261  Economy / Speculation / The 'Game Of" How many BTC does it take to make $1,000,000 USD! on: November 19, 2020, 10:24:45 PM
This thread is to take a poll of what/where you think the price of Bitcoin will go to price-wise. Crash? Pump? Beat the All-Time High?

So OK....I'll start this game. Post if you wish on whichever dubious direction Bitcoin takes in price after my thread  here has started...but the

premise is:

Currently, it takes xxxxxx amount of Bitcoin to be worth $1,000,000.00 USD (ONE MILLION DOLLARS!)

Someone should be able to just scroll through the thread in the above format and see how the price goes round and round day by day!

So let us see..where the 'bouncing' price goes! UP! Down! Sideways! All! (It could do all it is BTC by the by and very mysterious IMHO)

Post the current 'piece of time/date' below in the above format...and we will see how roundabout BTC goes price rise over the next days/weeks/months.

262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen for Amazon to accept Bitcoin? on: November 19, 2020, 10:11:21 PM

From what I understand...most?...countries can purchase Amazon products...I'm unsure if 'free or reduced' shipping applies..but I'm pretty sure you can buy

Amazon anywhere. Again, correct me if I am wrong and you are overseas and cannot in some manner.

So with PayPal accepting BTC....and being able to get a debit card from coinbase or wherever....exchange (others) that offer same..

IF you are part of the 'unbanked' in the world, can you not simply do a KYC with your passport on an exchange like coinbase..get a debit card...

convert BTC to USD and use debit card on Amazon anyway?

I'd assume with Paypal offering a to take BTC....you at least could use the manner to take perhaps some shitty high inflation currency (Venezuela) and

convert it to BTC on Paypal...and at least guard in case of inflation of your shitty fiat currency from some countries and then use such to buy

products via PayPal and BTC purchase on Amazon?

Anyway...I'm supposing a lot above, but it has to be a lot easier to simply do a KYC get PayPal account and get BTC on PayPal to HODL or whatever and

at 'worst' convert it to USD to use in a manner you could get on selling sites like Amazon that used to be beyond your scope?

Those outside the USA correct me please, but some combo of the above should work to get a product off Amazon ...even if Amazon does not take BTC/Crypto yet.

I would 'suspect' as an aside, as happy as PayPal is about taking BTC and folks just planting it on their site for now, to HODL or eventually sell...Amazon

could probably offer the same kind of thing...you can HODL BTC at the price you bought and use it to buy stuff in the PayPal manner....anyway....thus my

guess

80-Searing
264  Economy / Economics / Re: Still confused why bitcoin is so bullish? on: November 19, 2020, 09:00:20 PM
You wanna know the real reason?

0 - printers doing brrrr to buy treasury bonds
1- this makes negative real yields on bonds (this push money down)
As of 2017, the size of the worldwide bond market (total debt outstanding) is estimated at $100.13 trillion, 100 trillion is looking for alternative
2- interest on term deposits in banks are close to zero (this push money down)
3- corporate bonds risk of not being paid is bigger than expected ROI (this push money down)
4- inflation and fear of inflation getting bigger and bigger forces people to look for assets that will protect their funds from inflation by accepting even greater and greater risk (because safe assets guarantee a real loss (expected profit - inflation))
5- this push money to real estate makes them super expensive (3-4 % real profit from renting is still not enough to cover inflation)
6- this push money deeper and deeper (stocks and dividend profits) but they are cosmically overvalued and dividends are very small
As of December 31, 2019, the total market capitalization of all stocks worldwide was approximately US$70.75 trillion. so 70 trillion is looking for alternative
7- this push money deeper into very high risk assets (bitcoin) - the profit opportunity is usually better than the loss guarantee - and bitcoin is worth only 300 bil $ so even a small fraction moved from above assets will cause huge pump here.

This pump is not caused by Paypal or halving. Who TF takes care about paypal? We have 100000000 ways to buy crypto. Paypal is only another one. Pump is caused by panicked investors searching for good place to hide from inflation.

