661  Economy / Economics / Re: this makes a huge impact on the economy. on: November 24, 2023, 03:48:31 AM
This goes to show you how we as humans plan our lives around our salary. It is almost as if we are leaving to work for our salary and spend it the moment we are paid. And most of these expenses made when your salary has been received is impulse buying.

Speak for yourself. Some of us have a pre-made budget, with all the income and expenses and have been saving for a long time, so in reality payday has long since become just another day. Moreover, if I go to buy clothes in a physical store, for example, I wait until the end of the month because I know that there won't be many people, and I certainly do not go to the beginning when everyone has been paid because it is full. I like choosing my clothes quietly.

Which is why it Is not bad of you wait it out for a few days before making any expenses. You will have more clear and logical thinking if you do so.

Agreed, but better if you get used to budgeting.
662  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is the Bitcoin Lightning Network banned in Europe? on: November 24, 2023, 03:38:23 AM
I'm glad because I had seen the title and thought things in terms of LN were going faster than expected. Just in case I have searched and I don't see anything about it so it looks like a one-off problem with Binance, as has been commented. In this article from last year they talk about possible problems but not so much to prohibit as to force KYC transactions.:

Bitcoin Lightning Network at regulatory risk after Tornado Cash saga

663  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who is digaran Bitcointalk? (AI) on: November 23, 2023, 05:39:26 AM
I know it's difficult to understand, but negative tags that I got are for the following reasons:

Trying to suggest the implementation of "mandatory community services"

Trying to advocate on behalf of wrongfully accused members in reputation related cases for a fee.

If you can show me any written law, internationally accepted that what I did is considered scamming, I will admit to be a scammer, but if you can't, you or anybody else repeating the same baseless accusations warrants a negative trust for defamation IMO.

So, would you like me to move the thread back to the Reputation section so we can talk about those issues? Although I think it will be better to open a new one because in this one people would be still too much focused on AI.
664  Economy / Speculation / Re: This bullish momentum - Breaking through the $35,000 mark on: November 23, 2023, 04:05:45 AM
Bitcoin price stabilised around $36k for the past few days,

Well, I count 12 days since the OP opened the thread saying we were in a bullish moment but it doesn't seem so bullish today. But perhaps we are only in the calm before the storm.

and if this trend continues, we might see a pump toward $40k. I am expecting a price pump toward $45k at the end of this year or in early January next year. At the moment, the market trends are short-time bullish.

I have a similar feeling, but it's just a hunch, although partly based on my knowledge of the price evolution.

In a bigger picture, the market is still in the bear phase and might hit the low $20k price before the BTC halving event. This market correction is bound to happen for the BTC price to reach a new ATH.

On this I don't agree, I don't know where you see any bear phase.
665  Other / Archival / Re: 🌀 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: November 23, 2023, 03:55:48 AM
Let's turn our attention away from phishing scammers, I will make a small digression here by reminding all eligible users about this free raffle. 1 slot left for the Custom UniJoin Card. I am almost surprised that Unijoin's promoters are not interested in the possibility of receiving such a gift.

Well, we've talked about in the thread and many of us don't want to be part of it because of the privacy issue. It is something similar to what is being discussed in the Bitcoin Community Awards, where there is a widely shared view in wanting the award in Bitcoin because of privacy and there were several cases last year that turned down the physical awards because of that.

I wouldn't mind entering the raffle if I could somehow donate the prize if I am a winner.
666  Economy / Economics / Re: No Correlation Between Academic Success and Financial Success on: November 23, 2023, 03:41:24 AM
Those people who say high educated students who work for low educated students bla bla bla forget to make a calculation about:

1. High educated students who're successful/total number of high educated students, and;
2. Low educated students who're successful/total number of low educated students.

The reality is high educated students tend more successful than the low educated students because they have better financial, network, open minded, skillful etc.

Low educated students are very hardworker, but not all of them are lucky.

That's right. The fact is that if we talk about being salaried, employees with higher education obtain much better salaries on average than those without. It is when it comes to setting up businesses where we find cases like the ones the OP comments, that someone without higher education sets up a company, is successful and ends up hiring people with higher education who work for him (and earn much less money than him). But such cases are not the norm, rather the exception.
667  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who is digaran Bitcointalk? (AI) on: November 23, 2023, 03:31:35 AM
I still highly doubt it.

