2301  Other / Meta / Re: The nicest Bitcointalk topic [Competition] on: February 08, 2018, 12:35:03 PM
For me it's definitely the Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Campaigns thread made by Mitchell.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0

I really like the design of that topic, very clear and you don't have to spend a lot of time to find what you want.
2302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the correct etiquette, when discussing a new coin ? on: February 08, 2018, 12:13:51 PM
You can just make a thread in the Announcements (Altcoins) section, you can decide for yourself how detailed you want to make it.
Here's a link to that board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

You can also bump your thread every 24 hours, any more than that will be regarded as spam.
This doesn't mean you can't answer questions of course, just not bumping for the sake of bumping.

You can use this board for specific discussion about the coin, anything that doesn't fit into the announcement board.
Just try to put some effort in your posts and you'll be fine, good that you ask these questions before posting!
2303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How the Banks Will Take Over BTC on: February 08, 2018, 11:48:36 AM
Yeah I'm not sure if it's such a bad thing if governments regulate Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in the same fashion as regular fiat currency.
In fact, it's one of the only ways that I see Bitcoin get further ahead towards mass adoption.

I'm glad though that you gave a well rounded explanation without resorting to conspiracy theories, even though you might not be right 100%.
2304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin driving others on: February 08, 2018, 11:27:40 AM
Most of the cryptos are tied with bitcoin's price directly because all of them are traded mainly against bitcoin rather than fiat so when bitcoin will get dumped people will start to sell their other alts for bitcoin to sell bitcoin in panic. And vice versa when bitcoin start to surge, they will start investing their bitcoin back to alts so that they can increase their total bitcoin.

This is the right answer, Bitcoin is very often used as a base pair for trading against other altcoins.
Some exchanges are now starting to also use Ethereum as a base pair, but Bitcoin is still the most dominant one.

You really should check BTC USD and ETH markets via Coinmarketcap, there are subtle differences in price spikes and drops when you compare them.
2305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: please help me seriously to leave gambling ???? on: February 08, 2018, 11:11:44 AM
No one can help you except yourself, it should start from your own mind to stop gambling. Our suggestions will be useless if you have no intentions to stop. Find a good reason why you have to stop and start throw away anything related to gambling from your mind. I know it is very hard but it is not impossible if you really have good reason to stop.

Really bad advice there, it's pretty clear that OP cannot help himself, otherwise he wouldn't be in this mess to begin with.
OP needs professional help, find yourself a good therapist, preferably one who has experience with gambling addiction.

You might say that it's too expensive, but if you have spent 10 BTC in the last 2 years, then you can also afford a therapist.

You can't fix this alone OP, get help

Hi, new token, so gamble category fits best Smiley

working on a token, not ready to share any details yet, but I figured will put a call out see if can get some donations towards contract deployment fees and such.  In return for support, the early sponsors (if any Smiley of course) will be granted voting tokens on the next contract (yes that one is also only in development stages Smiley), and some tokens, of course, for this primal (and rare) release

thank you

There's a lot of new opportunity now in cryptos who will people grab the opportunity to earn big amount of money. Opportunities in cryptos is what people looking for now. Because cryptos income now is the most popular source of income especially in bitcoin. This all people looking for now. They are all interested because of the very good income. We just know this now because of bitcoin volatility especially when the price is very high.

What does this even mean? You haven't even responded directly to OP and you basically just write some generic nonsense.

Why on earth would anyone donate to you? You can't even write a decent proposal and expect people to just donate you some ETH, for what?
Here's a good tip for you: work on your project and think about funding later, after you've got something tangible to show for it.

Also, you can't expect people to invest if you don't put in some of your own funds.
2307  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Addiction? on: February 07, 2018, 10:12:33 PM
Maybe a little bit, but in my case I wouldn't call it addiction, I can also quit whenever I want (an addict would say that though :p )
No, but seriously, I also have binges of a couple of days in a row that I'm just glued to my screen trading or researching new interesting projects.

