AMD Crimson 15.12 - Windows 10

Claymore 1.2 Beta - 194.8MH/s (Stable)
Claymore 3.2 Beta - 195.6MH/s (Crash after 1 day)

maybe this is why my comp freezes up...

it-s an open air rig. temp control and cc does not work as card will raise above temp secified and under the clock specified also. i am now also experiencing freezes... after a few hours like 5. the computer will freeze i asume this is due to high temp. i will try to raise fan speed to 100%

this is the card https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTgfA-4gkR-AAtI2JqYStf_R9WOBog7R4tQ23zYTTT345TuOLjp8Vw-4Pk

Xfx have notoriously bad heat sinks unfortunately Sad New thermal paste may help, probably best to try lowering both gpu and mem clocks and then undervolting first if you are unsure about replacing thermal paste. Sorry i don't have any r9 290 to know the best settings perhaps someone else can help with that also there are several methods described in previous pages to get underclocking/undervolting working with current drivers.

Unlikely, the reason his rig freezes is likely due to excessive oc the latest version utilizes gpu more so previously stable clocks may no longer be stable.

I use dual ethereum+decred on COINOTRON+Suprnova. I'm testing with 1 R9 290 abount ETH 28mh/s and Decred 700mh/s.
In suprnova panel i read 650mh/s average.. and it's ok but in coinotron i read always 20-22 mh/s.. so far from 28 that i read on my miner.

I'm the only one? It's my problem?

Currently I'm only mining Eth and want to test the dual mining feature.

What DCR pools exist where I don't need to signup?

Thanks

just provide BTC address

Thanks! Smiley

Running claymore's miner (eth only) for 55 hours straight with 0 eth rejects. Loving this miner. Smiley

i am getting rejects all the time ;(

i did delete DAG 2 times already but i am still getting rejects. any1 an idea why?

using following command

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -esm 1 -ewal 0xCcB701a1F4axxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.rig2 -epsw x

also tried us1 adress for stratum, but no changes

I guess log is ok, this is not miner issue.
But it there any way to handle this error and run some reboot.bat?

Your card ignores OpenCL work somehow and returns immediately without any error, so you get such crazy hashrate. I will fix it in next update, it will show zero hashrate and therefore watchdog will work.

Please read Readme and FAQ in the first post of this thread before asking any questions, probably the answer is already there.

Use stratum - also tried us1 adress for stratum, but no changes. <- didnt see that part

when i the miner was updated to allow dcr stratum that solved my dcr rejected shares.. :\ maybe try another pool?

Just testing dual mining right now, interesting results.

On my 2x290x rig with dual mining my Eth hashrate goes UP compared to solo mining it. Also, increasing DCR intensity doesn't hit Eth performance at all(I tested all the way up to -dcri 70), from a performance point of view dual mining on 290x is "free". The only two downsides are that it does generate more heat and use more electricity. Quite literally the higher the intensity, the more heat. I'm able to fine tune temps by changing intensity Cheesy

On my main rig, 1x7970 and 2x7950 the story is quite different. Mining DCR doesn't come free, the extra heat generated means I can't overclock my cards anywhere near as much. So I'm taking a hit on Eth mining performance due to lower clockspeeds. Couple that with the fact as DCR intensity and hashrate goes up, Eth hashrate definitely goes down. I would have to run it for a few days in both modes and carefully work it out to see which is the most profitable overall. Maybe it is still dual mining, but for now I'll stick to Eth solo only and see what the 290x system brings in. That'll give me a better idea whether it's worth running a dual mode test on my main rig for a few days.

Anyone know a decred mining calculator that works? I've found maybe 3, but none are working.

Hello. I recently got the r9 290 card and it doesnt seem to work to it's full potential. hashrate starts out great like 27 mh/s but it will drop to 21...after it heats up to 94c (which i read is normal for these cards). the miner will show irregular hashrate for this card only. my other r9 280x are all stable hashrates. this one will sometimes hit 23... 25... 21... 20.. should i change termal paste? change clock settings? get a big ass fan and point it at it? i have also had a bsod issue but i solved it by forcing constant voltage. thank you Smiley

okay, while trying to figure this out i've noticed in gpu-z that, unlike the r9 280x cards, the gpu core clock for the R9 290 is always moving. i noticed that i get a more stable hashrate after mining a bit (it probably adapts) but it's always around 700-800ish core clock. if i set it to the default gpu core clock value (through the miner file) around 940 i believe, or maybe i can even put it a bit higher, I should see a stable and higher hashrate. this is what i'll try tomorrow but i'd love to get an opinion from someone more experinced than me before i do it. all input is welcome. thank you.

The 290 is throttling due to temp, is the card in a case or open air rig?

i guess your r9 290 is a reference design, they have a switch that throttles fan speed and increase the fan speed in catalyst.

prepare your ears though  Grin that thing is louder than 10 280x combined LOL

ok, this helped a lote. temp is now around 86. i think this may fix the freezing issue, which was the worst part. still, should i change the thermal paste? I have never done that before... so I dont want to do it unless I have to or should! would that help? should i change core settings also now that the temp is lower? maybe higher gpu clock and lower memory? can anyone give me a specific value?

thank you for your help so far guys.

never had the experience replacing the thermal paste of my r9 290 reference, i sold it because of the noise..try googling for that.

you might want to try buying a usb riser (3 feet) for that card and put it outside the case.. and lowering clocks will help lowering the temps but it might lose some hashes, anyway you decide and pick the balance, if you run fast and too hot the gpu might die early

Nobody has answered with my problems with this dual miner.  I am getting horrible rates with Decred.

4GB XFX DD Black Edition 380x
3GB Sapphire Vapor-X 280x

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool coinotron.com:3344 -ewal molitar.miner1 -esm 2 -epsw <password> -dpool http://dcr.suprnova.cc:9112 -dwal molitar.miner1 -dpsw <password> -allpools 1

I'll add the -tt switch.  But why am I getting all rejects?

over 4 hours and Decred is...

   Confirmed: 0.0000 DCR
Unconfirmed: 0.0661 DCR

I do not even have a single confirmed after that many hours!

Decred needs 256 confirmations to mature. The average blockrate is 1 block per 5 min. So you should expect confirmed coins after 256 * 5 min = 21 h 20 min. 4h not enough.
