281  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: brazil sanctioned law that taxes online betting in the country on: March 22, 2024, 11:30:30 AM
The funny thing is that he didn't take into account the loss that bettors have before calculating the tax (that's a lot of bullshit).

What a load of bullshit, that's what happens when politicians get so obsessed with getting money out of people that they end up thinking with their asses instead of their brains when drafting a law. I hope there is a law regarding poker that considers what happens at the tables as chips and not real money, if not I can already see that no poker player will be able to be a winner in Brazil, so the professionals will have to emigrate. For the rest of the casino games, even if they are EV games, the fact that they tax you when you win and do not allow you to deduct your losses means a much worse return than before.

I predict that there will be a significant drop in the revenue of casinos in the country. Let's see if they come to their senses and modify the law in the future.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA vs Smart DCA, what do you choose? on: March 22, 2024, 11:23:33 AM
Although I do kind of smart DCA at some point, I think for most people it is better to do simple DCA and not eat the head. The smart DCA, as mk4 says is again trying to time the market, which we already know is very difficult. Besides, I remember having seen some studies on the stock market showing that in reality between doing simple DCA or waiting for the downturns to buy there was hardly any difference in terms of profitability in the long term (if the one who buys in the downturns is right, which is a lot to assume).

I, as I say, sometimes I have taken advantage to reload in a market downturn because at that time I had more money available or I have sold at highs to enjoy profits but these are different reasons than trying to make a "smart" DCA.

283  Other / Meta / Re: Should speculation about satoshi's identity be subject to doxxing rules? on: March 22, 2024, 11:14:56 AM
I've been asking since 2015 for people to respect satoshi's privacy, so it's not exactly a sudden or unexpected change in my position:

Fair enough.

But I think you are fighting against the tide. First because as you can see in this very thread, not all of us share your opinion; second because there is internet beyond this forum, i.e. there is nothing stopping someone who discovered something relevant about Satoshi's identity from posting it elsewhere, and third because to persist in that even when intelligence agencies have tried to find out who he was and got nothing makes it extremely unlikely that anything relevant is going to be discovered now.

There's nothing in this for me.  It's just a question of ethics.  Right and wrong.

According to your ethical principles. Ethical principles, if you do not believe that they are established by a supra-human entity (I don't), can only be established in agreement with other human beings, and there is not always agreement.
284  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve Meeting Today! March 20, 2024 on: March 21, 2024, 04:39:05 AM
Well we didn’t get a rate cut but they are saying that we will get 3 rate cuts this year which is much less what was said in the previous FOmC.

We did however have higher than expected inflation numbers so we are not surprised that we won’t get more than 3.

Most likely first cut will be in June, then Sept and then December. And they are expecting less cuts in 2025 as previously mentioned.

The market took it well, the S&P ended the session with a positive 0.9%, which is nothing and is within normal volatility, but the spike occurred when the rates were announced. Bitcoin also did well, going from $62.6K to $67.7K in a few hours after the announcement.
285  Economy / Gambling / Re: MetaWin.com | The First WEB3 Casino on: March 21, 2024, 04:31:23 AM
You guessed it right. My bankroll was too small so I decided to just do base bets. So for the first game, it's $0.20 and the second game is even lower lol-- $0.10  Grin

I'm actually more of a poker player and I don't play much casino games but I do from time to time. In the case of slots I prefer low stakes because if you catch a streak that you do not get anything the money flies in a moment, so I prefer to play 0.20$ slots to last me a little money.

That's a really big win considering the bet amount. Do you still remember the game? I'd try it next time and see how my luck goes lol.

Well, I don't remember because every time I play slots I usually change games so I can't help you, what I do remember is that I got some free spins first and with them I won the approximately $100.
286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake it all put of over confidence in your club on: March 21, 2024, 04:24:03 AM
Even though your friend got away with a big win through Man United's comeback, it's always a bad idea to put too much trust in a team based on your feelings because comebacks mostly depend on luck and more factors could be involved behind their win.

You don't simply go all in on the team you follow, if you do go that route you'll later learn the reality and fade your favorite team when it matters.

As we would say in poker, he made a bad move that worked out well. Gambling everything on his team for emotional reasons when the odds were against him by 7 to 1 is clearly a bad play. Also, from what the OP describes I imagine that that 5k he bet was money he needed, probably all he had in savings, not extra money you can afford to lose, which is how it should be done.

I tell you how those kinds of stories end up, with the OP's friend repeating the play and losing it all. And the next time probably borrowing to lose it all. Badly, they usually end very badly.
287  Other / Meta / Re: Should speculation about satoshi's identity be subject to doxxing rules? on: March 21, 2024, 04:16:54 AM
I'm sorry to be blunt, but if you're still publicly speculating about who satoshi is you're being inconsiderate jackasses here.  It's that simple.

