is the victim was duped into sending 80 BTC to the hacker's wallet. from that 80 BTC, the hacker then sent 60 BTC to coinbase. pretty dumb move since coinbase mandates KYC. did he never hear of a mixer, coinjoin, etc to break the chain from the spear phishing attack?
My guess is they knew what they were doing, they probably wanted to use someone else's Coinbase and bank accounts, but this time Coinbase actually reacted in a timely manner to a customer support request and prevented the thief from cashing out. |

Errr wait, that is not totally true. 25% of my merits come from deleted messages, that's a lot. But the real comment should be"...that are now deleted or off-limit (Staff Section)".
That or the posts may be located in the Donator/VIP section. Admins can see deleted posts, mods can see Trashcanned topic and posts within these topics. |

I do not understand this licensing thing.
A crypto based online casino or sportsbook should be free from licensing and all those centralized powers. We already have a community and it can starts from here. I have seen several gambling sites without a real license but established now. As long as you are providing good service and abide by community commonsense then a crypto based gambling site should be fine.
Easier to spend money if you can prove where it comes from (a legal business), especially with how much money some casino owners are making yearly. |

Coins themselves almost never do it.
The listing on CMC also in 99% of time gets you nowhere, noone is noticng the bottom 2000 coins , only if they are heavily manipulated.
Exchanges fake volumes to get higher in some lists as in CMC exchange list to get more attention and customers.

As far as I remember all he did was sell flash powder based firecrackers on eBay, i.e. potassium (per)chlorate + aluminium, something even kids play around with, and some are making him out as if he sold octogen to terrorists. Maybe he shouldn't have stored it in his apartment building but prison time seems excessive.

I support your suggestion, because troll is not allowed, but I still see some users continously troll over years, and it seems they have not yet get any kind of bans (as I know). Not sure what happened more than 2 years ago with trollers, but last 2 years, I have not seen trollers got ban (by their trolling, not from plagiarism or spam, eg.)
It happens, but it's rare, only the most disruptive of trolls end up with permabans, even temp bans aren't very common.
Yeah, I really wasn't a fan of this, though it was at least some barometer for trolls, but it was also abused or could give the wrong impression. Back in the day people used to use the ignore button if they didn't like what you were saying or just because you were on a signature campaign and they'd be open about telling you that. People shouldn't be lit up like trolls just because someone doesn't like what you're saying. How many of us would be marked as trolls just because there's certain people who don't like you or have a few alts they can do the same on just to try impact you negatively. By all means, use the ignore button if you don't want to see what certain people are saying but that shouldn't effect how others perceive you.
A very tiny percentage of all users were marked as trolls, because the highlight appeared only if enough of "very-established users" ignored them, how many people back then had alts active enough to have their ignores count? You're very established if:
- You have 100+ hours of online time
- You have 100+ posts
- You registered 30+ days ago
There are ~1414 very-established users right now.
The change only shows up in the default theme.
As the number of users, and by extension the number of very-established users grew, the only way for trolls to keep being marked was to keep engaging in trollish behaviours. Every 500 posts someone made would also decrease his ignore count by 1. Theymos also said he'd ban anyone trying to farm accounts for the purpose of ignoring someone they didn't like with more very-established accounts. |

I'd be amazed if it does but I get the impression that in Russia you need to murder three people and pay off four or five others just to get your hands on a quality roll of toilet paper. It's not Cointelegraph. I've heard about this phenomenon for at least a few years. There are/were services like Mint that would procure virgin bitcoins for a premium. Investing in a mining operation is risky, and mining has a time cost vs. buying OTC. They could end up losing more than 10% taking that route. Paying that premium seems crazy to people like us of course, but I get why some investors would do it: They can afford to, and the 10% premium is nothing to them vs. the potential headache if they end up with questionably sourced bitcoins from the OTC market. No, I meant about hedge funds and the like being willing to pay such high premiums. The idea of virgin bitcoins themselves is older than that article, but 2-3% is the maximum reasonable fee, 10% or more is what I'd expect criminals being willing to pay. Starting a PPS mining pool paying 105% isn't risky and people will quickly line up to sign up even if the variance would be high initially. Mining contracts could be used to jump-start the pool and lower the variance before enough people join. |

Very interesting article, surprisingly.  using But not sure of the relevance, in most cases the buyer will be able to send those cryptos to non regulated exchange or exchange them using other means. This becomes more relevant if some one wants to hold them for a very long time. Than again , I dont understand why it is better than the same interested person going to regulated exchange, buying some btc and sending them to wallet... Neither do I, tbh, especially since the coins they're buying might as well have been mined by North Koreans evading sanctions. I don't see why hedge funds which are mentioned in the article would want to pay a premium as high as 10%. Starting/joining a PPS pool would make more sense from a financial standpoint. The devil is in the details, the differences between different jurisdictions are considerable enough that what in one country will be a legal sting, in another will be an illegal entrapment, or looked at as manufacturing criminals.

Anti-virus use on Windows is perfect. Antivirus is usually not used on Mac or Apple. However, it should be used on a normal computer. Because the malaria virus can damage at any moment.
Ubuntu also don’t need extra protection , am I right? I just want to install it. Ubuntu (or any other operating system, really), isn't immune against malware (even if due to lower install base not as much is written as for Windows), 0days, exploits against the system or any of its components or installed software, and you can still get phished if you don't look carefully where you log in. |

Z tego co pamiętam to wtedy zależało dużo od tego z jakiego brokera/platformy się korzystało. W Polsce większość umarzała długi z wyjątkiem Saxo Bank, od kogoś próbowali wyegzekgować milion zlotych, ale nie mogę znaleźć informacji jak dalej potoczyła się sprawa.

I studies Law and even worked for Law Enforcement. LA will never do something like that. Illegal obtained proofs can not eve be used in court + they can't break the law as they want. we are not even allowed to use hacking software/guess somebody password without a warrant. if we wanted to get somebodies account details we had to obtain a warrant. (for facebook , for google/yahoo it was more 1000 times more complicated, he had to use an international mechanism - call our ministry to ask a prosecutor from US to call a judge from US to give us an order.).
It might be illegal in your country, but legal in another country. Parallel construction may also be used and you won't even know if any laws were broken when gathering the evidence.
BTW, I can load the clearnet website only with a VPN but it loads immediately, the .onion site works without any issues. |
