261  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: crypto-prices.info - simple cryptocurrency calculator / converter on: December 29, 2022, 09:27:55 PM
All feedback, suggestions welcome.

What exactly is big plus + and minus - doing in upper left corner?
I clicked on it using several different browsers and I see no change whatsoever.

It actually adds the specific pair you've searched to "favorites" which you can check by clicking on the left (those upside down - dashes), and the minus sign is to remove it from favorites.

I've checked the site and it's quite simple, but neat.
However, you may add some more things like a running line showing different crypto pairs already with auto-updating prices, it'll give your site a whole new feel. Wink
262  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How badly can natural disasters stop mining operations? on: December 29, 2022, 09:03:30 PM
If a big number of miners go offline (or get stopped) the chances are pretty big the difficulty will remain high. So the small miners will not really stand a chance.
The small miners can chip in only after the difficulty adjustment has kicked in and reduced the difficulty significantly. This may take long(er) if the hash rate has dropped greatly...

Let's say that the difficulty adjustment (that I forgot to mention about TBH) takes place right after the hashrate has dropped significantly, won't the small miners still stand a chance at trying their hands on getting a block or more?
I'm not saying that they go for solo mining, my main purpose is to know that if a big herd of small miners (more than 100k or maybe more) go ahead and try their best to earn something out of this opportunity (only if difficulty adjusts down quickly), will there be a possibility they make some bucks against their mining activity?
263  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / How badly can natural disasters stop mining operations? on: December 29, 2022, 08:48:43 PM
I read an article which says that Bitcoin mining hashrate fell more than 13% in one single day, but yeah it recovered back since and is almost near to where it was. Bitcoin mining difficulty reached an ATH of 35.36T and it's being said that it may drop to more than 7-10% due to the US winter storms.

On Chrismas eve, BTC’s hash rate fell over 40% because major miners in the U.S. had shut operations due to the winter storm. While the hash rate soon recovered on Christmas day, peaking at around 247.87 EH/s, it has gradually declined since.*

The above mentioned statement shows that natural calamities can definitely hinder towards the growth of mining industry and even show such big plunges in the numbers. Do you think that some day, if miners are to stop their mining for a longer period, maybe a week or a month (very least/rare chances of this to happen), will it become an opportunity for small miners to merge and mine and try their luck at finding a block when the big numbers are out of the game for some time?

264  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome on: December 29, 2022, 08:18:48 PM
Warning: beta-quality software. Use at your own risk.

Somewhat-stable version: 2.2.5
Latest test version: 2.3.x

hey i tested your add-on and i really like it a lot, now i tried to take a theme for SMF responsive and paste the CSS and i must say it works but need to improve the code is still not good, for example the signatures don't stay visible as in the desktop but they are staggered and some things like the quotes need background colors but the important thing is that it is usable from mobile.  Why don't you integrate a responsive theme so that everyone can use it with a simple click?

How did you manage to use the extension?
There's nothing happening whenever I'm tapping on both of these versions, should I change my current browser (Chrome) and go for something else?
I'm not a Firefox fan anymore, so suggest me something else. Will it work on Kiwi browser?
265  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Understand settlement of BTC-6JAN23-14000-C on: December 29, 2022, 08:12:11 PM
Hey, based on what I learnt from the CM of Deribit,
"Options have unrealized PNL daily, this is what is being settled daily. Ideally, can you DM me and send me a screenshot of what you're looking at so I can explain with context?"

