741  Economy / Reputation / Re: Listing of DT Ranking Pipeline / Signature Campaigns on: January 11, 2020, 05:46:09 PM
well. the signature campaign you have for Searing is wrong. I'm with Yobit.

I tried Chipmixer...but was told that at Legendary and only 23 Trusts on my profile that it was not enough to get into the Chipmixer campaign these days.

Indeed, as far as I know the ONLY two campaigns that are not related to some type of gambling are Chipmixer and Yobit at this point in time. At least

from what I can tell at the below link. I won't do a gambling signature...even I have to draw the line someplace. Smiley

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0

Just so folk know. I've had no issues with Yobit as an exchange or a campaign..I think the spamming is pretty much way down now

but then again I'm selective on threads. Anyway, so it goes.

742  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trump's iran War Pump in BTC Price. Will it last? Poll. on: January 11, 2020, 06:04:26 AM
I've voted "No Clue. BTC is Mysterious.". In my opinion, it's already taking too long for BTC to hit its new ATH. Iran War or not, it would go up these days anyway, but we never actually know the reasons for yet another rising. Of course it's easy to talk about the reasons post factum, but before we are there, I mean, at the new ATH, no one can say when it should happen and why.

Well, it did seem to go up because of the Iran troubles...but BTC is doing what I'd hoped and is staying above $8K as a result of all this. In other words, Trump's antics put BTC and Gold

back up as options to an erratic world, and IMHO, in BTC's case...reinforced the notion of halving that is coming end May 2020, I think it is?

Again, it is not like, again IMHO, the Trump Administration is 'actually' going to have consistent policies on anything in 2020 and BTC if it is really a store of value in uncertain times

should reflect this.

or not...(what do I know at one time I believed the Butterfly Labs ASIC miner hype and drank the kool-aid...I was such a cute newbie back in the day)

Most of you are legends, I don't know if I fit very well here, I feel a little weird among so many veterans, being such a rookie disappoints a little.   Roll Eyes
Will I ever get over this feeling?

We were all noobs once. In 5-6 years time you’ll be able to respond to a noob like I am now.
Buy whatever you can afford to regularly a HODL (hold on to your coins).

Patience = Winning in the bitcoin world.

The Kool-Aid drinking 2013 'noob' I once was, still lingers...

I still make too many Kool-Aid drinking "this will all work out" noob missteps.

The 'addiction' to 'optimism' never seems to fade on crypto/projects/mining/hope'm, etc.

"I may not be as much of a noob as I once was, but once in a while, I am as big a noob as I ever was!"

744  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trump's iran War Pump in BTC Price. Will it last? Poll. on: January 09, 2020, 06:16:28 PM

Well, interesting times indeed! Do you think this pump in BTC price will fade as 'hopefully' Trump's Iran War talk fades? Or is this simply

a pre-cursor to the halving pump coming and this price will be maintained and go yet higher?

take the poll (I've not a clue!) Smiley

Brad

I'm surprised on the results it seems, the war has nothing to do with Bitcoin price, that is the general consensus of the majority here and I thought the Iran issue is one of the main reason why their is a pump, so majority here think it's not, and they attributed it to something unknown until that leaves everybody guessing.

If we are lucky, the Iran situation was JUST enough to shake people up and look at BTC as Plan B again, it is not like the Trump Administration is going to get any saner in the long term.

Then if they further thought about the Halving coming up...perhaps it was just a 'push' of an upturn? (a guy can hope) Smiley I need it to have a base price of $11,111.12 (for obvious reasons) as

the FLOOR on the future and forever price never to go below. Then I will 'officially' shut the hell up and never worry about price again. (It is my safe zone don't ya know..like a price pacifier

or blankie for me!) Smiley

Anyway, my Edward Jones financial advisor says the stock market is gonna dump big time, likely this year. We will see. Bitcoin is plan B in my book, for such.

I suppose this is why there was so many "troop movements" yesterday, give the Iranians some stuff to blow up. Now the contractors come in, spend money, and fix everything. Everyone wins, woot.

Which would be... interesting. I wouldn't expect Trump's team to know how to play tit for tat, or even what a tit meant (well....). We'll see what happens, but an unusual departure from form.

Has it been confirmed that Iran already "accidentally" shot down its own commercial plane?

