One of the more acutely-asked questions since the covid-19 pandemic broke out has been: Is the virus man-made?

Debate on the matter has been wild and furious. After much investigation, Chris is now chiming in on the heels of an explosive Newsweek report.

Newsweek reveals that as recently as last year, the US funded scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 'gain of function' research on bat coronaviruses.

The source of that funding? The National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease, headed by.....(drumroll please)....Dr Anthony Fauci, lead medical expert for America's Covid-19 task force.

Now, this doesn't mean the virus was lab-engineered as a bio-weapon. But it does suggest a naturally-occuring bat virus could have been artificially accelerated along certain vectors.

Of course, this raises an awfully lot of urgent and important questions.

So far, Fauci has not commented on the Newsweek report. But we will be keeping close tabs on developments from here...

If it did come out of the Lab this IMHO is how it happened: Greed!

https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2020/02/24/expert-chinese-scientists-sell-lab-animals-meat-black-market/

All that nice 'meat' going to waste that could go to China 'wet-market' for fine dining. Usually on this kinda stuff, if man-made, it is less about some

kind of conspiracy than just one schmuck with the means to toss a wrench in the works for self profit. Sad

Anyway, using the KISS principle that is again IMHO the most 'likely' way such would get out of a level 4 biolab....greed and stupidity always seems to triumph Sad

so Hal Finney and the other early adopters like Galvin and the rest...who gave feedback on how/what to do to improve and push BTC to the world...was just following

some 'random' guy/gal on bitcointalk on here in public and via PM... who knew the code and white paper enough that the things he talked about via bitcointalk were valuable indeed...

but gee it was just some random

guy/gal ..faking to be Satoshi..that knew enough to be one of the 'founders' on the round table of BTC and development of crypto..but what? The supposed 'fake' bitcointalk satoshi

was too shy? Had to hide his massive skills from all comers at the beginning of BTC? Was just being a 'swell fellow' and doing all the work?

What an idiot if he thinks anyone is gonna believe that mess of hooey.......desperate indeed it seems but not a lot of forethought on this current lie by faketoshi CW.

After 2 Years, Yobit Gives my Fujicoins back which was stuck in withdrawal process. I can't believe my eyes still. When I bought FJC 2 years ago the price was 8 sats. Now only 1 sats and other altcoin pairs still there. So what you suggest to me. I can not withdraw my FJC'S because wallet in maintenance mode. Is yobit accepted the cooperation with you Motty? Will they re open the wallet? Are there any hope to price rise again?
I would not really count on a very fast price increase. If now there is an opportunity to get at least one eighth of the initial investments, then you can take this chance. Although it may be worth the wait if you are in no hurry.

Again....I have 10 million FJC I can't move on any exchange because I'd be last on the list to sell with probably 100 million of FJC on such exchanges sitting ahead of me in the que there in the

SELL area on any exchanges that still list FJC...

no one is buying..make me an offer you can have the works. Not sure why? I suppose the printed out paper wallet with private keys would like nice framed as they are worthless these days...

You find someplace to sell or trade FJC for another coin..of any kind let me know..the problem with FJC currently is millions of coins for sale on exchanges and no one to buy

them or no other coin to exchange to.

hope I'm wrong but I have 10 million FJC let me know...so far its a 'no go' even a straight swap to other coins of any type ...not just selling.

Hello everyone, anyone who is interested in Cash2 mining is welcome to drop by my new pool with only 0.1% mining fees. -> http://cash2.ddns.net/

It is possible with miners who can mine the Blake2b algorithm. Like the Antminer A3, Innosilicon S11 or the StrongU STU-U2.

Can regular obelisk units also mine this old blake2b algo? (even thou they also can do the new blake2b-sia algo?) curious?

Anyone else getting weird emails from circle?

is it the new scam?

You have received 0.00056197 BTC from Circle

You have received 0.00069818 BTC from Circle

They look legit in source and links, but while I may have made an account there years back I surely never deposited that I can recall.