“The United States printed more money in June than in the first two centuries after its founding,” Morehead wrote. “Last month the U.S. budget deficit — $864 billion — was larger than the total debt incurred from 1776 through the end of 1979.”
https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-printed-more-money-in-one-month-than-in-two-centuries

"In response to the coronavirus, the Federal Reserve has printed approximately $3 trillion. The total assets of the Federal Reserve as of the end of February 2020 was $4.16 trillion. By the end of July, total assets was $6.95 trillion."
https://medium.com/discourse/do-you-realize-the-massive-amount-of-money-printing-happening-due-to-the-coronavirus-pandemic-1f4347cc0404

In addition to the many points above..that are right on the money...so to speak...I'll add the following...

1) I consider Bitcoin as 'virtual land' there is only 21 million Bitcoin ever to be made and 18.5 million Bitcoin have already been made...thus...no way to game

the system above..and just 'print' dollars. Also, it is also much like 'owning' land or say a ranch near or next to say Las Vegas back in the 1950s boom days...you

don't want to sell any, or with my case BTC, in that I can't mine any more of any note..and in say the rancher near Las Vegas back in the day...his land was

also finite...thus you HODL in both instances.

2) How 'valuable' is the virtual currency (ie virtual land?) The original internet backbone the value was in the application to the internet backbone...not the

internet backbone itself as adoption rolled along. With Bitcoin, the value, for the most part, is in the bitcoin blockchain/network/backbone itself....the applications

reflect the price into the Bitcoin price of such applications. So rather than the price being in the app like Yahoo and the Inet backbone it is reflected in BTC price!

3) Is Bitcoin a more 'pure' way to have a 'store of value' than gold, in that it has the same limited value depending on scarcity..but if you are from a country

where it is 'wise' to have 'gold' under your hut for the next country/gov't/crisis...why not just have it in virtual gold? If it is 24/7 as a GOH plan to 'bug out'

in the next 'dangerous crisis', well BTC has a lot going for it vs lugging 'gold' about. I know folks from mining days of 2013 that when Ukraine was invaded by

Russia the folks I knew then  got 'all' their assets and money out of the invaded part of Ukraine..even though the Ukrainian gov't facing invasion locked down all the

banks and borders with this 'legit' crisis..the more or less got out whole. Thus, Bitcoin can be life-changing in such circumstances or as I see it, currently in places

     like Venezuela.

4)  24/7 access to your assets (ie BTC) w/o having to jump through a bunch of 'hoops' or talk your broker into releasing funds or waiting for bank hours.

5) You are in a country with high inflation $$$ like Venezuela, you can convert to BTC on your phone and limit such currency inflation and get away from

mostly 'useless' for international commerce the Venezuelan dollar! Smiley

Anyway, why I've mostly been in HODL mode from mining BTC/LTC from 2013 until 2019. Smiley

266  Bitcoin / Project Development / Voskcoin going Solar with POW Mining? Wise or Not? on: November 19, 2020, 08:01:54 PM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgMe1tTHpH0

So question? Is Voskcoin making the right choice for a solar mining farm and house on 50 acres.

Not a slam, on Vosk..he likely will pull it off, but the thread is can Vosk pull this off with POW miners?

I'm unsure, IMHO, my view is that 'maybe' POW mining is dead for even the sized project Voskcoin wants to do...may be too small.

In other words, are the 'big boys' going to wipe out even something the size of Vosk's Solar dream? Or the usual question, would you

not be better off just HODL'ing coin?

Anyway, your talks on if Vosk can pull this off? Is his reasoning based on his channel income mostly to keep that going?

