2761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IMPORTANT UPDATE on: May 19, 2014, 12:41:29 AM

I'll have a look at the sourcecode tomorrow, and see how we can get the price-, blockhalfing- and nethash-graphs running again.

That would be nice. It's probably all tied into Rockchain.info, which has been down for weeks. Maybe one of the other explorers could provide the info you need.

I'll send the link updates to Icanprogram.

Thanks for moving this forward!
2762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IMPORTANT UPDATE on: May 18, 2014, 09:37:17 PM
Any luck on getting access to unobtainium.io?
Hi Learminer, here's what I found out.

Icanprogram offered to change the lnks for us on unobtanium.io   We just need to send him a clear list of links to change.

He also said JacobUx wants to keep the domain unobtanium.io

They have other projects on the unobtanium.io server, so they can't turn the server over over to us.

The unobtanium.io code is out on Github.
2763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / IMPORTANT UPDATE on: May 18, 2014, 01:15:51 PM
I received the latest wallets from Soopy, as he promised. He also gave me some sad news the other day and asked me to express it to the community. I'm sure he will add anything that I inadvertently leave out.

Regretfully, Soopy has decided to focus more closely on his other coin projects for now and so has asked me to begin looking for a Dev to replace him. He wants to make this a smooth transition for UNO, and said he will be available to backup UNO should anything happen in the meantime.

I appreciate his honesty about his priorities and I respect him for making the difficult choice he felt he needed to make.

Since yesterday, I have emails out to some other excellent coin Devs, seeking their input and advice, and have already received some encouraging replies. Being a top-50 coin with a great community, nearly $.5 million market cap, top exchanges and services, and a successful history, as you might expect there's a lot of interest in UNO.

So where does this leave the fork?  I strongly believe we should hold off for a bit. Since forks are a serious effort and hold some risk, and because of what is unknown at this moment, I think it would be wise to have our next Dev in place even before proceeding. UNO is running fine as it is, and I see no need to rush into something so important.

There will be more to share with you in the days ahead as this all comes together. It's going to be exciting, I'm sure.  So don't worry, remain calm. Gives us a few weeks to get things settled as we see what opportunities begin to unfold for UNO.

Please don't forget to say a big Community "Thanks" to Soopy for jump starting UNO and getting us so far, so quickly, for leaving us in better shape than he found us, and offering to stand by us through this transition. Let's show our appreciation for all his work in helping to restore confidence in UNO.

Soopy's Uno tip box is: uW9XivXdwE9VVtBKYubnTzFgfwZP2hJpFN

Thanks, Soopy for all you've done. I  wish you great success with your other projects.
2764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Coinex scam on: May 17, 2014, 07:14:53 PM
I bought about 40 of them, if that's what you mean... Unfortunately I bought them on Coinex, so I doubt I'll see them - withdrawal is 'queued'... :/

So sorry to hear that. I fell for it too, a few weeks ago.  Coinex is now a honeypot scam. It's a a real shame -- at one time it was a great place to trade and mine uno.

See if you can sell your uno on coinex, for btc, then buy DEM on Coinex. You can't withdraw the btc, but you may still be able to withdraw through your DEM wallet.  NVC might also work.  I was reading about this in the Coinex thread. They are also discussing how to get out of coinex in the Coinex chat box.

2765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 17, 2014, 12:35:54 AM
That was fun. Almost all my sell oders on Mintpal got hit, and all my low re-buy orders too. Its like I got 50 free UNO without doing anything. Nice.

Almost looks like one of those crazy "GOGOGO" pumps again, don't you think?

edit: 17BTC is way above average for UNO. But volume on Mintpal is getting mega crazy the past weeks. So many coins with 100+ BTC volume, sometimes more than one with 1000+. I read that Mintpal has been the highest volume exchange wordwide today, beating even all the established Bitcoin exchanges like Bitstamp etc.

Crazy considering they opened in February and only trade altcoins.

It was a pump from Cryptopumps.net.  Nice one -- they used about 15 btc.
I'm always glad to sell to those friendly pumpers at .008 and then buy it back seconds later for less than .004.  They can stop by MintPal and see me any time they want. Smiley

2766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / MintPal action on: May 16, 2014, 09:37:38 PM
Someone bought a load of UNO on MintPal, as high as .00847.

