2541  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Collisions on private addresses? Balances? on: July 09, 2022, 06:34:34 PM
Is it true if that were to happen, all I need is the private key to spend the funds?
Private keys are the means by which transactions are signed from corresponding addresses on the blockchain which were generated from they xpriv key. So, with the private keys you will be able to spend funds from that address.

If it were possible to generate private keys and public keys which has a balance on it, then it would not have been worth it, as the network would haveko value.

Of course, the network isnt as fragile or hackable as some people think and if anyone
could achieve what the OP proposes the BTC they steal would be worthless.

If I wrote a computer program that generates private btc addresses and then generated the public address, if that public address has a balance, and if I then imported that private address into a wallet, could I claim the money on that wallet?
You don't need a special program to generate private and public keys, any bitcoin wallet can do the trick. The odds of you accidentally finding a private key with a balance are extremely slim, but no one can stop you from trying. However, keep in mind that stealing someone else's coins is to be considered a crime in most jurisdictions.

Erm I dont get how someone would publicaly ask how to steal someone elses property?
and think its ok.

Obviously the OP has given it plenty of thought as have others, if you have the knowledge
why not use that to benefit the community?

Morning tip for you guys, play something agains Pavic/Mektic today. Pavic has fell on his hand during last match and fractured something, he can barely use his right hand. He is left handed so they will play but he can't toss the ball properly or play his usual two handed backhand.

Can't belive odds on Ebden/Purcell are still over 3. Forfeit is legit concern so don't use free bets or insurances on this one.

Yea I actually watched a bit of the highlights of that mixed doubles match and yea he had a
nasty fall on his hand. Thanks for the reminder Trofo I will certainly do something with it.

So another clinic has been put up by Djokovic against Norrie. Losing the first set and then winning the next in spectacular fashion.

This is now becoming a routine for Djokovic to lose the initial set but then come back strong in the remaining sets. However, this is also a nightmare for the bookmakers as when Djokovic loses initial sets, its obvious they had to increase the odds for him. That's the best time to place a bet on Djokovic  Wink
Norrie, played well in the first set but then never looked the same in the remaining three sets. What could get wrong with him that he lost consecutive three sets after winning the first one?

And I can remember that we have argument about this one, him deliberately losing the first set and then totally destroying his opponent, not just physical but the way he is going to beat them, the score will show that he didn't give Norrie any chance after that first set win.

I guess it will be Djokovic all the way, unless Kyrgios will have something to offer. But this is best of 5, so he needs to be very consistent in order to try and beat Djokovic, but chances is slim.

Yea its been a regular occurrence for Djokovic to do that, today now I am half thinking of
actually betting on Kyrgios in some way, maybe he can beat Djokovic. As I said in a
previous post he needs to step up, grow up and prove his remarkable talent, H2H he
is 2-0 against Djokovic, he needs to get his head in the right place and keep it there
for the duration of the match.
2543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who is your favorite artist for Bitcoin artworks? on: July 08, 2022, 12:56:10 PM
I've been a big fan of Fantasy Art for years, notably Boris Vallejo and Tim White so Bitcoin
and Crypto art generally fall into a type of fantasy art IMO.

I really like the art by Nina Yankovich or Nina Y., a mix of fantasy portrait art.

Rugby Union

The second games in the Summer International series are scheduled for tomorrow:

I would probably go with wins for all the home southern hemisphere teams
although Japan probably wont beat France who are the in form Northern hemisphere team this
year and are building for their home RWC next year.

England came close to beating Australia last week but it might not be so close tomorrow, Australia
to win again I suspect.

Ireland in a lot of opinions here are kind of regressing a bit, no silverware this year from the clubs or
international sides and the bit of a hammering last week by the All Blacks, it will be the same again I
fear tomorrow.

Kyrgios is lucky to be in the final, and I would not count him out completely, but this scenario is simply the best for Djokovic that could happen, from top4 players, two were out before the tournament and one withdrew due to injury and last year finalist withdrew due to Covid

Norrie will be down in three sets, probably, but still hoping to have at least @1.3 on Djokovic at one moment, to hedge outright

I don't think Djokovic is quite at his best, but yes, you'd expect him to beat Norrie.
I actually don't think it's outrageous to suggest that Kyrgios might win the tournament... whilst it's good for Djokovic, it's not absolutely ideal to go into a slam final having an opponent who is thoroughly rested and ready to go.