And how is it that you got that great idea just now to the point of insulting those who don't think like you, after being on the forum for 10 and a half years? Come on, enlighten us.

The owner clearly does not think like you, otherwise he would have taken steps to do so a long time ago. Nor does anyone else who has discussed Satoshi's possible identity in the many threads about it.

You expect to go down in history as the protector of Satoshi's privacy or something? 14 years after he has disappeared and none of the speculation about him has turned up anything that could identify him?

I think humanity needs more people with cool ideas like yours, otherwise I don't think we'll survive another year.
288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Buying and Selling of Casino Accounts (Discussion thread) on: March 20, 2024, 05:53:35 AM
I wouldn't dream of buying or selling a casino account. Regarding selling it has already been said, apart from breaking the rules, it is normal that you have passed KYC and selling your privacy for a few bucks is not very smart, and regarding buying it, similar, because you are breaking the rules also for some supposed benefits such as having a vip account but it costs you money and if you get caught you will be left with nothing. Not to mention if the person who sells it to you could be under judicial investigation, for example, and you will end up receiving a visit from the police at your house to ask for explanations.

Even if you don't know about casinos, I think common sense will make you think that it is not a good idea.
289  Economy / Gambling / Re: xyro.io on: March 20, 2024, 05:40:22 AM
It would be looking at all the casinos' ann threads and then researching more on the forum to find out how to create a much better ann thread read and thus giving people a good image, but op didn't do any of that, he didn't bother to research this forum , he didn't mind listing the casino on many review sites so that when people searched about this casino they would get more information, and also if the op had added this casino on the review sites, then he would have a chance to get customers quickly, he didn't do that. search on google about this casino:

" xyro.io review " https://www.google.com

nothing is found. This shows that the creators of this casino don't know much about this market and marketing for this market, which makes me wonder if it is really safe for anyone to use this casino. the casino has no TOS and no FAQ and has a design similar to token projects or altcoin projects. but it's strange that there is a con on Twitter with 30 thousand followers, an account created in 2023

https://twitter.com/xyro_io

It seems to me more like an altcoin project that is not yet in practice, there is only theory

It looks like a total botched job, as botched as the OP. Someone who doesn't do research and who makes that crappy OP to try to get traffic to his site from this forum is not very inviting to me. Same for outside the forum, they haven't done anything. But the actual launch of the site will be in Q3, so between now and then they have time to correct the mistakes and be able to attract people.
290  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: March 20, 2024, 05:30:53 AM
I see a lot of people endlessly repeating that prices have gone up, for example:

10 years ago, one could live comfortably, everything was actually value low and things were very affordable for the common man but currently, I don't think so due to inflation.

Inflation has the upper hand. The amount it’ll cost you to purchase something about 10 years ago isn’t the same as what it will cost today.

And we don't talk about the salary increases during these 10 years? The 2010-20 period was low inflation, and from COVID in 2020 it was exacerbated, but what usually happens with inflation is that not only do prices go up, salaries also go up. What happens is that they tend to rise after prices and not in all cases compensate for the rise in the cost of living, so today everything is more expensive, but let's not just talk about inflation as if it were the only thing that happens.

Now to keep spending most people are pulling savings, or worse, going into debt, which is one of the worst things you can do for your finances going into debt to pay for consumption, like going on vacation. A few have jobs that have raised their salaries above inflation or have found ways to beat it with other income sources.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Day i have lost my 100 bitcoins on: March 20, 2024, 05:22:11 AM
you are one of the richest people in the world, have assets of 100 bitcoins, do you keep very valuable things in a drawer, it is very strange in what year you started discovering bitcoin, so only now do you realize that your keys have been lost, are you kidding or is it just your hallucination?

If you read you would have figured out what you are asking:

of course it's possible, when bitcoin appeared, it wasn't worth anything and so I disregarded it, I remembered it not so long ago when I moved and found some old stuff. sad reality.

I wish I hadn't remembered, today it haunts me.

When he left those Bitcoin in the drawer they were probably worth pennies. Let's say they were worth $0.15. 100 Bitcoins at that time equaled $15. Not bad for a beer but definitely something valuable as today they are worth $6.14M.
292  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: March 19, 2024, 04:10:46 AM
You might won't believe but I bought 5000$ worth of FUN tokens and I held them for some months, thank god I sold them before it was too late and got some profit. I bought these coins because they were valued very high in 2017-2018 and I thought since Freebitco acquired them, FUN token would increase in price and go to the moon. I think that this project failed, I was hoping that this coin would rise in this bull run but it's not going as I expected.

Yes, I believe it, because I fell for it too. When the site adopted the token I also bought, but less than you. The fact is that I did not see it clearly because the behavior was starting to be poorer than expected and I also got out with a little profit like you.

If you bought this coin when the price was 0.035 on average, you won't profit, premium membership only gives you 25% APY and it would take years to get 100% of your investment back. The price is also going down, which is making it almost impossible to profit. Your profit with the FUN token depends on the time you bought it and the price during that time.