17 BTC of trades on MintPal today, which is good volume there.

2767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 16, 2014, 01:12:18 PM
We have now officially the coolest and most desireable crypto-brand out there  Cool

Definitely!  This time next year, we are all meeting in adult disneyland - VEGAS, BABY!  Wink

I love that vision! Smiley

We can get there.  Like I said yesterday, I'm buying. I love Uno below 005 (below 004 is a dream). I'm sad that others are selling so cheaply, but I'll buy their uno if they really don't want it.

Hang on to your uno! We're just getting started.

Look around and you'll see good things happening for uno. There's a solid place for the uno model in the crypto landscape, I believe that.
8 exchanges, tons of pools, lots of new services, new wallets and more to come. Even though uno hasn't yet arrived, I see it is headed in the right direction, thanks to you all.

Bitcoin wasn't built in a day.  In a world of abandoned coins too numerous to even remember or keep track of, UNO's longevity and community are huge assets, as yet not fully realized in Uno's price.   I really believe good things lie ahead for uno. We have a community filled with ideas and volunteers. There's a lot we can build on with uno.
2768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 15, 2014, 09:08:27 PM
It was a day last February, not too unlike today's trading action... UNO had been in a long slow decline, and I had been accumulating  it all the way down. This night, I was trading fairly aggresively and I bought most of my UNO between 0039 and 0042. Shortly after, I had second thoughts.   "OMG," I said. "What have I done? I'm into uno too deep."  I didn't sleep too well that night worrying about how I was going to get out from under my position. Eventually I decided to set it aside and not worry about it for six months, and finally I fell asleep.

When I woke up that morning, Wolong had sent UNO to .03. Eventually I got out between .04 and .035; I felt I was giving up a fortune because Wolong had promised to send it to .1 and beyond. But I decided not to be too greedy, and I was happy with what I got.  After that, I hung around the uno chat room, waiting for Wolong to leave so I could come back in, because there's something about uno that just makes me want to own it.

I took the the kids to Disneyworld 2 weeks later, on Wolong.  You never know what's going to happen with uno.

Yes, I was lucky, partly.  But I didn't just throw a dart at Coinmarketcap and hit UNO, either.   Getting in before others, taking the risk and holding on is how the big profits (and losses) are made. If my plan had been to chase the coin up, it wouldn't have been nearly as profitable. The next morning, I wouldn't have been able to buy in for less than .01. I'm glad I was holding.  No risk, no reward.

And yes, crypto is risky. Owning BTC or any crypto is a big risk. We don't trade uno because we think there is no risk, do we?

I'm all in with uno. I'll go up with UNO, or I grow old with it.  Either way, I'm having fun.

This time around I am in 2x as deep, and I have no worries. I am planning to add a ton to my uno holdings from now through next week.
I don't recommend that you do what I am doing... except for the part about having fun. I highly recommend that.

Thanks UNO!  Next time (if there is a next time), I'll send you a nicer postcard from Florence, Italy, taken with a better camera.
2769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 15, 2014, 01:02:28 AM
What version of OSX are you using?

it says in his error message that he's using Mac OS X 10.9.2

thats the same error me and another guy here got when we tried the newest UNO wallet

Glad I'm not the only one! Wink
Clearly we need to fix this, because UNO loves Macs. I'm adding you guys to the "Mac Testers" list.
2770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 14, 2014, 09:03:06 PM
Hi everyone...

I'm new to the world of mining currencies, and kinda like the pool I'm using to mine Unobtanium... I'm getting decent hash rates, and initial impression is quite good... However...

I tried downloading the OSX installer from the unobtanium website and as soon as I tried to run it, it crashed... Has anyone else had this, and is there a workaround?

Thanks in advance!
Welcome to crypto, and to Unobtanium!

There is a newer Mac wallet. Download it from the opening paragraph (OP) of this discussion. Let us know how it works for you.
2771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Fork Update on: May 13, 2014, 03:36:56 PM
I wanted to give you guys an update on the Fork.  With your permission, I would like to delay it for a while.

UNO is running well, and this is a precautionary enhancement (i/e uno is not in a crisis). Still, forking is a huge effort, a big deal, and it has to go 110% correct, and can't be taken lightly.  I'd like to have more time to prepare, test and make sure that everything is going to work.

