And that would have won the bet, Djokovic win the match 6-3 and 6-4.
It is by far the best bet to take when thinking someone would have close match. +5.5 handicap is the only bet that guarantees you win if favorite does not make more than 2 breaks. All other versions or +4.5 handicap have ways of being annoyingly close but not good enough in the end. You just know you are loosing +4.5 handicap when favorite serves first. I like to eliminate stuff like that from my betting outcome even if it means lower base odds.

Good insight Trofo, thanks for that.

ALcaraz has posted a message on his Twitter account that he cannot participate in the Autralian Open. A pity for the tournament and for the organization, but also for himself. A fairly harmless movement has caused this injury. Since the Australian Open is not yet to start, it seems to be a fairly serious injury. Otherwise he would have had at least 1.5 weeks to recover and maybe longer. The way for other players is now open. I wonder how Djokovic will play. With the women it also takes some getting used to since Barty stopped last year. There seems to me only 1 person to be the real favorite for the title; the player who only won a lot last year.

This is some bad news for the tournament because we arent gonna see the no1 at the tournament. This will probobly mean that he will lose the first position aswell because he aint getting any points. Djokovic to win the title now looks even more realistic now that Alcaraz wont play on AO.

It's bad news for sure, I'm a bit worried that he is picking up injuries so early in his career.

Djokovic has beaten Medvedev and is into the final at Adelaide so yea it seems that he
is totally driven for this year, of course the 5 set matches are different but ATM he is performing
well.

With 1 top player missing in the AO so far it means there is one less threat for him.

Hi all,

I am looking to run some raffles over on the collectibles board and want to be able to
accept Lightning payments because the tickets will be very cheap to purchase and
it makes sense to use Lightning.

I have been trying to figure what wallet to use and have kind of settled on MUUN

https://muun.com

Why?

* It's non-custodial
* Seems to have a lot of security features
* Seems to take privacy seriously
* It's open source

...and seems to be super easy to use although I haven't actually made any transactions yet.

So does anyone else use it?
Is it as simple as clicking the Lightning tab and copying the address to receive funds?

I have done some searching here and there isn't much info.....

So it will be Djokovic vs Shapovalov, anyone looking at the over 20.5 here at still a decent odds for 1.80?

I'm thinking that this might go over with this score as Djokovic has not been found his rhythm, he needed to go this his bag of tricks in order to survived that game because we think it was over for him, 3-5 with Quentin Halys, serving, no one thought that he will make that huge comeback.

20.5 should be good, I do not see Djokovic pushing a lot, just like today, he make it when needed, and play as on trainings

and it is good for self-confidence, winning two tie-breaks, instead of winning comfortable 6:2 or something, where you hardly have a chance to stretch, and he is confident that when needed, he will stretch enough to pick-up a win in the end
it all end-up on Shapovalov, if he serves good, probably at least one set going to tie-breaks again

Ok, the match hasn't started yet, and there was some movement from yesterday's initial odds.

So I did put a decent bet again before the game, over 21.5 at 1.88.

Yeah, let's see how Dennis is going to play, he should try to push Djokovic here in the first and see how Novak will react just like in this match against Quentin Halys.
I don't like to bet on matches like that, it is just coin toss for me. Shapovalov is way unstable player to count on him against Djoković. If he gets a good serving day he can even win but if few close calls go against him he will add a couple of more double faults and then Djoković will steamroll over him.

It is still way to early to make serious bets on tennis and I agree that the best way is to try and play against favorites. If I had to take a bet on this match, it would be Shapovalov +5.5 @1.6

And that would have won the bet, Djokovic win the match 6-3 and 6-4. We have a very
interesting semi final tomorrow, Djokovic v Medvedev - that's going to be a close one
and I have no idea what way that will go, neither player has dropped a set so far.

TBH I'll probably skip betting on that.

The other semi final is Korda v Nishioka, again Korda has not dropped a set either, I fancy
a win for him.

Wow what a raffle, well done to all 53 winners,, that's nice to see such a wide spread.

Big thanks to minerjones for putting this together, this is probably the biggest free
raffle which has taken place on the forum?

Looking forward to next year already!
1645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 05, 2023, 07:07:49 PM
Đoković really struggled against Halys - a mediocre player with a terrible 2022 record. I planned to go for handicaps agaisnt Đoković throughout this year's AO, games like these make me feel better about these bets.

I will follow how Đoković is performing in the tournaments leading to AO, I still think he will go far there but I expect him to struggle a bit more than what we were used to so far.

