The final game in Gaastad tournament between casper Ruud and berrettini was as promised it was a total war and ended with 2 1 to Ruud, berrettini managed to win the first set but Ruud was able to make a comeback if it was on grass i think berrettini would've been my favourite.

Yea I watched the last half of the match, Ruud was pretty much on top for that time.
The commentators said that Berrettini's forehand abandonned him in te final set so the
score suggests that 6 - 2.

Yea if it was grass he would have overcome Ruud who didnt have a grass season really
or possibly if Berrettini was further along with his recovery it could have been closer.
Ruud though is such a strong performer, and has been fairly consistent.

and

In Hamburg Musetti was able to beat Alcaraz in 3 sets. I did a cheeky bet on Alcaraz half
way through the second set and got odds of 2.85. Alcaraz went on the bring the second set
to a tie break and won it but Musetti was able to claim the third. He was able to break
Alcaraz in every set early on. This is his first ATP title.

For the last game this weekend I'm obviously going to pick the Cowboys, who wouldnt as
the #2 team but the odds are shockingly low. I'm going to try follow the game and hopefully
the Wests Tigers take an early lead and the odds increase for the Cowboys.

I saw the first twenty and last twenty minutes of that game and it didn't occur to me to check the odds mid game.

The Tigers led 12 - 0, then lost 26 - 27 in the nail-bighting end to end all games with one second on the clock.
Watching the last twenty minutes, I really wanted the Tigers to win.

Seven from eight games won this round!

Timelord I picked up the Cowboys at 1.06 during the first half, then checked in at half time
to see that the Tigers were 16 to 6 for the Cowboys, the odds had gone to 1.50 for the
home team so I jumped on it. I checked again during the second half and the Cowboys
were something like 10 points ahead, I didnt see the end of the game, it looks like the last
few plays in the dying minutes were cruciall with a conversion miss by the Tigers and a
penalty shot made by the Cowboys . . . They dont get much closer than that.

I'm happy enough with that win for my wallet!

2544  Economy / Economics / Re: How much food can you store for survival?3 on: July 24, 2022, 08:13:01 AM
Interesting thread, I'm sure experienced preppers will have it down to a fine art, it would be
nice to hear if there are some preppers here on the forum.

I would say everyone has to some degree a surplus of food in their home but probably not
enough for 30 days. and the list philipma1957 posted in the OP should eb easy to store,
space wise in the home.

Since the pandemic and the war in Ukraine and the resulting inflation and shortages due to
both scenarios it has definitely got me thinking about self reliance along with storing food etc.
more and more.

So much so that this year from early Spring I have started to grow some food, basic food as
an experiment. Its easy over the summer to grow but during the winter a bit more difficult.

So what extra could I add to philipma1957's list?

Cheese as it potentially has an extended shelf live if refridgerated

Nuts and Seeds as these have a long shelf life and are high in protein ad nutrients and energy

Protein bars although expensive for their size they have a long shelf life and are high in . . . Protein

Fresh Vegitables Particularly Potatoes and Onions when stored correctly can last a long time and
are a source of carbohydrate and nutrients

Fresh Herbs / or dried herbs In the case of fresh they offer the opportunity to eat "leafy Greens" and
are easy to grow in your window. In the case of dried they can enhance the taste of an otherwise mundane meal.

Spices

Rice and Pasta Very long shelf life and source of carbohydrate

Other things to consider depending on how far you want to take the subject or how long you would consider
needing to be self sufficient:

Gas stove and gas
Water purification tablets
Medication
Fuel as a heat source for Winter

''Novak Djokovic will be joining Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray to play for Team Europe in the Laver Cup.''
''The event, which pits six European players against six from Team World over three days, will take place in London between 23 and 25 September.''
''"It's the only [event] where you play in a team with guys you're normally competing against," said Djokovic.
"To be joining Rafa, Roger and Andy - three of my biggest all-time rivals - it's going to be a truly unique moment in the history of our sport."

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/62262153

As Djokovic said, it will be really very interesting to watch the joint team performance of the greatest tennis players in history.
Recently, especially after some statements before the GS in Australia, it seemed that Nadal and Djokovic are no longer on good terms, but they will still play together in the European team.
This will really be a special opportunity to watch them perform together, for the same team, and enjoy great tennis again even though the competition itself is not so important.
Does this mean that Nadal and Djokovic have reconciled?  Grin

Yes, possibly after all they are "elder" Tennis players at this stage and will/should have mellowed
with age ?

This is a unique event in Tennis and more so this year with the 4 biggest names in mens
Tennis over the last couple of decades competing as a team, sharing tactics and
practicing together.

