Anyways, I think focusing on the riserless mobos is better strategy moving forward. Save money on unreliable risers, better heat control and lessen OS compatibility issues.

I love the sound of eliminating risers if possible. Just the time saved troubleshooting the rig if it's acting up would be pretty valuable, even without the additional cost savings. I hope that somebody makes one with ample enough spacing to run a full 6-8 higher wattage GPUs, such as GTX 1080 Ti, Rx Vega etc.

i don't get what citronick is saying about "better heat control" but risers are important to make space between hot gpus, the closer they are together the hotter they get..

quality risers are good, most of my risers from late 2013 are still going strong. and add to that my 775 motherboards circa 2006-2007 that are paired with these risers are still working...

look at that very long motherboard and look at the capacitors in between pcie slots, if only one of them gets cooked you're gonna get some headaches.

Dude, how much power does that thing actually draw? I'm all for good airflow but this looks like it'll suck the power off of your rigs! Cheesy

This contraption has its own 20A circuit.

It shares the circuit with 3 industrial fan blowing out towards the windows.

Building rules prohibits me from modifying the window and install barn fans...

It eats 520watts and can suck 65 metre square of air volume per minute.

Its currently turned off and will in good use when its needed on hot days.

The warehouse has 63Amps/3-Phase 220-240v power so my electrician says I can play with 3 x 63amp = 189amps - less 10-20% for safety buffer.

So 150amps divide by 5amps (6xGPU-rig) or about 8amps for the 12-13xGPU rigs = 30 rigs (6xGPU-rigs) or 18 x 12-13xGPU-rigs.

runs hot were you live 30c/86f  is a good day correct?

Yup. On a nice day 33c max, 29/30c at night. During hot days, 36-38c

There was once -- the whole week was too hot - 38-40c - some El-Nino event - 5mins inside the warehouse and I almost fainted because of the high temps, noise from fans running 100% and EMPs from the rigs, that was when I got that 2 x blower last year.

I also slowly discovered what components of the rigs were not up to the standard of 24x7 mining.... the obvious culprits were the cheap network cables going bad, Gen 1 USB risers and poorly built 4-pin molex. The EVGA PSUs worked like a champ even on high temp conditions.

Those times were stressful because the farm was crunching ETH all day - high electricity consumption, too much heat too. Power tripping became frequent - probably due to overheating PSUs. Those capacitors on the USB risers popping like popcorns with crackwhip sound occurs occasionally too. Probably due to heat and sub-standard build from Gen 1 USB risers from my R9-390 rigs circa late 2015-early 2016.

During this life after ETH, we have a combination of ZEC and XMR mining so the temps are not too bad - but when its hits 36-37c (near 100f) on a hot day - I turn on the blower to reduce temps by at least 2c.

when its too hot i work wearing my underwear only....nobody is around  Cool

you get out as soon as possible, get the job done quickly like a true ninja.hhiiiiya!

Oh that's so cute!!  Look, Dash was only $25 at the time of that little thread of yours  Grin  Perhaps we should all be thanking you for the part you played in Dash's meteoric rise (currently $340).  Your linking to that thread again now seems like a very bullish indicator.  Thanks Arielbit, things are about to get very exciting for Dash!!

you are very welcome..

just to remind you all, it wasn't just dash that boomed...pointing to dash price increase just to say that it was better than other crypto assets is just ridiculous.
1624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: September 21, 2017, 03:07:29 AM

Not to mention slow transaction times, bloated blockchain, almost non existant official releases, not very many full nodes on the network, and of course the opaque blockchain in which you have to trust there is no bad actor stealthily minting coins they shouldn't. But apart from that. Hey at least Monero has a graphical UI these days. It took a while.

Whoah hold on there buddy that is pure disinformation.

From what I researched Monero has over 1k nodes, well geographically dispersed, pretty decent for a project of it's size, while Dash's Masternode allegations still stand, due to it's costly nature we don't know whether it's the orignal devs setup the Masternodes or not, I personally highly doubt that many people have that much money to throw out on a node so, at the very least people should be vigilant about the Masternodes. So a sybil attack is more probable on Dash.