@cryptofrka while he did struggle but in the end he won, and that’s what the difference is between him and the other player’s that he just won’t quit and his winning mentality is the best when compared to the current generation of tennis player’s.

Also I would yet advise gamblers to wager on him in case anyone is having second thoughts, because he’s bound to win many tournaments this year and I further believe that it’s only a matter of a year or two before he too retires hence he’ll try and win maximum tournament’s before calling it quits thus wagering on him makes sense to me.

Back to his match with Halys, I had a -6.5 bet on him but it seemed it was a tough match for
him, I'm a bit shocked with the result. So the upcoming quarter final match against Shapo,
I'm just taking the crap ML odds of 1.14 but doubling my usual stake. I am thinking of taking
him @1.6 for an outright win too!

I got click baited today with the headline "Ash Barty returns to AO" or something to that effect

and yes she is returning . . . to mentor the younger Australian players.
1646  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM rollbit $737.00 on: January 05, 2023, 01:30:47 PM
Rollbit support are very sure that you have multiple accounts which are permanently banned, the rules are strict about opening multiple accounts especially when you are suspended for any reason. Why didn’t you ask for what proves that Rollbit know surely you are using multiple accounts, is it the same IP address or the same documents you submitted for confirmation. If it was the IP address i don’t think they would ask you for KYC verification but who knows.
There’s much missing informations from you so i hope Rollbit see your topic and clarify things more and if it’s confirmed that you are using multiple accounts that’s your fault.

Rollbit can deny your withdrawal even if it's $1 only, it is not the sum but the action of the player, Casinos don't want their name here in scam accusations but an offense is an offense if you want to have a case then better post the whole screenshots, there's something on those screenshots that did not tell the whole picture, Rolbit can post the whole screenshot and if it is in their favor your accusation will be busted, so if you want to show more show it now and don't hide anything with your incomplete screenshot.

Correct, it would be something if Rollbit were being called out for scamming on a regular
basis by many users. As the saying goes "there is no smoke without fire" and as Pmalek
points out there is a lot of information omitted.

What I don't understand is why you are not supposed to have multiple accounts.
holydarkness already mentioned a few good things. Another thing you can do with multiple accounts is try to abuse betting limits. If the casino has a max bet of let's say $500 for a particular game/league, that's the maximum amount of money you are supposed to wager there. There is a reason they placed those restrictions. Abusers could try to cheat the system and create more accounts to bet above those limits.

Some sportsbooks, for example, offer bet boosters (the names of the platforms aren't important). These boosts are limited to 1-2 sports events per day. You can easily get more than you should by using multiple accounts.

By signing up to a providers platform you agree to their rules, multi accounts essentially
aid in bypassing those rules, it's cheating and or scamming. We all want to win
or at least enjoy winning but we sign up to play by the providers rules, without the provider
there is no chance to win and have fun.

Let's see if we can clock up a few more wins this weekend in the URC Round 12?

I have just placed 4 bets for this round:

Ulster to win away to Benetton @ 1.49

Cardiff at home to beat Scarlets @ 1.26

Connacht v Sharks, Connacht are favourites here against the 5th place Sharks and its
very doable for them when at home but I'm guessing a close game and have gone
with a +6.5 on the Sharks @1.62

Glasgow v Stormers, The odds are close here but I have gone with the #2 team, the Stormers @1.81.
They have only lost 1 and drawn 1 this year and cannot afford for the gap to open wider
between themselves and Leinster in 1st.
1648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 04, 2023, 08:14:48 PM
At the Adelaide tournament, Sinner, Djokovic and Medvedev made it into the next
round. Djokovic plays Halys next.

I took a bet on Djokovic against Lestienne, -6 @ 1.67 and luckily he won 6-3, 6-2. The next
match against Halys could be a very similar result.

Oh, I was not aware of this tournament. I thought it was connected to the United Cup. So that the games take place in different places in Australia. But it is a completely independent tournament. I do not understand why they cannot agree on one tournament at a time in a country?
Rublev and Rune also played in this tournament in Adelaide. But both were surprisingly eliminated in the first round.
That is usual stuff when Grand Slams are played. There is 128 players in Grand Slam main draw and I believe another 64 or something like that in qualifications. All those players would like to get match feel before the main tournament starts and Australia is so far away that all tournaments have to be there, nobody takes that long flights just before the matches.

