Thank you, BurtW!

*John pops up from deep freeze Wink*

I am glad to see you back! Grin

Edit:

From his FB page, I think he left Tangible Crypto. I guess he had other stuff to do lately...

You are right! His FB account is inactive too!
242  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: any one tried buying mobile credits with bitcoin ? on: August 29, 2015, 06:02:52 PM
I have used Piiko, BitRefill and BitMoby. I liked BitMoby very much because of its zero-fee and great customer support. I have talked to them privately quite a few times. Gotta try Zebpay now! For users outside India, I would definitely recommend BitMoby. In India, either BitMoby or Zebpay.
Is Bitmoby app available for android mobile just like zebpay?

No. But their site is mobile-friendly.

243  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best exchange site? LTC to BTC? on: August 29, 2015, 06:01:11 PM
The best site for LTC/BTC trade is Btc-e.com. I'm surprised to see that no-one mention it yet. I don't really get why people suggest you low volume, untrusted sites. Btc-e is your best bet.

Agreed BTC-e is a great exchange and is the best for LTC volume. Shapeshift.io for small volume works amazingly well. Also people will say that BTCe is some how shady - all exchanges are shady, but I actually trust BTCe over most.

I agree! People say people behind BTC-e are anonymous and hence, we can't do anything if they steal. So they are less trustable. However, I don't understand how revealing personal information makes someone more trustable than an anonymous person, at least, history says so!
244  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitkey.io How safe and legit they are ? on: August 29, 2015, 05:57:27 PM
Their project is abandoned and nobody has reported any bug or backdoor AFAIK. I think you can use it! I recommend Tails or BackTrack.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I withdraw before downloading the whole blockchain? on: August 29, 2015, 05:20:59 PM
Export private key and sweep it. If you want to use that address, you will have to create a seedless wallet.

246  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone heard anything from/about DeathAndTaxes aka Gerald Davis? on: August 29, 2015, 05:15:18 PM
Why does such a mundane topic need to be a self-moderated thread?

Spams are high these days! I self-moderate almost all threads I create to delete spam posts.
247  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question about internet security on: August 29, 2015, 02:14:35 PM
I think you should use a VPN. That way all your internet traffic gets encrypted and it should not be possible to read your traffic. For example when someone fakes the wlan name you normally use.

I'm not sure though if it would still be easy for a hacker to get into your computer.

You should make sure the VPN you use does not store any information. If you are buying, I think you should go for https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/.
248  Other / Meta / Re: Deleted topic? on: August 29, 2015, 02:10:23 PM
Well, you must contact the mod who deleted your topic to restore it back.
 -snip-

No. AFAIK, only Global Moderators and Admins can restore the topic but all mods can see Trashcan board. I might be wrong!
249  Other / Off-topic / Anyone heard anything from/about DeathAndTaxes aka Gerald Davis? on: August 29, 2015, 11:59:35 AM
Hi! DeathAndTaxes aka Gerald Davis has not been active in the forum for a few months now. Has anyone heard about/from him? Any info appreciated! Thank you!
250  Local / India / Re: Bitcoin Resources - Consolidated List (India Specific) on: August 29, 2015, 11:50:24 AM
You should add Zebpay to 'Exchanges'.
251  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-27] Does XT make Mike and Gavin dictators? on: August 29, 2015, 11:44:50 AM
This debate is getting too political in my opinion. And I don't like that. XT side or core side, both have their shills and try to manipulate and influence the none technical which client and BIP is the better one.
 -snip-

It seems like you don't know what BIP is. BIP = Bitcoin Improvement Proposal. Its not a client.

Which site are you talking about?
253  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.2.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer U3 on: August 29, 2015, 11:30:54 AM
I am looking forward in getting gridseed 80 chip to mine scrypt coins!
Does version 5.2.0 (windows version built) support this if not then which version?

Reading description of Bfgminer, I am not sure if SCRYPT need being specified in software in order using gridseed!
Would great in knowing settings such in *.bat file
- enable scrypt support
- stratum plus other setting leading server, users.worker and password
- other setting that would recognize two blade of gridseed device

Run this in Command Prompt. You need to first open BFGMiner directory before running this or you should specify the path(eg:- D:\Bitcoin\bfgminer\bfgminer.exe <remaining parameters>).

Code:
bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool1:port -u worker -p password -o stratum+tcp://pool2:port -u worker -p password -S noauto -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=835

Someday that new forum will arrive guys

Will the ranks/activity not carry on over to the new forum?

Everything except passwords* will be carried to new forum software.

* There was a discussion on this and theymos or Epochtalk developer told they won't migrate passwords but I don't know the final decision.

Not to hijack the thread but do you remember where that was cited (*) mean the general topic.

Can't seem to find it myself unless it was in a github discussion thread or I skimmed over it on the forum but it does raise the question that it implies all accounts could be transferred over at that time with the activity and posts included but that would make sense, I may just open a new thread in the new forum discussion and get the question answered directly but wouldn't want to repeat it if its already posted somewhere so may as well ask here first.

As a confirmation, we're working really hard to make sure as much of the data is carried over. The only thing we can't carry over is passwords, so when you first log on to the new forum, you'll need to set a new password.

This will probably be done over email so make sure the email you have registered with THIS forum is your email and not ... say a burner email account like mailinator or something like that.
Mostly because we won't have access to it.
To prevent people from thinking, "This is a phishing site trying to steal my password!", the primary method of resetting your password will be email reset. A secondary (maybe slightly-hidden) method will be to use your current password. So you needn't worry about having an invalid email address now.

A valid email address might be required in the new software, though. I'm not sure about that yet.

P.S. Try using https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search next time onwards.
256  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: in the future bitcoin money exchange will be in india ??? on: August 29, 2015, 11:10:10 AM
http://btcxindia.com is the one of oldest bitcoin exchange in India , there are more exchanges , i probably dont remember the name but it is started by a Mod of Indian section "Bitcoinsamuels" , In future there gonna be more exchanges as i my friend is opening a franchise of xapo in India (New Delhi).

regards,

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=66510

Looks like for now you are stuck with ---> https://localbitcoins.com/country/IN  Angry Your country and it's laws are not very Bitcoin friendly and

it's very complex. I think your government is doing this to protect their own currency. {Rupee}

You guys need to raise awareness for the need to use Bitcoin there and get more people to use it. The exchanges will follow once the demand is

there. The demand will not grow, if the laws are not changed...  Sad

Laws are not Bitcoin-friendly but certainly not against Bitcoin. Indian Bitcoin users are growing. There has been quite a few meetups lately. When I checked Indian meetup groups, at least 1 new user is joining almost everyday.

My personal favourite is Poloniex. I have tried many sites but Poloniex seems different from other sites to me.

260  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Bitcoin-QT management on Mac on: August 29, 2015, 10:47:22 AM
Armory has option to point to Bitcoin-Qt/Bitcoind in settings. I have not used latest version (yet) but it should be there. IIRC, if Armory could not find Bitcoin-Qt/Bitcoind, it will show that option in home. Click 'change settings' and change the location.

--satoshi-datadir is used to point to the /blocks folder (holding the raw blockchain data), not the binary folder.

You are right! I overlooked it.
