Cause: Many people aren't using bitcoin as before
Consequence: fees are very low. Even 1 sat per byte confirms very quickly.
While lower fees are a good thing, lower bitcoin transactions means losing adoption -- or maybe transactions are being batched more efficiently?
You can see a drop in the number of transactions confirmed per day, but I don't think the drop in activity is big enough to fully explain it. Increased efficiency might also play a (small?) part. Just compare both charts: https://i.imgur.com/nW0LzVf.png (number of confirmed transactions per day) https://i.imgur.com/WWAmjE5.png (Mempool size) Does anyone have another theory?

From the article: The exchange voided the trades after discovering the error, but one customer who tried to transfer the knock-down bitcoins from the exchange has yet to be found a spokesman told Reuters. Why don't I ever find these deals? Just to have it reversed afterwards? You wouldn't gain anything in the end though And did the one guy manage to transfer those free Bitcoins? If he's 'yet to be found' that means that he was successful, no? Also wondering if they had to roll back all the trades or just the ones with the glitch.

Now, this hadn't happened to me in a long time before this incident, but I recently got a post of mine deleted. I was just wondering if you could see from which thread it was deleted? I think I must have made the deleted post at least a couple of months or years ago, so I'm just curious where I made this post in the first place. Post in question: A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted. Forget having a lemonade stand as a kid, next thing will be operating your own mining rig Guessing it might have been somewhere in the Mining section and it was a pretty low quality post. Just want to suggest adding the thread to the automated message perhaps? In any case, sorry for the low quality reply, I really hope that I didn't post this recently, pretty embarrassing tbh

You sure get a lot of shit in this thread by members who're saying this is a scam, I personally don't see this being a scam. Actually a pretty fun idea if you're into cam-shows and gambling, kind of like strip-poker I'm into gambling but not cam-shows, but if I was I'd try this out for sure! Good luck with your offer! Edit: Oh, I just saw the part where you said that you don't intend to let the balance drop below 90%, so probably not even a cam-show then. Might try this with some of my signature payments Saturday

So if I want to store my coins in a time-locked address using OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY (OP_HODL) for, say, 4 years after that soft-fork, my coins would slowly start to erode at the 3 year mark? I also assume that there are many other reasons why someone would store their coins for +3 years without touching them.

I really wonder what their plans for this new altcoin are, probably a currency to be used for in-game payments, I reckon. That said, it's kind of crazy how many companies are jumping on the crypto bandwagon.
I wouldn't have thought that all of these major companies would be investing so much into crypto.

Why would you even play in casino's like that? It's just a huge pain to deal with and will cause you so much delay on withdrawing your winnings. You really do have a lot of choice between other casinos that don't have such requirements.
Crypto-Games for example just lets you withdraw instantly, even if you win big.

Well, for freebitco.in it would be a bad idea to actually gamble there, especially when you want to deposit to gamble on their dice game. All those extra's they're offering are useless if you just want to play the dice game.
Actually, those reward points and lottery tickets they give you for every 500 sats wagered are not useless, they have value. That's the point I'm making here, a straight comparison of sites can't be done by looking at the house edge alone. In those cases it's better to just deposit to Crypto-Games for example. Also compare the freebies of freebitco.in to all the promotions on CG and I'd say the ones on CG are better.
I play on both sites and I prefer CGN for another reason. I love playing roulette. It's about entertainment and house edge doesn't really impact on that. Totally forgot that you actually get points for playing dice on freebitco.in, you're right that it does add some additional value. Same here, also love playing roulette and I really like the one on CG. Very fast paced and no annoying graphics, I dislike the graphics on most roulette wheels in traditional online casino's (damn flash).

I would argue that part of the value of Bitcoin lies in the fact that it can be used to transfer large amounts of money, with relatively low fees. It's still a lot faster than traditional banking and I'm absolutely positive that there are many people who use Bitcoin just for that.
Also don't discount its utility as a payment method for online payments. It provides a great alternative for credit cards, which some people have no access to.

Cool contest for ETH! I have a couple of ethereum and was looking for a place to start spending it on and your competition looks just like what I was looking for. Thanks for the promotional post about it or wouldn't have known it was still in progress. You have to bet a lot to be able to win this one though, current top player sits at 2,695 ETH wagered. On the upside, that number doesn't seem to go up anymore, so some high value, low risk bets will definitely get you up there.

