2301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How gambling sites can cheat you on: February 07, 2019, 11:55:40 PM
None of the reputed websites like cloudbet, anonbet, sportsbet, etc.* did anything like that in the past with their customers.
--snip--

* - used those names as an example.

On a quick note, I'd like to alert all users on cloudbet's current case where they've been accused of not paying BTC330 to the user who deposited about ~BTC130 (round figure) and then got their account closed for no reason by cloudbet. Investigation in this matter is being carried on here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5106313.0

Why I posted this?
In no means, I'm degrading the values and morale of cloudbet, but I just wanted to take my words back and let the users know that they are at risk even while gambling at the most reputed and trusted gambling sites on the planet. Doing your due diligence is needed before using these sites with huge bankroll.
2302  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to find a mentor for trading on: February 07, 2019, 11:37:13 PM
How do I find a mentor that has lots of experience doing this stuff?

Your personal experience is your best mentor in almost everything, so learning a lot, piling it all up and using that knowledge to gain something extraordinary (above just results alone) be it trading or real life challenges.

As well, what makes Chipmixer standing ahead is its PWYW (Pay What You Want)* fee model where they give the buyer an opportunity to decide what they wish to pay for the service they're getting, isn't that cool?

2304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question on METAMASK on: February 07, 2019, 10:52:32 PM
To import, you'll either need your private key or that key in JSON format, you can choose either. I don't see anything fishy here as far as involvement of metamask is concerned. Still it's your choice to go for it (as you worked for it) or not (thinking that you don't have proper knowledge of metamask and so, could take any wrong step). This probably looks a verification mandate by bounty officials, don't really understand as to why they do it like that and complicate the process, it's not wrong but for a few (like you who questioned about it straight and others too) it'd make them think that there could be a possibility of a wallet hack.
I'm curious on one thing:
When you've worked for them already, why do they even need some ETH as gas from you, to pay you? Isn't it their responsibility to pay that?

Just out of curiosity, are you OP's personal assistant or hired lawyer?  Tongue Roll Eyes  Grin

Feel free to direct this question to the OP.

Nope, the way you reply already shows that you're an important part of OP in real life as you feel peeved away whenever I ask OP to show everyone their proof of deposit and trustworthiness on their issue.

Quote
Regarding signed messages. He does not have to because you asked him to, simple as that. What will it achieve? How does it help him? He has stated clearly above ^^^, that if Cloudbet should request it, and it resolves this matter once and for all, he will co-operate.

At least that signed message will prove his innocence and truth as well as help others by being stopped to play over there with such huge amounts as cloudbet used to be one of the most trustworthy sportsbetting sites where many players could trust to put their huge stack of coins. But after this gets confirmed and they are found guilty for real, who would be stupid enough to go and gamble there? It's not understandable here that why both the parties are playing crazy? At least one should pile up all the proofs, show them up and get this accusation come to a "Happy ending".
2306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please register/login before buy/sell anything from Bitcointalk forum. on: February 07, 2019, 05:00:14 PM

@OP, How the user is protected , if the  some user decided to scam for very first time?
In that situation its not so easy for a new user to commit scams. I beleive no one going to make deals with a newbie user who haven't got  enough experience & reputation yet.

I believe you misunderstood @r1s2g3 statement, let me clear you. What he's trying to say is, what if the user trying to scam is the first scam attend could be a legendary user or any rank, that's to say the user doesn't have a warning red tag on his account how then is the guest user protected if he can see trust score.

In conclusion, he's saying we shouldn't depend on the trust system but take matters into our own hands and protect our funds by doing some research before trading with any user on forum.

