Whether or not it will have any short term effect, I still urge all members of the Dashcoin community to contact btc-e and request that they stop creating confusion by using Dashcoin's DSH ticker to identify another coin.
This is exactly what i have proposed to a Dashcoin community member, but it got rejected: congratulations for your coin being added to BTC-e

DSH is Dashcoin's ticker symbol
Thanks for the heads up, we did not notice this yet. Must be a typo. Could you please report it to BTC-e support? I am afraid, that their system is only capable for 3 char tickers. Like it was the case with bitfinex in the past. why me?? it is your coin written in another coin's (Dashcoin's original since July 2014) ticker symbol ..you should be concerned...or you really want DSH ticker symbol ha?? well tough luck my friend Dashcoin isn't going anywhere. I just asked why me?? ... it is not rejection, It seems you wanted your DASH (darkcoin) to be called DSH hmmm. how about we both ask BTC-e? ..fair enough? both our coins are misinterpreted..makes sense we both do something about it, right?

HAHAHAHAHAHA! so I'm Icebreaker now...this is GREAT..love you guys A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. I'd like to say something about the obsession over ticker symbols. It's important to understand that many exchanges are only capable of having a three letter ticker, and nobody is going to re-code their exchange engine for a coin that has a $40 million marketcap. That's just a blunt, hard fact. IMO, we need to either get on board with accepting DSH as the three-letter ticker symbol, or we need to be proactive in coming up with a different one that exchanges can use. With respect to Dashcoin: we bought all of their trademarks and completely own the name and ticker. Yes, Dashcoin used the DSH ticker symbol. Yes, a year ago that would have confused people. But at this point, I think we need to accept that Dashcoin is dead, and other than the three people that still use it, nobody else in crypto is going to be confused by Dash using DSH as a ticker. Right now, Dashcoin is #398 on Coinmarketcap, with a market cap of $24,035 and a daily volume of $5. No, that's not a typo: $5. See: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dashcoin/#markets$5 of daily volume. Ha! I hate to admit this arielbit but when I saw BTC-e had added Dash (using the ticker DSH) my first thought was "Great, after all that 'BTC-e will NEVER add Dash' talk that went on ad nauseum in the BTC-e troll box, finally! Never say never!" and then my second thought was "I wonder if that buffoon arielbit is still around? Man, he's gonna be flapping his arms and jumping up and down like a man in a chicken suit fill of goannas!" and sure enough here you are! Funny and hilarious is your popping up to sprout a whole lot of hot air and buffoon gibberish. And straining oh so hard to try and work out what you're babbling on with and let's see....what is it....squeezing my ears to try and pick it up....and (good grief!) YOU'RE STILL GOING ON ABOUT BLOODY DASHCOIN FFS! What part of DEAD don't you understand? At $5 of volume per day that doesn't even represent the suggestion of a pulse let alone a heartbeat. It honestly doesn't matter whether BTC-e uses DSH or DASH. In fact it wouldn't matter whether all the exchanges use DSH, even any (if there is such a thing) that may once have had Dashcoin on their books. DSH is DASH - end of story!Honestly when are you going to give up and do something useful! long time no see buddy.. ^ the red letters there, i can feel it you really want our coin DEAD like ddink7...pointing out the market capitalization and volume HAHA ... I know why you remember me..because you and you friends know DSH is still not yours alone April 15, 2016 Dashcoin updated the code aaaaaand we have a new GUI DSH Dashcoin ain't dead fools Hey it's a great opportunity for you to unload your big bag full of nothing. 1 - register on btc-e 2 - create a DSH address to deposit 3 - send all your coins 4 - sell them all 5 - profit ahahah we love you too want me to dump this on BTC-e? LOL No - you are just one jealous little bitch - hurts that no one gives a rats ass about your bagholding shitcoin doesn't it.....should have bought DASH Jealous? .. Didn't I just congratulated you guys from being added to BTC-e? Yeah I'm bagholding so you all eat shit with this undying DSH Dashcoin A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted. ... congratulations for your coin being added to BTC-e I don't mean to ruin your party...I'm just here to remind you to be not so comfortable in using DSH ticker symbol like it is yours.. DSH is Dashcoin's ticker symbol...I hope it sinks to you shill heads ... Market Cap Volume (24h) $ 26,065 $ 12 58 BTC 0 BTC Sorry, it's dead so no one really cares anymore. EDIT: Just to clarify a bit more. I personally had no idea that btc-e is going to add Dash and they never contacted me to ask for a "proper" ticket. They picked it on their own. Moreover btc-e admin addressed same concerns as yours few times in their Ru chat and finally said that "this talk is closed" and everyone was like "oh, ok". I heard no complains there regarding this fact anymore. So really, no one cares. so you are saying that you and BTC-e guys decide that "DSH" ticker is yours now? lol .. as long as you don't say "DSH" is not Dashcoin's community anymore then you all are just talk... Just read what I really said once again and try to understand it. Simplified version: 0. I wasn't involved in that decision in any way 1. btc-e admins picked DSH as a ticker for DASH on their exchange based on their knowledge of trade engine limitations. 2. everyone who is trading on btc-e is fine with that. 3. if you're not happy, go open a support ticket or try to complain in chat (and get banned quickly). And btw there is no "first taker of X letters ticker has exclusive rights forever" rule in crypto imo. We picked DASH to avoid confusion in early times and to let your coin live even though we were much bigger already and we had problems with 4 letters ticker on some exchanges we could otherwise easily avoid. But nothing is written in stone and as time passed by it's clear that your coin isn't going anywhere so it doesn't really matter now if it ever existed at all, like it or not. You can make you own coin with ticker DASH or even BTC right now, no one can stop you from doing so. The only question is will it be accepted by anyone else or not. The best you can get from calling your new coin DASH or BTC now is to be recognized as a silly joke. The worst I guess is a scam. Those letters themselves worth nothing really, tech, team, community, market adoption - that's what matters. If after such a long period of time there is literally no markets for your coin then it doesn't really matter what your proclaimed ticker is imo. To summarize: Fact: DSH is recognized by btc-e traders as Dash ticker now and they have no problems with recognizing it. My conclusion: let it be. If there would be another major "3 letters only" exchange who is willing to start trading Dash but can't change their engine for us - I'm fine if they go with DSH ticker for Dash too. this is how i summarize your explanation: UdjinM6: I am enjoying my balls getting fondled.you know better than that. Your Buddies cares

