2081  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 26, 2023, 02:04:09 PM
There is a lot of debate about whether Ukraine should have defended Bakhmut which according to most military analysts is strategically unimportant, but it seems to me that the decision was still correct because it enabled Ukraine to secure the necessary time to additionally arm and train tens of thousands of soldiers who will participate in a counterattack.

It is true that Ukraine lost a lot of soldiers and equipment in that area, but Russia still lost a lot more because of the strategic positions of the Ukrainian army, which was and still is in elevated positions around the city, from which it prevents the further advance of the Russian army. In addition, advancing forward, the Russian army weakened its flanks all the time, and now this is becoming more and more apparent because the Ukrainian forces have all the prerequisites to surround the city and destroy everyone in it.

Bakhmut played a very important role in fully focusing the Russian forces to conquer it, but I have no doubt that the regular Russian troops will face a real challenge to hold it, because the "bloody musicians" who actually conquered the city are leaving the front, and considering the losses, it will take them months to recover.

I get 16 sat freerolls every hour, maybe each user is different and the freeroll income is different and not the same, I have 53 referrals but not all of them are active, is it calculated based on the age of the account or the number of referrals we have, I still have time to ask questions about the difference what is this income based on, maybe it has been discussed before but maybe I missed it.

A few pages ago we talked about it, because someone wrote that his minimum reward is 2 sats per roll, but in fact everything is explained on the main page of faucet, and that reward depends on purchased lottery tickets, multiply btc and bet on events, and the highest minimum reward always changes in relation to the price of BTC. Currently, it is even 152 sats per roll. The number of referrals and their activity, as far as I know, have nothing to do with it.

Look at where the companies that will be storing the shards are located. The USA and the UK + the last shard is held by Ledger. Don't you think they couldn't have found partner companies elsewhere? Of course, they could have. The way they did it now, the right document from the right 3-letter agency in the US gets US authorities one shard, with Ledger gladly supplying the second one.

Nothing happens by chance, everything is well thought out, and apart from profit, the point is to put as many users of this HW as possible in a position where they can be controlled. Of course, not everyone will accept the new service, some because of the price and KYC, others because they understand how absurd and dangerous it is, but let it not surprise anyone if Ledger turns that service into something mandatory in the future, because their "mothers" and maybe even 200 millions of users are super satisfied and they will ask the company to protect those of us who don't understand it.

Yes, I'm referring to that video. It made me moody and angry how Pascal (he doesn't deserve this surname) looks at Bitcoin users. You could see an ironical and humiliating attitude towards bitcoin users in his speech. I bet he even laughs and thinks how stupid people are when they buy/order his hardware wallet.

Yes, it's easy to see what attitude he has towards anyone who dares to criticize what he does, but he's one of those people who always thinks that everything they do is perfect and completely right. I lost my trust in that company a long time ago, but after everything that has happened now, I will be extra motivated to warn all current and future users to think seriously about whether they will trust someone who makes such risky and senseless decisions, and has such a hypocritical attitude attitude towards those who made it possible for him to be what he is today.

At some point I think that there is a bigger overall plan and FTX, Ledger and other companies are part of this plan, yes, I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory but everything can happen. Look, top exchanges fail/scam/go-bankrupt, now hardware wallets are probably going to get hacked/leaked. Isn't this a reason to ban bitcoin usage/trading/mining/etc? Probably this is a real plan or probably they think that people are dumb and want to take an advantage of that.

I wouldn't even say that there is a plan in the sense that someone devised it, but that the plan is actually to let people do what they know best, which is to destroy themselves. Everything that is happening is just an indication of how wrong we were when we trusted companies like Ledger or Trezor, or that most Bitcoin trading is conducted through CEX. For the first time in history, we got a decentralized currency, and in fact we centralized it to such an extent that it is mostly stored in a centralized way.

Still, it's not too late to change, everyone can use DEX and store their coins in airgapped storage, and if the majority did that, people like Pascal, CZ or Brian Armstrong would become completely irrelevant.

It's not like OP is not aware of Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great!. Only nine days ago, he celebrated his Sr. Member rank-up achievement in this thread. He could have posted this achievement there as well. But decided to create a thread because others are doing the same.

I don't think we can expect everyone to follow some guidelines (which aren't even official), and the Reputation board has always been a place where members posted their achievements. It would be nice if everyone posted their achievements in the same topic, but that is simply not realistic to expect.