I'm not placing any blame for the delay, except on myself for pushing things along a little too fast.  In my own business, we often have to delay software releases to get things right. We'll catch hell for being late, but its still much better to be late than to fail.  I understand; this is your (our) money at stake.

Soopy has done a lot of work, but as you know he supports several coins. He's a shared dev. Another coin he is supporting at this moment undergoing a massive algo shift with huge changes; it needs a lot of close attention, and he is consumed with that right now.  Rather than press him hard to deliver a new UNO wallet for you today, I would rather wait, have his full attention, make sure that testing is not rushed, get you guys involved in testing, and then when we're satisfied we'll aggressively roll it out together. Like you, I don't want to roll out anything that isn't 110% ready.

I hope you're OK with this delay (how long? At this moment I'm not 100% sure... best guess 2 weeks?).

I'm sorry for jumping the gun last week. It seemed a wallet was imminent and I started to ramp you all up a bit early. The work we've already done will put us that much farther ahead when we're ready to roll.

FK.
2772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Unobtanium.uno now forwarding to unobtanium.io on: May 13, 2014, 01:50:24 AM
Hi everyone!

I wanted to present an idea for everyone's consideration. We have recently been talking about building a new website at Unobtanium.uno. What do you guys think about making the new website more interactive? Perhaps the site could feature blogs by FallingKnife and other community leaders. How about moving this thread from Bitcointalk to a dedicated forum on our own new website?

I am most familiar with Drupal, but all of the major content management systems have all of this functionality built in: Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla etc. This would help to give UNO investors and people who want to learn more about UNO a central place to learn about UNO, find places to spend UNO, make friends, and interact with the UNO community.  Smiley

I've started forwarding Unobtanium.uno to Unobtanium.io so we can at least start to refer to the new domain as the community domain. Eventually we'll get someone to build a great site on unobtanium.uno, but its just easy to forward it for the moment.

2774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RON] SwansonCoin** Hardfork: 80000! **CryptoALTeX Giveaway Soon ** on: May 11, 2014, 08:17:35 PM
The only place I had to change my Ron, now can not handle deposits, please fix what the block explorer and protocol.

QuarkBar is offline due to possible double spend attacks. AsiaCoin is online please download the new wallet before depositing. ROH, MGC, and CATEDOGE offline until we hear from developers about no network connections and blocks not moving.

thanks

As a test I sent and received coins from CryptoAlteX today. Everything seems good with them. Transactions confirmed quickly.

I'm disappointed that the swansoncoin.com site and it's nodes are down, though.
The network could use more nodes running latest wallet. Please leave your Swansoncoin wallet connected if you can.

Also missing the block explorer.
2775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / New Wallet on: May 10, 2014, 08:48:50 PM
Just wanted to let you know that the new wallet will be ready soon. It's taking a little longer than expected. No worries, though. It's must be 100% ready and if that means a little extra time in development, then so be it. Soopy will decide when it's ready to go, and will take whatever time is necessary to ensure success. Will update you again soon.

We'll need everyone to move quickly when its available.  This coming update is primarily to prevent timewarp attacks on uno, helping to prevent such attacks that rob miners of fair compensation. We care deeply about UNO miners and appreciate the service they provide to our network in clearing transactions, so we really want them to feel confident supporting uno. It also will provide a more secure platform on which to build future services for UNO, and give investors even more confidence.

Think about whether there are additional computers that you can install the new wallet on. There will undoubtedly be some laggard wallets that just will not update in time.... so it would help if you would be able to run the new wallet on as many computers as you're able to.  I have 5 machines here, plus 2 Windows servers that I will be installing it on. We need to tip the network solidly in favor of the forked wallet. That means getting as many exchanges, services, pools and users on the new wallet as soon as possible. We will making a lot of noise and a big push to do this.  But if you can also put it on a few additional machines until the fork occurs (and then for as long after the fork as possible) it would help ensure UNO's success.

So please get ready, stick with us, help us spread the news, update quickly, and run the wallet on as many machines as you're able. If you mine, please send a message to your pool.  If you invest, it wouldn't hurt if your favorite exchange got a message from you reminding them to update (even though we will also be sending each one a direct message).