That's why DYOR or Do Your Own Research is used as a phrase to caution everyone even when hiring for an escrow, as after those escrow scams that shook the whole forum community, everyone here needs to be extra cautious about conducting any such trades here or anywhere. The fact is, we don't really know the intentions of the opposite party as and when we want to trade with them, so it's better to go for trusted ones only and not choose even less trusted over them.
2307  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cloudbet not responding for my 330 BTC withdrawal on: February 07, 2019, 03:59:01 PM
Not everybody wants their addresses and transactions published publicly on internet forums. Its not a matter of being brainwashed, its a matter of choice for whatever reasons and should be respected. Anyways, lets wait and see how Cloudbet responds.
It make sense. OP then can ask help from someone in the forum who is at-least  a member in this forum to create an investigation topic in the investigations board. He can then give him the TXs and signed message so that the other guy can post it on behalf of him.

I will be more than happy to create one topic for him to post those TXs and signed messages if he wants. Only the forum members who are at-least Member (rank) can see that topic.

Cloudbet has already acknowledged the OP both on here and on askgamblers.com. They don't deny the deposits were made. The deposits are not the issue here, the problem is with his withdrawal. So why do you want to open a separate investigation into whether the OP indeed made the deposits?

Cloudbets are asking for proof of ownership for the account, not for the deposit. Lets stay focused here. They have received every piece of document they requested. The account has 2fa enabled, and withdrawals need email confirmations, so what is the problem?

Why OP shouldn't provide with a message signed from that exact deposit address and give tx IDs? What's stopping them? I understand the fact that they're rather interested in staying anonymous with their transactions, but then, they came here (on this so-called internet forum only) in order to take help and ask cloudbet by opening a scam accusation against them. We're not really investigating the interrogator himself, it's just that if they just show the tx and a signed message from the same address, it'll put cloudbet under the red light (which they already are, after their shady behavior).

Just out of curiosity, are you OP's personal assistant or hired lawyer?  Tongue Roll Eyes  Grin
2308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How "Escalator" and "Elevator" be compared in an example about Bitcoin? on: February 07, 2019, 03:17:47 PM
It's going to take a long time before bitcoin price growth looks like that of an Escalator, maybe a market cap of $1 trillion will do the trick.
A market cap of $1trillion how realistic  do you think that can be in the nearest future considering the current amount of the market cap and also in my opinion the market cap don't have to reach that amount before bitcoin recover

Don't say that, Bitcoin used to be less than a buck when launched but is currently trading at $3365 (at the time of writing this), though it came down from an enormously high valuation of $20k but it reached there at least. Why not in near future? If BTC goes back to that level (with stability of course), alts will follow back and we were almost nearing $1 trillion market cap before the freefall began early 2018. I would like to see it reaching$1 trillion in global (full) crypto market cap instead of just for BTC alone.

Bazinga442 - There have been several people from different territories contacting us via different channels to claim ownership of the account, with varying degrees of evidence provided. That's about as detailed as I can be without disclosing private information about the account in question unfortunately.

I'll post an update ASAP.

Thanks,

Ronnie @ Cloudbet

Can you provide an evidence that when exactly were you being contacted by users claiming that specific account to be theirs? Is our system so obsolete and easy to be beaten up when users still have got 2fa as well as an email set in their account? Why did you cancel OP's bet he made on SuperBowl? What was the specific reason to do that and how can anyone else other than OP knew about that bet and the win when it was done in private? So there doesn't stand a chance of anyone else contacting you to claim ownership of that account at first place.

@OP,
As others said, there's nothing to hide here and signing message doesn't really need anyone's (especially cloudbet's) concerns but it should be your priority to give it immediately as it'll help you a lot in your case here and cloudbet will be proven (somehow) guilty trying to steal away your wins.
2310  Economy / Economics / Re: Current Market state on: February 07, 2019, 12:20:11 PM
Bitcoin slid 3.3% due to the news that CBOE withdrew its VanEck/SolidX ETF application, but I believe we're safe from the panicking sentiments of market-makers currently due to the fact that CBOE refiled an application with changes according to the requirement of a new rule proposed by SEC. I think that this ETF issue looks to being over hyped. As well, QuadrigaCX CEO died in an Indian hospital in Jaipur, leaving everyone fruitless as with him, died all the passwords of the wallets where INR 1000 Crore (avg. CAD $190 million) of investors and company claimed they won't be able to continue running the platform and pay their workers. And from the trading point of view, major traders are forecasting a huge probability of BTC going near $2000 to set new lows before a major bull run takes place.
2311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Indian government is worried that cryptocurrencies may destabilise the rupee on: February 07, 2019, 06:11:49 AM
The thing is, India are known for corruption in their government and they use the current Banking system and cash as a tool to hide their corruption. A technology like Bitcoin with a transparent Blockchain will make it more difficult for them to hide corruption and they obviously know that.

