Ok, I've been keeping a close eye on it the past day, and this is what I'm seeing

- Huge spikes in hashrate causing difficulty to hover around 25-26
- Once it gets that high, either a multipool or a dickhead leaves
- Takes a while to find the next few blocks, dropping difficulty back under 5
- Repeat

All this is doing is delaying the fork, it isn't doing any harm or anything. The difficulty adjustments post-fork will help prevent this from happening

I just hope we can see a price jump, its stupidly low right now

Well personally I don't mind the low price to snag a few more. I already know it will spike even higher than it did last time once we finish up some of the services and sites we are working on for it. I can't say too much, yet, because I don't like to overpromise, but the lower the price per Spot is, the more we will make when people pay with them (SPOT will be the only option) in our new sites, as will any merchants currently accepting it, so I'm ok with this  Smiley
Just one problem, taking this idea to the extreme means that you will have all the coins and they will have a zero value!
The market is strange though, you have done lots for Spots, but the price just keeps on falling.
2122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALTCOIN FAIL on: January 17, 2014, 09:16:34 PM
Since when did technology progression become such a joke Huh It seems like there's been a new coin released every 5 mins.. each bringing absolutely nothing new to the table other than being "rare" or "abundant". Hey my old cigarettes are rare and btw my 5 gallon water bottle full of pennies is abundant - doesn't mean they are worth anything.

Honestly this entire scene is being polluted with garbage coins. Dogecoin? Really? What new tech did this coin bring to the table other than a ridiculous block reward and large supply pool? It's just another clone with a dog picture slapped on it. Coinye West? Really? You actually thought that you had a chance at becoming a top rate currency? Piratecoin? What possible advantage does an internet pirate have by using your coin? 42? Trading at $800,000 a coin... Someone tomorrow clones it and releases "41" trading at $xxx, xxxx a coin. Next week someone creates 1/4 coin "only 1/4 of a coin will ever be released" trading at $xxx, xxx, xxxx, xxxx.

Honestly it's gotten so bad that a dogecoin minion tweets to Matt Green(zerocoin) defending his crapcoin from Matt's righteous Dogecoin mention in a recent Forbes article. Matt is working on some next-level tech in the crypto scene he shouldn't have to respond to some crapcoin holder or developer for that matter.

The only real altcoin list I see so far is Anoncoin, Litecoin, Stablecoin, Zerocoin, Primecoin, Skiencoin, Securecoin and Datacoin.

Each of the above coins has/is working on new technology to progress cryptocurrency into the coming years. Honestly we should start a movement to remove other altcoins from the exchanges if they don't provide at least one new advancement. BTW cloning a repo and replacing key values doesn't count.

If you aren't contributing anything on the protocol level GTFO you're taking up valuable ports. This entire forum looks like a craigslist bot started pushing altcoins.

I tend to agree with you that the exchanges are the ones to blame. If they only had a few quality coins then it would stop people cloning new crap everyday. Cryptsy used to be the home of the crapcoin, now it is actually one of the higher brow exchanges.

Not sure if there will be any buyers, but I will sell at 0.000001BTC per TBC.

2125  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it that BTC are more expensive in Euros then in $ on: January 17, 2014, 02:36:35 PM
I think the answer is that it isn't more expensive in €.
On Bitcoin.de the $ price would give a € price of 600€.  It is at 599€, basically the same.

Hey guys I love this coin, has been mining since day 2.

I didn't follow it much. What happened whith the creator ? What did he do wrong. I understand he might be a scammer. I'm glad this community is going strong.
He stole a load of money from IPO investors, then got scared when everyone threatened him, so paid them all back.  Still not the person to run a nice, fair, community driven coin.
2127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ghash.io reached 45% on: January 17, 2014, 12:31:55 PM
Who exactly are the unknown miners? I have noticed they have grown from 15% to 25% recently.

https://blockchain.info/pools?timespan=24hrs

Probably Ghash hiding their hashing power in unknown to not cause panic.