I just looked into it, and it appears that they are crediting for BCH and BSV based on whatever BTC balance that you would have had in your account on August 1, 2017... the snapshot time of the BCH forkening.

Thereby possibly screwing those account holders vis-à-vis their reported taxes (for 2017).

not sure about that..they were ONLY informed in 2019? (or is that not how it works)

I thought it had to hit your 'address' you control in the USA anyway...no control because you did not know this existed would be my stand on this

then again I may be 'naive' on this whole tax stuff

A game...PlanB suggests that btc will be at around $288K somewhere between 2020 and 2024, maybe more later, but let's focus on the $288K number.
Considering that it WOULD happen, what would be the $$ amount that you might accept right now for, say, 20% of your btc without the ability to re-buy btc or other crypto again until at least 2 years later (this condition is needed for an obvious reason):
a. 30K
b. 60K
c. 100K
d. 150K
e. 288K (that would be unrealistic, but, whatever)

My choice:
c. 100K

It seems that with my hoard that would be in 'trophy girlfriend' territory...the direct relationship of price per BTC vers USD vs my old BTC fart's attractiveness,

thus using the above my cracking point would 'probably' be in this ballpark if some potential gold digger was in the class of such below:

So re-looking at above ...considering what I'd have to sell to keep myself attractive and for 'trophy girlfriend spending maintenance' for such.

I'd probably crack and sell 20% at $150k (I'm not too pretty...so thus the high BTC price...those $$$ would hurt)

I'm a weak, weak, and easily deluded fool...indeed. Smiley But on the other hand, do know my 'breaking' point. Wink

Cuomo ordered random antibody testing a while ago.

And now the results are in.

21.2% or 1.68 million of NYC residents have had the virus.
It's time to get back to work. There is no reliable way to avoid getting this bug and it is not dangerous enough to lock down the entire flippin world. More people are going to die if we don't get the economy running again than the virus ever could.

In Minnesota in the USA the lockdown is working in the sense it is keeping people all from getting sick 'at the same time' and NOT overflowing the Hospitals...

Hopefully, some better treatments will come out of this as well. So you will never have a complete lockdown...but I think 'bars' and 'crowds' are out for the near future.

Working the plan here seems to be doing its thing correctly in my sate. So parts of the world it is gonna be like a 'brush-fire' though IMHO.

Also, within this state the 'economy' is limping along, I have a brother who is a car dealer and he is 'still' hitting 60-75% sales and making up some with repairs...and

has a big dealership.

So again, main thing is NOT to have happen which pretty much has happened since the times of ancient Rome, where the 2nd wave of the infection is 4x more than the

initial 1st waves out of I think it is in the past 4 waves total? It is basically math. I'll take the economic hit to have a hospital bed available if I'm one of the 5 out of 100 who has complications

from this and damn the economy.

Again, differences may much more 'dire' in countries and states that are NOT may be sticking to the social distancing plan as well as Minnesota..but seems we are doing better than most days

with this social distancing and the adjustments.... Smiley But then again, things may all go to sh*t here in Minnesota with nice weather and other factors and people getting complacent

anyway...how it rolls here.

if the roi was closer to 10 months, I might be interested. I try to keep the roi range to around 10-12 months because most of these type of coins just continue to lose value vs gaining value.

I might be interested as a 'toy' but you can't order and the site is 'dorky' they likely, are in trouble with the BTC/Crypto crash project wise....no info

you would expect on such a project even if it was just a hobby 'toy' home miner like the Gekkoscience units. Befuddling. Sad

if you want to get involved just buy a single Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, SD card, and PSU, install the skycoin software and you are good to go, you do not need to purchase this piece of hardware to skymine. it will cost you under $100 this way for one node.

however if you do want to buy this one (8 node skybox pro v2.0), I am selling it so just PM me

Wink

Good to know. You may want to paste this info out on google...get some press out for their project..there is a real lack of such, etc...I could not find even this on a search.

