Reason for 220V or 240V?

Greater PSU efficiency with higher voltage -> lower bills
2442  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: August 27, 2014, 12:44:12 PM

Did you just translate my username to Indonesian Huh

Also, it looks to me like you decided to include the "SCAMMER" sub-rank; I wouldn't bother including it or would at least add some info that it's no longer given out, and there are no SCAMMER-tagged accounts left.
2443  Local / Polski / Re: mBank HELP on: August 25, 2014, 07:08:28 PM
When was your card blocked? Did you get to use it several times, or was it blocked right from the start? Was it blocked after trying to pay with it, while trying to withdraw money from an ATM, or while trying to pay for something online? I'm hearing most of the times mBank or WBK cards get blocked is whilst withdrawing from ATM internationally.

Most likely there isn't anything you can do apart from visiting them with your ID or passport, or mailing it to someone you know and trust locally in Poland (assuming your card isn't permanently assigned to your real name).

is there any chance to moderator/admin reaction?

i got hero member account created at 2011 so badly damaged by scammer.

thanks

We don't moderate Trust ratings. You will have to resolve this with whoever left you that rating, alternatively with whoever has him/her on their Trust list.
2447  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: August 22, 2014, 12:04:39 PM
I'm not sure what you mean by rejected but the least that will happen to it is it'll get 'ignored' by a few mods, but I handle reports when they come in from the alt section but obviously can only handle reports against newbies currently so can't vouch for what will happen to the others.

As much as I don't care for that section I don't think we should get rid of it, but a few dedicated mods should probably be added to help keep order.
Invalid or how do you call it?
Anyways I've been carefully of what I've been reporting there yet had a 2% decrease in accuracy. It's a shame that one can't see the status of all their reports.

If it's ignored it's not "invalid" (unless it was marked as "bad").

Trashed the first one, deleted some useless replies in the second one.

I have done the Polish Translation.

Thanks

No, you haven't. It was so botched up (Google Translate?) I had trouble understanding what you were trying to convey with that post, so it was deleted.
2449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: August 16, 2014, 02:48:12 PM
If people are interested in your service, they can read your thread ??
I think I am missing something.
Only if people read my thread they may get interested. They do not read it because they do not know about it's existence.

You can let them know by other means:

- you can rent ad slots on this forum - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=731988.0
- you can pay people to put a link to your site or thread in their signatures
- you can PM people that have elsewhere on the forum recently voiced interest in paying for services similar to yours

Quote
If I am sending PMs manually and each is unique in the sense that it is addressed to a certain person and say there is content related to this person's activities or interests it should not be treated as a spam.

So far your messages (at least the three that I saw) where all the same, simply adding "Hi <username>" at the beginning of the PM doesn't make it any less spammy.

Quote
The feedback is in general positive and some people signed in to our platform. This means that my information has a value for them.

What about those that report your PMs? What have they gained from your message? Tongue

Quote
I do not ask for joining the platform but rather for opinion on the business model, the website etc. So as long as nobody is complaining and reporting me it is Ok.

Asking to join, asking for an opinion, "special" offers - doesn't matter. Don't PM them unless you have a very good reason to suspect whoever you're PM'ing is going to be interested.

Quote
At least there should be something on the user's account saying for instance "No spam!" or some other warning.

It works the other way around, if they specifically say "PM me" in their signature or personal text field or somewhere else, or otherwise indicate they're interested (e.g. by looking for advice which cloud services they could use), then it is OK to PM them.

Quote
Please note that some people not only do not mind my PM's but actually are doing what I am asking for.

Key word some.

Quote
And basically all I want is feedback on the thread not to join kryptologika.

It is something like knocking to someone's door saying Hello and asking: "Have you heard about bitcoin?" -and there are options:
a) slam the door
b) listen perhaps there is a valid information from the messenger

If you knock on my door I can decide whether I want to let you in or not. By PM'ing people you aren't giving them a choice.

Quote
Restricting me from communicating with other forum members in this way is limiting me as a Bitcoin enterpreneur, I cannot develop my services I cannot present my business model etc.

Others are doing fine without having to resort to spamming.

Quote
I think you should rather support such actions no matter if someone is reporting this as spam.

If we "supported such actions" no one would bother using PMs anymore because going to the Inbox would means having to sift through hundreds of messages from Bitcoin "entrepreneurs"  Roll Eyes

Quote
I know how sensitive this matter is and I am not going to flood this forum with spam as it would result in negative consequences for me and my business. I am just trying to find some balance.

Good

I'm confused which reports of mine have been lately considered as bad report !!! As per my calculation 2 reports of mine have been considered as bad report in last 1 week span.

