Never chase your losses

For me who find it hard to accept losses, never chase your losses is hard to follow. The few times I have double bet to catch up
on my losses, I know this is not good for my bankroll. But I am only human who sometimes gets out of control. This is one of my
weaknesses that I want to fix, but I can't do yet.

Nope, you're not the only one, any gambler who doesn't have control on his mind while betting would do that. Be sane, don't go insane because money is money no matter where it came from, so even losing a penny matters. If you'll start thinking this way, I won't say that you'll be entirely in profits but yes, you will be under least loss. When you say "doubling my bets", you're doing martingale and it can only be good if you don't get too long a losing streak that you can't resist. I've also seen some players who just double their bets, then quadruple it and then go all in and lose. Don't be one of them, follow the advices given here and play safe.

...I will not be surprised if it reached zero in less than a year.

Worst was the case when people started comparing it to Bitcoin and said that BTC is now an undervalued subtoken and DeFi is the new dawn in crypto world. See, how quickly that rise of the dawn turned into fall of the night. Don't worry about its current price as it's been kept there by the whales and they will surely take that shit back over $20k once (I'm sure they'll do it) before they crash it badly like kids. When I'm saying this, I urge you not to take this as a guarantee of some pump incoming and when noon kinda shit and just take my advice with a grain of salt.
1083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it enough for YFI or are you still waiting for a magical pump? on: November 02, 2020, 06:59:09 PM
This was the hype which was created and those who knew would have made profits and sell their position. But those who had purchased at high price now will regret only as not seeing this going back again to that price range and might just continue to fall further only. I always prefer to stay away from such things.

Tbh, it was never sold off but the hype took off when the token got listed at uniswap. Then what, everything was the history as it created one through all the hyip surrounding and it all took off when Binance decided to list it, that listing literally gave a boost to the recognition of DeFi governance and liquid swaps. Later, everything collapsed at double the speed it went up. Sometimes, "Even Researches Can Be Challenged As They Fail, And DeFi Structure Has Been One Big Example Of This".
1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it enough for YFI or are you still waiting for a magical pump? on: November 02, 2020, 05:59:08 PM
From 3$ to 40k  isnt that magical for you? That's why you want to have it more. Secured your money already nothing last for long. if you were not secured your profit you may regret it later once the price back to which is the right value of that tokens.

The price correction is already happening will you wait for it to dump more ?

Neither did I buy nor do I suggest anyone to buy it, this question was asked just for me to get to know that did the hunger of getting rich overnight through DeFi tokens (especially YFI) has now been satisfied or people are still buying into these tokens thinking that they can go 100 or 1000x more? It's better to play Rocketpot instead of trading in these coins tbh, with stable payouts you'll eventually reach that payout one day. Wink
1085  Other / Meta / Re: How to increase Merit? on: November 02, 2020, 05:26:07 PM
@mianvicky1,
1st things 1st. Buy copper membership if you are literally interested in adding links in your posts and signatures under your posts. Though, I understand why are you trying to learn about "gaining merits" and that's just because you're solely interested in signature campaigns, if not, just simply buy a copper membership and you're fine as it allows you to get your evil points settled for your blacklisted IP and you can use the forum, though you're not entitled to join any signature campaigns ever.

Now, if you have been on this forum before and banned, then you're currently evading it and you're not going to be spared.

And one more thing, if you're still interested in knowing how to earn merits here, you could have done a smart thing by just Googling keywords like "Earn Merits on Bitcointalk", "Earn Merits Bitcointalk", "How to Earn merits on Bitcointalk", and you will get enough threads explaining the same thing again and again, so I et al are not interested in explaining it to you here again
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know what bankroll management is in sports betting? on: November 02, 2020, 03:59:50 PM
That's responsible betting at the minimum, betting with basics. I experienced betting for the sake of betting when I was new in gambling. Control was hardly something to think over. If there is a spare amount of money it could easily be spent gambling. Most often, it was just wasted. There was still fun of course but there was hardly any money from it.

With proper bankroll management and betting with basis, gambling could be both fun and profitable.

FTFY.
The most important part for a gambler is control over their addiction and their level of tilt towards gambling. If you just lean down too much whenever thought of gambling comes to your mind, you seriously need help quitting it or at least dropping that level to some extent.

