241  Economy / Trading Discussion / What's the best way to encourage donations in BTC? on: December 11, 2013, 09:20:08 PM
Hi,
Since I've discovered a BTC fundraising widget,I just thought that I'd get it out there so that people can help me find the best way to encourage donations to help me keep my travel blog running.I'm looking for advice tailored to my blog and which aspects (content) can help?

I'm also looking for several volunteers to test out the widget so I can make sure it works properly before promoting this in the wider world if at all possible. It seems to generate a QR code though.I'd also like some volunteers to help me promote this as well

Go to the support us page on film2240.blogspot.co.uk as I'd like a viable alternative to using PayPal (as my recieve money limit is quite low).I'm also looking into selling off adspace off there too (but that's a separate matter)

Since I feel that I have a lot to learn about best/successful practice in the BTC world about how to get more people donating/buying my services I thought that asking around would be a good idea.

242  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Will promote a message or link on my twitter feed on: December 11, 2013, 09:17:06 PM
That's great.Tell me more about what needs promoting? Is it a video, image, text link or a message? It's probably best to send the info via PM (be sure to mention this thread in the subject line so it'll be easier to find your messages.I get lots of (no subject) and it gets pretty confusing.)

Thanks Smiley

Edit:I forgot you made a query about pricing.Well the pricing is already listed. It differs depending on what kind of content you want me to advertise. So basically what you see is what you get.I hope this clears things up Smiley
243  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Barclays closing bank accounts related to Bitcoin on: December 11, 2013, 09:02:39 PM
I'm very glad I stumbled across this thread as my 2nd bank account is a Barclays one (and I have PingIt setup too. It's tied to my Barclays one).I don't use it as my main account so nothing gets lost if it's closed.

The reason I'm concerned is I've done several trades with BTC involving my barclays account (all exchanges from BTC to GBP) but does the act of using Mt Gox or a private seller like I've done recently (as Mt Gox is taking a long time to verify my ID) affect my Barclays account at all? Or am I worrying a bit too much? I'd appreciate some clearer guidance on this. Thanks Smiley
244  Economy / Services / Re: [Hiring] Blogger for bitcoinminerz.com $20 per blog submission on: December 11, 2013, 08:53:28 PM
I'd like to know more about what kind of content you want from bloggers who submit articles to your site?I'd be interested in knowing more and if it's possible how do I take part in this? Thanks Smiley
245  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Will promote a message or link on my twitter feed [available] on: December 11, 2013, 08:48:56 PM
Since I'm always on Twitter and would like to earn revenue from this,I thought that since people are looking to have their blogs, sites, services promoted that I'd love to help them (for a fee). I have over 160K followers currently. My twitter account has been around since February 2010 and have experience with Twitter. For BTC I'll promote 1 link, text, image or video 5 times on my feed for a fee.

I will promote most things but here's a list of a few things I can't cover:

1.Adult/NSFW content (as it's for general audiences)
2.Gambling (I will only promote this for an additional fee of 0.15BTC now)
3.Strong political views
4.Nothing hateful/racist/offensive,etc (as none of my followers will tolerate it.My goal is to help promote people, not offend others.)

I'm sure you're left wondering, what's the price (prices based on current BTC/LTC/DOGE values)?
1.For text,images and videos there is now a flat fee of 0.12BTC /500K DOGE/5LTC per day (5 tweets sent a day/per job)
2.Consultants fee only applies to larger projects and is based on the scale of the job (small jobs have this fee waived)
3.For the express tweet service the price is 0.35BTC per tweet as some people need to do the job more quickly than a normal campaign sometimes.
4.Extended reach add-on (for an additional fee.Pricing based on scale of the job or 0.25BTC additional fee per job.As more partners/methods get on-board,Extended Reach will be a tiered service as some people want a budget friendly option while others want to reach the biggest possible audience worldwide.)

What to do to make use of the service:

1.Contact me via PM with details of your project.
2.Supply me with the relevant message followed by links, images or videos in your tweet.
3.I'll then give you a quote.
4.If you accept the quote, you must pay all charges before work will start.

Updates:
1.Cleaned up this post (as the regular updates made this messy before)
2.Added new service options
3.Got rid of the deposit scheme as it's not needed anymore
4.Updated pricing

Thanks Smiley

247  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Show some bitcoin love to my friend, who is selling his debut album via bitcoin on: December 11, 2013, 08:28:08 PM
Thanks for posting that,I'll have a look. Also if you have a site, try the Bitcoin widget like I use on my travel blog as it could encourage more sales.Eg here http://film2240.blogspot.co.uk/p/support-us.html (the rest is just a journal of my adventures, adspace waiting to be sold and a few other things.)

If I find something I like I'll help OP out by giving a recommendation on my twitter feed Smiley
248  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for who's behind mybitcoinjob.com on: December 11, 2013, 03:08:36 PM
Sites like this profit by getting people to join, then setting a very high payout threshold, knowing 95%% of the users will signup once visit for a couple days and never come back. They get the revenue to pay those who do reach threshold through this model. So if you sign up 1,000 people, those thousand people do a couple offers each, but you only have to payout 50 people that actually had a network of people to reach their threshold.
I see.I've always wondered what business model was being followed.Well thanks to you, mystery solved Smiley
249  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable 'self-moderation' on: December 11, 2013, 12:46:48 AM
I say leave self moderation enabled as it is because this helps people like me be safer on this forum (if someone harasses you,not simply because they disagree with you, that's something else) since the mods don't seem to intervene enough anyway and I have every right to be safe online.

250  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for who's behind mybitcoinjob.com on: December 11, 2013, 12:35:25 AM
No offence, but as a hero member you are quite stubborn.  That site will not be paying you anytime soon.  What kind of idiot gives you $100 USD for signing up to a site?  And a couple of tens for getting one referral?