Team World dont have a chance

★ Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray have won 66 of the last 76 men's grand slam singles titles

★ Team Europe has won all four Laver Cup titles since the first was held in 2017

I am 3 from 4 so far which makes a change for me.

Rugby League

Massive win by the Broncos yesterday to beat The Eels, 14 - 36 and with great odds too!

Rugby League - Australia - Telstra Premiership

The Eels look to be favourites @ 1.57 against 2.29 for the Broncos, I might to a cheeky
bet on the Broncos.

I have the Sea Eagles for the game starting in a coue of minutes @ 1.64

Rugby League

I have two bets on the NRL for today, same as Timelord Panthers to beat the Sharks and

Quarter finals now in Swiss Open, still the top seeds are in this tournament, Ruud, Berrettini, Vinolas and Martinez.

Berrettini vs Martinez should be a good one, I'm betting on the over for this one, and maybe doing a Ruud ML. I'm also expecting for Thiem to go and win, will be great to see him going into the finals but it's going to be very tough to go against this seeded players.
Ruud, berretini and thiem have made it to the semi final, its promising to be interesting we have the first semi final between thiem and berretini, thiem is slowly going back to his shape but i don't think he is at the level where he can beat berretini i think it will be close but berretini will win in the end i think we will see a Ruud vs berretini final.

Ah its great to see both of these hugely talented players return to the performance which
is kind of expected of them. Berrettini is favoirite for that semi tomorrow, I think he might
be just that little bit ahead in recovery than Thiem.

Vinolas is having a tough set against Jarry, I would expect him to come through this one
to meet Ruud but I didnt bet on this one, Vinolas is @2.2 currently, It tempting to put
something on it now.

Oh well, I have Ramos-Vinolas at -0.5 at 1.85, and guess what the handicap score is? 18-18, damn, was very close. Anyhow, that's sports betting for us, LOL, was tempted to go with the ML, but I say that Ramos-Vinolas can easily covered that odds.

So it's Thiem vs Berrettini in the semifinals. Hard to decide who will win this match as Thiem is really performing at least 90% of his version that we used to see from him. I will not be surprised if he pulls a upset in three sets.

I think also that Ruud will go through and is favoirite.

Also as I suspected Berrettini beat Thiem fairly easily, Thiem has some more recovery
to get through but is showing promising hopes for the remainder of the season.

The semi-finals of the tournament in Hamburg are taking place today. I think it is pretty clear that Alcaraz will reach the final. In the other semi-final match between Musetti and Cerúndolo I do not have a favourite. The odds are also very similar and therefore only small differences will surely decide victory and defeat.

Yea Alcaraz for the final, I have been betting on him all through this competition although
I did lose on a handicap bet earlier in the tournament. I also have Cerundolo to beat Musetti,
this guy is on a high from his recent tournament win.

Rabbitohs to beat Storm. The odds suggest this could go either way, both teams seem to be
evenly positioned on the ladder with wins, losses and points difference.

@Timelord2067 have you picked an outright winner for the tournament? at this stage
last year I had Panthers, Eels and Storm picked, nothing this year though.

@MoparMiningLLC @Timelord2067, dont forget to send me your postal addresses.

tweetious has asked me a question regarding postage, The service I will be using is
standard mail. It would be financially uneconomical to send tracked unless you were
buying large amounts or the items were higher value.

I have many years buying and selling on ebay and elsewhere and im my memory have
never had anything go missing. [except once where I won an auction at a very silly
low price but the seller said he lost the item and refunded me!!]

Unofficial update - I hope to b taking delivery of the 50 copies towards the end of
next week.

2554  Economy / Economics / Re: Surprisingly, Elon's Tesla is not so keen on hodling BTC anymore on: July 21, 2022, 06:19:10 PM
I don’t think it was his idea to sell the coins but most likely the decision of the board. What is going on with the economy right now and how Bitcoin looked like it might break $20K (which it did after they sold) they figured it was best to liquidate their position at close to break even as possible and face as loss.

From what I remember they bought at $30K and sold 10% at $60K. So selling 75% at $29K is more or less break even. They needed to raise cash and with the stock going down due to his share selling and Twitter buying. They decided it was in the best interest.

I just heard this on a radio news bulletin this evening. The article states that Teslas production
is down 18% and profits are down too. So yea looks like they were forced to sell Bitcoin rather
than a casual decision and after all why else would a whale like Tesla sell to break even, especially
after HODLing all this time?

Did anyone came across this picture spread around the social media platforms. An 8 year old girl watching the training session of Nadal. This was taken during the year 2006. Can anyone make a guess who is that little girl. Concerned person have confirmed the picture and felt happy seeing it.

Rule : Don't go search on Google.

Naomi Osaka !?