They can cause panic when they have their shorts ready  Smiley
if Ghash are so successful, why aren't clones popping up all over the place to reduce their market share?  I don't really get it.
2128  Economy / Speculation / Re: I don't get the price movement (or lack thereof).... on: January 17, 2014, 12:30:33 PM
I wonder what exactly it is that gives Bitcoin it's value (other than what people are willing to pay, obviously).
All I can come up with is scarcity.  How often is is used seems to be a long way from being the limiting factor.  Lets say that Overstock and all other recently announced BTC accepting companies take 1000 BTC per month revenue, no where near the amount of BTC that are actively traded.  The people using BTC in transactions will just go and rebuy them with Fiat.  The companies won't be stockpiling them, they will be exchanging for fiat straight away.  So it doesn't make much difference if the price is $100 or $10000, Bitcoin can be used just as easily either way.

It becomes a limiting factor when the turnover of Bitcoins is higher than the value of the bitcoins being actively traded.  Then the price would have to rise.  Then I would say that the price is based on fundamentals, whereas now it is based on speculation.  Gold based on fundamentals should be a few bucks an ounce, so I'm not predicting a crash, just saying that good news won't necessarily increase the value of bitcoin (in my opinion).

is anyone still having success with solo mining.
Yes, but I may give up soon, and switch to mining something more profitable.
Given that you still have the bitcoinsports.eu advert as your sig, you must be pretty persistant! He hasn't posted since the 20th of december and hasn't paid out what he owes for months now!

Unfortunately this coin is dead, the dev only posted a few times and didn't sort out any infrastructure for the coin.  It wasn't terribly innovative to start with either.  That my Athlon X2 250 could solo mine lots of blocks showed that the difficulty and total mining power was somewhat lacking to start with too.

If someone does take it over and get rid of the premine then I would be interested, but only if the premine goes along with the dev.

Very good work getting onto BTC38's radar.  They seem to prefer fair coins so Frozen is right along their alley.
I agree and Crypsty is the obvious next stop.

Username : 50cent_rapper...
Sort of says it all, doesn't it.

If you don't like my username, you can call me X, Y, or even Z. I don't care. What really matters is BEHAVIOR.
Well your first line was good, and all parts written in bold too.
I assume Satoshi probably wrote like that when people knocked his idea too...

Welcome to the first edition of Shit and Scam coins of the day
1)  PandaCoin - Premined 2%, trying to bank off a viral coin. Low dev support, coin was made through a generator.

FUCK YOU LIAR.

I'm the dev of Pandacoin.

1. Pandacoin is the only coin with block reward decreasing everyday.
2. Pandacoin uses Kimoto Gravity Well difficulty adjustment algo.
3. I'm on support of this coin everyday.
4. I make a SuperGiveaway of Pandacoin and decrease premine to 0,95% https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=417075.0

So, you tk808 is just a big piece of shit.
So it was premined? Are you trying to bank off a viral coin? Was it made through a generator?  You answered about the Dev support.
Seems like a fair enough addition to the list.  Keep them coming!

Fair enough iGotSpots, you have done everything that you said you would do. Good work.  You've given SPOTs a chance, now the market has to decide.
The block explorer is broken by the way.  I assume that is why coinmarketcap doesn't have SPOTs listed.

But if you somehow take over the coin, don't forget that the loser dev premined 5mill and only gave away a few thousand. If you want to take it over, either bin those premined coins or buy them off him at about market rate (almost nothing)

The initial dev deserves nothing for his awful performance, don't do the pumping so that he can't dump.
2136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is this computer any good for cpu mining? on: January 15, 2014, 09:27:34 PM
just start mining, see how many coins a day you find, then work out the profitablilty.
Everything else will be a bit of a guess.

It looks like a good set up, but lots of people use cloud mining, so have hundreds of CPUs to mine with.

Any sign of an exchange yet?
Hahahaha, brilliant.
Any sign of a block explorer? Any sign of a website? Any sign of a community? Any sign of the dev with his 4.99mill TBCs?
No? Then I guess there won't be any exchanges in the near future then. Someone could try to pick up this coin, but why would they, just to enrich the crappy Dev.

Looks like he gave away maximally about 10,000 coins from the 5 mill Premine.
Looks dead already, good work!  Did your pre-2012 coin also only last 3 days!?