Just like I said, damn hard to get info on this yet...hopefully, they are getting their act together even in 'hobby' mode during the pandemic.

yes don't

get a trezor (get a coldcard) Grin
get it from amazon (get it direct from the maufacturer)  Cool
fail to notice the opened package  Roll Eyes
fail to notice the tampered-with tamper-proof seal  Lips sealed
fail to service your wealth  Wink

V8:  You were trolling us?   I cannot see the tampering?  Is there something wrong with the seal on that package?

I have a Trezor. I also have an Alienware r17 laptop. I tried to change my Trezor to this laptop. The wallet hangs. Contacted Trezor it is a known bug

with the Alienware the USB hubs put out too much voltage. They do not plan to fix this. So back to paper-wallets. Just thought it was kinda 'flip' of them

to dismiss..it is not like Alienware Laptops are uncommon.

Anyway, an aside. Sad

With Trezor, you can use any laptop with a USB...  and yeah, maybe there are some laptops or some USB interfaces that do not work, but it is not like you have to use any specific laptop... .. or that you will be stuck with the same computer (or kind of computer) for the next 10 years.. and even with USB, if there is some point that it gets phased out, then yeah maybe either you have to update to another kind of wallet or even take your 12 or 24 seed words to some other compatible wallet... Currently, USB is pretty widespread technology.. but of course, we cannot expect that there might not be some aspects that are not supported, either currently, or maybe when there might be changes to these matters in the coming years.

Not what they told me...they had heard it before and were again, kinda abrupt..use it on a different machine was the reply....might be a fix on that specific model of Alienware r17..after the

fact....in say later runs or some such..but in my case, they plan on no fixes. Or so I was told by the Trezor techs...just saying I thought it was

kinda abrupt and Odd as well.

Kinda put me off of the hardware solution, just saying, really?

Again, was an aside, I suppose I could try the dang thing again after the last Windows 10 1909

upgrade. I will let you know. I also forgot this is a top-end Alienware laptop 1.5 years old, was cutting edge at the time..so it is not that far gone yet.

Whatever I'll try it with the recent Windows 10 1909 upgrade...other than that I may be sh*t out of luck on this machine. Just thought it odd as hell.

This may be a dumb question.

But can you buy a Chinese made ASIC miner, directly from them and have it shipped directly to the above hosting you are telling us about? Like is done in the USA?

Any local fees/taxes/etc? Or other hiccups to be aware of?

Is there some kind of local tax...or is it just pay the Chinese ASIC maker of your choice of flavor/algorithm and the shipping from their door

to the hosting place without issues after the usual ASIC miner payment to the manufacturer and payment to the place you are telling us about to host.

Is it that simple? Of course someplace in all that I'd likely take advantage of escrow but that part is probably not a big deal to add.

thanks, myself and others await your reply on how this would go down within China proper.

520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: April 21, 2020, 07:11:55 PM
Tell me why SIA is not a shitcoin.

if you think that SIA is a shitcoin, simply find another topic and follow another project
5 years of working on a shitcoin here is too much for you to understand

it is a sh*tcoin in the sense that with the 85% of mining ASIC's from other vendors, that was dumped on the algo switch there is 10x the siacoin in the world that sia-tech expected..even though

they NOW again have a private network for their decentralized and anonymous store of info system using siacoin..they originally dreamed of! Before other ASIC's stole their thunder and pushed

up difficulty and siacoin out in the world way more than their original plans, due to the lateness of their ASIC's hitting the world. (They also owe me $600 supposed compensation for such lateness

they promised...I will likely never

I think they better get a move on making it worth doing storage on such a network..which as of now does not work even on very cheap used hd's etc and certainly

not something a hobbyist can ever make money on now! I'm talking 'break even' is far away even more daunting to put something up as a portal or node or even HD storage for

non-tech usual hobby types...they are generating no hype/or interest in their project just concentrating on coding w/o these details...losing out on a lot of maybe interested folk.