And training will only benefit a player so much but it's actual competitive game time
which offers players so much more in feedback, skills, tactics and brain training.
I couldn't imagine any player rocking up to play the AO straight from the training court
and having played the last competitive match 2 months prior.
1649  Economy / Gambling discussion / [POLL] Gambling 2022 - How was it for you? + - <> on: January 04, 2023, 08:45:22 AM
7 day poll

I have taken stock of my gambling over last year and have concluded that I broke even,
I have not made any profits but have not had any losses - overall. I wouldn't class myself
as a high roller gambler, I do a lot of microbes, I'm not looking to become a millionaire
from gambling but I do enjoy the buzz if winning occasionally!

Just wondering what state others have experienced over the year, not looking for numbers
or any scientific data, just interested in your progress.
1650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Microstrategy owner (michael saylor) holds huge amount in bitcoin on: January 04, 2023, 07:00:46 AM
In terms of Michael Saylor and Bitcoin, jumping in based on his interviews wouldn't be the
worst thing, but of course in principal it's not recommended. I would say most newbies
do their research after they make their investment

I read that he done too much research before going all in ,
anyone please can tell what things cause this much trust

Saylor has a very deep understanding of Bitcoin and can talk in abstract ways about Bitcoin.
I have never heard anyone say that Bitcoin is Digital Energy.

If anyone is feeling in the slightest way negative on Bitcoin I would recommend a 30 minute
session with Saylor to put things right!
1651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone making a living from Crypto Sports betting? on: January 03, 2023, 10:10:22 PM
I can 100% give you guarantee that nobody in the world could make a living out of betting on sports forever. Sure you could have a stretch, a few weeks maybe, a few months if you are lucky, if you are a professional maybe even over a year.

But, can you imagine someone making a living out of this for 30 years? That is how long people work on average, they work 30 years give or take, some people work even 50 years if they really love their job, from 20 years old or so until over 70 years old, that is a long time. So, I can easily tell you that it is not going to be something easy and it will end up being a bit of a problem for everyone. I just need to explain how impossible that is with gambling.

That would be something alright, to live for so long on gambling alone. I actually think there
are people doing it but I imagine their discipline is off the charts.

There would be a few elements to be successful:
Knowledge in the sport you want to bet in, or the game you play, although I'm not sure how
with games of chance.

Discipline to be able to react accordingly to various emotions.

I wouldn't have those traits in abundance and I know not to try it! so no I'm not making
a living from gambling.

Medvedev will play against Sonego tomorrow he is clearly far superior in this match @1.09 for him. Also low odds @1.01 for Djokovic in his first match in Australia. This 2023 opening tournament is good for Djokovic as preparation for the Australian Open for sure he is targeting a champion to add to his collection of GS titles.
Does anyone remember the great tennis star - Martina Navratilova - she has announced she has cancer and she is going to battle the cancer with all she has. . she has also battled breast cancer in 2010.  ...won 59 grand slam titles across single double and mix double

Yes I remember watching Martina playing as far back as the 80's and even up to last year
she was a commentator and pundit on Amazon Prime. She is Tennis royalty and it's very
sad to hear she has cancer.

My bets on round 11 of the URC went from winning 2 from 2 to 2 from 4 and your parlay Timelord
didn't materialise.

Cardiff at home were beaten by the Ospreys.
Ulster at home were beaten by Munster by one point and a last minute converted try.

Those wins were totally against the odds, Ulster are in 3 rd spot, Munster were making up the
numbers in the bottom half of the table as we're the Ospreys.

1655  Economy / Economics / Re: The Taste of an Economic Downturn on: January 02, 2023, 09:20:04 AM
I believe it depends on where we live, I live in the countryside, and all of our daily meals are self-sufficient, so we don't feel any change from the economic crisis. Most people in my village never talk about crises or recessions, and they don't care about what's happening in the world. The most significant change that we feel is the price of gasoline occurred at the beginning of the year when the war was just starting, but by the last months of 2022, gas prices had also decreased somewhat.

The price of "energy", Gas, petrol, diesel and kerosene have all made an impact on
people's day to day living but let's not forget the effect the banks are having on most of us.

Banks have raised interest rates to curb the growing inflation which means anyone
with a loan or mortgage is paying more now than this time last year and this is on top of
the added expenses which inflation brings.
1656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 02, 2023, 07:57:55 AM
GOAT discussions are waste of time for me, everyone has his own favorite player and that is his GOAT. I am just considering myself lucky that I was watching most of the matches form all three and I don't really care who is the GOAT. I just know that if all three played at the same time I would watch Federer for sure and he is the worst one per most criteria.

