1981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: January 02, 2015, 08:29:23 PM
Just to be very clear (because the term "merge" can be misleading)...
The coins are not merged into some super coin (i/e it's not a blockchain take over). The blockchains remain completely separate.
If ZET implemented AuxPOW against Uno,  and a pool set it up,  what would happen is that miners at that pool could earn ZET or UNO, as their hashes have the opportuniy to solve blocks for either coin, or both simultaneously, depending on whether the difficulty of the hash meets or exceeds that coins' difficulty.

If other coins also implemented AuxPow against Uno, then the miners could earn UNO, ZET, abc, def, and ghi coin( for their mining, as their hashes might solve blocks for other coins. It makes mining more profitable. The question becomes which coin will be the "parent" and which will be the "child."  It does require a fork for the coin(s) implementing AuxPow, so clearly it's more convenient and less work to be the parent.

The thing that usually will kill the idea is the bad connotation a community peceives in being labled the "child" coin. As we saw with Doge when they merge mined with LTC, it will be seen by some as a kind of defeat, even when history shows that it is usually a prudent long term move.

Re BIG:  I applaud the thinking. And Yes they have a very cool ticker. But I think it would prove to be a mistake for us to take on their problems Their block chain is stuck at high difficulty right now because they don't have anything like KGW (they only change difficulty every 30 blocks); there's a bad taste in everyone's mouth because of the way the dev abandoned them; they are not backed any more by bullion (if they ever really were); they're not on any exchanges that I am aware of; they have a huge premine relative to coins issued; is there any community left? I know their miners have all gone; it would take a lot of work by our devs to fix it (I know our guys won't do it, and I'd hate to even ask them).

Maybe instead of trying to build a mining ecosystem around Uno, we just implement AuxPow with BTC and be done with it. Uno's blockchain would remain separate, the specs wouldn't change; pools mining Btc can choose to mine Uno; existing pools don't have to setup merge mining (they could if they wanted); Individual miners could still mine Uno directly. This should probably be part of the discussion as well. The downside (as discussed above) is that everyone (pools, exchanges, you) would have to install a new client.  And there's maybe some risk that Uno wouldn't get the "mind share" among larger pools that a large cap coin like NMC would get.

Here's how the hashrate for DVC (Devcoin, not Distributed Vault Coin) looks vs BTC (DVC is merged mine against Bitcoin).
https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/hashrate-btc-dvc.html  Even if Uno got 1/100th of the hash of DVC, it would be orders of magnitude above Uno's current hash rate.

Here you can see the effect of DOGE's hash rate when they chose to merge mine against LTC last September.
https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/hashrate-ltc-doge.html

Whichever way we go (or even if we do nothing), a decent market cap for Uno remains an important part of the plan.
1982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / AuxPow & Bounty on: January 02, 2015, 01:32:59 PM
A coin that merge mines with Uno will benefit from our higher hash, but they also get to tap us. Because merge mining also makes mining Uno more profitable and attracts more hash, you can believe that I would get behind it and work to educate our pools & miners to implement it.

At this point I would welcome any coin to implement AuxPow with Uno in order to provide a template for other coins, miners & pools to follow.  Later, we'll need to be more selective about the coins we are able to engage with as a community.

The healthier the merged coin is, and the stronger the market for their coin, the better and more worthwhile it would be for our community to lend it's support in promotion and maybe even a bit of market support.  But the first mover in this area (no matter how healthy) will get a lot of attention from us because they're blazing the trail. We would like other coins to follow their lead, and to that end I would be very engaged in bringing the advantages of our community to the opportunity.

Over the months I have floated the idea to different coin devs and received a variety of response, but no takers.  AUM dev was in touch about it at one time. I had earlier reached out to devs of other 3-minute sha coins, ORO expessed some interest. I had reached out to XJO, and several others.  There has been interest, and I think everyone understands the benefits of doing it, but no takers yet.

I'll offer a small incentive, because I would like to see this hapen.
I will give a bounty to the first coin and pool who would implement AuxPow with Uno;  50 Uno to tip the first coin dev, and 50 Uno for the first pool who implement merged mining with Uno, provided they leave a template for other devs/pools to follow.  Maybe some of you will sweeten the pot even more.

