1181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Permanently keeping the 1MB (anti-spam) restriction is a great idea ... on: June 18, 2015, 01:04:00 PM
I should just leave this here:

It's quite obvious that 1MB won't be enough pretty soon IMO. However, 20MB might be a bit too much at the moment. Although we might just end up discussing(wasting our time) again.
We are very near to seeing full blocks. It shouldn't take us much longer as we already have an average block size of 0.6MB.

We obviously need to increase block size. Many of them doesn't want to increase maximum size to 20MB is because most nodes will go down due to low space but I doubt we will reach 20MB in the near future. However, a limit was placed to prevent a few problems such as DOS and I think Bitcoin has still not overcome that problem. So I guess increasing block size to 8MB(which is accepted by most) would be good.

Is that the app that add "posted using" thing on each post that I saw on another user's post? Haven't downloaded it yet so, can it'll be disabled?

You can disable it.

I would like to try the app coz im always using mobile, is my account infos will be safe when logging in the app?

The developer is trustworthy, so I think you will be safe but I absolutely can't guarantee on behalf of the developer. Many users have used it and are still using it and there has not been any reports of hacks. Do your own due dilligence before logging in.

1183  Other / Meta / Re: Staff member dserrano5 promoting scam - should he remain with default trust? on: June 18, 2015, 10:49:52 AM
IMHO he should be removed from DefaultTrust trust list but should be allowed to remain in default trust depth 2.
1184  Economy / Lending / Re: [EDU] How to spot a scammer (Read this before lending your coins!) on: June 18, 2015, 10:27:53 AM
I have a question. maybe a suggestion

so, fewer people uses "no collateral no loan" policy now when high ranking/trusted members asks for a loan, and I saw this thread where somebody gave a loan to another user without realizing that the said user already have an active loan.
that got me thinking, why don't we try to prevent that kind of "accidents" by leaving a neutral feedback to whoever it is that is currently borrowing their money?

so, I'm asking everyone's opinion on this. is this a good idea or not? and what are the flaws?

This was already suggested by someone though I am not quite sure who was it.

This is a good idea and some people already started doing it. Only problem is we can't enforce everybody to leave neutral feedback upon lending.
1185  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bots vs. Humans - What's better for a signature campaign? on: June 17, 2015, 12:54:15 PM
Of course, humans.

In one recent incident involving a bot-managed signature campaign (Coinomat), it was found that some people were inserting invisible or barely visible characters into their posts to fool the bot into thinking that their posts went over the 75 character limit. This trick wouldn't have worked had there been a human manually counting and checking the posts instead.

Hidden characters like the ones on that posts are not easy to detect even by humans.

no. based on your posts. it's
time = 4 or 5 (I'm not sure which one)
this is because you didn't post anything on those 16/15 two weeks period. for example look at my profile, I registered on January 2014 but I'm not even a Hero rank because I was inactive for months

Got it.
So being active means i should make at least 1 post in 14 days.

At least 1 post in 14 days period. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0

At 6/23/2015 starts the next 2weeks period.
But what is the max post for me to not get banned?

There is no maximum post count. Only thing you need to care about is your post quality. As long as post quality is not low, you won't be banned for spam.

I just want to be sure that i have to post xx times to get the max activity points in these 2 weeks.
How often should i post to get the max activity points in two weeks?
That's all, thank you.

I might have misread your post previous time or you have not posted correctly.

You will need to post 14 times to get 14 points(14 is maximum activity points) in 14 days period.
1187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoins on: June 17, 2015, 12:35:09 PM
Which bitcoin client did you use? Was it bitcoin-core, electrum, or other wallets? For bitcoin-core, you have to find the "wallet.dat" file usually in "C:\Users\<YourName>\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin" folder.

You need to give more information for others to help you.

Huh

{...} although I can find things relating to my nxt wallet {...}

Edit: @OP: Are you confused with terms NXT and Bitcoin? Both of them are different currencies. Please specify which coin you are referring to.

That was very fast. I suspect your computer is infected. I don't see any other possibilities for this.
1190  Other / New forum software / Re: Possibility (for us) to lock/block our forum account on: June 17, 2015, 11:13:32 AM
This is a good option but there must be a secret password or 2FA for locking account.

Hmm .. 2FA, it will be really good but in this thread I want to discuss (more) for the lock/block question and not for the unlock question. However thanks for your opinion.

Actually, that's what I meant! For locking account, there must be a sort of password and/or 2FA to prevent hackers from locking accounts.

You could give it to an escrow who would change the password for you and would not allow you to regain access to the account for a certain amount of time

I don't think this is a good idea. If escrow is away when the time is up, then we will have to wait for him/her and also if something happens to escrow, account escrow holds will also be locked forever unless admin resets password. An automatic system is better.

-snip- then use another wallet (like blockchain.info that I'm using).

Move your coins out of Blockchain.info wallet. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1085983.0;all
Which wallet can I use? I use my bitcoins on my phone, but I have bad experience using the Android wallet.
 -snip-

Bither - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.bither&hl=en
Schildbach's Bitcoin Wallet - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet
Mycelium - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycelium.wallet
GreenAddress - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.greenaddress.cordova

Use Xapo instead and you don't need to worry about the transaction fee as it's free.

Blockchain is ridiculous when it comes to fees especially when you receive money from faucets. They charged me $0.6 fee when I had to send just $1 from my wallet and hence I stopped using faucets long back due to this issue and now I only use Xapo.

The regular fee of Blockchain if you receive big amounts (>$1) is 0.0001 ($0.02) which is OK.

Xapo is not secure. You need to fully trust them with your money and that is not good. I recommend GreenAddress if you are going for an online wallet.

1200  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: address is gone on: June 16, 2015, 07:23:49 PM
If you had written down the seed, then it may be a good idea to provide the seed to someone you can trust and they can see if they can recover the funds for you. They may charge you for this, and there is a risk that they will scam you, however it would be a solution to your problem.

I would not be surprised if you received requests from people to give them your seed who are very new or have little/no positive trust, and I can say it is almost certain that they are going to try to scam you.
if there is anyone with a good trust score i will provide the seed and they can see if they can retrieve it.

if they can, 0.5 bitcoins in their way.

newbies or scammers are easily recognized no worries about that.

legendary or hero with good trust feedback can be blindly trusted no problem about that

Im not entirely sure I would trust anyone just based on rank, but if you consider me trustworthy enough you can send me the seed. Via PM or mail (shor3na@gmail.com), my PGP fingerprint is 4E32 814C 98C2 B12E C473 228B 940A 17DB BD6B 68E2 if you want to encrypt the message with PGP. You can also put the seed in an encrypted or otherwise protected container if thats easier for you and send me the password via a seperate channel.

I will also need an address where you want me to send the funds to, e.g. from a newly generated (and properly secured) wallet.

I would also suggest OP to send all the files in C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Local\Electrum. Compress files and encrypt it. Then send the password along with the seed. Files in the above dir maybe helpful too to recover your coins.