I also suggest you remove that ad from your signature, it won't do you good there.
Excuse me.How am I being stubborn?I find this offensive as you're making this allegation without proof. You decided to call me names instead of raising the issue diplomatically by saying that I find the signature a problem instead of attacking my general character which is rated highly by people who know me in real life/most places online.

I have not once said that I agree with what they're doing,in fact I think it's wrong for them to advertise something and not deliver.I'm already past the fact that they're not going to payout. The reason I haven't removed that sig is because I'm a very busy person (filmmaker) who doesn't spend his entire life on forums as most people have jobs or are in training schemes (like me to get into work) and therefore hardly have time to maintain my profile on here. Please withdraw this allegation against me as I have no interest in starting fights with people.

If I remove the offending signature, will you please withdraw this allegation and let me move on with my life?Thank you.

Edit:I purely made this thread to report observations not believe what they're saying. You really misunderstood my intention of this thread.I feel that their actions were suspicious and thought it was my duty to let others know what was going on.That's all.I think you read too much into this.

253  Economy / Services / Re: Need an item from the UK? I'll buy it, ship it, then you pay for it! [Worldwide] on: December 09, 2013, 04:19:24 PM
Since you're looking for an escrow,I'd like to offer an escrow service with 2% commission if interested.I am trusted by everyone I know in real life and am trusted by most people online (those that don't simply haven't traded with me at all yet).I hope this helps OP and the customers Smiley
254  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Adspace on my travel blog on: December 09, 2013, 04:15:45 PM
Ok.Looks like it's time to bump this thread as well as offer a discount for paying by Bitcoin.I'm offering 10% off the normal price (in addition to the promotional 20% discount which expires in January 2014) if you pay by BTC as I know that's what BTC enthusisasts/buyers want.

So as of today until 18th Decemeber 2013,paying by BTC will give you an extra 10% discount if you buy before then.

I must ask you advertisers a question, who doesn't want to advertise their business/site on a blog that often gets targetted, genuine traffic that is mostly guaranteed and from a person who is generally trusted by nearly everyone (both in real life and online)? If you want to take advantage of a good deal, now is the time to make the most of the discounts as they won't be around for long?

On top of this my signature is available for rent so please send me offers for this as well on here if interested.Whoever offers me the best rate on the most favourable terms get's my signature for a month or a year.
Thansk Smiley
255  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Adspace on my travel blog on: December 09, 2013, 10:50:22 AM
For BTC0.1 I'll give your blog a professional look.
That'd be nice but without selling off adspace (to replace Adsense as it got disabled and the appeal didn't work),I'd have no revenue to make that happen.

Which is why I'm selling off adspace so I can fund the improvements people want to see.Does this make sense now?No revenue means to improvements.I just thought that posting in the Bitcoin forums would just let people know that someone is selling off adspace and it would just help me make things happen just like they did for me at the House of Lords (for premiere of the film I edited,Sea of Change) on 3rd Decemeber 2013.

If anyone's interested, can they please come forward as I can't afford to sift through comments all day. Thanks Smiley
256  Economy / Services / [WTS] Adspace on my travel blog on: December 08, 2013, 08:07:28 PM
Hi,
I've wanted to do this for sometime but wasn't sure whether or not it's the right time but I've decided to take the plunge anyway.
I'm selling off ad slots for both BTC and via PayPal (more on that at another time) on my travel blog as I wish to fund some much needed expansion in terms of both content and the introduction of (possibly paid) guest writers to contribute content as I really do want it to go well.

Info about blog:
www.film2240.blogspot.co.uk
Traffic:Around 50 hits a day (will vary each day) meaning that you'll enjoy the benefits of a site with growing traffic as an advertiser.
Content:Travel related things such as documenting my adventures both around the UK/worldwide.
Requirements for content of ads:No adult/gambling whatsover as this blog is designed for family friendly viewing as I want to share content with everyone (families, kids, colleagues, general public, etc) All things related to travel like tourist attractions, places, travel services, airports, travel accessories, etc.Well basically anything related to travelling.

The price of the ads have a 20% off discount until January 2014 so if you want advertising for either a month or for a year,be sure to buy now as I can assure you that you won't see another offer like this.

How to buy:
1.Pick the slot numbers that you want to buy and the kind of slot as different types of slot have different pricing/visibility on the site (more prominent ads will cost more)
2.Choose how long you want to rent the ad slot for,1 month,a few months (specify the no of months you're after) or a 1 year term.
3.Message me via Twitter or via this forum post so I can then give you a BTC address to send payment to.
4.Send me the banner image and link with relevant text that you want to have shown in the ad.
5.When I recieve payment (and confirmed as BTC requires confirms before I get paid),your ad will appear as soon as possible
6.Enjoy.

Any questions or if you want to buy please post in this thread so it'll help me keep track of who's buying and those who just have queries.Don't send PMs if there's no intention to buy as it'll just confuse things for me.

Thanks Smiley

259  Economy / Economics / Re: The Coming Global Wealth Tax on: December 07, 2013, 12:00:13 AM
Hi,
It is definitely possible, look at Cyprus. :-)

They say it is one-off, but the article also says that only gets us to 2008 debt levels. So, if they can pull it off once, it will happen again, it will just be a question of when then..

:-)

I wonder if this is even possible.I also wonder if all my money in the bank will be gone in the UK thanks to the tax or just a portion of it?I heard that it's a one off tax from the article so hopefully they won't be too difficult.
Uh oh.Looks like we'll have a hard time then since all our money could be taxed eventually. There seems to be no way out of this. It'll either pay up or face consequences. Will this affect just multinationals or will it affect everyone, including me? Can't they find any other alternative to boost their economies instead of this global tax?