I think UNO will now be safe on Bittrex, but lets not let our guard down.  I would like to see more "safety" trades to be certain we nail it hard. If you can help make the market here, close the gap, add a few Un to the buy & sell side, that's really what its going to take.

It would also help get more people with Uno wallets on Bittrex. If you trade there, be sure to create a Uno wallet. And while you're at it, go buy a few. Smiley
1984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Bittrex on: December 31, 2014, 01:16:41 PM
Thank you to whoever bought up Bittrex to .0066! That put some nice volume on the books.

I value all of our exchanges for Uno, but just based on sheer overall volume, we have needed to take action to retain Bittrex for Uno. There is a lot of money on Bittrex and Uno should be instantly accessible to it. That's not to say the other markets are less important -- lets be vigilent and try to use all of our exchanges. At least with Bittrex, we understand where the "line in the sand" is, at .2 btc/day minimum.  I think if we see less than .5 btc traded there daily, we should pay attention and do what we can to get things moving out there.

Closing the spread helps bring in traders. The market needs both buyers & sellers.  Everyone can't be a hodler, or there will be no coins to trade. Smiley Please consider putting aside a small portion of your stash for trading, to help keep the market liquid for new buyers. Likewise, always be ready to snatch up some bargain on Bittrex, even in small amounts. Even small trades keep the market alive and show Bittrex that there is community interest.

Again, special thanks to the big buyer today, and to everyone else who has stepped up to help retain this market for Uno. Please keep it up! Smiley

Does this signal the end of Super-Cheap Uno prices?

Uno moved back up to 41st place on CMC

There's still upside to get back to Uno's "normal" $500k cap.

We also want to show community interest. Many people trading a little should mean more than 1 person trading a lot.

"Have You Traded UNO on Bittrex Today?"

I will not let Uno go quietly into that good night.
1987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Cloud Mining on: December 30, 2014, 09:13:21 PM
Uno was recently supported by cloud mining operation Genesis-Mining.
I've been mining with them about a month, and have had good results.
There seems to be a lot of Cloud Mining scams right now, and because Genesis is important to the Uno hash rate,  I thought I would offer a couple of links up to the community.

The first is a presentation given earlier this month by Genesis-Mining CEO Marco Streng. If you're still not sure what mining is, or how it works, Marco does a good job taking you through the basics.

http://bravenewcoin.com/news/marco-streng-at-bitcoin-south-bitcoin-mining-and-the-future/

The second link is all about vetting Cloud Miners.  This "Cloud Mining 101" thread ranks Genesis-Mining relatively favorably compared to others that are purported to be scams.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=878387.0

The scary thing with cloud mining at Genesis or any other cloud miner is that your hash investment could quite literally disappear at the flip of an off switch in some far off land.

I'm going to up my hash at Genesis and keep in on Uno, which isn't an enirely rational decision (but you should know by now I'm not totally rational).. If you are also thinking about getting into cloud mining, first consider whether it might be better to just spend that money to buy Uno, rather than wait a year or more to see it paid back.    If you still want to take the plunge, then check out Genesis for 2 reasons: a) because they support Uno and your hash can go to help secure our network, and b) Genesis scores high as a legit operator.

Uno is also very well served by some reliable pool operators. If you really want control and have a desire to learn, you can now buy a 2nd-hand 1THS miner on eBay for around us$500, and prices are still coming down. If you know what you're doing, and you don't mind the heat and noise, high electricity bils and fussing with software drivers, then mining Uno at home might be for you.  Uno can use whatever hash you're willing to throw at it, whether through a pool, from the cloud or soloing at home.

1988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / UNO to be in Cryptocurrency Weekly on: December 30, 2014, 08:15:57 PM
ProminerOne and I have been in touch with a reporter who has been writing an article about UNO and it's low inflationary attributes.
It shouldbe featured in a forthcoming issue of Jyaps's  CryptoCurrencyWeekly newsletter.