I'm from India as well, I'm not offended by your words but let me remind you that most of the Govs in each country are there to fill their own pockets. Indian Gov is not just using cash and Banks here, but they are putting their "black money" outside the country (mostly in "SWISS" Banks) in order to remain safe if a raid gets conducted at their premises and they are even using crypto themselves for the same money-hiding (or I should say money-laundering) purpose. It's not hidden that most of the politicians (whether corrupt or not) are involved in cryptocurrency investments themselves, or just think as to what is stopping them from banning crypto here? They're now playing positive and coming up with some possible regulations (but fuck regulations, I'm loving Bitcoin the way it is now).

Quote
They are also in control of the money supply of their local reserve currency, so manipulation of the value of the reserve currency will be undermined if Bitcoin is allowed to flourish.  Angry

How exactly can that be the scenario?
Did US lose after allowing its citizens to use BTC? Nope, it's gaining only in its value. I don't understand what makes them think that use of Bitcoins would either destabilize or narrow down the value of the major (reserve) currency when, if used properly and gained more in proportion to other countries, can only let the local currency shine. I don't think Bitcoin is too big yet to make such disastrous harms to our local reserve currency and it really needs an extremely huge market cap for that to happen.

2312  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to get SegWit addresses starting with a "3" in Electrum? on: February 06, 2019, 03:17:30 PM
I'm only getting "Extend Seed" option in it, nothing else.
Does it have anything to do with the version I'm currently using?
Are you using the Android version? If so, this doesn't support importing BIP39 seeds... only the desktop version of Electrum (Windows, MacOSX and/or Linux) support importing BIP39 seeds

You got it right, I was in my office and was doing it in my smartphone.
I installed Electrum in my Windows PC and it worked like a charm.
Now, I've got to know a few things I'd like to share and even know more about (by asking):

When I checked "BIP 39 seed", I saw this:

Does it caution me that it may not be useful in future versions of Electrum? What would happen if BIP 39 won't be supported in upcoming upgrades of Electrum? And why BIP 39 doesn't meet their safety criteria?

Ok, after this step is completed, it asks you to select one out of these 3 options:

Legacy (1st option) will not get you a SegWit wallet, don't go for it.
P2sh SegWit (2nd option) will get you addresses that will start with a 3.
Native SegWit (3rd option) will get you bech32 addresses, you can go for it if you want a wallet whose addresses will start with bc1.

@HCP,
One important thing, as you know that BTC had many forks adding its name as a major brand to it (like BCH, Bitcoin Gold and many others), will these P2SH and Native SegWit addresses also contain those forked coins and will we be able to claim them or Legacy addresses will be needed for this?

2314  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Warning: There is an ongoing phishing attack against Electrum users on: February 06, 2019, 08:59:58 AM
I didn't say that you should never download anything from Github... I said you should "only download Electrum from the official website" and not from github. Besides, AFAIK, there are NO Electrum binary releases available on the official Electrum github anyway... they only have the source code available for download on the "releases" tab.

So, any Electrum binaries on Github are NOT official releases.