I am not trying to discount their level of threat, but it surely seems problematic to be accidentally shooting down your own people.... I also realize that war can involve a lot of chaos (even preliminary stages of such).. so there is that, too.

Well, is is a bit of a mystery. Iran refuses to give black boxes to Boeing to see what happened. But on the other hand, they could just be doing this because 'pissed off' at the USA.

coins beyond 8400.  maybe btc takes off goes over 10k be weeks end.

Carries us all up to the ½ ing and beyond.

It would get a lot of people to buy the newer 5nm gear on longer delays.

I don't know, even at 10k my selling crap out of the attic and keeping it all in Bitcoin and HODL mode, still seems more prudent at my view of all this. Smiley

749  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain & Canaan To Release 5nm chip ASIC Miners in Q1 2020! on: January 07, 2020, 05:55:43 PM
So you think they're gonna start building miners with under 2000W power draw again? Have they ever gone backward in power draw, since the S3?

No, I really don't. However, the 'economy of scale' for bitcoin to keep its factories and employees open with the added problem of R & D development for new ASIC's along with other supply chain issues, I do know they have to move a 'minimum' amount of product (ie toasters) or the whole thing will become unraveled. So PERHAPS they might offer a low-end model for the above reasons to just keep the frigging doors open. But this would only apply if they can't move huge units fast enough at inflated prices, which will always be what they prefer. But the 'Needs must when the Devil drives"....so they might have to get creative to keep the doors open with all the overhead they have, even with a 50% cut in the workforce. I myself don't understand how they are selling the units they are now at:

(1) IMHO the inflated prices up by 1/3 more than I find in any way reasonable for ROI.

(2) Why the hell they are not shipping EVERYTHING to the USA to get around USA Tariffs via Malaysia where some in the USA are getting the product from (if lucky).

(3) How you currently can sell (mostly sell out) of Bitmain units that ROI in more than 1 year with flat difficulty. I mean are we simply dealing with clueless very rich newbies?

(4) How you can even justify ANY of the equipment above when Bitmain and Innsilicon announced they will go from 7nm to 5nm chips in Q1 of 2020. (A 15% improvement)

(5) And IF they really can get 5nm Chips out in Q1, they obviously will go to Bitmain Data Halls first and any 'overage' of 7nm will be sold to the clueless in bulk!

So yeah, I'm befuddled, to say the least on all ASIC miner prices of ANY flavor of crypto! Even without the USA 27.6% Tariff with import fees and less shipping. The math is so ugly as to be obvious IMHO, or at least at my 10c kWh electric prices. Sad

So you think they're gonna start building miners with under 2000W power draw again? Have they ever gone backward in power draw, since the S3?

I don't think so either...that they will build under 2000 watt miners again either, however, you COULD make a 'small' case that Bitmain is in trouble. They just laid off another 50% of their workforce on top of a previous 50% layoff of the workforce in 2019. So if you figure they have to have a 'certain' amount of Toaster's (miners) to get out the door with the economy of scale vs profits to keep the plants open/the designers of chips happy/the data halls/etc... and you'd probably have to have Bitcoin POP significantly to grease the wheels on the above. IT COULD happen? Nah? But playing contrary...the above would have to line up in the above for anything like that to happen.

752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 04, 2020, 08:26:09 PM
The account is "newby" yes, but not here, I follow the forum since time ago and sia too.

I have written because some affirmations I think are not correct. I speak with my own experience, I had good support with them, some boards SC1 1 gen failed me and they resolved the problem fast, updates ok.

Yes, the market is too bad for many proyects righ now.

the cloud storage is a good sector to stay, is a huge market, grow fast worldwide, has multipled uses too.

DCR1 was an error... yes, in the market too late, other miners manufacturers had a low successful models, what´s new?

""" So it goes FUD/Dismay on our lack of trust/ then blamo ...for companies like this in the USA....bankruptcy! """

for other side I think is good too be USA based, maybe It will be more easy to establish alliances, if it happen (may not happen ofc), with other usa based companies than outside usa proyects, more trust too.

Is not an advice, recommendation or blind believer, only depend of sia their future, but I dont see the scene so black like others users. Can be collect on Internet all info, with real data about sia, to create your own judgment, I can't say more about this.