So, I'd like to ask you whether it's a derivative on Deribit?
If yes, please DM @MrJozza on telegram and even tell him that you were referred to him by me (Stedsm) so that he'll understand the matter quickly. You can verify him by going to https://t.me/deribit
However, if it's not Deribit, I'd suggest you to ask this directly in your respective futures' portal's telegram or send them an email to understand it better.
266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Die or Pump Up in 2023? on: December 27, 2022, 11:53:42 PM
Speculating on someone else's words is stupid because he just tries his best to manipulate the markets but the markets do not react accordingly nowadays and we don't see any big ups and downs in the price of BTC whenever he speaks anything about it. So stop being a sheep, be a leader and lead yourself. Listening to motivators is good, but doing what we want to do is great. I won't speculate much on the stance of BTC in 2023 as you'll not like it for sure, but there's nothing like BTC will ^die^ at all.
267  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid running into financial ruin this Christmas! on: December 27, 2022, 11:46:35 PM
The rich are not going to suffer from all this, those who will suffer are the ones who come under the middle class and lower class category. And mostly, people who invested heavily in crypto last year and even this year thinking of a quick recovery but are down a lot in their portfolio, should not spend blindly because if they break their investments to do that, then all the wait won't be worth it. I've seen some pattern on the chart and it says that we'll see a bull rally most probably in 2025-26 because we have been thrown back in time after all the mess that took place this year. Stay calm, and remember to keep your investments intact. I mean, if you've invested somewhere, just forget about it and try to find some other sources for your expenses (even if they are regarding celebrations of a festival).
268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the vaccine against the CBDC virus on: December 27, 2022, 10:57:24 PM
I really don't think that we need CBDCs at all in our life.
It's like they're hammering their own head by doing this, because we already have PayPal and other various e-currency platforms allowing us to perform transactions in different currencies of the world, so what's the real point of coming up with a CBDC? That's just because they (your government) want to keep a track record of all your transactions directly and so they'll lure you to use their CBDCs and save on fees that you pay to these e-currency vendors. However, we in India already have UPI services that allow us to send INR from one account to another without any fee (mostly). So I don't understand the point of coming up with a CBDC when we already have the solutions available to transact our traditional fiat currency faster and cheaper.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin decimals. Is 1.00000000 Bitcoin the same as 1.000000000000 Bitcoin? on: December 27, 2022, 10:44:42 PM
The addition of decimals won't increase the supply by any means, it's just giving the users an additional way of distributing their coins in a whole new way, i.e.; instead of having 8 decimals only, they now have 12 (or whatever number you choose) decimals that can be used as denomination to distribute their coins by being able to send them with such long decimals.

270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Rank positions on CMC changes every bull market? on: December 22, 2022, 10:51:07 PM
TBH (except a glitch that took place in a coin's martketcap number), I have never seen anything replacing Bitcoin at least from its top position, and if I'm not wrong, even Ethereum had always been holding 2nd position since it was born. If you speak about top 20, regardless of the first 2, others may change their positions based on their usage and number of total coins in circulation based on which their martketcap will increase or decrease if their value does/doesn't continue to rise/fall with time and other crypto tokens take over/get behind them. In crypto, nothing is permanent so holding a position also possess the same saying.
Nope, XRP (Ripple) ever taken 2nd place from ETH back then, just for a while though before it dropped to top 10 back then on 2017.

I agree, though I've spoken about the ones that have been hodling their positions since a very long time. However, there were also Peercoin, Namecoin, and if I'm not wrong, Litecoin (LTC) was holding 2nd position till ETH came into existence.

"In 2013 only 14 coins were listed: Bitcoin, Litecoin, PPCoin (later Peercoin), Namecoin, Feathercoin, TerraCon, DevCoin, Freicoin, Novacoin, CHNCoin, BBQCoin, MinCoin, BitBar and IxCoin. Remarkably most of these projects are still around today in one form or another, but only two of the top 10 still remain there: Bitcoin and Litecoin."

Here is the source to the above mentioned statement.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino bonus is it worth it? on: December 22, 2022, 10:41:23 PM
If achieving bonus requirements is too hard for you, casino also allows you to get yourself out of it by forfeiting the bonus yourself. If the requirements are too hefty, like 40x or more wagering requirements for each dollar or relevant crypto you get the bonus in, then it's really not worth it because you may gamble in greed of getting the bonus handy and that's when you'll start making huge mistakes and will lose your capital too.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two types of predictors in bitcoin market. on: December 22, 2022, 10:24:05 PM
First of all, banks will not adopt Bitcoin as a reserve currency, at least not for some decades because they need stability and Bitcoin doesn't have it. Next, listening to any big name in crypto (be it Musk or Saylor) is literally stupid because they change their statements with time. Let Michael Saylor see BTC near $10k (if BTC ever reaches there during this bear run) and then we'll see his new colors about the giant crypto.
273  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin cycles, this is the cyclical minimum on: December 21, 2022, 01:40:48 PM
But we might touch the lowest line at $10k before it's all happen , can you agree with that as well? A great spike required a hard dump and people getting panic with the current sentiment that the bitcoin price by the end of the year to early new year going down to $10k even below that price target. Keep an eye to this situation , we never know.

