2221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best countries for people that want to invest in ICO's on: March 02, 2018, 11:26:39 AM
In my country, Belgium, there hasn't been any specific mention of ICO's. Profits gained by investing in cryptocurrency are taxed at a flat rate of 33% however.
There was a recent case where a teenager had to pay 33% from profits made from an exchange app he had made. He contacted the tax office himself and they ruled that he would be taxed at 33%

This set a precedent and it's been in different newspapers that all profits from crypto are taxed at that rate.
2222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your Dice gambling strategy? on: March 02, 2018, 11:11:46 AM
I am only using martingale strategy when I am playing dice game ,
But I do limit my bets and I would stop if I think that it is already enough before the system would eat up all of my money.
I think martingale is the best for dice you just have to play with a huge capital.
Yeah, martingale is still a lot less risky depending on your bankroll and your starting bet. However, like you said, it is always good for one to know that this is not a profit making venture and you can still lose a lot from a long losing streak if care is not taken. So in that case, there should always be limit which I apply once in a while until I noticed from my statistics that I have been running in negatives a lot since I started gambling.

What? Martingale is one of the riskiest strategies in my opinion. Your risk basically doubles every turn just to make a really tiny profit.
For me, a x2 reward doesn't warrant the risk you're putting your bankroll through.

Do you know how big of a bankroll you need to have in order to be able to sustain, say, 10 consecutive losses?
2223  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need Advice / Idea. on: March 02, 2018, 10:55:14 AM
3000 dollars will at least get you something in Eastern Europe, depending in which country you live.
I think it might be possible to start a small webshop for that kind of money, if you're able to build most of the website yourself or go with an alternative solution like Shopify.

Pick something that you at least have some interest in, otherwise you'll just end up hating going to work.
2224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NSA Admits that 3 USA 3 Letters Agencys 100% PAID4 & Created BTC & TOR on: March 02, 2018, 10:44:57 AM
Have you even taken the time to read the article you just shared?
Where does it state that Bitcoin was created by a government agency?

It's also common knowledge that TOR is funded by the US government, heck it was created by the US government.
First by a US naval research lab, later it was further developed by DARPA.

Not sure if I completely agree with the term 'honeypot' either. It's true that TOR has quite some vulnerabilities, but one should still be able to use it to stay anonymous if certain precautions are taken.
2225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is anyone active on Steemit? on: March 01, 2018, 10:36:16 PM
putting your steemit in your signature space might help you get those extra viewers. I don't write for steemit but am always looking for quality content posted about altcoins. I'll check out your account and hopefully you have got some good content.

How much do you earn per post?
It usually hovers between $1 - $5, but I've only been blogging for about 1 month. I don't really post too much about altcoins, mostly very diverse content.
I'm already part of a campaign on this forum, so my signature space is taken. Might consider changing it in the future though.

What is steemit can you please explain what is it? Because it keeps on my mind and i research about it but its still hard to understand the purpose of that

Users can write articles about cryptocurrency and possibly other topics and receive money per view? I think it's per view but could be mistaken there. Generally people post guides on how to do things but I think reviews may be allowed too.

It's a good little earner if you are good at writing and have a good knowledge of the subject.

Any kind of topic is allowed on Steemit. There are people who use it liek Instagram and post personal blogs and pictures.
The earnings are per upvote, not per view.

Yeah I only ever read topics about alternate currencies and Bitcoin. I don't own an account there I just read by visiting the page. I'm guessing only members who have earned on the site can up vote topics? I'll consider looking into it and participating myself.

I guess this can't be used as a full time wage but more of a hobby which pays so if you enjoy writing informative posts or anything of that sort then it could be beneficial.

Some people do earn a living wage with Steemit alone though. I've seen quite a few accounts that currently have over $100k sitting in them.
You basically have an amount of Steem Power, the more SP you have, the higher your upvote is.

You get more Steem Power by either writing or buying it.
2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is anyone active on Steemit? on: March 01, 2018, 03:55:26 PM
Thanks I am on Steemit too and here is my link

https://steemit.com/@valnd

Follow me and I will surely follow you back. Steemit has great potential as year go on the audience will grow in large number

I followed you and I'm checking out your profile on Steemit. If I find some good posts or comments, I'll give them an upvote.

I have been active in steemit but it really takes a while to build good following on steemit but with good content and good comments on the platform, you would sure grow your followers and be influential on the platform

Yeah, you have to work every day to make it big there. But I think it could definitely be worth it in the end.
With goods content you can easily make around 50 dollars per post, once you have enough followers and people auto-voting for you.
2227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is now being blamed for the situation in North Korea on: March 01, 2018, 03:52:11 PM
So what if North Korea is using cryptocurrency to fund their nuclear missile program? What is the American government going to do about it?
How could they even think of enrolling further sanctions preventing the trade of crypto by North Korea?

Any sort of sanctions can be circumvented in one way or another.

Bump, because this thread got buried quickly the other day...
2230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SAFEST BITCOIN WALLET? on: March 01, 2018, 11:45:54 AM
Like everybody has already said before in this thread, a hardware wallet is the best option when it comes to security.
If you still want to go with a desktop wallet, I can highly recommend Armory, as it's one of the most secure desktop wallets out there.