If it would like to be CPU only for a while then theres M7M (v2) PoW hash function from Magicoin which is still CPU only I believe I was following Magi religiously when they first started, but after a short amount of time this same situation occurred, now there are GPU's raping the mining pools :/ I'm not sure if they took any steps to circumvent that, but GPUs kicked a huge amount of people off the pools how about argon2 coin (AR2)? ... I've read it is quite hard to implement on GPU's

Could you have by accident installed 32bit windows? I know you said it's x64 but it sounds like you're pressing that 4gb limit (~3.25gb addressable) I can confirm it is indeed x64 via the Control Panel's basic system information. I have the same distro installed on two other rigs, one of which is an Intel Bad Axe 2 seating 1 390x, 1 290x & 1 290 w/ 2 x 1 GB + 2 x 2GB where all 6GB are properly allocated and the other from vague recollection is an Asus P5b also on socket 775 with 2 x 2GB where only 3.25GB is usable as indicated in the motherboard's manual. fo00ok I have a very similar PC - s.775, 4GB RAm, Win7, 3.25GB recognized with latest bios and 290 inside. It works flawlessly with Virtual memory set to static 16GB size and all Genoil/Claymore versions Ethminer works just fine as well as Claymore's v1.2. I just set a single 16GB pagefile and tried launching v4.1 and it returned the following error: GPU 0, OpenCL error -4 - cannot create DAG. @Claymore I uploaded my log and would be very grateful if you can take a quick glance at it. https://dropfile.to/aCSRy1dI'm mining with 775 CPU's and boards here.. win 7 64bit, 4GB ram, 80gb HDD , Xeon 3220 (Q6600) I'm mining alright here, currently on v3.2 ...haven't tested the V4.0 (the no DAG version) I have a pentiumD, a pentium 4 HT, and core2duo E8400 that I decomissioned for mining...these very old CPUs compared to X3220 are affecting hashrate..

the GUI wallet should use "DSH" more
like..
balance 1000 DSH unconfirmed 0 DSH
we have to maximize "DSH" exposure, it is ours.

i was about to invest in warp..when i've seen the dev posting some nice pictures of "warp" logo and nice wallet pictures..my instinct kicked in. i did not invest having nice logo and graphics does not mean it is a scam..but when someone is throwing graphics for a hype it is a red flag to me lol

BTC-e just added Dash with ticker DSH. Please tell me again how Dashcoin currently have any identity for a new user.
The identity is that of The Real Dashcoin, before that other coin ripped off the name and tried to bully this one. Let new users come and learn about it. in other words this name "Dashcoin" and ticker symbol "DSH" has a story..and i like it