I don't think I have ever "celebrated" any of my achievements in this way, but I understand that there are members who experience each "achievement" very emotionally, so I can understand that they react like the OP. In addition, I think that the quantity in this particular case is not too important, because numbers are just numbers, and the quality of the posts is a much more important criterion.
2085  Economy / Gambling / Re: Using ToS against users normal? on: May 25, 2023, 02:34:22 PM
Changing of terms and conditions without notifying the users or gamblers is normal with online gambling websites?
~snip~

Not that it's not normal in online casinos, but it's not normal in anything else, because every player must be aware of their rights and the rules by which they play at all times. Therefore, every serious casino will inform its players if there has been a change, and it is nothing strange if some abuse such changes to their advantage, because not everyone plays a fair game.

However, I think that a much bigger problem is that most players do not read the terms of use, and then complain later because they were uninformed. Just as every online casino wants to protect itself and its business, every player needs to protect himself and his interests, even if that means reading all the fine print.
2086  Economy / Services / Re: FREE ☘☘☘ Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator for Unconfirmed Transactions ☘☘☘ on: May 25, 2023, 02:15:53 PM
@raritycheck, OP has not been active since 2021, so you don't have to count on his help. The first transaction has a low fee, while the second is still much closer to confirmation, although everything depends on the current situation with mempool. Unfortunately, the only working accelerator cannot help with your transactions (low fee, transaction size).

Since the transactions are not marked with RBF (replace by fee), you have the option to wait, or to try the CPFP option if there are conditions for that. See more on this link -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5285192
2087  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 25, 2023, 01:28:42 PM
Haha, I laughed a lot Cheesy You made my day

I laughed when I first read that, because it's such a stupid attempt to convince current clients and future customers that this service is something they should use.

In podcast, the CEO of Ledger said that they have 6 million customers. That's a tiny number if they have calculated that up to 100 million users are in queue in near future and are exactly looking for this service.

Are you referring to this YT video? I watched it yesterday and I have to admit that I was even more disappointed with how Ledger looked at the whole situation, and that he actually called everyone who raised their voice people who spread FUD for no reason. The part in which Pascal talks about the Ledger leak scandal is especially incredible, because he claims that almost no one knew that it happened, and that the event had no impact on the company, suggesting that the dust around seed sharing will soon settle. That part is available at 56:20.

I want to ask you, how many people use Facebook? Google search? Keep in mind that these companies don't give a shit to users personal information and it has been proven for many times and still their profit and userbase increases every day. Millions of facebook users post what and where they eat, where they work, what movie they watch, send sensitive information in messenger, etc.
Don't you think that these people aren't going to somehow step in a crypto world? And don't you think that they can be that 100 million users and will willingly use Ledger Recover service?

Some old information that I know without googling says that there were about 2.4 billion FB users, although of course not all of them are unique users. But regardless of all those users, I don't think that Ledger will one day even have 100 million users, I'm somehow more convinced that this company will fail much sooner, and that it will probably be destroyed by this same service that they are trying to sell now. The three companies that will keep the seeds will sooner or later be part of some data leak, hundreds or thousands will be hacked that way and then there will be no going back.

Let's say that Ledger has two options: A. Their profit will increase slightly if they keep their current crypto enthusiast customers happy and B. Their profit will dramatically increase if they lose some of their customers but attract a lot of new customers who will pay them $9 every month.
Ledger is a business, a corporative company, right? And it's clear to see that this company wasn't founded by a crypto enthusiast but by a person who is a businessman and wants money. They go with option B.

I don't doubt that, profit is the only thing they are interested in, especially if you look at how these people live luxuriously and how they flaunt their wealth (a gold ring on every finger), and the hunger for even more money makes them do such things.

In recent posts, the "geniuses" from Ledger refer to their mothers and some future 100 million clients
It is an interesting talking point because it is exactly the same talking point that Square/Block have been using to promote their hardware wallet which has no seed phrases and shares custody of your back up with third parties.

For example, here is their business lead Lindsey Grossman using the 100 million figure, and then talking about her "friends and family": https://youtu.be/WbjzZQwDozw?t=355

Good catch, and just another minus in the whole story. However, reading the comments of some people under the video I linked, it is incredible how many people believe in the nonsense that people from Ledger are talking about. Einstein was definitely right.
2088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DeSantis promises to protect bitcoin in presidential campaign launch event on: May 25, 2023, 12:53:57 PM
@ETFbitcoin, I think that the words of most politicians are just plain populism, especially when they need every possible vote, and his advisors obviously advised him that it would be wise to mention Bitcoin, because the other two candidates who have the most chances do not mention it. It's not only possible votes, but also donations that will be received in BTC, so it actually kills two birds with one stone.

Quote
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who launched his presidential campaign in a Twitter Spaces event with Elon Musk on Wednesday evening, said he'd protect bitcoin if he's elected next year.