Discuss here, I myself think he has big brass ones! Smiley

Consider taking the poll here. Smiley

Brad

edit: by the by, in the youtube video above he states he is going to try to only run the miners during the day on solar...again...I'm unsure how this boat

will float..but your thoughts here on how such could work (or not) please post here. Perhaps I am behind the curve and solar is at a point where even

I too could toss some panels on my house, for my own use, to mine and it makes sense. Currently, Xcel in the Midwest USA will ONLY buy back 10% of

my previous average for 1 year of electric use...and they re-check this average every 6 months...thus at $60 a month now for a bill...they would pay me $66

MAX and take the rest of the electricity back for free to them. Yeah, nice rackett...so the key here is a solar arrangement that is completely separate from Xcel...

ie not dependent on the meter.....which seems to be what Vosk is trying to do as well for the most part. Anyway, again comments and posts please. Don't

forget the poll! Smiley

267  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: November 19, 2020, 07:50:12 PM

Well, it seems pretty obvious to me, that Trump is not 'leaving' the white house, until 'maybe' (IMHO) the weekend before the Biden/Harris Innogaration...and

just not showing up for such either. I mean it makes little sense unless he just wants to 'delay' the transition during the pandemic, to dump even a bigger mess

on the next administration due to spite. It does fix his past actions with divorces and bankruptcies and the rest....sigh. Sad

There is even talk that he will not sign the budget deadline agreed to before the election...I mean really? That ends December 11th, 2020.

https://www.rollcall.com/2020/09/29/senate-ends-debate-on-stopgap-funding-bill-final-vote-wednesday/

Talk about a 'world of hurt' before the next Biden Administration is sworn in, during a pandemic, no less! Smiley

Not sure this thread should not be renamed to 'How will Trump leave the white house? Burned Down? or Not? at this point in this thread.

Anyway, seems I have moved past this thread's question..but I mean...one thing for Trump to 'grudgingly' leave at some point and another for Trump

to simply 'trash' the transition process for personal spite and/or further political gain.

anyway, sorry about the rant, but I 'wish' this whole transition of power after the election was as simple as when the OP made this poll and this thread. Sad

https://www.coindesk.com/litecoin-flips-bitcoin-cash-in-crypto-rankings-with-rally-to-9-month-highs

I got a kick out of the above. Litecoin passes Bitcoin Cash In Crypto Rankings. Nine-month highs is also just dandy as well! Smiley

As you can see here https://coinmarketcap.com/ even Chainlink has passed Bitcoin Cash in the market cap rankings as well!

I've always been confused on WHY the BCH and BCS sh*tcoins are up to 3x to 4x the price of Litecoin. I mean really, Craig Wright's Sh*tcoin

BSV is at least 2x as high as Litecoin even today! Sad

By the by, does anyone have any 'news' on why Litecoin is on a tear now...in the last few days? Or is it simply the usual Litecoin is playing

catchup to the Bitcoin Price and, of course, the PayPal addition of Litecoin...maybe...just lagging a bit before this latest pump?

Anyway, at an $85 buck 'floor' on the Litecoin I bought at a 'low' (sigh) on my 'previous' view of a pump...I'll be even... let's hope I don't

jinx it again, on the same LTC hope/pump this time around as well! Smiley

269  Economy / Economics / Re: The pandemic did push the world towards a more digital age. on: November 18, 2020, 07:54:45 PM
half of my expenses now happening inside E commerce since the pandemic spreads most of our foods has been delivered via online services.

Same as those other things that need to buy we uses digital payments though it is not crypto because the acceptance in my country is not that wide.

maybe this has no Big effect in crypto for now as we are still young compared to other digital payments but i believe that this is one good start for Cryptocurrency to at last discovered by the world and not looking as scam but as legit and beneficial .

In fact the impact of the pandemic on Bitcoin itself is quite large, within a few months during this pandemic Bitcoin has reached its highest level of up to 20,000 USD.  There have been many people who believe that bitcoin is a stable asset as long as Covid even has promising potential.  Indeed, not all countries have legalized it, but the pandemic itself has blessed bitcoin.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I mean, the pandemic has likely increased the speed of the 'gig' economy (yech!) in that 'everyone' could be or will be a 'contractor'

and thus not eligible for benefits and job security etc, etc. I'm getting damn tired of the folks working getting the 'be a rugged capitalist' and suck it up...like it is NOT

weird that under the supposed benefits of capitalism..you work 40 hours a week and can't own a house or improve your lot in life within 1 generation anymore. But then

I'm confused about full-time work not being fair as in my youth. (I'm 65 years old).