Anyway we have a nice road to AO tournament in Adelaide starting today. Not many big names playing tonight but I would love to watch Rune - Nishioka match. Rune made big progress in his game last season but hard is his worst surface while Nishioka is the best on the hard surface. I think this will be much tougher for Rune than bookies predicted. My money is on Nishioka +4.5.

You were right Trofo, nice pick and nice win! Rune did finish 2022 on a positive, he really
finished strong so he was favourite for that match.

Adelaide will be interesting, on the men's side there are a few to watch out for, Djokovic obviously ,
Medvedev and Felix AA, I will be trying to back all 3 in some form in this tournament although
the odds won't be great.

I'm looking at the list of names and other than Rublev I cannot see any others winning this.
1657  Economy / Economics / Re: Turning the Corner Into 2023 on: January 02, 2023, 07:32:53 AM
As long as we stay in crypto, of course there is still a high hope of success despite the many previous failures.

Crypto takes patient to succeed in it. Some make it quick as they introduce them to crypto. So they think it always come easy that way. Then they still lose it all through their impatient and greediness. Crypto isn't a get quick rich scheme. Although a project can turn you from thousandnaire to billionaire. The opposite can also happen as well. Avoid being greedy and learn to be patient can help when investing in the crypto space.

It does take patience. Hopefully all the new comers from 2022 have learned this and can
carry the new knowledge into 2023. It's going to be a good year, better than 2022 for sure.

There is no competition in the quest for riches and money. If one is better in terms of finance compared how they were in previous years it is a big achievement. Imitating people's success is one of the reasons many couldn't break their target and some experienced disappointment in the year 2022. 2023 will come with new scam formats and more shitcoins a time to update one's knowledge of what is known already so that no matter the storm it won't throw us off balance.

That's for sure, it's up to us all to be vigilante and try be smarter than the scammers.

Personally I don't care about any $hitcoins, I don't get drawn away from my main focus
on Bitcoin and I would hope more people do the same.
1658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto (btc) is not for the weak on: January 01, 2023, 04:49:40 PM
There will always be those who need proof of Bitcoins growth, that proof is most visible
in the market price. Those people are not going to buy now but rather when the price
heads towards the ATH, it's visible then and the thinking of "it's going to keep going up"

Education in Bitcoin is essential really, not just in the technicalities of how it works but
also in the market movements and the effects it can have on the mentality of the "weak"
and "uneducated".

Well done DiMarxist.

I hope you have been around Bitcoin for a while and are aware of the market effects and
the volatility they bring? Just keep calm, don't panic and believe in the future of Bitcoin.
I hope you are aware that you should be looking to the long term and that you know
the concepts of HODL and DCA.

DCA - Dollar Cost Average - don't try and time the lows to buy, just buy when you can and
you average out over time your overall buy price.

I wish you well in your Bitcoin journey and your growing of your wallet balance.

The big three don't play together anymore.
Federer has already retired and Nadal is struggling with numerous injuries, while Djokovic was banned from several GS because of his stance on vaccinations.
This is the very beginning of the year and it is very difficult to say how ready the players will be, but I personally believe that Djokovic will be especially motivated at the GS in Australia because of everything that happened to him last year.
When he is so motivated, Djokovic is the most dangerous and I believe he will be the early favorite at his favorite GS in Australia.
This GS and this year are probably the last chance for Djokovic to overtake Nadal in the number of GS titles, because younger players are getting better and more dangerous every year, and tennis giants Nadal and Djokovic will soon retire.

Yeah, I think Roger Federer has to be one of the greatest of all time, he was so skilled but also very diligent. He was great in many ways.

There are many players that are either very skilled but skip training, or some players that are not that talented but just train a lot, Federer had both.

In my opinion I think only Pete Sampras comes close to Federer.

It seems to me that you are talking about things that can't be expressed in numbers, about the skill of a tennis player, the beauty of his game...
According to this criterion, Federer is also for me the greatest tennis player of all time, and behind him are Borg and Lendl.
However, people always want to choose the best tennis player of all time based on specific numbers and results, and the most accepted criterion is the number of GS tournaments won.
Based on that criteria, it is obvious that there is a great battle between Nadal and Djokovic for the GOAT title based on the most GS wins.

Yea we have been over the GOAT topic a few times already. There are lots of ways
people assign the GOAT title but it has to be given on Grand Slams won. The GS' are
the pinnacle of the sport, they are all 5 set matches which as talked about before is completely
different to the other 3 set tournaments and there are only 4 of them per year. Federer has
been left behind in this regard and it's only a 2 man race now.

But . . . Federer will always be counted "one of" the greats of the sport.
