Hey there 👋

Yes, I'm a new member of the community team. After years of great service, Tornike has left the team actually, and now it will mostly be Tokash and me here. Nice to meet you Smiley

- ADante

Oh wow, that's sad, but I hope he's moved on to bigger and better things, he took care of me and others here for a very long time -- but it's good to know you Tokash and ADante. Keep this thread warm, it's really where the gamblers come (don't know if you were around when Discord was active but that has a very different vibe, doesn't it?

Nice to meet you too, and can't wait to see if major club football tourneys get some great boosts. 4+1 was the bomb, seriously.
2242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 05, 2023, 09:39:14 PM
Oh, and I sense a "unfathomably nostalgic" vibe from your procrastination-related thoughts. It's as if they're still on dial-up while the rest of us are watching 4K videos in real time. Sure, it's a gamble, but as the old adage goes, "no risk, no reward."

Not sure that I'd call including Bitcoin along with other more-established wealth-keeping options would be considered a gamble unless we're spreading our bets by ensuring Bitcoin's a diversification.

I do have more in Bitcoin than in other savings, but only because I can afford to risk self-custody (everything else is state-insured, and spread across several states). I insist on my dialup, because others depend on me. Perhaps most of us live in that reality, where we are not an island.

Hot damn. Never thought I would be posting in this league thread but with Bobby confirming his destination and rumours of Mane possibly linking up with him and then with Super Captain Gerrard also heading there, it could be that I might end up following developments there, if not even watching a game or two next season.

Oil money objective achieved, I guess?

I went with them, I consider them as favorites here. Not sure how common draws are in cricket though Grin

They did a few shocks yeah so I hope they can beat Scotland. Draws seem to always be around 8/1 when I check, something like Bacarrat heh.

The question is which two teams will make it to the final of qualifiers and who will win it? Provide your answer in the following form: Sri Lanka,  Scotland - Sri Lanka. This is a H2H question." So my brain probably stopped functioning at the 6 teams are left and only 2 of them will make it to the World cup.

So yeah, 2 teams go to World Cup, but they will also play in a final to decide who goes... to some other competition. Don't remember what it was but this is apparently a new format, so there were 2 competitions to qualify for from this qualifier.

Still can't believe I waited to submit. Then clicked submit when I was ready, without actually changing my picks. Def brain stopped functioning heh heh

All questions submitted, but I will never understand silly DOTA system of qualifications, so I answered randomly based on betting odds.
=========
What curve ball is cro2 going to throw at us in next round? Maybe Golf, Badminton or Table Tennis?
Good luck everyone except the guy I play against. Wink

I picked Liquid and Gaimin, the two teams from memory have the best records. No idea if they were favs even. Seems pretty hard to say.

Badminton would have been my forte about 10 years ago haha. I was watching it more than tennis even, and playing it (very badly).

One time I went to the bookies and saw cricket live and team A was winning like 150-0 and the odds on them winning were 7 or something.
Normally, I took half of my student paycheck and bet on it, I was sure it's a mistake by the bookie. I happily went to take a walk, when I returned to see the score it was like 345-150 for the other guys.

I am still clueless about it, I did go against the herd here and picked Netherlands instead of Scotland.

Zimbabwe and Scotland yesterday, I was looking at updates from BBC. Live odds. It would swing from 80% Zimbabwe to 80% Scotland in 10 minutes. It's like nobody really knows what's going on even.

^ $10k for eating hotdogs, I guess it's something worth eating for, not to mention the sponsorship deals after that (and the fame, if that's what you're after!). I can't even finish one plate of bread, for some reason I can't down that easily (now rice, noodles, I can heh).

Saw MATIC is now available on Sportsbet, just got the email, for all you non-Bitcoin lovers out there.

Szoboszlai (not going to check his name spelling) the latest midfield boost for Liverpool. Not exactly getting me super excited, but I like our new number 7s and 10s Wink

I submitted late today, but for the life of me, forgot to change a pick from Zimbabwe to Scotland after knowing Scotland won and KO'd Zim out of the qualifiers haha. Submitted the form as it had been sitting since morning heh.

7 same answers, so almost same as Trofo/Ulven!