So to me, a 'gig' economy is likely after the pandemic and indeed will speed up to such...in that everyone is a contractor and can be fired at any time and also

has to pay own health/401k etc....add to that the innovation they are saying from the pandemic of MORE people than they expected can work at home now...

maybe up to 1/3 of white color jobs it seems. Let's not forget about robotics and self-driving cars..and all the jobs lost for middle-aged folk in fields like retail

and driving trucks etc, that will be 'informed' suck it up buttercup..and go back to school or work jobs now at 1/3 your previous pay in your 40s to 60s.

So again, tired of Corporate Socialism and no taxes paid and games vs rugged capitalism of the individual..the pandemic is going to really, really supercharge

all the above at the same time, I'm afraid....it will be an epic clusterf**k, IMHO...and an economic black swan event indeed.

Those in power with money, tend to keep and accumulate more power and money as time goes on unless 1) ethics business step in (private sector) not seen that lately

or gov't regulates..not seeing a lot of bankers go to jail either...going to be a combo of issues due to the pandemic and that means, IMHO all the above will get

accelerated indeed. Sad

Brad
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPals Bitcoin is a scam on: November 18, 2020, 07:43:48 PM
I am kinda impressed by PayPal however....the regular wallet and the BTC wallet are right in your face the same

size...I can see the amount of BTC I have on Paypal also (about 0.0037 some such...and I bought in at $50.00

and can sell out at $54.00 now. So for its uses...I can see why they did it this way. As stated before IMHO,

Paypal will use KYC and such with BTC in a debit card format to jump-start the 'unbanked' of the world in

dubious countries with dubious gov't and banking, bribes, etc. And IMHO will offer

banking itself and also be an exchange...just too...I see this as their real plan long term.

much $$$ out there for PayPal to bring in the unbanked using BTC 'security' and debit BTC card to 'jumpstart'

the process. Not a fan, BTC/Crypto works or will work at that point just as well without banking, but I'd bet my

own $$$ that is where this is going in Paypals view long term

But then again...PayPal could 'never' truly let you control your BTC/Crypto in and out I suppose. But it gives

newbies a foot in the door on BTC/Crypto, IMHO. Smiley Adoption/Adoption/Adoption! IMHO!

Brad
271  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal to allow cryptocurrency buying, selling and shopping on its network on: November 18, 2020, 04:20:05 AM
Happy to hear PayPal is currently supporting cryptographic forms of money, Bitcoin may now turn out to be more popular than previously, however, I actually don't trust in PayPal services.
They're horrendous to utilize, they previously restricted my accounts and I lose loads of cash.

I would prefer not to use PayPal as a wallet account instead will use blockchain technology at least they won't steal my money.
I've doubt they'll charge an extra fee on every altcoin you purchase. Anyways I stopped using PayPal I want to be safer.

What if Paypal will go to the next level which is putting up their own crypto exchange? Are you going to use it even for a try? Many people still using Paypal at this moment and as one of the biggest company I think Paypal can attract people to use their platform as crypto storage and if they can give lower transaction fees than in any crypto exchange.

I posted before that IMHO, PayPal is going to go 1) this first step HODL it 2) then allow exchange on Viermo wallet again... 3) then using a Paypal or say a Coinbase

debit card with a KYC for those with a passport from 'unbanked' or dubious parts of the world...bingo bango...Paypal brings them into the fold...because with

the security in the bitcoin and not just credit cards or banking accounts than 4) PayPal can offer with KYC and BTC/crypto debit cards above..offer checking and

savings and banking to the world's' unbanked' then 5) they will go full crypto exchange as you state at that point.

The BIG money is a way with a cell phone and living in a crummy corrupt country with no real legit banking etc...to leapfrog around this using bitcoin (the

the best method by itself) but in addition to traditional credit cards/checking/savings etc...