Crypto-Games.net has dice with 0.8% house edge. I don't know if that is lowest available but it's pretty good. They also have faucets and Rainbot giving away coins in chat. Often the promotions and other giveaways counter the house edge. You have to decide which of those you prefer.
....... Anyway, TheQuin, thanks for giving the details about the house edge on crypto-games but actually 0.2% difference does not make a really big deal I wasn't saying it was a big deal I was just trying to answer the OP's question. It was a bit odd that you disputed the figure I gave. As I said in my first post promotions etc. often offset the house edge. Over in the Freebitco.in thread there are countless posts telling everyone not to gamble there because of the high house edge. That fails to acknowledge that they are getting lottery tickets, reward points, 50% referral commission, 4% interest on balances and the faucet paid for out of that. You have to weigh the whole package up to make a comparison. Crypto-Games is a very competitive package. 0.8% House Edge, Faucet, Rainbot, 25% of house edge referral commision and progressive jackpot on dice (currently 3.25BTC). Well, for freebitco.in it would be a bad idea to actually gamble there, especially when you want to deposit to gamble on their dice game. All those extra's they're offering are useless if you just want to play the dice game. In those cases it's better to just deposit to Crypto-Games for example. Great news actually! I've been a member on Steemthat for a couple of weeks and I have to say that I'm impressed with what you have to offer. It's a great way to get some community support on your recently posted articles.
If you need a community manager here on Bitcointalk, I'm open for offers ;-) I'm @daan on Steemit and Steemthat.

Well, about translations, it will be hard for new members like yourself to get or to reserved projects because most of them look for translators who have experience and have proof of it such as in portfolio. Maybe as a newbie start by joining a signature campaign. If you are looking for a legit campaign, before joining in a certain project make sure that you read its background, read about its goals and objectives that will help you see if it has the potential to be successful. Goodluck and welcome in this community. Before you join bounty campaigns you should read more articles about bitcoin and about the how to do translation thing you should try to make translations from different languages and look for the perfect translation bounty for you. Some translation bounties required their translators to have the best quality translation in that case you need to study everything first.
It doesn't have to be that hard if you're willing to put in some extra work for it. I'm 100% sure that campaigns would hire you if you could just give them a solid example of your work. Offer to do a partial translation as a test, if it's good they'll most likely hire you. Especially if you charge less than other translators. Every translator here on this forum had to start somewhere, you just have to apply for many offers.

The majority of people are saying that a more secure wallet is that you place your wallet because they've experienced how secure you are to their proposal. I'm absolutely sure that the coinbase is secure as well because my bitcoins are not missing and I often use an ether wallet and what most people suggest is that I'm also safer because they have the experience they are using.
I have no doubt that Coinbase is probably one of the most secure exchanges out there, but the argument you make (my bitcoins have always been safe there) is a shaky one. It'll always be safer to be in control of your own coins, preferably by using a hardware wallet. Exchanges can always disappear or get into legal trouble, however low the chances may be.

You should have added the option to vote for multiple exchanges, but that's just my opinion. If I had to choose one, I'd have to go with Kraken. I've been using them since 2013 and never had any issues.
I've had to contact support a couple of times and they've always helped me straight away.
They don't support that many coins though, so you'd still have to use Kraken in combination with other exchanges to get access to more altcoins.

Pretty amazing that your mother still wanted to invest in Bitcoin after hearing about the risks. You should have asked her to join you in the video too, now it's just you talking about it.
I've also invested some money in Bitcoin for my dad, I guess he was tired of seeing all the news about Bitcoin and wanted in as well.

Well, there are a couple of different possibilities of what might have happened.
You might have logged into a phishing website and hackers acquired your login data that way. Or you have malware on your PC, perhaps a keylogger or something else.
Never install any software if you're not sure that the source is safe.

Aside from the design, I would also try to include some basic filtering of posts. It would be really useful if you could filter articles per keyword.
I don't really mind a minimalist design like yours, but now it kind of empty and it still needs some work.

I'm not planning to cash mine out, but I do have the private keys to my Electrum wallet if I want to claim them in the future. That said, I really don't see the need for a fork of Litecoin and I will not be using it.
Same with Bitcoin Cash and other Bitcoin forks.