Exactly. It reminds me of people who buy stocks because they pay a high dividend, which can be an indicator that the company is doing poorly and are so happy to be paid 6% per year for example while the stock loses value at 10% per year.
293  Economy / Gambling / Re: MetaWin.com | The First WEB3 Casino on: March 19, 2024, 04:00:37 AM
Anyhoo, I had a good sesh today. The results were nice considering my small bankroll-- around 20 bucks lol, and it was fun!

Congratulations, what level of betting were you playing? I'm guessing $0.20 per roll, which would be a good result, 100 times the bet. With those bets the most I've managed to get by playing slots is around $100, which is pretty good, as it's a 500x.

294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it? on: March 19, 2024, 03:52:09 AM
... and I don't think that the percentage of losers is greater than the winners .

Keep thinking, then.

Is this true gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it?

If we talk about short term, you can win as well as lose, although you have the odds against you. In the long term, the longer the term, the more certain the loss.

Gamblers are screwed over by the house(casino) and by the government where I live(USA). You can sit there and feed a slot machine $5000 and lose it all, then feed it $500 more for a total of $5500 in the slot. On the last spin you finally hit a bonus and win $1200 on that bonus. They make you pay taxes on that $1200 win even though you're still a loser on the night. Ridiculous!!!

Yes, that's bullshit. Is it the same with poker? I doubt it because no one would make a net profit.
295  Economy / Gambling / Re: Building a unique Plinko game from scratch. What features do you want? on: March 19, 2024, 03:45:45 AM
I understand that KYC is important, but believe me, many have already got upset by seeing this that you will make KYC mandatory. Now in this case they will go to popular casinos where Plinko is already there, rather than giving personal details to a new casino.

What do you say? There are almost no casinos left without KYC. To me now comes to mind one that offers Plinko but if you win and order a withdrawal of your money you will be processed and you may spend a month waiting, so I personally would not deposit a satoshi in that one. I don't think that KYC nowadays is a determining factor for people to decide not to bet in that casino, really.
296  Economy / Economics / Re: Murphy backing gold standard bill on: March 18, 2024, 03:55:15 AM
Well, I am not surprised that this is coming from a Republican, because although there are Republicans who like public spending more than what would correspond to their ideology, that of wanting to curb the deficit with this and make it legal to tender something that they cannot control or print at will is totally against socialist ideologies.

It reminds me a bit of the idea of Peter Schiff, who after expressing for so many years his hatred of Bitcoin, now defends a shitcoin backed by gold.

But hey, in this case I don't see the project as a threat to Bitcoin. First, because it is not going to be implemented in a generalized way, and even less in the short term. There are too many people who are not interested. And besides, I think it is perfectly compatible with Bitcoin.
297  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: EU Parliament Approves New Sanctions Laws That Also Apply to Crypto on: March 18, 2024, 03:47:57 AM
Well, it should be noted that the law has not been approved. As the same news item says at the end:

Quote
The legislation must now be greenlighted by the Council, which gathers top government officials from member states before it can become law.

For me it does not present any novelty, simply a harmonization and a clarification that crypto assets can be confiscated, as far as we are concerned, but I doubt that they could not be confiscated until now because it was not formally reflected in a European law.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All of us are more important to Bitcoin than Satoshi! on: March 18, 2024, 03:39:50 AM
I saw the title and I thought it was going to be the typical stupid thread that we usually see in this section, but it is not bad. I would qualify that today we are the important ones, and not Satoshi, but from the historical point of view we owe the Bitcoin to him and in that sense he is the most important, not only for having created and launched the Bitcoin for all mankind, but for getting out of the way.
299  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is entry into the signature campaign due to luck, achievement, or something else on: March 18, 2024, 03:30:08 AM
Because if I look, there are several participants who have a higher number of achievements but are not accepted.

Wipe your eyes, and glasses if you wear them, and look again, then.

People who are at the top of the rankings on bpip.org have no problem joining a signature campaign, if they want to. There are always exceptions to this, of course, like if you have your reputation destroyed, then you won't be able to join a campaign, but if you are a good contributor, you usually have no problem finding a campaign that will accept you.
300  Economy / Economics / Re: Digital Bank on: March 17, 2024, 04:02:08 AM
I am familiar, as I would say I have only been using online banking for more than 10 years. And I think that's the global trend. Going to a physical branch to update the passbook and things like that is very 20th century. Normally they do have buildings, usually a central office that you can go to, but they don't usually have the typical network of offices where people go in person to do the formalities. And if you think about it, why? Transfers, payments, purchase of financial assets, contracting loans and cards, I can do everything online. I don't need to go to a physical branch for anything, and even less knowing that they will try to sell me what is convenient for the bank as if it were convenient for me.