As far as can be read online, the presentation was a real fiasco with countless technical problems, which are nothing strange considering that Mr. Mars fired more than 75% of Twitter employees, especially those who knew what they were doing. Instead of a pleasant start, DeSantis suffered the same fate as that rocket that blew up before it could reach space.

2089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mr Beast’s house robbed of everything except for bitcoin on: May 24, 2023, 02:32:54 PM
I heard that some people mentioned this character on the forum, but I didn't pay attention to him, and now that I see how he behaves, I'm not too sorry for that. I don't know if anyone has ever confirmed that the robbery even existed, and it's no secret that these so-called YT influencers exaggerate or deliberately lie in order to increase their viewership - in other words, they will do everything for a few more clicks.

I would not laugh at thieves at all because they take what they can sell quickly and easily, but at people who keep their private keys on a piece of paper next to their personal computer or even worse in the computer itself. The question arises, who is the real fool in this story?

Haha,
1111 sats, 2222 RTP Is too juicy a reward I must confess, Infact, I personally find the 2222 RTP more valuable than 0.007 btc which is the reward for rolling 10000, I never will expect FreeBitco to implement this suggested reward system, but at all they eventually decide to, then like I said previously, rolling those numbers will automatically not be as common as it currently is, and I am also assuming that this could become top rewards, most especially the 2222 RTP.

I think that for someone who can give a Lambo or $200k as the main prize, it would not be a problem to implement some symbolic prize for something that could be called "free roll special numbers", nor should it mean that the possibility of someone getting such a number should be made difficult in any way. Prizes could be in the form of lottery tickets, RP or maybe even golden tickets for a specific number in each week.

Of course, there remains the question of the technical implementation of such a reward system, but I'm sure that something like that would only make each roll even more interesting.

Thanks for the congratulations, @Lucius!
No, that's because I disabled getting lottery tickets with free rolls, as people said above. I always get zero of them,
with my every free roll.

You're welcome, good luck with the future rolls Smiley
2091  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 24, 2023, 01:38:45 PM
He said that a lot of people write him and tell him that they can't carry the responsibility of keeping 24 word seed phrase safely and ask them for recovery options. Basically, what he says is 100% true for majority of users. I have even stated earlier that Ledger wouldn't do such a risky move without research and confidence. At the moment a lot of people are angry about their decision but it's a business, Ledger aims to satisfy upcoming millions of users instead of a current tiny userbase.

In recent posts, the "geniuses" from Ledger refer to their mothers and some future 100 million clients, and to me it looks like senseless and cheap propaganda, and by no means some kind of story that is based on the fact that Ledger is overwhelmed by requests from thousands of users who literally ask the company to allow them to share their backup with some unknown companies.

All those supposed users who are looking for such a risky feature actually have no idea what kind of nonsense they are looking for, and Ledger as a company turns out to be an even bigger fool if they enable this feature. In my opinion, the intention (although I think it is not true that a large number of users asked for it) of enabling such a service only shows that Ledger does not care that they try to present risk as a benefit, as long as their additional profit is behind it.

I also wouldn't call the millions of current users "tiny userbase", nor would I agree that some new users will rush to buy their devices in the future, although I may be living in the illusion that the average Bitcoin user will wise up with time and realize that Ledger has become bad product.

~snip~
The vast majority of people do not want their hardware wallet addresses KYCed or their wallets linked to their real identity and that information shared with blockchain analysis companies, governments, and whoever else pays for the data.

Just to add that it might be more correct to say that the vast majority of those who don't want it actually belong to that small percentage of people who understand the basic difference between a bank account and actually owning Bitcoin in the sense of "not your keys, not your coins". If a person does not understand the essence of Bitcoin, then it does not matter to him how the backup is stored, and if Ledger remains the leader in the sale of hardware wallets after all, it will only confirm that even the best ideas in the wrong hands do not make much sense.
2092  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 24, 2023, 10:59:09 AM

Basically, he says that people in crypto world have accepted KYC and it's a normal here.

There is some truth in the fact that the majority have accepted KYC as a standard procedure, but still mostly when it comes to CEX, but this was never the case with hardware wallets, even though Ledger leaked data of hundreds of their clients, and the company is swept it under the carpet and tried to convince clients that there was actually no danger in it.

This is just a continuation of everything that happened, because if we read between the lines, then the message that Ledger sends is something along the lines of "you are not ready to be your own bank anyway, your backup is safer in our hands", which is very similar to what said comrade CZ, when he called practically 99% of his users "stupid" and asserted that they are not capable of being their own bank.

If you look at the bigger picture and all the regulations, especially in the US and the EU, then it is much clearer in which direction all this is going. Let no one be surprised if in the future any HW will be impossible to use without detailed KYC, and the so-called "recovery" will also be mandatory, which will mean that most of the bad-informed will keep their BTC in a custodial service.

i live in germany and its 500k € jumped to almost 800k € and what are you calling a building for a private person of 500k if not a house ?