Do keep in mind that Armory does require you to download the full blockchain and it is meant for multi-signature cold storage.
You asked about a secure wallet, Armory is one, but it's not known for ease of use Tongue
2231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency kills people on: February 28, 2018, 01:38:09 PM
Nobody even bothered to mention that the link just points to a Google search with the word 'cryptocurrency'...

Anyway, here's the actual source of what Bill Gates said.
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/bitcoin-latest-bill-gates-cryptocurrencies-reddit-fentynl-deaths-money-laundering-criminal-a8232346.html

I mean he isn't wrong, but the same can be said about fiat as well. I'm sure criminals also use credit cards, bank accounts etc.
2232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Revival of Bitcoins and alts and your strategy. on: February 28, 2018, 12:16:22 PM
I personally do change some of my gambling activities depending whether prices and fees are high or low.
Now that Bitcoin's price has dropped a little and the fees are so low, I use Bitcoin more often for gambling.

Otherwise I just use Litecoin for example to deposit and play with. The prices don't have an effect on how much I gamble though, that always stays about the same...
2233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is posting earning? on: February 28, 2018, 11:44:26 AM
OP, I suggest you lock this thread, you've got your answer ;-)
Otherwise everybody just keeps repeating the same thing over and over as you are seeing already.
2234  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A multi crypto lottery project. on: February 28, 2018, 11:35:33 AM
How will you ensure that the lottery happens fair and that the winners get their payment afterwards?
I would be pretty hesitant to be the first one to deposit if the website doesn't have a proven trust record.

If there was a way to ensure it was fair and that everybody gets paid their winnings, I'd play it.
2235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Version of Bitcoin Core Supports SegWit Addresses on: February 28, 2018, 10:02:42 AM
Also, segwit adoption rose to just about 25% right after the new version came out, now it's even up to 30%.
I hope that it continues to increase and that the number of transactions per day goes up, just so we can see the results.

To check the share of segwit transactions within each block:

2236  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any idea for poor people? on: February 27, 2018, 03:02:42 PM
I actually just mentioned this in another topic, but I guess it also applies in this one.

I really think that governments or volunteers should make use of crypto to set up some sort of guaranteed basic-income.
Just enough to basically get rid of poverty and there should be no strings attached for receiving this.

There will be less and less jobs in the future anyway, so a solution like this is what's going to be needed.
2237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is anyone active on Steemit? on: February 27, 2018, 02:17:18 PM
I've been pretty active on Steemit myself and I was wondering if there were other members of Bitcointalk on Steemit.
If you want we could post our accounts in this thread and check out each others posts.

I'm pretty happy with my earnings already, but growing a large following is pretty slow.

Be sure to also share your experiences there.

2238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ways casinos cheat on: February 27, 2018, 02:02:55 PM
That's why the only thing I bet on from home(online) is sports betting, the house edge maybe a little bit higher but you are getting an insurance that you are not getting cheated.
I think that most of the online casinos cheat, why? Because no one can detect if they cheat or not.
They can cheat and also to be considered a legitment business.
I would avoid using any of those online casino unless it's a dice game that can prove provably fair with Hash.
The truth is that we are never going to know exactly what happens, a casino does not need to cheat, it has a decisive advantage over the player already with the house edge, so a well run casino does not need to cheat their players, however there have been cases like that but it is impossible to know how rare that is, however sport betting gives no security either since matches can be fixed as well.

Yeah that's also what I've been saying a few replies back, but people come up with these wild conspiracy theories that all casinos are cheating.
The profit is just built into house edge, like you say, they have literally no reason to cheat players. On slot machines they can make the HE as high as they want.

I also agree that it does happen, but is very rare.
2239  Economy / Services / Re: TRADE: Merit for Info on: February 26, 2018, 01:31:58 PM
I'm really active on Steemit and I haven't seen any really good updates being mentioned in this topic yet.
Will try my best to mention most of the updates here.

The Steemit Winter update was just posted 6 days ago.

Source: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/steemit-winter-update-2017-reflection-our-vision-statement-and-mission-and-a-look-forward

- The biggest announcement in there was that they will be developing SMT's (smart media tokens). They will for example allow Steemit communities to distribute reward tokens to their members. (also other stuff)

- They will not be releasing their mobile app yet

- Changes to their communication strategy in 2018.

- They will work on scaling

- effortless onboarding (sign up + Hardfork 20) -> https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/proposing-hardfork-0-20-0-velocity

It's also worth noting that Steemit has gotten under 1000 in the Alexa rankings and it has been the most active blockchain of all coins.

You don't have to give me merit perse, I just wanted to give you the most up to date info.

I see you asking info about Steemit.
Is this platform alive? I have registered here one month ago, but I never get a confirmational email or anything from them.
When I try to log in, I am an unknown user. Looks like dead platform

Confirmation takes a while and registrations are confirmed sporadically. They are working on that though...

Here's what you have to do to speed up the process:
