1442  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to avoid getting blocked on neteller/paypal/skrill/etc? on: October 11, 2019, 01:12:25 PM
I read about an awful lot of complaints locally of people who wired money to an actual scammer, therefore filed a legit scam report, but the bank and the police department usually don't act unless the amounts are crazy high. With that in mind, I wish anyone good luck trying to request a fraudulent charge back or file a scam report.

No bank will cooperate with your fake scam report if they aren't even willing to help you with actual proof. On top of that, who do you think they believe, a multi billion dollar company with tens of thousands of satisfied customers, or you?  Roll Eyes

It depends on the country, but if you hire a lawyer and take things to court, chances are the bank will freeze the money, and you'll eventually get it. Of course it has to be a legitimate claim, it won't work if someone's trying to commit chargeback fraud.
1443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can more ATM's increase adoption for Bitcoin? on: October 10, 2019, 02:32:30 PM
ATM or just buying from an ATM is not adoption.

Buying bitcoin through a Bitcoin ATM is the most frictionless method of acquiring bitcoins these days (most people can't feasibly mine without losing money), so yes, it does help with adoption.
1444  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to avoid getting blocked on neteller/paypal/skrill/etc? on: October 10, 2019, 12:50:11 PM
see, bank transfer has still advantage
funds maybe get frozen for some time in very rare cases but you have chance to clarify in court
in paypal decides on your money paypal crew
i never can understand how paypal got legally such rights, thats the reason i never dare to hold there more than 100$

Yes, that was exactly my point, as far as reversible/online legacy fiat payments go, bank transfers are among the safest. With PP, Venmo, neteller and similar you have to raise your prices accordingly because the risk is significantly higher that you'll lose money.
1445  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to avoid getting blocked on neteller/paypal/skrill/etc? on: October 10, 2019, 10:18:43 AM
Irreversible transactions and banks don't go well together. I can make something up so that the bank is on my side to undo the initial transaction, especially when I say that I got scammed by a crypto company.

Banks generally don't like crypto companies, which means that you have something to exploit here. Miners are quite expensive, especially in larger quantities, so the incentive to pull off a scam is there.

Never underestimate scammers. They will find a way to make it happen as long as the money on the line is worth it. It has been happening outside the crypto world for decades, so why wouldn't it happen here?

Depends on the banking system, often if the funds are cleared, the most the scammer can do is file a police report or contact their bank, and your bank might freeze the money. The banks might ask for evidence from both sides, if neither side provides strong enough evidence then things might have to be settled in court.

If I make a guide, will people translate it to local boards?

If it's good (with pictures, etc.), I think you can PM them the link, maybe I'll translate it for my board, too.
1447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone here running any Bitcoin ATMs? on: October 10, 2019, 07:36:37 AM
When I asked if they had any ATMs that allowed crypto purchase via credit or debit card, I got a one-word reply, "no", and when I replied that I thought they were being very shortsighted by not offering a credit/debit card option for customers, they said "thank you for your feedback" and that was the end of the e-mail. Not the level of responsiveness I'm looking for in a company that wants my money.

Stolen credit cards would be used to buy bitcoins at your ATM, and then you would get hit with chargebacks, and now you are out of bitcoins and out of money, potentially facing legal problems, too. KYC could (maybe) curtail it which makes your ATM business more expensive to run and less attractive to potential users.
1448  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITSTAMP frozen my 10 btc and asking years worth of signed address transactions on: October 10, 2019, 01:24:44 AM
No bleedin' WAY is that typical. I've run plenty of stuff through Kraken and not once have they ever asked for anything other than the initial ID and proof of address and that was about four years ago now. I've never heard of Coinbase asking for any extra intrusive info. They either let you play or tell you to sod off. There's no hostage taking.

Bitstamp seem to specialise in asking for stuff that I've never, ever heard any 'real' financial institution asking for. Why the fuck would you give that to a bunch of anonymous Slovenes?

OP was not clever using open gambling funds. Most exchanges would've given him the boot for that. Good on him for getting one over on them.

In this case it doesn't matter that he used gambling funds, Coinbase will close your account for that due to some silly US anti-gambling laws/regulations, Bitstamp is unaffected by that, as you can see they never said anything about it, nor are they closing his account, but they are strict about knowing the source/trail of all of your money/coins at their exchange, stricter in fact than any legacy financial institution.
1449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How Bitcoin transactions work and what are their types? on: October 09, 2019, 11:25:32 PM
P2MS this is the first time i am hearing this term. where did you get it from?

I provided all sources as always in the post footer, but here it is: https://learnmeabitcoin.com/glossary/p2ms

If someone is confused, it's probably because at least historically transactions with these scripts were referred to as 'standard multisig' or 'raw multisig'.
1450  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITSTAMP frozen my 10 btc and asking years worth of signed address transactions on: October 09, 2019, 10:45:20 PM
Bitstamp has been here for long time and them asking KYC with such strict details does make me wonder what juicy information they have obtained on the coins.

You may try to present a story in your way of describing but this is what I suspect has happened.