The thing is, I know when I have to get other stuff done too and I don't really mind putting my crypto related 'work' on hold, even for a couple of days or longer.
2308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to 3rd world countries on: February 07, 2018, 09:54:06 PM
Government of third world countries are not open minded to blockchain technology.
Imagine how many people blockchain technology could easily lift out of poverty if only
the these third world Government embrace Blockchain technology. God will help us all.

Very short-sighted answer, 'blockchain technology' as you call it, does not magically remove poverty from the world or a country.
It could be used to give people some form of basic income, but it all depends on how it's implemented.

If countries would use some form of blockchain based cryptocurrency, you can be pretty sure that it's just going to be the perfect way to monitor people's transactions on a grand scale.
2309  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My Crypto rules on: February 07, 2018, 06:29:49 PM
These are good tips for traders who have the intent of just selling everything for a profit in fiat.

For people like me, most of these tips are not really ones I would follow.
I have purchased Bitcoin and some altcoins many times during ATH's, I never regret it because I'm not looking to convert them back into fiat.

Sure, it's a lot cheaper to buy coins in dips like this, just because I can buy more, but it doesn't deter me from buying during an ATH.
2310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not make a token for online games? on: February 07, 2018, 05:40:30 PM
I've never heard about Experience Coin, but Gamecredits are pretty well known.

I think Gamecredits are doing exactly what you're describing and they're pretty far along with their project.
There are already a couple of games that support Gamecredits out of the box, no AAA titles though.

I'd suggest you check out their project before starting your own ICO.
2311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Gov gives cryptocurrency the green light - markets respond with an $83 billio on: February 07, 2018, 05:26:12 PM
Is it completely certain that this has something to do with the sudden increase in marketcap?
I would have expected this outcome regardless of whatever news came out, I think people just jump on the opportunity to buy cheap coins.

That said, it's amazing how much influence governments can have on the price, if this is indeed the sole reason for the price increase.
2312  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you ready to exchanges switch-off during massive dump? on: February 07, 2018, 10:35:12 AM
As the main exchanges were online during the last dump (19.6k to 6.2k per bitcoin), it makes me think that they wanted people to sell. It makes me bullish as for the future prices.

But the question is still in place. If the price drop will be caused by relatively unpredicted and unfavorable by exchanges reasons (Tether fall for example), I still think that they will be closed for a while (some of them for purpose, some of them due to overload)

What do you think, what they will do during the Tether fall?

While it is true that some exchanges have been known to shutdown during sudden price drops, I don't think it's a general thing

source: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/bitcoin-value-latest-trading-suspended-exchange-crash-cryptocurrency-investment-a8126116.html

I would think that most exchanges are better prepared for it now, most of them have been upgrading their server infrastructure after the massive influx of new users before New Year.
You can't be completely certain that some of them are doing it on purpose or not, but I guess it's a possibility.
2313  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptocurrency Arbitrage App - beta on: February 07, 2018, 10:19:47 AM
Thanks. Fees are still work in progress. problem is... fees are often excluded from the public api. How did you go about fetching the data?

When I wrote my first trade lib, my concept was simple to create an order and then call a method that returns the fee for this order. Since most exchanges don't have an API method for this, the exchange interface module usually calculated the amount.

Today, I realized that speed is the key to most arb strategies, so this method is simply too slow. So I usually just use a worst-case guestimation, so the trade will result in profit in any case.

I don't think trade fees are important part of the equation, since 0.50 % is highest i've seen them go. The average is .25.. so we can speculate Smiley

On the other hand.. deposit and withdrawal options and fees can be very decisive factor

I agree with this, it's very little trouble to go and check that out for yourself before you try to do arbitrage with the info presented on your website.
That said, I really think this is very valuable information and I really commend you for listing it on your website for free.

