advanced-calculator
It's the most popular question. I'll explain it on the website.

I've already answered your question.

I know. The problem is that you don't display that on your site, and people that don't bother clicking the "advanced" link will get confused.

What is the best program, combination of programs to be as safe as possible?
Im using panda antivirus (free cloud version) and search n destroy.
Im tryinging to update/run those programs 1 time / (day or 2 days).

Usually, running more than one antivirus is bad for your system.
Also, this should not be on technical support, this should be off-topic.
2947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profit on CPU mining? Best way to do it? on: April 15, 2014, 02:42:32 PM
Could I make any real world profit if i were to put a Graphics Card on each machine mining something other than Bitcoins?

You probably still could, but You won't be able to live in the room where the cards are running due to heat they produce (unless you have powerful air condition, but that would be double waste of power).

If you really want to try mining, go to Group buys section and find some reseller of Gridseed miner in your area, buy one for roughly 110 bucks and you can start playing. Gridseed miners are basically replacement of Graphics cards for scrypt mining but their power consumption is much lower so they don't produce too much heat. You can have your investment back in app. 5 months but it depends on many factors...

Absolutely not true. Don't listen to this guy, since he has no idea of what he is talking about.
I have a rig, made up of R9 270, which is a good cheap card to start a rig with. They are running overclocked @ 70C, but that does not mean that your whole room will be boiling. In fact, I have it in my living room, and all it does is keep the room a bit warmer at night. Not much of a noticeable difference.
2948  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How accurate are bitcoin calculators? on: April 15, 2014, 02:37:31 PM
Most calculators are pretty crap  Tongue

But not mine! Cheesy
I guarantee accuracy and quality of calculations! Tongue

I guarantee your failure if you don't listen to what others tell you.

I developed mining calculator for a pretty long time Smiley
This is very accurate calculator: mining-profit.com
There is "advanced version" : http://mining-profit.com/advanced-calculator - here you can set all necessary parameters and estimate your profit.
Calculator takes into account Bitcoin difficulty growth.

PS. If you will have any questions, wait few days, I'm working on FAQ page now Wink
Or check this topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=523491

Does anyone have a comprehensive excel file on how these 5 year contracts play out?  Huh

What exactly do you mean by "play out"??
2950  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today is the big day on: April 14, 2014, 11:31:45 PM
All that will happen is that OKCoin will release ATMs, same with BTC China.
That will only make the price go up.
2951  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-04-11 CoinDesk - Chicago Sun-Times Gets 11% of New Subscriptions in Bitcoin on: April 14, 2014, 11:07:13 PM
Bitcoin needs an improved fee system so tiny micro payments are possible/practical.
...along with low fees for huge amounts.

I agree.
How would that work?
The price of bitcoin must go up until 1 satoshi is used as a tx fee, and 1000 satoshis can actually be used to buy something.
2952  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now I see how ANY Government can EASILY KILL BTC on: April 14, 2014, 09:30:56 PM
I just learned about the 51% attack.

People say it can't happen because "everyone loves BTC"

= Who would do that?
= WHO would have that much money to waste just to kill BTC

Seems to me that $60-$100 Million offered @ $10 MILLION Each to 6-10 mine pools would do it...then no more concern about CRYPTO

and BTC is large enough that the media spin on it would count as an EXAMPLE to the masses that crypto doesn't work (perception is reality) and should be stayed away from?

What do you think?

So if I owned a pool and the Feds paid me ten million bucks to shut down the pool,
And i agreed, so what?  My pool is shut down, and miners would join another pool.
So, nothing was accomplished except breaking up a large pool temporarily.

Wow. You obviously don't understand a 51% attack either.

The gov pays 3 major pools so that they direct their hashrate to create a dishonest chain and make other honest miners' blocks to become orphaned.

I understand what a 51% is lol... Good point but still if they did that, that would pool would be dead, so it would be good for only a short time, the pools would disband and bitcoin would continue.

They wouldn't "disband", just that most of the miners would leave and the bribing would have been worthless.

What do you think?

I think you should stop making silly threads and spend more time reading.

You're a noob, we get it but atleast show your effort in learning. Being spoonfed is not gonna get you anywhere. You will however be mislead by hearsay.

Dont you think we would have had discussed these topics long time ago?

Noob? How old are you 12?  Do you live and operate in the real world or just online?  Are you stuck in the chair at the computer? do u know how life works?

Are you in the COOL clique for BTC? ooooo-- should I try to be your friend?

Get over yourself...seriously.

FOR AS LONG AS THERE IS BITCOIN - there will be new people coming in.

THIS FORUM IS FOR DISCUSSION -- stay OUT OF THE DISCUSSION if you already know everything and had every possible discussion.

I didn't ask if you had this discussion...why would I care if you discussed these things "a long time ago"?  I DIDN'T it is NEW FOR ME

so I WILL DISCUSS THEM!

And while your IQ may be so low, that you are easily mislead by hearsay, or your time on this earth so limited that you are easily taken advantage of..some of us have succeeded in life and are STILL GROWING

thanks for your time and have a good day.

Wow. You are obviously an uneducated person, and cannot properly start a discussion without raging at people.
We are just answering your questions. Your attitude won't get you anywhere.
You should seriously consider changing your attitude to approach your life, otherwise I assure you that you will make many mistakes.
Please calm down and have a think yourself.

byt411 is correct.
Thanks for being patient and nice with our new friend.  Smiley

See, I'm not trying to insult, I am just suggesting something, I'm just trying to help.

Exactly. That's the whole point. And we have countermeasures that we can put into place in the event that this occurs.
We don't even need to hardfork, most miners would switch to another pool anyway.

No, the whole point is that when someone ask you what you think, you show some respect.

These forums are swarming with kids these days. Grow the f*** up!

LOL. Why start insulting too?
We expressed our opinions and showed the OP other threads where others expressed their opinions.
Then both of you start raging and cursing at us.

The thread you responded "exactly" to is a pile of poop.
If the original post was also a pile of poop, I wouldn't care. But it wasn't.

WOW. Such insult. "pile of poop". And then you say we are kids.

Please explain why you think it is a "pile of poop", otherwise you have no right to say so.

Grow up and you will see what I mean

No offense, but that sounds exactly what a 9-year old kid that thinks he is grown-up would say.

Why would the government want to kill something they want to tax?  Makes no sense to them don't you think?

Goes against everything you learned in history class...

For example, the US.
The US sees BitCoin as a competitor to its US Dollar. If everyone treated bitcoin like a currency like the dollar, then it would severly hurt that country's economy, and its government cannot control it.