Anyways, I have learned that you need to decide your units as well as keep it least against the ratio of your total bankroll in order to level up the variance - variance means when you are winning a bet but suddenly something happens that makes you lose it. So it's better to keep your unit size least in order to beat the variance twist.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Suggest the best strategy on: November 02, 2020, 12:03:32 AM

6. Paid Group
Or simply subscribe to a betting group and play their games strictly.

I heard this somewhere that paid groups that say they have got an "insider information" about a specific match and/or its bet and they will be giving it for the price of penny stocks, don't you dare to just go all in. I committed that mistake in 2017 when some user added me in such a paid group and they were damn sure about their 1.90 odds bet that it'll be a sureshot win, then they are purely lying about it. Don't ever trust anything that says they've got a sure bet because there doesn't exist be any such bets. Strategies are a part of our game and can just give us a bit more support to try to get more, so I don't believe I can call out any strategy to be best.
1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Is it enough for YFI or are you still waiting for a magical pump? on: November 01, 2020, 11:42:39 PM
I don't think I need to give info about YFI here as it looks like everyone already knows about the coins. Let's talk the topic then.

A coin that was worth $3 and whose developer himself said that this coin doesn't have any monetary value, but investors proved him that his thinking about his coin was wrong. From the size of a droplet to becoming a mountain itself, yfi took a very big volume in terms of having its own share of investors in the markets. Went to over $40k from just a $3, yfi caught the eyes of each and every investor, many of whom already invested whenever they saw it one leg down coming. Anyways, now as it has crashed to under BTC1, my question to you is, are you still charting it out and thinking that a breakout will occur and save you from the current typhoon markets or do you believe that yfi is done now?
1089  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you cancel BTC transaction with 1 confirmation? on: November 01, 2020, 09:59:26 PM
--snip--

I still believe it's a NO here because even if you double-spend, your only intention is to get your funds sent to the other party (or its destination address) quicker by letting your current (newly made) transaction get passed through (or in other words, get confirmed) against that same (old) transaction gets a confirmation and you can probably only change the speed of your transaction with fee increase through double-spend or increasing it through RBF, and not the destination of that transaction. Like I said before and as hatshepsut93 elaborated, you'll need to attack the Bitcoin network with more than 51% hashrate to be able to reverse some transactions but that's impossible. Wink
1090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Escrowed very important for bounty? on: November 01, 2020, 09:53:09 PM
Your concerns are very genuine and even I was a part of a bounty a few months ago (even calling it "a year" won't be wrong too) where I was offered some tokens for translating their ANN page as well as website, but after completing everything and expecting my tokens to arrive in 1-2 days, I witness how these companies have scammed us in a new way every single day. But I believe that the possibility of having these tokens escrowed is next to 0 because when we talk about a "launch" then nobody will take the risk of putting their tokens in escrow if -
1. Their intention is to scam
2. Their intention isn't bad but they don't trust this escrow system
3. They want to distribute their tokens on their own

It's not really easy to find out the reason, but this is why I avoid bounties.
1091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know what bankroll management is in sports betting? on: November 01, 2020, 08:44:32 PM
I would say these are some general rules for all games and gamblingd, not only sports betting. Managing risk, having patientce and cool head as well as to know your limits is something every gambler should have on its mind but in practice things often turn out very different. Knowing yourself and your own psychology is very important if you are gambler.

Knowing yourself couldn't help if you break your own rules, mate. When I said these things, I said them because I have followed them myself and the major part that I forgot to add is (I'll be adding the below para right now in OP):

Have an edge over yourself

It's not funny to gamble tbh, some people do it for fun but where's smartness in losing your money? Will you be called smart? No, right? It's better to only use and invest your bankroll in those games over which you have an edge. If you are sure about the game you are betting, then only use your 1 unit on that game, otherwise no need to gamble based on half (or 0) knowledge because we are talking about smart gambling and managing our bankroll. This assures that you have higher chances of winning over losing, and this edge will only help you gaining much more profits in the long run. If you don't know about a game, or yours is a few days ahead, just don't gamble and wait some days and let your expected game arrive.
1092  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you cancel BTC transaction with 1 confirmation? on: November 01, 2020, 08:28:55 PM
Sorry but it could only be possible with Replace by fee (RBF), that too if your transaction remains unconfirmed and as your transaction has 1 confirmation already (and unless a possible attack is made specially for you to reverse that block), it's impossible to get your coins back. Try asking the other party to give you your coins back as that's the only option seems to be left.
1093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Know what bankroll management is in sports betting? on: November 01, 2020, 07:50:33 PM
This is one of the major topics that is never covered here (or maybe I haven't seen any such threads related to this).

Deciding Units

I have seen many people getting confused about units and how to set it. Well, I've got a simple formulae here - just divide your bankroll by 100 and you'll get your 1 unit cost. Means, if you have $100, you should bet no more than $1 per bet doesn't matter you win or lose. This will give you 100 bets in total with 100 units available to play with.