Tempted to put a bet on Kyrgios to win the tournament, odds are decent, and if he decides to turn up for what will be by far the biggest match of his career, he will be a threat.

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard Kyrgios was into the final, he will be
rested and ready to go. I cant recall having seen Kyrgios play Djokovic. Checking the
head 2 head shows its Kyrgios 2 - 0 Djokovic.....on hard courts and both in 2017 >
https://www.atptour.com/en/players/atp-head-2-head/nick-kyrgios-vs-novak-djokovic/ke17/d643

But yea its a GS final and a chance for Djokovic to get 1 step closer to Nadal's 22

and also a chance to prove to everyone that he can do something big without all
the smoke and mirrors.

You must have read my mind - this is the first time all week I've been able to sit down and have a look at this week's fixtures.

I'm going with the Sharks, Rabbitohs, the Eels (the Eels can't possibly stuff it up again - could they??) and I'm going to say an upset with the Dragons over the Broncos.

Cronulla Sharks - Melbourne Storm Money Line Cronulla Sharks @ 2.11 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.211 mBTC
Newcastle Knights - South Sydney Rabbitohs Money Line South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 1.50 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.15 mBTC
Wests Tigers - Parramatta Eels Money Line Parramatta Eels @ 1.21 Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.073 mBTC
Brisbane Broncos - St George/Illawarra Dragons Money Line St George/Illawarra Dragons @ 2.32 Taken Amount: 0.08 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.186 mBTC

Good luck to everyone putting bets on.

OMG the Premiership never fails to surprise and throw up strange results. Ok Storm lost
but the scoreline is just strange. 20 - 0 at half time and only scoring 1 try and 1 conversion
in the second half is abysmal. Just reading a few match reports would make you wonder
how they are in the top 3 ?

Good call Timelord on backing the Sharks, I on the other hand have collected another red flag!

2548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why can't bitcoin be based on something that has value? on: July 07, 2022, 06:14:58 AM

Like gold is not just based on gold if you ask me, it is just the market decided to play with it, and wealthy people are playing with it, you could give them literally manure, and they will make a huge market out of manure and act as if it is something super valuable and buy and sell accordingly.

ever heard of commodities? manure is a commodity just like oil or natural gas. or hay. its tangible product that people will pay for.
Quote
Doesn't mean that it shouldn't be something special, it just means that they could take anything, say it's "backed", and then do whatever they want with it and leverage it 100 times over to make money from it.
ever heard of pork bellies?

the goal is for transactions to be transparent. going back to the basics like fiat or gold or physical transactions will negate that aspect.
Bitcoin is backed by MATH and POW which the hashrate increased so much that if the power is converted to money is really huge. that's what backed BTC.

if you back something with manure then its a shit, maybe a community of farmers will find the manure useful for organic farming but its for the farming community not for all.

I'm sure everyone at some stage has come across the phrase "In God Code we Trust" That what Bitcoin is backed by.

BP® MINI Manhole Cover, Aluminum Edition + Walnut Display Stand

That is the most basic backing of Bitcoin, its what it runs on.

Basically it doesn't need to be backed by anything. In fact, the properties that Bitcoin was built with, are more than enough to keep it's value.
Take these examples:
Divisibility - in fact, there are no Bitcoins. There are sats. The code in Bitcoin core and all the math is made up with sats (I think I am accurate on this statement, correct me if I'm not). So you can have millions of small parts of a Bitcoin and transfer each of those parts to another owner!
Portability - Bitcoin cana be sent easily at minimal costs all over the world, even if there is no internet!
Scarcity - There is fixed supply. This is a major property. No debase can happen as it happens with fiat currencies. Take the example of Venezuela that they have been kinda rebranding their currency name and removing zeros by law.
Durability - Theoretically, Bitcoin can last forever. It won't oxidise, it won't suffer from erosion, it can't be destroyed chemically. The only thing that could hipthetically happen is all 21M coins be "lost" by means of losing all PKs of all addresses containing Bitcoin. What are the odds?
Sovereignty - this is another major difference. Among other things, this means that Bitcoin is the only thing that cannot be stolen from you in extreme scenarios. You can literaly take your Bitcoin to your grave and no one can take it from you by any means. Just memorize your PKs, yes it's hard but not impossible. As for fiat, things are quite different as most fiat in circulation are numbers in computers that can be controlled by banks, governments and can be taken from you even if you don't reveal your account password/pin/whatever.