If you would like to read the article as soon as it comes out (and not wait for the latent publishing of the newsletter to the web) signup to receive it by email at http://cryptocurrencyweekly.com/

If the article is published (and it seems like it will be) it will bring UNO to the attention of more than 500 crypto enthusiasts/traders/investors!
From what I have previewed of the article, it will serve as an excellent introduction (or re-introduction) of UNO and it's community to these investors.

Congratulations, UNO community on the effective outreach effort.  BraveNewCoin has sided with you and has added support for UNO to their index.

Those of you on Twitter, please RT.
They also posted a comment on Uno's reddit; if you could add a message of support there, it would be appreciated. https:/reddit.com/r/unobtanium

All markets are thinly traded at this time of year - I don't know if that factors into the bittrex calculation for UNO trading??  I expect things to pick up over the next week or two as the month of December and the year 2014 are ending.  UNO market at bittrex and elsewhere should pick up as we roll into January 2015.

Hi Rojan, I completely agree. Its a slow time of year.  If we all step up and do a little, we'll keep our Bittrex market and help it ride out this little down turn.

To keep a market, Bittrex needs at least .2 btc each day, averaged over a week, or about 1.5 btc per week. I think we should set our minimum at 2 btc/week.

Bittrex also wants to see that people are interested in the market. It would really help if everyone reading this could at least keep a few Uno on the books at Bittrex.  Put up a few buy or sell orders, make a few trades. It doesn't take much and we're over the minimum.

But lets all get on it today, please. We don't want to lose Bittrex just because of a temporary volume dip on that exchange.

1992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: December 29, 2014, 01:19:07 AM
I'll throw some BTC over there at Bittrex too
Perfect! Thank you.
1993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: December 29, 2014, 12:46:15 AM
@ FK: I am paying attention. Won't have a penny to trade on Bittrex for a couple of weeks.

m
Thanks, IMZ, for taking action.

I'm not going to let this market go without a fight, so brace yourself for as many annoying messages like this as will be necessary. This is Bittrex! If you remember, it was a big effort for the community to get in there; it took months. We don't want Uno to lose it over a paltry .2 btc/day.

Look, I could buy/sell to myself all day long there to pad volume, but that won't help us.  They can see how many active traders there are in the market, so we can't just make things right at the last minute. Please, the rest of you, add some buy or sell orders there. Even very small orders on the books from many different people will help show broad community interest in their Uno market.  I see my own buy orders on the books there, and I'm telling you we really need more traders there. Place your orders where ever you want (way high, or way low, I don't care) but just get them out there.

I think a lot of coins left Bittrex after the September/October activity. Once we get this rolling, it will be self sustaining again. Let's get some orders on the books there, and we'll be fine.

Imz stepped up. Uno also needs you on Bittrex. Come on over.

1994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Bittrex on: December 28, 2014, 11:35:07 PM
Traders needed on Bittrex.  Let's pick up this market for Uno. Please pitch in and lets get this market trading at least .25 btc/day. That's only about $85/day.  Together we can sustain that.

Oh, and I just discovered a really nice new Uno block explorer and rich list over at Ethought's  http://blocktree.io  Check it out.

anyone have some updated nodes for the wallet, having troubles starting mine

Did you try the nodes listed in the OP? I updated them a couple of weeks ago.

I just have restarted with the wallet 0.9.5 and it works perfect.
All my coins are coming in.
WOrks perfect. I'm glad.
Hi, rikkie!  It's good to read your comments. Welcome to the Uno forum.
1997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / FK comes clean on: December 27, 2014, 05:33:52 PM
@Bitcoinnational, thanks for that chart! I look forward to seeing how close your estimated dates are!

@IMZ, a Un conference! Love the idea!

@goemon888 thanks for sounding the alarm on Bittrex

Regarding @Bittrex, I pickedup new btc this month at 318. I was the guy who caught that 1200 Un dump a week ago or so.  Although I didn't expect most of my btc wad to go in a single trade, I was glad it happened on Bittrex. I noticed the Bittrex market was under performing and wanted to try and help get it kick started. That trade rolled off the books now (their "warning bot" only looks at the past week), and honestly the market there is not nearly what it could be.  As a community, we should trade at least .25 btc on Bittrex each day, minimum. That should be easy.  We need to keep Bittrex. It was a hard earned market, it's good for Uno's status and so I'm going to just flat out ask you -- please trade some Uno there. If you see that market having a bad day and you're able to help out, please step up.