And you also seem to confuse Monero with Zcash. It's Zcash that has a totally non-transparent blockchain with "trusted" initialization. Monero is decentralized and trustless.

Now I don't know about "bloated blockchain", that's such a redundant term, almost everyone uses it to criticize a competitor. And the last time I sent a Monero TX (wasn't that long ago), the TX confirmed pretty quickly with decent fees.

So I think you are just trying to discredit Monero here from a competitor's point of view.

You are right on the GUI part though, I really had to learn the console commands just to make a wallet, pretty gruesome nerdy work, but I think it was worth it. A better GUI and possible mobile apps and such should be put out in the future though.

here is a brief timeline with of how masternodes came out to be..DASH Masternodes - the perfect motive for the instamine

spoiler alert!...

crickets!

true some are on wood, fan is top side so I dont think it makes much of a difference vs the ones directly on metal rails, considering the high ambient temperature...in winter all will be fine.  And they run a bit more than 80%...1000w evga's GQ, solid PSU, running anywhere between 750 and 930w depending if im dual mining or not. (at the wall, 120v, so on 240v its a little less due to better efficiency).  Breakers all run at less than 80% all up to code, but the PSU's themselves dont really need to if they are quality (of course you are correct lifespan with high temp is shortened).  Warranty is 7 years though...

generally they are heavy duty, but to be specific it takes only a single electronic component (like an IC or a capacitor to fuck up) to get in an uncomfortable position to accumulate heat and it can cause some weird behavior if it did not die a clean death.

i always prefer a clean death because it is very easy to identify the cause of the problem (stability issue), rather than finding the cause of the problem by the process of elimination..while weird problems takes time and effort to identify..like my 1000w seasonic PSU (I mentioned up thread) which causes restarts if it powers the system and gpus but as a secondary psu, powering only 2 gpus it was very stable.

there is a side of seasonic 1250xm that gets hot like when you touch it you would remove your hand immediately, that side I would not dare lay it flat on a surface...other PSU are of different make and build but still..you get the idea.

Depends on load.  If he does 80 percent 24/7/365 it needs decent air circulation

it is still best to do a "good practice", as a crypto miner sometimes we switch algos often/seldom/always and consume higher power..by doing so it may not come to our minds that we should give more air circulation to the psu, and by doing a "good practice" we can prevent them from happening.

yeah  more air is better for psu's  not worse.

I some times use these under gear for air  as they  do that and prevent shorting  if you take your time  they can be purchased at 5 dollars for 1. you need 1 per  psu

they also work  for other gear  when I do the 6 card riser less I will use 2 or 3 of them  under the mobo

I already have a solution to my motherboards.. i posted this in one of your alt coin threads in the past..and you are on your sixth now.

The side away from the fan - but if you have it on a metal shelf it's a GOOD idea to lay it flat, as the shelf will help dissapate the heat some.
Wood or any other insulator, flat would be bad.

The way my setup works, all the PS are on their sides though for space and air management reasons so it's not an issue either way.

from where i live there is only two wires for electrical the 240v live and the ground wire..so i don't like metal contacts with my gear...it is a good idea though for setups with proper grounding...

btw the metal frame of my rack was hotter than the air in my mining room lol.. i still believe that metal can better dissipate heat from a psu than the air.

But I am just criticizing it's privacy technology, which is very weak in my opinion.

Well, crack it and claim the bounty. Should be simple really.

I can't. But just because I can't that doesnt mean that an adversary with sufficient resources can't.

Somebody who taps all ISP's can easily deanonimize Dash, and it doesn't even have to be a Government. I can even be a 3rd party company that works with the ISP, who can then sell that data in the black market.

Dash is not anonymous, I have done my research on it, you should too.

Is this what you come up with after toknormals previous post? Oh dear.