These examples and a few others makes Bitcoin no need for any backup material to grant value!

and they are the benefits and features which Bitcoin provide.

Why would it be? That's the good approach and I like it.
I personally do not think that things that we have as "based on" are not really based on it neither.

Like gold is not just based on gold if you ask me, it is just the market decided to play with it, and wealthy people are playing with it, you could give them literally manure, and they will make a huge market out of manure and act as if it is something super valuable and buy and sell accordingly.

Doesn't mean that it shouldn't be something special, it just means that they could take anything, say it's "backed", and then do whatever they want with it and leverage it 100 times over to make money from it.

The thing with manure is, we all produce it, sometimes twice per day,
and there is so much of in farming that it doesnt have any real value.

On the Gold subject, do you have Gold in your back yard that you can just bend down
and pick up? can you run a simple program on your PC and get a Bitcoin in the first
10 minutes you try it? no! Gold is scarce, the same as all other precious metals....

and so is Bitcoin.

2550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 06, 2022, 07:07:03 PM
Wow, after three sets, Taylor leads and the bookmakers quotes are as follows:

1.30 Fritz, Taylor

3.75 Nadal, Rafael

To be honest, I really want to bet on both outcomes - Taylor looks like a favorite, but 3.75 on Nadal ... lol! So I'll hold off for now. I don't know who will win this game, but maybe it's worth betting on Taylor if Nadal wins the fourth set?

unbelievable play from Rafa, did not watch the match, but took to bookies and sae odds on Nadal @5.3, it was second set, 4:4, and I thought that he does not have a hand, if odds were there, so missed it

nevertheless, his win is probably magic, as magic can be, Djokovic made turnback yesterday, but Sinner was never really close to win, Fritz had fourth set until 5:5, and tie-break in fifth, but did not make it to ML

is it possible to see Nadal fit in SF? Kyrgios has historic chance on finals

We dont see odds like that on Rafa, 3.75 and 5.5. I only saw the tie break and was just
too busy to even check the scores from set to set. Thats the champions attitude, always
find a way to win, we saw it yesterday with Djokovic too.

Up next for Rafa is Kyrgios.

In todays Quarters I am fearing more for Nadal than Kyrgios. Fritz is going well
and has beaten Nadal already but yea this is a GS.
If we look just at best tennis levels these players can produce then I absolutely agree. But then you add the fact that Nadal is mental beast in BO5 matches and Kyrgios is quite unstable and then I am not so sure. Than you also add the fact that police in Australia are looking for Kyrgios regarding some domestic violence stuff and that he could get a couple of years of prison time....that will not help his concentration.

Anyway my initial bets for today is for underdogs to take at least 1 set and over games.

So he got the job done in 3 sets today, I wonder how these allegations are affecting him?
The match with Nadal will reveal a lot? whether he has become more serious, toned
down the aggro in light of the domestic violence.
2551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 06, 2022, 06:14:28 AM
Djokovic used his toilet break today to talk to his reflection. Obviously it listened well after Djokovic lost the first two sets.  Cheesy
But I really liked the way Sinner played today and I'm sure we will see a lot more from him in the future. I'm looking forward to the next tournaments with him.

LOL, he admitted that he had a pep talk in the bathroom and perhaps he wanted to psyche himself. Yeah, still impressive play by Sinner, taking out Alcaraz earlier and then almost beat Djokovic. He is still 20 years old, before we forget. So a lot of good tennis from this kid. And I thought that he can do it after winning the first two sets.

So it will be Norrie vs Djokovic in the semifinals, haven't check the odds, but for sure Djokovic again will be the favorite.