No upgrade equipment for broken boards sc1 or sc2 ..no boards that could be used in DCR units to revive them....little progress from what I can see (compared to the sia-tech equipment dump

and siacoin's in existence vs adoption and siacoin difficulty..this is completely unbalanced vs the storage solution IMHO) Promises made that SC1 folk would be compensated and have not done

so ..even when SC1 and SC2 units etc were MUCH more profitable. Now I get an email stating they MAY pay us (in my case $600 in late compensation for SC1) IF they show a profit this

last year. (Damn near impossible for that to happen IMHO with the dump/dismay/dissolve of GRIN Miner cluster**ck...and demise). Also on the $600 supposedly I should have gotten from

the SC1 lateness...it also came when there was NO EQUIPMENT to buy from Siacoin even if I did want to flip such ...according to my account. I have a buddy that has 10k coming to him

damn hard to use it..if no equipment to take a chance on!

The list goes on, I'm sure others can 'chime in here' .....I continue to expect the worse and am not impressed!

753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: January 04, 2020, 04:07:57 AM
Hi all, Only explain my point of view. I´ve read last opinions, I disagree about some afirmations of the last posts, like "other 10 alternatives", no many improvements about sia, etc. With all respect I think that the sia proyect has a future, well... others have some features but are in many cases the proyect is new or with low real use.

sia is growing, with real proyects, now you can pay with fiat easily to suscribe storage services much much cheaper than other alternatives like amzn, can be check online sia cloud price fast. The used storage increases slow month by month, the stats are public on Internet.

For other side sia has a good volume of trade, with liquidity to maintain the mining network. I think too what with one strategic partner like big company, public organization, army, state or similiar would be more easy bring the proyect to other level. Self-replicating and privacy focus is a good avantage too, others dont have this posibility. For many uses is enought with the sia capacities.

Well, the future of sia I think depend on how to will be adapt to the future, but It is a good position for start, with dominance position inside their market.

Long life SIA!

Would be nice to see this from other than a 'newbie' account (sorry, just saying)

Again, show me the decentralized storage network I can build and make a profit on or at least show me some SC1 or SC2 boards out there that a person can run in the now 'defunct'

DCR1 miners.....they are showing no movement on anything, be it Sia-Tech (equip) or Siacoin (use) or Sia-decentralized network.

ie...deafening silence..they also admit they owe me around $600 from their promised 'compensation' for SC1 units being late...but also said in an email that they will only

pay such if they show a 'profit' this year. I am hardly encouraged. Sad (copy of that email should be in this thread yet unless they deleted it)

So it goes FUD/Dismay on our lack of trust/ then blamo ...for companies like this in the USA....bankruptcy! I still expect a Butterfly labs outcome where they devs/owners

walk away free and clear of any BTC or $$$ returned. The project seems to be the Siacoin project ...is a dead man walking.. has just not 'tipped over dead' yet.

Project is  indeed 'toast" Sad

One word "solar" Im solar powered off grid time to learn to mine!
@wlbryce

How much Solar do you need to invest in the house to run (at least during the day) a Bitmain L3+ underclocked at 700 watts at 450mh rate?

I suspect it is much more than the worth doing this for either LTC or BTC. But curious, if you have solar how does something like this work out? (or not today?)

Hello, I was removed from the campaign because of inactivity. I'm active on the forum again, how do I get back into the campaign?
Sorry, nobody is being put back in once removed. It has been said many times in this thread.

Thus, is the way of the Yobit Bot...it seems to me the whole 'campaign' is run in auto mode w/o pesky human interaction!

I rejoice, however,  to our benevolent Yobit robot 'bot manager' overlord....(tosses body on the floor in dreaded worship...minion that I have become)

Yep, I'm still on the Yobit Campaign...this will likely change on the next slip up, which seems to be not posting for 3 days or some such, not changing

signature in 3 days or less, so folks say on here. The 'bot' cares not for us 'whiney' meat bags.

I'm sure it is just a matter of time before I slip up as well on something. (Likely this post, the 'bot' will not be amused)

Piston Honda has officially pissed on this REKT pile.
How do you double tap $4000M then not maintain @least $500M?

Rated $1 now trades for 1 penny.

This a REKT pile.  Hanging out with NXT.

Someday TRX, BNB, XLM, IOTA, ATOMIC, ADA, especially EOS, will settle down to the LISK&NXT range.

Just to clarify this post above in this thread. LISK is no longer 3x the ICO price of 25c it is now only 30c above the 25c ICO price.

@ $0.538919
Want to bet it falls below the par value of 25c?