-snip

Also let’s say that hypothetically he applied for a change of citizenship which country would accept it?, because currently no country would like to associate with Russians, hence I feel that he would have had a hard time finding a county that’s willing to accept his request.

Austria would accept, his mother is born there, and he was raised by his grandmother, which is Austrian, and basically raised in Austria

would not say that this is definite, but as per Serbian papers, he has enough eliglibility to apply for Austrian citizenship, and that was the direction he is pointing in, when talked that he will change citizenship

not sure about that, dough, but could happen in the future

There you go, there are lots of Russians who dont agree with what their country is doing
in Ukraine, they should not be punished just for being Russian. Rublev is lucky to have
a strong connection with Austria, I would say he will be accepted, Which country wouldnt
want to have a top athlete representing them even though Tennis for the most part is an individual sport.
2557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 20, 2022, 06:30:28 AM
Did you guys see Rublev's press conference? Mainly he talked about possibility to change nationality so he can play all tournaments. He got hit hard with ban at Wimbledon and he says if some other tournaments go that route he will have to consider changing nationality.

Furthermore he said that russian players tried everything to lift the ban. There was one interesting idea that they take ukranian players as double partners but nothing worked in the end. Really courius if those ukrainian players thought this was good idea. Sort of feels like they would have got some bad press at home if it came to fruition.

I actually like Rublev, he is a good guy, he is very passionate about his Tennis
and seems laid back and fun off court. I didnt hear his press conference and I dont doubt
that they tried everything to have the ban lifted. They indeed probably fear for future bans
which will affect their livelihood.

That was a great idea to play with Ukranian partners in the doubles, will we ever know if
those partners would be willing to do it though?

Just thinking off the top of my head, I suspect the Ukranian players are very passionate
about the wrong that is happening in their country more so than how passionate the Russian
players feel, generally speaking. I'm not sure if those feelings and perceptions would be a
factor for the Ukranians NOT to play with Russian partners, IDK

The odds are suggesting its going to be close, maybe a handicap bet on Basilashvilli might
be a consideration +4.5 @ 1.3 on Rollbit.

Basilashvilli this year has dissapointed, he didnt carry his in form momentum into 2022 he hasnt
really featured anywhere IMO. So yea hard to bet on that one.
Basilashvili  is so inconsistent, and I noticed a big drop in Karatsev's performance lately, this one is tough to bet on, I would personally avoid it, however in the same tournament Carreno Busta will be playing against the Italian Nardi, I think it's better to bet on carreno busta to win in straight sets, the odds are not bad @1.57

That was pretty clear in the second set. While Basilashvili only had to give up a serve in the first set he did not win a game in the second. Maybe it was too hot or he did not want to win. Karatsev will play tomorrow against Galán. Karatsev should win that game.

Yea he has gone "off the boil", I didnt put a bet on, too unpredictable.

I did put a -4.5 handicap bet on Alcaraz  which I didnt win because the last set ended in
a tie break win for Alcaraz.

Someone else to keep an eye on is Cerundolo, he won today, hopefully he can carry
his form from his tournament win at the Swedish Open!

Rugby League - Australia - Telstra Premiership

With 7 rounds left to go before the finals round 19 this weekend is throwing up some
interesting games for example the first game on Thursday sees the Broncos up against
the Eels, positions 5 and 6 on the ladder, the Eels looking to climb and the Broncos hoping
not to start falling outside the top 8 and fail to reach the finals.

To me both teams have been surprising compared to last year, Broncos were really under
performers last year and this year the Eels have had some really mixed results.

The Eels look to be favourites @ 1.57 against 2.29 for the Broncos, I might to a cheeky
bet on the Broncos.

The Panthers will host the Sharks and the Rabbitohs hise Storm, I think I will be picking
the Panthers and Storm along with the Cowboys in second position who meet bottom
of the ladder Wests Tigers.

I just store all my digital information in my personal laptop and when i'm gone,my family members can access it and retrieve the asset.I never part with my laptop,so no one can touch it while i'm still here.I know that it's not safest method, but i just like the simplicity of handling the matter this way.

Would you not be concerned about the security of your laptop from both malfunction
to being hacked? storing your digital info like that wouldnt be recommended.

I think anybody who has actually thought it through has a back-up plan for demise. In my case, there is 1-2 close family members who know locations of stored assets.

I had a conversation with them which indicated 2 points.

1. Don't trust anyone to convert to cash. Figure it out yourself.
2. Don't forget rule #1.

I have the same approach but I'm lucky because nearly all of my immediate family have Bitcoin.
But I understand trust in family can be questioned for a lot of people but in the end of the day
I wouldnt be worried what happens to it if I'm dead.