Aren't releases made over GitHub by Electrum's official devs fine to be downloaded? I know that either repositories can be cloned and/or hubs with fake account names may be created with exact Electrum wallet name that could drag someone into being scammed, but what about their official GitHub? And if newer versions are such dangerous, why can't we use older versions instead (obviously if there are no bugs and we're fine using them)?
If I'm not wrong, GitHub consists all older version files as well and they can be downloaded and used, so why go for updated versions when we feel no need or when knowing that such hack issues are taking place? How can an application like Electrum pop up instructions which are not even set by their devs? Can a hacker really be this rational in hacking even the servers behind that official app to throw some air in his malign intentions?
2315  Bitcoin / Electrum / How to get SegWit addresses starting with a "3" in Electrum? on: February 06, 2019, 07:34:57 AM
I got a post (quoted below) and followed it:

You can buy Bitcoins with LocalBitcoins.

As a wallet, use Electrum with a Segwit address for lower fees. For now, I recommend to use a nested P2SH Segwit address instead of the bech32 format created by Electrum. So that's what you should do:

1. Go to iancoleman's BIP39 seed generator[1] (optional - download the source code and run offline for better security);
2. Select 12 words and generate a new seed;
3. SAVE THIS SEED AND DON'T LOSE IT! You can't see it again in Electrum and without the seed you can't restore your wallet in the future;
4. Download Electrum[2];
5. While creating the wallet, select: Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> Paste the seed from step 2.
6. Click Options -> check "BIP39 seed" -> Next.
7. In the Derivation part, paste m/49'/0'/0'/0 and click next.
8. Now you have an Segwit wallet with addresses starting with 3.

[1] https://iancoleman.io/bip39/
[2] https://electrum.org/

Now, I'm here to ask a few things.
I tried to follow every step @TryNinja, but every time (whether going for a 24 word seed or a 12 word one), it doesn't allow me to click "Next" after filling out the seed completely while followi step #5. I'm confused as to why isn't it working for me? What's stopping it to allow me to go ahead to perform other steps?
2316  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [HODL] My shitcoin fund Aim is x100 minimum on: February 06, 2019, 05:03:05 AM
Just created myself a $100 shitcoin fund on binance.

I chose the most shittiest of shitcoins which are down %95+ from their ATH price and some arguably good ones. Let's see how much I am able to rip others off. Unless I see a parabolic rise I won't sell any of these. And If I see all going ballistic, that means the bull has come.

Great strategy here, but even if all the coins are currently standing still, it doesn't mean the bull run is yet to come as many other coins (even shittier than the ones you chose) have pumped, so we can't really say there's nothing bullish, but it's just that they go high and come back to the levels they started from; so for bullish confirmation, all such coins need to remain stable after reaching high values.

Quote
Chose 8 coins and put $10 on each. Actually put $10 on 7 of them but then I couldn't find a shittycoin with an incredibly high supply so I put the rest on BTT. Justin Sun's newest scam.

I'd rather choose 5 over 8 and go with $30-$50 in each of them with full confidence as their values are so deeply manipulated that oversold is what I'm seeing in each of these coins (be it a standard or shitcoin). Justin somehow influences the whole market by coming up with a new scheme every now and then, don't know how he convinces investors to put money in his stupid projects. BTT is surely going to rip off many pants after they put all their funds in it and then dump happens. I think this will be huge just like TRX and then, steal away everyone's money by dumping over those entering at highs.

Quote
Q: Why haven't I bought shits like ETH, BSV, BCASH, IOTA, *XRP?
A: Even when I am shopping for shit, I try to buy them cheap. Those shits are still overpriced so I ignored them.

*Bought XRP at first but then I realized the mistake so I dumped it and got VET instead.

Saw that you bought HOT, but why not Pundi X?
This shitcoin lost more than 1/10 its ATH in BTC and ETH. It's a great and super cheap deal and the team is really hardworking and active, they don't let their users lose confidence out of it.
BSV or BCASH - Both are definitions of bullshit and I hate Bitcoin Cash badly after that conflict between those 2 mentally retard guys. ETH is good, but will take a lot of time to scale as well as gain in value, it's actually a risky one ATM in my views. XRP is such a bankshit that real Bitcoiners would never go for such a centralized crypto (it's not even a crypto IMHO), just leverage over it and earn, don't trade it over Binance, not much gains.