No...but at this point I don't really care anymore....I'm like the Waitress on the Dock in 'trouble' due to a sailor and waving at the ship in the vain hope that it will turn around.

very frikking unlikely!

All hope is lost here I'm afraid. Sad
758  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong protestors call for sanctions against HSBC bank on: January 02, 2020, 11:36:49 PM

I hate to say this..but it is my 'assumption' and I hope I am dead wrong, that once the ink is barely dry on this 1st phase of

getting rid of China Tariffs with the USA and vs versa. (They are mainly Agricultural from what I can see). I fear that China

with Trump now more or less being 'distracted' by (1) US Election (2) A likely cooling ecoinomy (3) North Korea (4) the other

2/3 continuing tariff issue with China (4) the likely further movement of Irag to Iran's influence. (4) Afganastan isssues. (5) The

Arms Control Treaty running out with Russia this year  and last but not least, (6) the continuing many, many, court cases and

the Impeacment.

So, I 'assume' any 2-3 of the above will be enough of a 'distraction' for China to go in and 'squash' Hong Kong protestors and

claim it is an internal matter. Even though there are a couple decades or so of them 'supposedly' staying autonomous.

Sh*t is gonna come home to roost in the USA this year, you can only kick so much down the road without clear actions and policies

before other countries will see this as a way to take things to their own advantage with 'supposedly' few consequences.

So my prediction is sometime Q1 2020 in Hong Kong this will unfortunatly come to pass. Massive Crackdown with troops. Sad

759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: January 02, 2020, 11:25:32 PM
Would you ever consider adding a 'solo' pool to litecoinpool.org? Nothing fancy, just a simple pool where people could solo mine and basically play a lottery. ckpool.org has one for Bitcoin at solo.ckpool.org and I thought you could do similar.

Thanks for your input. I'm personally open to the idea, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of demand (only a couple of people have asked for it over the past few years), and I'm not sure it would be high enough to justify the effort. I'll think about it. If anybody else would like such a service, please let me know (either on here or via email) so that I can gauge interest.

Honestly, my reason for reaching out is trust. Most people who choose a solo pool will either have MASSIVE hashrate or such a tiny amount they will never ever hit a block. Of those two, a majority will fall into the second group. With a tiny amount of hashrate, the odds of hitting a block are minimal and it would be easy for a pool operator to keep the rewards themselves and claim bad luck for the miner. I trust that you wouldnt do this so your pool would be one, if not the only that I would actually use. Looking back, my first payout from litecoinpool was almost 7 years ago and over that time you have earned my trust. Thanks for your consideration and your work for this community!

That was also a point I forgot to mention: Trust. So I would drag out the Bitmain L3+ and solo mine it on a pool you ran, however....no real

motivation to do so now, but again, if you had such a pool, I think a lot of 'former' folks on your pool would jump on your solo pool just for giggles

(and maybe some winter heat in the basement) Smiley

Well, this is not good for your pool in Litecoin land. The latest (only?) new miner for sale scrypt-pow wise is the Innsilicon A6 at $2,000 respectively and if you get one

today you mine at a loss of -$2.18 USD per day at 10c a kWh. (my data hall rates includes all fees etc). This one is at a $2,000 price tag.

https://www.asicminervalue.com/miners/innosilicon/a6-ltcmaster

The Innsilicon A+ at a bit more at 1gh moe in speed you lose -$2.50 USD per day at its $3,000 price tag.

https://www.asicminervalue.com/miners/innosilicon/a6-ltcmaster

So I can safely say, well into 2020, that the ONLY pool I might join is a SOLO pool with my puny Bitmain L3+. This is IMHO something you should get right on. A SOLO pool for when the rest of

folk drop off your main www.litecoinpool.org site and use these for doorstops. This way at LEAST you get a portion of something if someone hits some blocks with equipment that would

otherwise, sit in the attic. I don't see this changing in any way shape or form until way into 2020 myself. It is that ugly. This again, would be a good fallback postion for folk to at least play the lottery!

Anyway, I'd drop one on a SOLO pool you would run immediately. As it is now not motivated by other solo pools so they sit in the attic. Smiley

Anyway, my 2 satoshi's worth.

Brad

edit: Again, I think the demand is 'hidden' from those who have gone off your pool. If you offered such a lot of us would  likely go 'what the hell' and at least fire ONE back up on such a pool. IMHO.