No, this is normal for bitstamp, they have been asking similar questions for >5 years now. Other exchanges are catching up with their intrusiveness. It's better to take your time to find a trustworthy person to make an exchange in-person.
1451  Other / Meta / Re: Staff Dabs abusing merit? on: October 09, 2019, 10:02:32 PM
Self-scratching as a whole has been already discussed in other thread(s?), but the alleged begging is a new thing.
Sir, is this not enough for a clear understanding of what happened?

I don't know how the message looked like, so I don't know if it was begging, or a business offer, a misunderstanding, or something else. But TheNewAnon135246 above says he has reported the message so perhaps it shouldn't have been sent...

P.S. No need to call me 'sir' Tongue
1452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BBC Air Documentary on Notorious ‘Crypto Queen’ Scammer on: October 08, 2019, 10:26:56 PM
this is all that they've come up?
there are hundreds of coins in this forum open for them to investigate but they focus on onecoin.

Maybe because it's one of the biggest scams out there with billions of dollars gathered from suckers from all over the world?
1453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Invest 2k, Exchange on: October 08, 2019, 09:36:33 PM
The amount you could save going OTC is only going to be a euro or two, at most. If you are already set up on Binance.je, I would just use them.

Theoretically, he could save up to several percent if he made an ad on localbitcoins, but his ad would probably get little exposure or interest with a new account and no feedback/volume.
1454  Economy / Reputation / Re: User @Nihal6443 advertising reddit shilling on: October 08, 2019, 08:52:27 PM
I think you should "Report to moderator" because some of these services are against Reddit ToS and are therefore illegal.

No, breaking some website's ToS is not equivalent to breaking the law, and it'd still have to be a crime where OP (or the buyer of his services) lives.

Done, and thank you for suggestion.

I agree, these kind of services shouldn't be tolerated, even though they are for different platform. And  if @Nihal6443 is willing to do shilling on reddit, there is a chance he would do it here on bitcointalk as well, as these kind of shady services like to cover many other platforms, including Telegram group shilling, YouTube etc. They rarely focus on just 1 platform.

Yes, they do that here too, we can't prevent them from offering their services elsewhere to shill here, but we can ban those whose shilling can be qualified as spamming.
1455  Other / Meta / Re: Report Malware and Suspicious Links here so Mods can take Action ! on: October 08, 2019, 08:35:33 PM
I understand that but i thought the rank (hero member) + that i never had any trouble with the 'law and moderators' means something (trust), but it looks like it's not the case.

Being a Hero Member isn't enough, too many accounts are trading hands, or changing ownership (hacks or phishing) for anyone to be above suspicion.
1456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BBC Air Documentary on Notorious ‘Crypto Queen’ Scammer on: October 08, 2019, 08:30:30 PM
It'd be nice if there were transcripts for these podcasts, I don't feel like spending hours on listening to them on the off chance I might learn about something new.

So weird that the media won't get within 100 feet of pointing out that Wright is an obvious scammer, but seems to have no problem doing so for onecoin.  Onecoin is obviously a scam, but not more obviously than wright...

That's because he was given too much credibility initially, and wasn't immediately and unanimously denounced as a fraud.
1457  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: October 08, 2019, 08:08:10 PM
I don't know what attacks ChipMixer is facing, but often attacking isn't as costly as defending, especially when you're dealing with DNS or NTP amplification attacks. Given the money they should be making they can probably afford also the more expensive alternatives to CloudFlare, but that's still introducing another actor they might not like being forced to do business with... maybe they're building their own anti-DDoS solution? That'd be cool Cool

Also, CloudFlare doesn't need to be a willing participant in NSA spying, they're an American company so an NSL is probably all it takes to force them into compliance.
1458  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: October 08, 2019, 06:17:59 PM
IEO: They listed IEO's Which had bad reputation in the past. But the team members from the IEO's are too close to Bittrex Core Team Members. Such a bad price & all the Team members from these IEO projects dumped their bags and as a result, Bittrex lost more customers. If you check Bittrex has only a few Coins that have a volume over 100BTC.This indicates that Bittrex is falling so hard. Bittrex is the only exchange none of their IEO's were successful.

Obviously the ICO craze has declined, but it's also possible some exchanges are now no longer indifferent to wash trading. Bittrex is one of the exchanges which were supposed to do something about it, along with pump & dumps.
1459  Other / Meta / Re: Staff Dabs abusing merit? on: October 08, 2019, 05:42:32 PM
If i pm'd any random user asking them for money for X or Y reasons and I get reported, what punishment would I face?

Depends on the context, but generally speaking if you started PMing random people asking them for money, I think you'd be temp banned at best.

Anyone can report a PM, either whoever received those PMs didn't think it warranted reporting, or Admins didn't think it warranted taking any actions against Dabs.

You guys diverting the topic on another way. No one bothered to open thread about begging coin or DT1 manipulations. You should open another thread regarding another issue. But this thread should serve as merit abuse.

Self-scratching as a whole has been already discussed in other thread(s?), but the alleged begging is a new thing.

Is everything shipped from the Dominican Republic? I don't see location info for a lot of items.

P.S. If you hover over "Shop By Department" with a mouse, some categories are duplicated.