I agree with you on that, as the final downside leg of BTC is yet to take place IMHO and it might make it fall even below $10k because the bottom has not yet been created, else we'd have seen a strong bounce back from $15500 itself. I strongly believe that a big move will take place during the last week of December or till mid January, be it a shot down or a straight big green candle. Be prepared for the volatility and trade safe.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the perfect time to invest in Bitcoin on: December 21, 2022, 12:22:04 PM
Hi,
In the next 10 years the physical money will be nonexistent, so there is perfect time to invest in crypto.
Thanks

You know something?
Traders always used to "wait" too much, they wanted BTC to be $10 or less when it cracked $30, they wanted BTC to be under $300 when it broke $1000 and the story goes on and on until we saw it above $65k and then traders thought that we will surely have a bearish run and we will buy it if it comes near $25k. The recent bottom that it touched (which in my views is still not a bottom yet) was around $15500.
Now, everyone is fearing whether some shitty games get played and a news come out that an exchange has been hacked and funds stolen, and the exchange's name is in the list of most trustworthy ones, we might see BTC below $10k too.
Those were the traders who wanted to buy it for under $25000, now what would you call this? A perfect time or should you wait more for it to fall to 0 and you become an early adopter of crypto by buying it from such level?
Think yourself, what do you want to do!
Don't listen, just do what you want to do.
Smart traders always do DCA and watch for areas where aggressive buying is waiting and huge accumulation might take place, they set their buy orders accordingly without waiting for the price to go there because they are confident that some day, their orders will definitely get triggered.
275  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Buy new mining equipment, don't be penny wise pound foolish! on: December 21, 2022, 12:07:08 PM
Not just limited to going for fairly used equipment, you also need to take care of whether the equipment is really worth it or if the person who is selling it is a reputed seller or not, as you may also receive a defected product and may never get it replaced or in some situations, seller doesn't even send anything and keeps the money and runs away. I have seen various mining equipment advertisements on Amazon and eBay, and they also have good reviews but you know, these things can be manipulated especially on such platforms.

277  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 20, 2022, 08:43:07 PM
There are lots of members on this forum who come from 3rd world countries and earning $3k a month (with or without paying tax) is just a dream for them. Not everyone in this world can achieve that position, however, they can save what they want to if they believe in crypto. ATM my best choice would be to save in USDT and keep it safe for the time being till I see some movement in major crypto coins and I'm also looking out for projects to invest during these bear times to give me the best returns so that I may buy more and more BTC and alts once they reach their bottom.
278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making post for merit on: December 15, 2022, 11:52:16 PM
To newbies, I'd only request to please keep it on-topic.
I have seen some good quotes merited too, but it depends on how and where these newbies use it.
The best example of merit giving festival was the recent Bitcointalk Bitcoin pumpkin carving contest where many users got rewarded merits and some of the best works even got some prizes for their works. If you have some skills to show off, merits are yours. Knowledge isn't the only thing to share, you can share everything, from news to your works. Wink
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doge can it go 1$ on: December 15, 2022, 11:39:25 PM
Anything is possible in crypto, and when an altcoin has a name like Elon Musk attached to it who is continuously trying to engage people in using it, and may even announce some day that Twitter will use dogecoins as their primary cryptocurrency for any purchases taking place over there, this will definitely give a boost to the value of dogecoins that's just a shitcoin and nothing else. Even the devs who created dogecoins just for fun have stated that it was just made out of fun, for fun by using it as a memecoin and now, it is being recognised as one of the top crypto to be purchased. However, even if it goes $100 (next to impossible), I'd never regret that I was asleep and didn't buy it at its early stage when Papa Musk was preparing his rocket to send doge to moon 🌚.
280  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance lots of FUD on: December 15, 2022, 11:16:19 PM
Well, it all started since the beginning and everyone in this industry is here to earn money, lots of money.
There's nothing wrong in doing that and even admitting it, what matters is how they do it. Let's say what you think is true ATM, and it's all FUD, then it's all good.
What will happen when it turns out to be truth? It'll be a nightmare for almost all of us because after the FTX shit, we all got our eyes stuck on Binance because we thought that their PoR thing is about to bring some transparency, still there are some disputes rising about their facts and figures that CZ has produced in public. Don't blindly trust any exchange and only keep that much money over there which you can afford to lose. We used to say this for any gambling or other niche websites where there are chances of either the owners taking away your money and scam you for no reasons, be it account blocks or something else. But now, I believe that this statement belongs to exchanges as well.