More coming soon.  Get ready! Feel the excitement!  Smiley

Cheers,
FK
2776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info on: May 10, 2014, 12:37:10 PM
I have created a provably fair dice game:

http://cryptap.us/uno/dice

Note that the bets are quite limited at the moment due to my limited reserves. If you feel like donating to raise the limits you can find my UNO address at the bottom of the page.

If it eats you coins, PM me and if we can verify in the block chain I will refund.

Feedback is welcome.

I've added a coinbomb game to the above link. Please let me know of any issues.

A new transparent Ponzi game has been added.

Edit: I have changed the timer length for the coinbomb games.

Thanks, Cryptapus. I enjoy those games.

Also, thanks much for the UNO paper wallet generator, and the UNO block explorer at http://cryptap.us/uno/
We all appreciate your support.
2777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 09, 2014, 05:52:11 PM
Hi everyone!

I think that I have some pretty big news here. Forgive me if I am posting something that you already know, or have already figured out.

I think that I've figured out why the original Unobtanium thread got locked. Out of caution, I won't name any names.

A global moderator locked the original forum thread, but we never knew why. Today, I did some research. I found a comment that the moderator made regarding a major problem on the forums in general: paid signature links. The signature links in and of themselves do not seem to be the main problem. The main problem appears to be that people post meaningless or non sequitur posts just to get their signatures seen. Obviously, someone is paying them to make the posts as a form of spam advertising.

Armed with this information, I went back and analyzed the original UNO thread. It is literally infested with spam links. I am now almost 100% certain that this is why the thread got locked. I suspect that the global moderator probably tried to contact some of the UNO developers to get them to fix the problem, and got no reply. With thousands of forums on BTCtalk, the global moderator has no desire (or time) to micromanage each forum, so it was far easier just to lock it. I suspect that there is little chance of getting it unlocked since all contact has been lost with the developers.

Interesting research. I only had a cursory glance over the thread but didn't notice much out of the usual. Any pages you can point me to?

On another note, the full source code for the Unobtanium.io website is here: https://github.com/icanprogram/unobtanium.io Could we rebuild a new version of the website that we control? What do you guys think about creating new Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, and Google+ feeds?

I'd love to hear any opinions...
As can be seen on github icanprogram is still active on other projects. IIRC FallingKnife said he's one of the few people previously involved in UNO that were somewhat responsive recently. Maybe he'd be willing to give us FTP access to the site. Who's currently hosting the site anyway? Would suck for it to suddenly go down because a prepaid hosting period ran out or something...

I'm a web dev so I could take a look at the code and do some updates. I think it'd be fine to keep the site mostly intact as it looks pretty slick. As time progresses we can see if any major updates/rewrites need to take place. What do you say?

PM's sent to Blazr2 about Unobtanium.info, and to Icanprogram about Unobtanium.io

Ok.... get this....

As a backup I was checking for other "unobtanium.whatever" domains that we may be able to use in case we're unable to get either of the above domains.

Guess what I found?

Unobtainium.uno

I registered it, as a backup.  How cool is Unobtanium.uno  ??
I would rather stick with unobtanium.io because it has lots of backlinks and is widely seen as the official UNO website.  But I about fell over when I saw Unobtanium.uno
2778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 09, 2014, 05:48:16 PM
bee7, Philogus, Palawan, thanks for offering to test the new client on Linux.  I'll pm you a link when it's ready. I hope it will be within 12 hours.

I don't now that Soopy will be able to compile for each Linux distro. If you can help with that, and help distribute it for your favorite Linux distro, that would be a huge help.

Hopefully someone with Mac expertise will read this and raise a hand soon.
2779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Mac & Linux testers for UNO client. on: May 09, 2014, 12:37:43 PM
I'd like to locate UNO community members who use Linux and Mac, who would be willing to do some rapid testing of the upcoming hardfork UNO client when it's ready

If you are Mac/Linux and willing to help, please identify yourself.

Basic protocol would be involve a fresh install, connecting to nodes, downloading blockchain, sending and receiving some coins. Highlevel stuff.
2780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 09, 2014, 12:33:45 PM
Is there anyone here who is web designer who could maintain the unobtanium.io site, or rebuild it on a different domain if necessary?
I can provide free hosting on one of my company's servers, if its needed.
*raises hand*
Thanks for volunteering. I'll let everyone know what I hear from icanprogram and we can take it to the next step.