Regarding @coaex,  let me come clean. I accumulate metals (have for many years), and this order with Coaex for gold was mine. I didn't expect it to cause a rukus. It was a very small percent of my Uno that I spent with Coaex; but I want to support Uno merchants (I have here Uno-branded silver, a titanium engraved Uno wallet, Uno t-shirt, Uno cryptochips & hopefully soon Uno Bitstickers -- love all things Uno). And anyway, I already replaced my Uno on Cryptsy last Friday when I bought the market back up to 0063. Sadly, nobody stepped in to help fill the gap and I don't have a tremendous amount of firepower left at this moment. I didn't consider Coaex's pov, and didn't anticpate the Un short-term price dropping like it did. If he wants to cancel the order, or charge me a premium, I'm cool with that. It's it a drop in the bucket, anyway. Coaex, I appreciate everything you do for Uno, and I want this community to support you and also want the trades to be fair and profitable for you.

As a long term community with many long term & trusted members, I think we can understand that the overall health of the UnoVerse (ecosystem) is directly tied to our own interests in Uno. Miners, merchants, investors & traders all need their day.

Uno is cheap, so it's a good moment for investors to accumulate. Thank you hodlers (like Jelks & Edgar & others) who are there to pick Uno up during the bad times; thanks for your long term commitment.
Uno's price spread is wide, so it's a good moment for traders to step in and work (to close) the gap. Thanks traders, for providing liquidity. We need more trading right now.
Uno's miners are doing their part, still providing nearly 30 ths of hash which tells me they expect the price to rise soon. Thanks miners for believing in Uno's future and securing our network.
Uno's merchants are watching to make sure this is a coin that supports them both with sales & a stable market. Thanks, merchants for seeking to work with our community.
Uno's exchanges are asking for help -- it costs them money to provide a market, and they need people to trade about .25 btc per day to help them break even. We can do that

The altworld is watching to see if a community like ours can keep it together, ride out the tough times and lay a course for the future. I know we will.
A thousand other altcoins have failed to get as far as Uno.

Everyone has a role to play here.  What's yours?

1998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: December 26, 2014, 11:15:26 PM
8.7 btc of Uno traded past 24 hours.

Pls give Bittrex market extra attention. They are displaying the delisting warning for Uno. Trading there has be very, very light the past week. We need use them, or we'll lose them.
1999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: December 26, 2014, 07:03:58 PM
Here's a quote from Blazr2 that describes the block halving.

The only tiny thing I would tweak here (just for the record) is that we've seen that the halvings occur on the full 100,000th.

Here's block 500,000 https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/block.dws?0000000000000e8c9abf99b54350a546e6350443fb418db11205688fa09ab594.htm
You can see that the reward halving has occurred with this block,  and that the last block with the higher reward was 499,999

Sure. When we first launched Un, it was set up to make 6 halvings before hitting minimal reward, however as of version 0.9.1 that was revised to produce a meaningful number of coins until the 15th halving and then a minimal reward of .0001 that would persist for ever (or 51millionish blocks, whichever comes first). The breakdown is as so:

You can see Un will be mineable for a long time to come.
2000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: December 26, 2014, 04:33:04 PM
I'm frustrated, Edgar, 'cause I am 'all in' at present, so I can't buy an cheap Uno. When is the next halving?

m
The next halving will occur around May 7, 2015.

102k blocks 212.5 day cycles

Then 0.0001 forevermore?
This chart is incorrect because the halvings occur on the 100 thousandth blocks. The next will be at block 600,000.

There are 250k maximum Uno, so it will stop producing a reward in about 300 years.  Blazr will be very, very old man, but he'll need to decide at that time if he should fork it to continue rewards. Smiley  But by the year 2314, we'll be mining petahashes on our ocular implant chips that are powered by excess fat cells, so keeping the network running at no reward shouldn't be a problem.