6) PayPal going 'full bank' and offering loans

I'm not hot on a lot of the above as banks or PayPal move into these areas using BTC/crypto as a security backstop for the above banking.

but it will happen if not by PayPal then some other banking method using blockchain BTC/crypto.

probably above is imperfectly explained and some will be dubious banking (or loans) but that is the trend IMHO from Paypals point of view for doing this.

Brad
272  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: November 18, 2020, 02:09:19 AM

I posted in the vote of option #2 Trump will leave grudgingly...

I think there is another option however not on the poll. My own view is after pardoning himself and his family and others in his administration in mass...

he simply will leave the weekend before the inauguration of Joe Biden's Administration...and go to Key Largo and not say anything. Never concede and

not to to the inauguration...and then start his new career on a new news channel "Trump whatever named news channel" even farther to the right of

Fox News, which then will be Trump's biggest enemy, even over CNN. He simply will pardon/leave and never acknowledge he lost....this is what he

has done with his past Bankruptcies and Marriages etc, etc. So I see the same game plan here. Of course, advantage: Trump with the pardons..at

At least he is covered lifetime and any other pardons from date of birth to the day of the pardon. Would it not be tragic...if he pardoned himself in that

the manner and it was upheld by the Supreme Court (likely) and then he announces that he really did shoot somebody in the street and/or the various

sexual assaults he admits to or financial crimes..and at the federal level (think IRS) he gets away clean with such an FU to the American public

as he strolls out the door...

He will do other stuff..but the above IMHO, I'm almost 100% sure will happen in the manner above...count on it.

273  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Trump Pardon Snowden? on: November 18, 2020, 02:00:51 AM

I think Trump will pardon Snowden. (I seem to be the only one voting such in the OP's Poll above)

1) This is because Trump has talked about this with his staff and press before that he might do this.

2) He can use the above to point out that he is for 'free speech' and hell, he might actually pardon WikiLeaks founder

Julian Assange...using the 'same' logic and muddy the waters on election meddling/if/when/but/or it exists or not. More reasons,

IMHO, to pardon WikiLeaks/Founder Julian Assange....then Snowden IMHO.

3) I'd guess that IF he did pardon either of the above he would pardon both

So I figure the odds are 50/50 both would get pardoned...which is much better odds than they will have under the Biden Adminstration, IMHO.

274  Other / Politics & Society / Re: america could turn to a dictatorship for decades thanks to braindead democrats on: November 18, 2020, 01:55:20 AM

The OP is mistaken. All elections are controlled by the states. If votes were tossed or manipulate in such a manner than this would be reflected in mixed

ballots for Biden but against a Republican Senator (same ballot). As an aside, as a country of many states, there is not enough organization to even

cooperate with the Covid-19 pandemic...and incentive on both sides of the political spectrum to cooperate as such. I can't even 'imagine' such a conspiracy

to operate in such a hidden manner and be successful. The country voted for a 'mixed' gov't thus the President as Biden and the Senate staying Republican.

Also, the court system, that 'bastion' of liberal types (kidding) has tossed out every frigging court case in a variety of states and federal courts...within like

5 min of the fact that there is 'no evidence' being presented.

So it is just a cock and bull story for the Trump Administration to further slam stuff though before the transition in Jan 2021 to Biden/Harris ticket.

1) selling lost ASAP in Alaska Wildlife Preserve.

2) pulling troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq by about 2/3rds...to be completed 5 days before Biden takes office.

I could go on, but the OP would not appreciate this. Just saying, the skills involved for what he is asking is not doable, IMHO. It is all flash/scare/blame

with no real facts...

I did, however, wet myself with 'joy' on originally reading this with my usual Bitcoin 'google' of the last 24 hours.

It is 'scary' indeed...when the Citibank analyst 'newbies' are all hyped up on BTC/Crypto 'hopem' in massive quantities beyond my original 'hopem' in 2013.

The BTC/Crytop Kool-Aid is 'strong' indeed...in 2020..perhaps you need to really slam the stuff to have an effect!

277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you buy BTC from PayPal now that they are letting people do it? on: November 17, 2020, 03:10:43 AM

I've splurged $50.00 on getting some Bitcoin on the Paypal site, using the buy Bitcoin option.