Never chase your losses

Only asses chase losses! Haha, jk. But still, there's no need for you to go and double your bet every single time just to chase your total loss and get into profits. Trust me, if you eventually turn your gambling habits from being greedy to becoming a smart gambler, you will be in much better profits than just gambling it all away at once and chasing could be really dangerous for your bankroll's health.

Calm mindset

There is no need to feel bad for your loss, even if you lose 1 unit, you still have 99 left, so 2 more wins and you are in profit. Don't go all in on one bet, instead place your bets in parts. Opportunities are available every single day in sports betting, but don't bet like a gambler, bet as a sports investor and apply the rule of "1 bet 1 unit" and I assure you that you'll become a much better gambler one day.

Have an edge over yourself

It's not funny to gamble tbh, some people do it for fun but where's smartness in losing your money? Will you be called smart? No, right? It's better to only use and invest your bankroll in those games over which you have an edge. Lolz, private key is a ticket used to transfer your crypto? LMAO.

Great find, OP. I'm literally fed up of such schemes that these suckers put in front of me. TBH, these people visit us through various groups we may be involved in (like either bounty groups, crypto related groups or this forum itself). I believe that we need to keep our eyes, ears and especially our mind open in order to save our back. And binary options are a joke to me, so whenever anyone visits me asking to invest in their shit platform, I quickly block them. After all, when you're not expecting a PM from someone (especially something investment related), why should you even entertain them? Right?
1095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How far will you go when you sent btc to a site with high fee but... on: October 31, 2020, 09:36:19 PM
Waiting and watching can only be a good option when mining fees come under control in near time and the mempool gets cleared up quick, but after observing current situation about the fees, I have selected the last (and probably the best) option of replacing my fee by adding extra fee if I want to make a quick favorite bet on a gambling portal. I also have some good contacts of a few reputed gambling websites where I can ask them directly to credit my account with the coins and they happily help me out.
1096  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin price rise affect your gameplay? on: October 31, 2020, 09:20:17 PM
I believe that it may become a hurdle for those gamblers who believe that losing their BTC is costing them huge amounts in fiat and it's true also to some extent, because as BTC is evaluated through fiat, then the gamblers worrying about losing more USD even via losing less amount of BTC when the price rises is obligatory. I don't think it'll make any difference to me though because I love gambling more whenever price rises as I believe in my luck and when I win, I win big. Wink I gamble for fun, so it does not matter whether the price increases too much (except if it goes 10x and I see my bankroll to be worth something I may not be able to afford losing).
1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Tutorial] Making your crypto inheritible on: October 28, 2020, 04:48:38 PM
Yes, you'd just have to sign and broadcast a transaction emptying that address or moving them to the same address and renewing the transaction again.

Is it possible for you to perform this task as well and show it to us in this thread only?  Roll Eyes

Quote
I'd assumed you'd end up with a more favourable transaction though at that point (eg you get more funds).

More funds? How? Is it locked based on fiat and I may get more btc if value tumbles down? Or are you including the fee that is being paid? Please elaborate.

P.S. a suggestion for you here if it matters at all.
Actually, in your first image, you've shown your balance. It's really good to "show it off"  Grin but I believe you should have blurred it away.  Wink
1098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Card Counting in Blackjack on: October 28, 2020, 04:32:00 PM
I gamble Blackjack on tables where so many users play at once, and I believe that the potential of a player winning a game completely depends on what they choose and/or if the dealer busts or stands under our number. Next is, when we get 20 over there as total, there's a bot that "Hits" and it's not just limited to 1 game but that bot does it in each and every game so for the dealer to get the best upcoming card. I don't believe that card counting would work in such a game. Never tried this while gambling alone, will try to do it but I guess that after seeing some comments here, I shouldn't really try it as it may get me banned.  Undecided
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Tutorial] Making your crypto inheritible on: October 28, 2020, 04:13:36 PM
What happens if someone who sets, for example, 20 years from today's date but they don't die? Is it possible to cancel this transaction?

What if someone who sets it for 5 years later date or block, dies in a year or two? Is there any possibility for their known family member to get these coins before the set "LockTime" period by any means or they need to wait for 5 years before they are sent the coins to their address?
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halloween inspired poll –would your Bitcoins get passed on if you suddenly died? on: October 28, 2020, 01:28:53 PM
My brother was the person who got me into crypto, and that's why I have given him full access to my private keys where I hold some satoshis (yeah, my stash isn't that big but I believe I'll be holding some good amount of coins one day, or that these satoshis will be worth at least a few extra thousand dollars if BTC skyrockets to the level Satoshi expected it to, hehe). So I'm not worried about my demise and have 100% assurance that my BTC will get passed on to my current and/or future generations (if I manage to collect some  Grin).