Funny enough, my opponent who put in his picks early foresaw that victory -- so he probably has that point in the bag (I'm going to be hoping for a huge Dutch victory but it hardly seems likely). Then it's only DOTA and TdF left, and I'm really not confident in either. Go Liquid!

^ Think I remember mentioning also that the new sportsbook definitely got splashed on with a lot more juice for boxing particularly. FJ used to be the very best at that, now not any longer, so yeah, it's clear it's just a different odds provider at play.

That said, I haven't taken the time to look at new promotions and I've always enjoyed the 4+1 promos (I know, I keep mentioning it but you know, reinforcing ha) so maybe August/September we get some good vibes back.

P.S. ADante, Tornike gets new reinforcements?
2248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Prelim Qualifiers on: July 04, 2023, 03:06:48 PM
Heh, yeah. Self moderation is a pain, and people do flock to the megaspam threads anyway, but point taken, and thanks for the bump reminder. I've updated the threads, and will now go on to fix the Europa and Conference threads.

Sad for Tre Penne, but the guy who scored for them said he only wished the UCL theme song played (it only starts at group stage!).

Not that I know much about cricket, but there's also a surprising amount of interest in the Balkans apparently... and even in the Baltics, where Sportsbet has a huge cricket presence at grassroots level Wink

There's actually a cricket tourney next week organised by Croatian Cricket Federation! Some big names there including a Sportsbet cricket ambassador don't know if you guys recall Brett Lee from early editions of Behind the Bet.

Did anyone else find the Wimbledon on-site "IBM Slamtracker" pretty cool? I don't seem to recall it being there before even in other GSs, but this one shows a much clearer draw path than others with nice dividers for rounds and even a "helpful" predictor (never trust them haha). Or maybe I never noticed it before?
I think it was available on previous editions of Wimbledon, but yeah, it's really cool thing. And IMO, Wimbledon have best website from all Grand Slam and ATP and WTA tours.

By far! AO and RG I remember using a lot but their sites weren't very logical, and results and draws were so hard to view properly, but Wimbledon itself has a really smooth path mapped out, I just wonder why it's so hard for the rest to just copy the formats haha.

Note to Cro2: Now that VAR's available, is there an option in Google Forms to also email the results to the email of submitter? I remember doing it before with Gforms but not sure if that's possible for BSFL. That would help us remember our picks and see if anything needs changing before deadline.
2250  Economy / Gambling / Re: FAIRLAY - SPORTS BETTING for experts - highest liquidity, provably best odds on: July 04, 2023, 10:13:06 AM
Seems like I was the only one updating here for the past 2 years and now would like to make another update for 2023. Fairlay is surprisingly still alive, with fairly large liquidity on most markets. The new update is still yet to happen (so new registrations are still offline).

Major update now is that min bets are 1mbtc, which slightly affects my betting here as I use Fairlay mainly for huge odds (10/1 and above in general) so I don't normally like putting more than $10 on these big bets. Still pretty good for big matches, 0.5 BTC bets on lines of up to 5/1 are available, but I might be adjusting my use from the new season.

Support is still active, payments are still almost instant, so I feel it's still fairly safe to use.

Just in case anyone's wondering Wink

Hoo yeah, finally put in my predictions early, caught your post jeremypwr Wink

Superbru has updated the results, I had no idea there were penalties and positions were gained and lost, and, hooray for me, I moved up to 6th spot just like Lando Norris benefiting from penalties. From 2 points off the leader, I got to only 1 point distance, so I guess I'm doing better than the average required. Seems like CLS63 retained yellow cap after all!

Did a pretty good job of the questions, even if it seemed like slim pickings.

Haha I'm just doing my best bro, trying not to mess up like last season. Thanks for the mention though.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

You deserve every mention you get in this league. Not to mention you'll probably be immortalised on SB website like all of us whenever we get a mention in the weekly write-up from Trofo Wink

Are we just dismissing 2021 because it wasn't a "massive explosion in price"? So we're now only going to sit up when price goes... what, x10? $300k BTC in 2024?

And oh, price determines Bitcoin fate? Someone forgot to send me the memo, I've been using Bitcoin at $68k and at $400. How unfashionable of me and all the people I know using Bitcoin!
2255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Not your keys, Not your coins" is not enough on: July 03, 2023, 02:28:07 PM
Agree in principal, but I actually might advise the regular user, if choosing to liquidate, to go for a CEX -- depending on where they're from and which CEX we're talking about. US or UK? Go for Coinbase, for example, and benefit from some state protections if things go wrong with the exchange.