This one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=646163.msg7223212#msg7223212 doesn't belong in Service Announcements, the guy's offering his services here, on bitcointalk.org, and his website only serves him as a place to put his portfolio on.

How much time does the list cover? A week or a month for those 1450 mod actions?

About a week back, I think.

Global mods can see handled/bad reports about two weeks back.
2452  Other / Meta / Re: How do I set my security question? on: August 15, 2014, 10:09:49 AM
A hacker could get access to your account then edit all your posts where you posted an address, and delete all your PMs, and change email. Account not recoverable, unless you have the secret question.

He wouldn't be able to delete and edit posts made in the Auctions child-board, and deleting a PM from the Outbox doesn't make it magically disappear from the recipient's Inbox (and there are forum backups, too).
2453  Other / Meta / Re: Account Security on: August 14, 2014, 08:32:33 PM
What is the best security protocols when it comes to this site?

Trust no one, question everyone.

Things to watch out for:

social engineering - people following your posts and trying to impersonate the person you're trading with to trick you into sending them your precious bitcoins, their Activity level and post history should be a dead giveaway and yet there are still some that fall for this scam
malware - watch out which links you follow, and if you do, at least have java disabled in your browser; don't run software from unknown people, and even if it's from someone "trustworthy" it doesn't hurt to wait till a few other people try it out and post some feedback; ideally you should only be running open source software and at least skimming through the code to see if there isn't anything suspicious
scams - read my first sentence, not once, not twice, but at least thrice

I've read a little about the recovery option and have seen that it's recommended to send the DefaulltTrust your Bitcoin address as early as possible.

Yeah, that's the account. Just don't forget to keep your private key associated with that address in a safe place.

After sending the message, go to "Outbox", click on the subject of the message, and note down the number at the end of the URL (keep it in a safe place, too). Should you ever lose access to your account and are unable to recover it with your email, you'll PM one of the admins without forgetting to use the following template, and they should help you regain access to your account.

So with this method will everyone who is on default trust receive your Bitcoin address? I should imagine that would get you blocked by a few people.

No, this is the account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=122551
It's operated by theymos only, people on the Trust list of this account will not be getting any messages from you unless you decide to put them in the "To" or "Bcc" fields.

My votes, in the order of preference:

1. black (yeah, I know it's not in the poll)
2. orange
3. dark blue

OR

something like this gif but smaller and it should revolve no more than once in a 60 second period so as not to be too distracting:

It looks OK to me (is your monitor calibrated?) and I decided to set it this way so that it's consistent with other colors that are mentioned there, but if there are more people having problems reading it then it might be a good idea to change it.
2457  Other / Meta / Re: Some questions about the stats of the forum on: August 11, 2014, 05:15:25 PM
How many registrations do we have a day?
How many posts per min/hour?

I thought of these questions because this forum seems to deal swiftly with any problems and delete any topics which are against the rules...as when I first joined there was a lot more spam and things out of place on the forum. SO I was wondering have we got less people registering now or is it just that most of them are banned/nuked early on?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats

But don't look at the averaged numbers, scroll down and click on "August".

How many posts are moderated/reported a day?

Across the whole forum there are on average 150 reports per day.

How many people are banned a day?

This is the modlog for the last seven days:
https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.php

Ctrl + F "autoban" or "nuke" (without quotes)
"autoban" means someone got a permaban or a permaban with an IP ban, "nuke" means someone got a permaban with an IP ban, and had all their posts removed
You won't see any info about temporary bans, though.
2458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 10, 2014, 10:13:20 AM
The once first altcoin, its just another altcoin.

Litecoin was just a clone of another altcoin if I remember correcly. Tenebrix/Fairbrix I think.

Yup, it was a clone of the first scrypt coin, the first altcoin was Namecoin.
2459  Other / Meta / Re: It's this stupid shit that pisses me off. on: August 06, 2014, 08:52:15 PM
Can we please make off-topic post count / activity just not count? I mean, seriously. That'd be great. It'd get rid of all the jackasses that are only posting for the sake of their signature campaigns and farming activity.

Also, it means we can have more 'spammy' posts / more games without worrying about it getting deleted for spam.

Not that it's a bad idea, but I think we can safely assume signature ad spammers would start shitting in other boards, because they only care about their bottom line — the level of their monthly payouts.

2013: HODL

2014: goxxed

I see the word 'bitcoin' being used an awful lot. Too much. Also, 'bitcoins' which is worse, and "BitCoin"  which is TheVeryWorst.

Don't forget about "Bit Coin" Cheesy