Kinda, right in your face, if you log on to your Paypal account and the first page that comes up shows (in my case) $0.00 Paypal wallet.

Then in 'still' large characters shows my Bitcoin Balance as $50.00. Kinda impressed. Right in your face along with your regular wallet amounts.

It also is very interesting to get on and see the value of the $50.00 original investment on the PayPal site...go up and down in value. (I'm unsure
...so
if fees were extra on the $50.00 I bought or in the $50.00 total I see for balance..but anyway).

So, just saying it is kinda slick.

I hope they add full in and out next year to the Verimo wallet (sp?) as they had before they went to BTC/ETH/LTC/BCH...so because it was done

before on that wallet...I can hope it will be added in that manner again in the future.

I am however, more than a bit 'amused' on the 'newbie' (we have all been there) additon of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) just before the fork..not sure

anyone saw that coming....a 'newb' mistake. But probably not a big deal...though it may have made a few folks at Paypal's hearts go pitter/pat

in discovering such after the fact...(er...my guess anyway)

Has anyone else done more extensive in/out with Paypal and other currencies on here besides my sit and HODL on $50.00 here? How are the fees?

Let those who sit on our hands on the paypal site like me know ..how it is working out if stressed at least a little bit more! Smiley

OK...so the catch is, I keep getting emails (not SPAM I asked to be informed) saying that I CAN now use the service. Yet when I get into the service it says

Not Bitmain, per say, I'm not a fan, but the AntRack 'concept'. Thus, right now, if I had to expand my mega data hall at 2c kWh or whatever...I'd 'on the get-go' add the permits and connections outlined by the Bitmain protocol above ...and water-cooling....which I was told is a whole nother permit process and hoops to jump through to get in place. But IF I had not already started on the new room/building or expansion..being the 'fantasy' btc billionaire I am..you could add these changes to your 'expanded' vision to incorporate Antiminer type protocols, easy enough. (I expect ALL major ASIC makers to adopt this idea of plug and play). So, being 'smart' BTC Billionaire (fantasy) and all...I get the units...put in place...they are 'upgradeable' from 5nm to 1nm supposedly...you can hot-swap...I 'assume' you could hot-swap different modules for different ASIC pow algos like ETH, LTC, BTC all in the same rack...etc, etc.

Yeah, this makes too much sense, especially if we are looking at a time line of Spring 2021 at best for this stuff and always remember Bitmain will run AntRacks in mass on their own data halls for 3 months to blow up difficulty before they go out the door to anyone else. So plenty of time to 'tweak' any big player, expansion plans as a big miner on any buildings or whatever...even if the concept fails and I don't use such Antrack connections...a small 'tweak' and plenty of time, with current plans, before 2021, to setup just in caese or likely, IMHO, that this would be the route a big miner would take. How I see this anyway, if I had the means to do so! (Satoshi contact me ...do I have a 'deal' for you! ) Smiley

Alas, I would have been a fine/beneovolent/happy-go lucky/bitcoin billionaire ruler of all you minions on bitcointalk...alas....not to be! Sad

What is the state of SIA project right now?
Is it available to make add a SIA storage as a virtual drive to OS for example?

I have asked sia-tech and folks on discord...but...to the best of my knowledge...you can make a sia storare node and such and play with it...but

there is not profit on the transactions ...even if you made your storage setup to test such..even with old used parts.

This seems to be simply a big data hall game...should they want to play...but mostly..IMHO...not getting much traction there either.

IMHO, unless ..their storage solution starts generating some money for people to actually start building such units..even if it is at a break

even point ..just to help the network....mininng and the amount of Siacoin out in the world ...supposedly in place for use by the storage medium.

as far as I know your solution to make a virtual drive could very well be the only option to get around what I state above

but I've heard nothing of such..you'd think they would promote such here on this thread if it had any kinda legs

anyway, not too hopeful on this coin..waiting for the 'supposed' altcoin pump, with the stablization of the BTC price at some higher level

and then most/if not all is getting dumped.