Yes I'm sure it is 'easy' to tap 'all' ISPs. And just as easy to then unscamble Dash coin mixing. Or if you are a 3rd party one ISP is enough? Almost trivial really. Thanks for your concern which I've noted.

profitgenerator212 is looking at the wrong direction but i believe he has a grasp of the futility of Dash privacy, which is the first sales pitch of this shitcoin. "the first anonymous crypto" ... well the first anonymous crypto is Bitcoin until...it wasn't anymore.

asking people to crack an encryption here is simply an evasive tactic.

"Blockchain analysis" is the word.

Just wanted to share with you guys, since I put in the last GPU in today.  Have been mining since 2013 but mostly ASIC's, some GPU's.  Sold off most of the stuff in 2015, then early 2016 decided to get back in (my garage was cold).  Started with 2x380s and 2x390s (sold the 5870s lol).  Eventually sold the 380s+390s+280x in the height of the summer folly. With profits and bitcoin price rise, bought everything else gradually.  So all you see is paid off (plus some more), + all work and accessories (240v+pdu's), electrician work, fans, etc.  Power costs are about 5-6c usd.  Most are 470s/570s, some 480/580s, 1070s, maybe 10 1080tis and 2 1080s, total : 59 GPUs in the house (56 in the garage).

Started from this:

to this:

In approx 14 months.  I'm pretty happy, since I never had any real money to invest.  Electric is 100A only...so yeah im maxed out pretty much, total is about 45amps.

i noticed your psu's are laying flat on wood..maybe it is better to raise them a little bit, heat will accumulate there and may deteriorate the psu life.
1629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: September 14, 2017, 02:24:28 PM
Why ? becuases its cheap no name and if it catches on fire you risk voiding all the RMA's on your motherboard and pricy asics or GPU's

why use use a cheap non branded not even rated PSU on a rig that costs you over 3k in some cases for other parts, I can't imagine why i'd want to use

at least a gold rated , server grade quality tried true and tested PSU vs that hmm  Huh Grin Grin Wink
Because here we are using cheap Chinese make motherboards and these cheap Chinese made PSU sometimes are better alternative than Expensive Chinese made branded PSUs ok. And this thread is meant for experimenting, if you want everything put in front of you premade then shuuuuuu go to Bitmain Site and buy yourself there GPU miners.
For your second argument first we are the ones who are putting over 3000$ worth of GPUs on a cheap 100$ motherboards not you, if it would be a success than people like you will benefit from it or it's vise versa than it's our loss not yours......shuuuu this thread is not meant for you shuuuu...

my cheap 775 p35 motherboards with 4x pcie is serving me well from late 2013 to present, cost about ~ $30 back then, bought two pieces last week cost about ~$17 a piece now  Grin

and my hynix 900+ watts PSU (bought 5 piece this summer) at 20$ a piece (I can't find it even if i google it, bought at a surplus store) is very solid. that PSU have two separate PCBs inside and two different 12v source.

got some gold rated PSU like seasonic 1250xm (version 1) that is problematic (doesn't turn on after several hours of usage and sometimes restarts), I have a platinum seasonic 1000w (version 1) that is restarting but serving as a secondary PSU with jumper (green-black) to be always on, works very well.

majority of my gpu risers from 2013 still works. some of the usb cables are starting to have problems.

and when I experiment I still have my 280x's to try on them.  Wink

Is it possible to add PCIE multiplier to the 775 MB? If so, it is good for mining .

I haven't tried it yet..PC technologies are "standard", if it is designed to be used in a PCIE socket 99% of the time it works, just like a year 2017 1080ti works on a year 2006 PCIE motherboard. hope someone who tried it shares his experience here.

what we need is not a motherboard that have lots and lots of pcie...

what we need is an interface that can manage many cards where we can plug and play cards without turning off the system..where cards that have a problem would hang or stop separately without affecting the whole system so other cards will keep on mining.

with that kind of interface we can use almost any board out there..that interface should have a software management and hardware switches(like for disabling power) for the plug and play feature.