It truly depends on the intention of an OP whether he/she truly wants a debate or just want to increase his/her post count just to earn an extra penny from their campaign.

2318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Worried about quality posting, this may help on: February 05, 2019, 03:34:50 PM
I decided to make this post out of a question i saw someone asking and I think it's been the problems of majority of newbies as those who introduce them to crypto and forums mainly do so for bounty hunting and newbies are required to explore the forum themselves. Anyway it's good to learn on your own but sometimes a little help is needed. I am no expert ir senior member here but I've been here for some good time.

Nobody, and I mean it, nobody needs to be an expert but just need experience to share what they've learnt.

Quote
- First of all, never think about posting for a merit, just post anything you find qualitative and it'll fetch you if it deserves. Becoming obsessed may influence your posts either negative or positive.

Truly agree with this one, and only choose the right niche you're good at and post there only (as well as learn other niches as well before posting there).

Quote
- Always read something from the Meta and Bitcoin discussion boards from time to time- you'll find out what the forum doesn't need and what it needs there.

Beginners and Help is the second thing after Meta that newbies need to hop into, to know more about what and why they are here for; as well as the rules they need to abide.

Quote
- Don't try learning from the boards with high volume posts (Altcoin discussion to be specific)- you may find so many repeated posts and suggestions and also there are few posts there that educate you.

That's not true, even high volume boards have got some hidden high quality content but that needs efforts to be looked into, it's true that repetitive posts may be seen there but there surely may be good posts if the OP really continues the debate with better questions. To break your dream of getting great replies in a low volume thread, here's an example - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5106354.0
2 reasons for that -
- Question had been asked many times before.
- Answers are repetitive and stupid just so you can find in previous threads which I mentioned in that thread.

Quote
- Read from boards with less volume, you find adequate analysis of issues there from the indigenous forum members.

Above explanation applies here.

Quote
- Assess yourself from the type of people replying your posts and the type of messages they send (if you find members of higher ranks replying and analysing your posts, trust me you're making quality posts)- don't think having less merits is because you're not posting "sensibly."

Not necessarily, sometimes even high rank members post bullshit replies and low rank members conquer the grounds by giving a high quality comment.

Quote
- Also if you find a member who make good posts (that's from your judgment), follow that person- read the type of posts he/she makes and lesrn from that.

Reading and following is fine, copying them isn't.
Plagiarism is banned here, it was necessary to say this as the way you said it, may mislead some to go off track.
2319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How "Escalator" and "Elevator" be compared in an example about Bitcoin? on: February 04, 2019, 03:31:11 PM
In England "elevators" are blocks that you put in shoes to make small people look taller. There is nothing small about Bitcoin.

In India (where I live) and many different countries, Elevator means a lift to take people to upper or lower floors. I didn't say that anything is small in Bitcoin, BTC is something too large a thought anyone can ever have in their mind. I've used the terms very carefully, I never knew that I'll also need to demonstrate the meanings country-wise.

For your money making purposes, I believe we've now got Futures and soon, Bakkt will also join the line in providing higher liquidity to this and many more crypto-assets. I'm not saying that Bitcoin's price increase is something I'm against of, but I need it a bit steady rather than gaining everything overnight (Bitcoin took less than a year to gain more than 20x) and I know that many stocks and assets gave even greater returns than it, but for Bitcoin to be one of its kind styled masterpiece, it should be liked as well as used by everyone. For that, I don't really see why anyone would not agree with steady gains. You're right that it gains very quick and we should enjoy this elevated volatility in the velocity, but then they aren't gains alone and we also see the price correct much more quicker than the increase. I'm not saying that Bitcoin should not make a new ATH, but making steady gains like $100-$200 increase in value every month is fine than going straight $500-$1000 up and then everyone talking about bottoms below $1800. Just think, you've got a chicken that gives golden eggs everyday, would you enjoy selling them at a steady pace and earning through that chicken or would you just cook that chicken and eat it out?