Well Sinner certainly has upped his game at Wimbledon, big dissapointment for him
though. Didnt Djokovic do the same at the French open 2 or 3 years ago? gave Tsitsipas 2
sets and then won the other 3!

Been a few nice green slips for me at Wimbledon too, the upset/comeback picks are quite good. Really wish had more time to bet live too, miss out all the 0-2 down bets but no complaints.

Kyrgios, Nadal or Djoko has to be the next casualty, agree? No problem for me to put one bet each on Garin and Fritz, but I'll wait for Fritz to get above 4/1 if I happen to be able to live, for now Aussie killer Garin @4.54, see if he keeps earning me money.

snip

In todays Quarters I am fearing more for Nadal than Kyrgios. Fritz is going well
and has beaten Nadal already but yea this is a GS.

kind of knew would be the case.

I have to be very careful with my betting/gambling, I have kind of an addictive nature,

A friend of mine who watches the charts I dont has mentioned to me on Sunday
that they are expecting a "buy signal" to flash in the next few days because of some hash ribbons

daily between $18k and $20k.

There seems like something is going to happen......

Yea I worked out my wage and it pretty much computes to what franky1 is saying.

My own take is that i'm not zure Bitcoins price is coupled to the US$ its just what the
majority quote the price as. I am in Europe and I never quote the Bitcoin price on here
in €'s but if I want to buy Bitcoin or need to sell some I refer to it in €'s.

Coinmarketcap has to option to change what currency you want to compare Bitcoin to.

on another note, a lot of people have yet to realise that if they have Bitcoin in a wallet, it doesnt
fluctuate up or down, its the FIAT value which so many focus on which does.

1 BTC = 1 BTC always
2556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 05, 2022, 06:32:17 AM

Tough test for both favorites. Nadal vs Fritz and Djokovic vs Sinner. I think if Djoker gets past Sinner, he will surely reach the finals as I think he should be able to beat Goffin/Norrie in the next round. Sinner absolutely dismantled one of the favs in Carlos Alcaraz with a convincing 4 set match win. How surprising is it that we are going to witness one of Garin or Kyrgios into the semi-finals of Wimbledon?
All these matches are going to be interesting. I was much into the game of Nick Kyrgios vs Cristian Garin, because both have given similar performance. They're close in terms of age, rank. Both are playing against each other for the first time. Nick Kyrgios is expected to make a win based on the odds.
Kyrgios at his top level beats Garin at his top level every time on grass and does it easy. Problem is, we never know when Kyrgios will manage to present his top level while I am quite sure Garin will play a good match and fight it out for every single point.

Sinner could be a test for Djokovic and Fritz already showed that he can beat Nadal this year. I am looking at outsiders to take at least one set as the bets to go for.

Yea when I see that draw I too would love to see Sinner produce the same Tennis he
did against Alcaraz, that would for sure trouble Djokovic, Which I would love to see.

Kyrgios firstly getting to the final would be great for him and then to win it would be
something fantastic. Hopefully he can realise he doesnt need to bring the circus act,
just bring his Tennis and he will beat Garin.

I'm the same as Trofo, I've had terrible luck this GS with betting, Cornet losing yesterday
was another.
2557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El-salvador bitcoin investment is underwater on: July 04, 2022, 09:20:43 PM
~snip~

Exactly. El Salvador's President knew what we was going to get into. Otherwise, we wouldn't had invested into Bitcoin in the first place. Bitcoin's been shown from time to time that it always goes up after a long-standing bear market. This is the moment to buy more Bitcoin, not to panic.

Only long-term "hodlers" will see the benefits in the future once everything goes back up again. Haters will always criticize you, but you'll be the one laughing at the end as Fiat collapses due to inflation. Who knows if other countries "mimic" El Salvador's decision to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in the long run? Just my thoughts Grin

Haters gonna hate.

Admittedly, Bitcoin goes through severe corrections from time to time. Fiat also falls every now and then. The only difference is that for the rest of the time Bitcoin is slowly rising while fiat is continuously falling. The haters can't deny that. If we zoom out, we're seeing Bitcoin's line going upward and fiat's going downward. That's something nobody can deny.