The other problem is ..folks have told me that they are moving into using big centralized data storage companies and systems..which also hardly seems decentralized

so if they want to get this project to work they better show some 'economic' reasons even if it is only break-even to put my $$$ into even a hobby node or portal and or

storage on siacoin vision....or it will just collapse under its own weight

I mean no one ever got in trouble with their bit giant amazon cloud kinda storage solution an IT guy is not gonna risk his job farming out sia-techs network at this time

why take the risk? What is the point...continue to use amazon cloud..never heard of siacoin and the project and if the IT guy has certainly his boss has not heard of such!

So some decentralized storage from the ground on up among hobbyists and regular folk better start first IMHO to get some hype going on this...or they are just spinning air

IMHO...and such.

By the By, the siacoin wallet also sucks..why not have the siastats.info www page ...going out of the wallet to hit that info to just get the siacoin address is just silly

information button or something on the wallet and what is with only able to use control c and control v to cut and paste? Have they never heard of right-click mouse cut/paste?

Also, why do I have to go all the way to the web site www.siastats.info to plug-in transaction id info to see the wallet address the siacoin came from? Why can't that show

also the wallet address along with transition Id?....I mean it is all very low-end amateur compared to even the most basic BTC wallets...

So the stuff like that drives me crazy ..they are not taking care of important minor details and no real push for folk to do storage nor instructions for the layperson...and ramp such up

even it is just to play with ..no FAQ I could see even to just experiment with the wallet options on storage on your puny 3gig HD as well just to learn such.

So if the project is siacoin/mining/storage as a 3 legged stool....storage part of all this is like 3 years behind the others IMHO..

anyway

they need to fix the stuff above and generally step it up Smiley

Brad

After all this time, you STILL don't understand how mining works and simple fact that hashing power does not affect
bumber of coins?

/facepalm

So the amount of coins are the same even if the amount of hash power for siacoins was 85% more before the ASIC miners by Bitmain etc were bricked? At this point in time?

enlighten me....and if I am incorrect that means at IF obelisks were out on time and there were NO 3rd party siacoin miners and the network was always private with siacoin

we'd still have 41,817,047,634 SC in circulation? really? If so I stand corrected? IF nothing else difficulty is still high as hell on all this from the miner point of view.

On the other hand, with only like what 5-6PH or thereabouts on machines never made by 3rd parties you have a network making 41,817,047,634 SC that amount of coin in the same amount

of time with the original Asics? That also seems a bit silly for a storage network that still basically can't be built or even used by anyone other than 'centralized' data halls etc at this point in

time.

So you still have all this 41,817,047,634 SC coin and the increase in difficulty to the point where MOST obelisk equipment after the fork can't mine Siacoin profitably (maybe a different issue

with pandemic and all...but out there) and a 'storage solution' that is still 3 years behind the (1) no longer making of ASIC's and Grin Miner mess-up (2) that is a hell of a lot of siacoin for a

project (3) wheere the 'decentralized storage solution and anonymous were supposed to be the primary function of this project?

So if my assumptions this time on your correction are correct on above...well...still the project seems 'stuck in a coder 'rut' of epic proportions.

Also NO real decent wallet (see the previous post) and also where are the PR and the PUSH for this great project. I do a google search for the last 30 days and am not impressed with the

results. More problems going on IMHO with this project and promotion then me being wrong on the above...

I also have made these points on the wallet and lack of storage HARDWARE and promotion of this project before ...so /facepalm on that as well back at ya Smiley

Lots of 'supposed' coding....very little progress or promotion on the above issues I bring up...the whole ecosystem of siacoin vs their vision seems to be very 'unbalanced' at best.

The siacoin project folk really need to step it up...fix the wallet for better ease of use....get some PR going...get the decentralized hardware reason also decentralized out there

rather than relying on (futile IMHO) on big data halls to incorporate this off the mark...maybe they are simple short of funds and devs/coders I don't know..but does not seem well

run ecosystem at all as a project