This mobo has usefull feature that shows what is wrong with PCIE! Smiley

Its far from plug and play but we actually dont have that many issues with stability of systems and if something goes wrong with pcie we see it.

cReepas

my old 775 motherboard circa 2006-2007..has led that shows connection state if connected..it doesn't show error color light but i can identify 1 out of 4 gpu is not mining by simply touching the gpus, the one that is not hot is not mining.

Hey check it out, iCECUCK is looking to protect his privacy. What's wrong with Manuro? Did someone LINK your transactions? #EPIC-REKT

You seem awfully concerned with the nitty gritty details of Dash. How come? I thought it's a complete scam. What's it to you iCETURD? Come on, cuck, tell us all how much Dash you hold. We already know that you do.

That never happened.

Sure and neither did Evan remove the reference node, right, iCECUCK?
Not everyone is as static and lives in the past like you. Things develop and get better. Blinding was nice, we found something superior. But I'm not going to tell you how PrivateSend is going to work in Evolution, because you'll sell your house to buy more Dash then. Nah ah. Tongue

Evan isn't even the only developer any more. Hasn't been for ages now, iCETARD. You might wanna get the latest memo because otherwise your trolling quality drops from turd to diarrhea.

What did you say? I'm a what? Sorry, drowning in buttloads of dough over here. Say again please?

DASHcoin is now already starting up again my prediction this month Dashcoin will go up and maybe that still have a lot of BTC balance there may be some of the balance will be bought in the dash
Just calm the traders may be a lot of yesterday's moon trapped, it could be next month we will get out of the trap.

Please note that this is the Dash thread.  "Dashcoin" is a different coin entirely, which currently ranks 418 on coinmarketcap.

Look at reddcoin it was like 2 sats on polo now its 50 sats since delisting. BCN will be better off

Polo probably scared by the margin possibilities, I believe you can magin BCN on polo right? if price explodes then millionaires galore

is bcn usable and mineable right now?

I agreed, this is same thing happened to DSH, DSH price is higher than poloniex delisted price right now. But of course it is good if BCN still listed in poloniex, but if dev does not want to do anything on it, then we can help nothing on it.

Yes, BCN is still mineable, I'm using one thread of my CPU to mine it 24/7. Or do you mean if it is profitable to mine?

DSH is higher than poloniex delisted price right now because poloniex did not put DSH on BTC trading even after changing "10,000 to 1" in coin denomintaion...

DSH applied the "10:000 to 1" to be able to enter BTC pairing, since being a 100% clone of BCN means DSH have 180+ billions max supply, BCN trading at that time was 4 to 10 satoshi so DSH have to be 0.xxxx satoshis, poloniex don't trade on sub-satoshi levels like hitbtc.

DSH WAS the first and only BCN's 100% clone.

Now DSH seems will die very soon because of MG fork and hitbtc support of this fork.

Ya, I saw that news about DSH by minergate, but I did not know hitbtc will support minergate's fork... Minergate forked it because did not aware of new wallet released by DSH, and keep mining in old blockchain for weeks. DSH dev refused to work out with minergate, and therefore minergate forked it to a brand new DSH (BTW, what is this coin calling? Dash Classic?)... Sounds like a joke to me  Grin

Dashcoin will remain as Dashcoin its ticker will remain DSH, besides DSH is also called "true dash"..there is and always one "true"

Let minergate make their own name concoction for dashcoin...fork off minergate.

Seems there is a time now to rebrand DSH.
We need separate the classic DSH and renegade's MG one.

New name and ticker will be good for first step, next we can discuss some coin changes....

Regarding name.. I think Dashcoin DSH is still the best name...we also call this coin the "true dash"... well there can only be one "true"

Let minergate call their coin...minergate dash along with the fakery of the copycat darkcoin/xcoin/dash.

For me, sticking with the name which is a proven good name is a must..

I will edit OP once I get home in about 4 days...I'm far away from home and I would not dare try to edit DSH ann on a phone lol.