And most regular people might also need to account for tax and insurance on their post-crypto wealth. A CEX might make that life easier.

It's hard enough to get people to safeguard their coins with sole custody. Getting them to then use P2P with low liquidity and multiple steps for errors without protection is a next step farther down the line.

As a lot of users already mention, we're trying to understand that people want ease and assurance. Bisq, etc. tend to scare people away (if suggested too soon).

You have 10 points already from 4 rounds so you only need 3 more win and a draw to finish above top 10 mathematically.

No doubt you've been playing weak opponents ( No offense but banter must be served), you need to test your team against mine...   Grin

Ah, so since I still have to meet you, then I only need to worry about 2 more wins and a draw Wink

Nicely done on the F1 question, we tied for 6 points as the most in Div 1 (I note Cro2 combo also manage 6 each), I have sweaty palm syndrome the last 4 rounds, wondering when my luck will run out.

Jinetics111 is powering through though, he has 7 points this round!

It takes some time for the payout script to run and then the cache needs to update again to show your winnings. I think you looked at that after it was marked as paid out but before your payout was reflected.

And so it did, indeed. Thank you for taking the time to explain that. I'd checked probably in the same hour and cache needed updating -- it now shows the winnings -- proving that the estimate was actually correct.

Not much to shout about, but the Golden Ticket was all that I was after so I'm golden Wink

Nice call on the podium finish for Perez, coinlocket$! And I think CLS63 getting the winner wrong but making up for it with that fantastic podium bonus is well worth the 2 extra points for yellow cap.

I slipped down a ranking, 2 points off the leader yet again so I'm just hanging on here, thought I was actually being smart mixing it up with Hammie and Alonso on podium, and Ocon not in top 10 took precious points off me. Not a single position bonus this round too.

Thank you and I hope you don't manage to spoil my streak.  Grin  I'm trying to be active around here as much as possible. Because the league is going on really excitingly and it is nice share some ideas about it. Maybe I'm on a solid winning streak but the points are still very close in top places. It looks like it won't be easy for anyone to finish the season in the lead.

It's a 14-man league, and an average of 21 points will put you in the top half of the table, which is exactly everyone's goal. You already have 12 points after just 4 rounds, and with 10 more to go, you only need three more wins to hit the point average for the season, which is a really bad ass move. I've won one of my last three games, and I'm currently looking for a "YES" for the F1 game to earn my second win of the season before playing you next week.

Although the odds are stacked against me, this is a must-win situation for me.

Didn't calculate and on the move now so can't really look back but I think I finished a point above relegation last season, or one extra position above it anyway. That is my main goal, to get the points to safety, then play a bit more relaxed.

Think I started similarly before too, though. Got a few good wins then took risks and failed in the last few games. So maybe best to just stick to being "regular" for majority of picks. Seems to be working out so far.

Not good that past opponents are bottom teams anyway, so I had "easy" fixtures at first. No offence ha ha

That's a massive bet for 0 return lol. But if the odds are advertised at 1.01, you normally would get 50,000 satoshis extra in return. I can understand the bet to get the lambo ticket and the risk was very low, but I still would never bet anymore on these low odds but that's another discussion  Wink.

I knew the risk. The sats I have on this site are what I'd call "free money". Just sitting there for fun and to try get that GT just putting in a ticket or so every draw.

That's not why I made that post. My point is, the estimate is a wee bit misleading Wink

@buwaytress if my assumption is correct then you wagered at the very end and that’s where Freebitco differs from other gambling sites i.e. their time weight multiplier is kinda complicated because once I had wagered a small amount and the calculator showed me a higher amount  but after winning the amount was very less and that’s when I understood it’s a totally different concept. Furthermore I’m not complaining because it’s yet a fun way to gamble and the more early start you have the better and for next time try wagering early for higher returns.

I get it. I think I put my bet in with 6+ days to go. Even with the estimate and the time/weight multiplier (which was positive), I expected a large margin of error in the calculation. But zero sats from an estimated 5,000 sats is not even 0.02% of the estimate -- that, really, is all I'm pointing out Wink

I'm not complaining, consider this goodwill feedback.