Bitcoin's critics are free to nitpick. We've been observing that all the time. They're particularly very noisy when the market is bearish. For the rest of the time, they're wallowing in regret.

Thats a great synopsis Darker45! the haters certainly do come out of the caves with the Bears.

...and "El Salvador" knew when entering into Bitcoin and taking the daring move of adopting
Bitcoin all the potential market moves. Its also clear from their recent DCA purchase that Bukele
can see opportunities when others see disaster. Its  something a number of us posted earlier
in this thread. It was the right move to make and the timing was right.

2559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 04, 2022, 12:07:39 PM
Finally a perfect betting day yesterday, hoping to keep it up today as well.

I am playing on Alcaraz against Sinner, Sinner is limited player in my opinion and Alcaraz should win this with some games to spare. I have simple ML on high ticket and -1.5 set handicap on lower stake ticket. On women's side I am thinking Jabour should win against Mertens without much complications and I am taking her -3.5 @1.6.

Due to the lack of events in the usual sports, I decided to bet on Djokovic today. I waited for the odds of 1.1 and got 1.11 with a boost, but Djokovic immediately lost the second set and made me a little nervous. It's good that everything ended in my favor, but such odds are certainly not worth the risk (although from the outside it seems that this is easy money in this case).

Tomorrow multy de Minaur, Alex 1,14 x Fritz, Taylor 1,2 x Nadal, Rafael 1,14 = 1,56 Is it worth? I see women have some "sure" games but I don't trust women's tennis  Grin

well they are very low odds but as you are doing multi you will compensate, from what I see Minaur has already beaten cristian garin 3 times so I don't see that Minaur will have difficulties in winning again. Taylor fritz also beat jason kubler once, and by the odds I don't see him having difficulties in winning this game, Nadal also beat Botic once, I don't see him having difficulties in winning this game either.

The odds have increased a bit:

van de Zandschulp, Botic - Nadal, Rafael (if Nadal wins, he gets @1.16)

Garin, Cristian - Minaur, Alex (in case Minaur wins it gets @1.16 )

Kubler, Jason - Fritz, Taylor (in case Minaur wins, he gets @
1.22)

Multi = @1.64

In my opinion it is a good choice
Those odds are way too low for me. I am playing Nadal, De Minaur and Kyrgios to cover -1.5 set handicap. For me it is almost the same probability that they will pass as ML and odds are @1.6 or more for Kyrgios.

I also added Cornet to win against Tomljanovic. Did not watch the match when Cornet won against Swiatek, but just that win must mean she is playing some great tennis. Right?

Cornet is the only bet I have today....so far. She has been quite good very recently beating
Swiatek and reaching the semi finals in Bad Homburg and beaten in the doubles final at Berlin,
so yea hopefully she continues and progresses to the quarter finals after today.

Seems like its worth. I dont see how any of those lose. Could also risk adding Kyrgios to the mix. Might not be worth the odds but he's been in form and out there to prove himself.

Ah its risky business betting on Kyrgios, I wouldnt be able to watch the match if I had him
backed, I would be stressed out.
2560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Strong Hands Are Buying on: July 04, 2022, 06:23:44 AM
The thing is that there will always be weak hands. They are the people who buy at the
top purely on emotion and FOMO and sell at the bottom* out of both FUD and/or having
put too much into buying at the top and over extending themselves.

El Salvador and Microstrategy being strong hands means those Bitcoin that have been
bought cheap wont be on sale again for a very long time. This creates an even bigger
scarcity issue in the not too distant future.
Those are huge as well, it's not like some regular stuff or a cheap retail investor or anything. Sure there are some people with a few thousand dollars who would talk about how they are selling and they are scared and all of that, which is understandable. But at the same time we are talking about something where the people who have been involved with this do not have any type of fear if they have enough money.

This is why I believe that we should not be really feel scared neither, those people with hundreds of millions of dollars, even billions of dollars involved in bitcoin do not sell and they are even buying more right now and that should tell you what the rich are doing.

Yes for sure but there are always going to be people who have weak hands they probably
dont follow strong handed people and listen to the wrong people. It sometimes comes down