I know that the standard of living in Germany is quite high, and even a house of half a million euros is obviously not something excessive, although for my standard we call such "houses" villas or residences, at least if you go a little to the east of the EU. For an example, look at what you can get on the Adriatic coast for 800k EUR, although the price was even 170k EUR less before.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366161.msg58250640#msg58250640

and when it comes to the shitcoins, yes actually thats what i want to do, invest into a shitcoin (XRP) wait for the lawsuit causing the temporal Skyrocket up to at least 100% i would suggest and then sell ^^ anyhow with 3k i cannot loose all to much compared to the 300k i "lost" through the house ^^

Your money, your risk - I personally don't think the results of the lawsuit will have that kind of impact on that altcoin. 100% is not something unattainable for an altcoin anyway, Bitcoin has achieved this since the beginning of the year.
2094  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to buy - A look into the future of BTC !? on: May 23, 2023, 01:47:47 PM
Well it is a strategy that fits for my personal situation. My problem with DCA that i cannot use this strategy right now because i am building a house for my family which should have cost about 500k  but then corona came followed by the ukraine and now we are about to pay almost 800k.

Is that 500k US dollars or your national currency? I live in the EU, but a house of half a million USD or EUR is not even called a house in our country, and only those who are at the top of the pyramid can afford it. Anyway, your timing was bad.

This forced me to sell off anything i had at the possible badest moment (january) while i had invested closely before the ftx desaster ^^ this situations cost me a lot of money and now i only have 3k bugs left to invest but still i cant say if i can loose them ore if i would need them becouse the house could possibly become any more expensive depending on what comes next.
~snip~

Are you building an $800k house, have only $3k in cash, and are you thinking about some investments? Honestly, you can only profit from that $3k if you invest in some shitcoin that will explode overnight and bring you x000% profit, but you can also go to a casino and choose black/red or maybe green if you feel extremely lucky Grin

Probably, they hire the service of the team behind needmoney account to promote the casino on social media and here in the forum without knowing the actual reputation of the account. Perhaps they were informed that a legendary account that endorsed them will boost their project's reputation.

It's a bad business move in any case, except for those who think that every Legendary account is good for promotion, or for those who don't care about Trust score. When you employ/hire someone to do something for you, then it would be logical to check whether that person might have a negative impact on your business - and as far as I know, only one campaign on the forum accepts members into its ranks, regardless of DT tags. Of course, we all know that this company has no reputation at all.

I have a friends that ask me bout btc official website and I always referred them to Bitcoin.org with the believe that is the official website.

Tell your friends that Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency, so as such it cannot have any official websites, banks, or people who represent it - anyone who doesn't want to or can't understand it always has the alternative of looking for a centralized project that has all those things projects usually have. I doubt that @hosseinimr93 can explain more what he wrote, because the explanation is more than clear.

Is all we can do as a Bitcoin investor is to HODL?

Of course, you can always do more with your BTC, but that involves risk, because you leave your digital assets to someone else, and that other person can make an exit scam or be hacked at any moment. These days in my country there is a current story about how some enterprising crypto investor managed to cheat around 800 people and disappear with around 70 million EUR.

Obviously, no one remembers all those lending companies that collapsed like towers of cards, and maybe it's time for some new ones to appear, considering that there are a lot of people who are ready to "gift" their BTC to someone else for the promise of some miserable earnings of 1-2% per year.
2098  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to buy - A look into the future of BTC !? on: May 23, 2023, 09:43:40 AM
I recently found this (wish i would have found it at the beginning of this year i swear i would be rhich right now xD)

What is the difference between now and the beginning of the year when we look at the price of BTC? The difference is about $6000-7000 and you haven't missed anything important that cannot be compensated, so you can become rich by the end of the year or even sooner Wink

as you can see BTC is doing actually almost exactly what it is supposed to do according to the cheat sheet. Right now we are close to the Dip between the double top after the "ANGER" Phase of the cheat sheet.

The price is more or less following the old patterns before the last halvings and is slowly recovering after bottoming out last year at under $15k, and everyone who followed those patterns has already filled their bags and has already made 100% profit. Others who, like you, analyze what will happen with some shitcoin or with some CEX will very likely regret the missed opportunities again, but it is a story that is constantly repeated, and I am not surprised that nothing has changed even today.

I will add the 6 casinos with the most comments.

Is there a particular reason why Flush wasn't added to the list at all? Maybe they are not the most famous and do not have a numerical superiority when it comes to signature campaigns, but that is no reason not to be on the list. You have a link in my signature.