Arbitrage seems to be pretty profitable again with these enormous price swings, depending on wwhat exchanges you choose.
2314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is now banned in JAMAICA on: February 06, 2018, 11:02:01 PM
This one is pretty easily debunked, just do a simple Google search and you won't find any recent results of this so called "news".
I really wonder why someone even tries to post something like this without a single source  Roll Eyes

2315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: By what percentage did your assets go down to during January? on: February 06, 2018, 07:37:50 PM
Down? the amount of coins that I have went up, I've long given up on checking how much profit in USD I've made.
The amount of Bitcoin and other altcoins that I have in my posession is all what counts for me.

I'm pretty glad that we're seeing these prices again, had been hoping to buy some coins for less than 10k  Grin
2316  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are now down 70% and still dropping on: February 06, 2018, 05:36:25 PM
do not lose hope buddy
many believe, this is a very natural thing in this crypto world, maybe this is called the main risk of bitcoin
I myself, had predicted this would happen, when I first jumped, and I was ready with this risk
do not panic then sell, hold your coins, bitcoin will return to normal in a few moments, just need to wait
moments? or months? or maybe years to get back to 20 k again

So what? It also took years to get back over $1000 after Mt Gox imploded, but it did happen in the end.
I'm fairly certain that this time 'round it will happen a lot faster than in those days, but things need to calm down first.
2317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does crypto market decline affect your gambling? on: February 06, 2018, 12:58:11 PM
Well yeah, it does affect my bet sizings on certain games I play, but other than that, no.
I think the amount of fees I'd have to pay to send a deposit has more of an affect than the sudden drop in price.

I had switched over to Litecoin for the most part, just because transactions were so slow and fees were too high for my taste.
2318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A blessing in disguise... on: February 06, 2018, 12:42:00 PM
In general, it's always a good idea to buy coins when they're cheap, although I prefer to start buying when I see a clear uptrend again.
Aside from that, I think it's pretty stupid to trust your intuition and make predictions about when prices are going up again.

It's always better to stick to the facts and make calculated decisions instead of relying on what you 'feel'.
2319  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I watched my $5000 metamorphose to $2075 :( on: February 06, 2018, 10:21:02 AM
Are you drunk?? Or you just want to make more posts and topic to increase your total activity?? Bitcoin was around $5k in october, and it reach above $6k early november, and start rally mid november so how could you said that you lost half of it?? I buy half of my bitcoin at that time around and sold it when price reached below $10k but i still got altcoins and so far when the price coming back, i haven't lose shit because all my investment was just back to square one to the price where i bought it at the first. I suggest you look for reality before you post anything, even you can analyze it at coinmarketcap
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/

my dear Einstein friend... why you would you even think that I bought $5000 worth bitcoins in one transaction? i bought in different times first in sep/oct and then at $8000, then $13000 and also at $15000. More you did not read I mentioned I did try to trade some coins here and there which contributed to my total loss. BTW as of today i lost even more now at $1645 Smiley

Honestly, I think the best option in your case is just to keep those coins and forget you have them for at least a couple of months, even years.
If you keep checking how much you've lost, you might be tempted to sell them at a loss one day.

It's likely that Bitcoin will again reach or surpass it's former value, but you will have to wait quite a bit for that to happen.
2320  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ 10 coins ★ Since 2014 ★ 7 games ★ Jackpot ★ Highest Faucet on: February 05, 2018, 04:25:07 PM
Since we'll delist GRC, we decided to add new coin: GAS

That's pretty good news, Gridcoin's market volume was a bit too low for my taste anyway, gas seems to be doing a lot better in that regard.
Gas is looking to be a good coin for low value roulette/slot/BJ/videopoker bets as well.

Are you still going to keep Peercoin listed? Seems to be in kinda the same boat as Gridcoin (low volume), but perhaps it is used more often on CG? I just find it handy for playing roulette, the bet sizing is perfectly small enough for me.
Peercoin will stay. GRC is having constant troubles with wallet for more than two years.

Good to hear that, it's definitely the best coin if you want to bet for lower values on games other than dice.
I've got to say that I've been using Crypto-Games more as an actual exchange lately, while also playing a bit of course.

I think I'd rather use this than Poloniex or Bittrex in some cases, just because of the ability to adjust the fee for example.