DSH not DASH and i hold some DSH .. dashcoin trolololol

Nice work on the update. Is it adopted by any exchanges yet? Anybody else thinking a name change is a good idea by the way?
playing a little bit innocent? we have already an exchange for a long time https://poloniex.com/exchange#xmr_dshFirst, A big thanks to those who have been working hard to keep the project alive!
I've mined DSH since the early days and have always liked the name and logo. So, I understand if people in the community might feel hesitant to give it up. However, It seems like the coin has been undervalued since the name was stolen.
I agree with kokonit that a name change could be good and help clear the confusion for newcomers just discovering this coin. It might be a good way for us all to look to the future.
you and the other newbie account (kokonit), first post post are both dashcoin..kokonit post are only in two altcoin btw dashcoin and DASH (darkcoin) confusion? personally I prefer that they discover what happened and learn the power of decentralization by not backing down from DASH (darkcoin) interest. and also if there is a confusion, dashcoin is the one benefiting, why? because DSH is the cheaper, undervalued, underdog coin ========================================= now let's discuss the name dashcoin and the pros and cons of changing and not changing it.. what are your suggestions? (this will be fun )

Even with lowered ethi , my rig is crashing and cant boot after that, its like that from the last 3-4 versions ... When we calculate the time that it is chrased and not mining for hours, the profit from the decred mining cant cover the so many hours downtime ... So the problem is not the ethi setting, maybe you changed something with the optimizations ?
you have to look elsewhere for other problems..if the miner is stable with other users there must be something in your system that causes that crashing or hanging etc.. focusing on the main players here... -gpu temp (fan failure, dried thermal paste) -power supply issue (defective, not enough power, loose connection, burned and slightly burned connections) -and other pc components...HDD bad sector, failing RAM, CPU overheating etc.. mining pushes these components to the limits, running 24/7 specially this summer (people in hotter climates here)

I used to mine with Ethos, now claymore seems to be available only on windows. Does anybody have any idea on how much RAM I need per card ? Most of my rigs are with 390s. The good thing about Ethos was that it was running fine with only 4Gb of RAM for a 6 card rig and not even consuming all 4.
To mine ETH you need a minimum 2 Gb RAM per card, otherwise the DAG won't load into the cards's memory so, my fifth card wont work with 8gb of ram?! sh , i did not know that... unless this software is different, thats false. etereum needs as much system ram as it needs GPU ram, because the DAG is loaded on both. But it only needs one copy in the ram for every running instance (and the DAG is only ~1.4GB, so even 5 seperate ethminer instances would be ~7.1GB of RAM usage) if you have all your cards running in te same instance of ethminer your RAM usage will only be 1.4Gb (size of the DAG) on windows 7 64bit you need system ram of 4gb, my rig with 2gb and 3gb can't mine until i upgraded it to 4gb..using ethminer haven't tried system ram downgrade with this dual miner yet..

Hello. I recently got the r9 290 card and it doesnt seem to work to it's full potential. hashrate starts out great like 27 mh/s but it will drop to 21...after it heats up to 94c (which i read is normal for these cards). the miner will show irregular hashrate for this card only. my other r9 280x are all stable hashrates. this one will sometimes hit 23... 25... 21... 20.. should i change termal paste? change clock settings? get a big ass fan and point it at it? i have also had a bsod issue but i solved it by forcing constant voltage. thank you okay, while trying to figure this out i've noticed in gpu-z that, unlike the r9 280x cards, the gpu core clock for the R9 290 is always moving. i noticed that i get a more stable hashrate after mining a bit (it probably adapts) but it's always around 700-800ish core clock. if i set it to the default gpu core clock value (through the miner file) around 940 i believe, or maybe i can even put it a bit higher, I should see a stable and higher hashrate. this is what i'll try tomorrow but i'd love to get an opinion from someone more experinced than me before i do it. all input is welcome. thank you. The 290 is throttling due to temp, is the card in a case or open air rig? i guess your r9 290 is a reference design, they have a switch that throttles fan speed and increase the fan speed in catalyst. prepare your ears though that thing is louder than 10 280x combined LOL ok, this helped a lote. temp is now around 86. i think this may fix the freezing issue, which was the worst part. still, should i change the thermal paste? I have never done that before... so I dont want to do it unless I have to or should! would that help? should i change core settings also now that the temp is lower? maybe higher gpu clock and lower memory? can anyone give me a specific value? thank you for your help so far guys. never had the experience replacing the thermal paste of my r9 290 reference, i sold it because of the noise..try googling for that. you might want to try buying a usb riser (3 feet) for that card and put it outside the case.. and lowering clocks will help lowering the temps but it might lose some hashes, anyway you decide and pick the balance, if you run fast and too hot the gpu might die early

I want to pay devfee only dev not the pools for payout-rejects-fee makes sense, if claymore prioritizes solo mining with the dual miner he could take a chunk off fees from pools.. the incentive is there mr claymore besides unlike other coins out there, ethereum is in a way designed to be solo mined.