Well, I'm not going to try hard to convince you.

Even if it did, why would you start a topic about it?

Because the objective was not so much to talk about IA as about digaran's reputation.

This is the stupidest topic I've seen posted in this section in a long time, and the bar is already quite low.

I would be grateful if you would spare me such adjectives, I will spare myself them on your comments.

This belongs in Off-Topic if anywhere at all.

You are right, my intention was to talk about digaran's reputation, but it has become off-topic. I've moved it mysefl.

Hope this doesn't start some kind of IQ-lowering precedent.

I will spare you the comment.

Mmmhmm... And where do you think Microsoft has its headquarters?

I find it hard to believe that even in the USA a defamation suit for calling an anonymous forum nickname a troll is admissible.

668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone been able to make steady income with gambling ? on: November 23, 2023, 03:12:45 AM
Of course, playing poker, which strictly speaking falls under the concept of gambling but is essentially different from casino games. I have explained it several times, in my case it gives me a surplus salary, which can be a bit similar to what I earn with signature campaigns (at present even less) but it takes me more time to earn it and on top of that it is subject to variance. But, yes, if someone is looking for a steady income he has to play sports betting, poker, horse racing and I don't know if there are any others, but in any case they are not games with an inexorable EV-.
669  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What you need to know about trading on: November 23, 2023, 03:03:41 AM
Here is what you need to know about trading:

Don't trade.

This is the most useful tip for 99% of the people. I have explained ad nauseam that the percentage of traders is so low, tending to 0 as it is more frequent (intraday) and you add leverage, that the amount of time and effort you need to make money on top of gambling your capital does not pay off for the common mortal. But people are still determined to waste their time, money and effort, apart from giving advice.
670  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who is digaran Bitcointalk? (AI) on: November 23, 2023, 02:55:57 AM
Uh... I have a hard time believing this is real. Bing AI actually called somebody a troll?

Yes it did.

Seems like they would steer clear of doing anything that could potentially result in a defamation lawsuit against them,

Hey nutildah, I know that in the USA people go to court for anything but in Europe a defamation lawsuit applies to known people. A defamation lawsuit about a nickname in a forum is not even allowed to proceed.

I asked it the same thing and it returned a totally different answer:

AIs give different answers, and if you look at bing AI, like others, when it gives you the answer, it gives you 1/10, so if you don't like that answer it has 9 other possible answers for you. I have asked him again and he does not give me the same answer as yesterday.

Is this true? Dagaran avatar is also mixoro avatar, not holding a gun.

That's not true. I don't know where the AI got that from.

Deep down you're even funny. You are like proudhon, but he doesn't come to the forum as much.

673  Economy / Reputation / Re: Updated weekly: DT1-election: Rank up pipeline on: November 22, 2023, 04:38:17 AM
I thought of bumping this thread because I was thinking after the last update of http://loyce.club/trust/ that now I think I meet the requirements, and I see that, indeed, according to what was exposed in the OP if I would meet them to enter the lottery of DT1, and as I see in http://loyce.club/trust/ranking/ I am there.

Not really too bothered, more curious, I guess it was only logical that it would eventually enter the lottery. With more time on the forum, if you do things right, more people will include you. Kind of more responsibility I think because if you become DT1 and you have someone on your trust list and only you have them, their feedbacks become visible only thanks to you.

Thanks for another useful thread LoyceV.
674  Economy / Economics / Re: You are the product. Corporations spying on us deeper than we thought? on: November 22, 2023, 04:25:00 AM
That is why it's essential to not give apps a lot of permissions such as recording and camera especially if that app won't even use those things for it to function. It's been known that Google, Meta, and Amazon use your device's recording capabilities to allow for a more personalized ads that you are more likely to be lured at. Ever wonder why companies pay Google big bucks to use their Google Analytics platform? There's a lot that these corporations can do because we allow them to, albeit unknowingly, of coursez since most of them are hidden in layers of text that a normal person won't likely read anyway.

That's the point, people give all the permissions without looking at the apps and then are surprised because things like the OP describes happen.

Guys, let's see if you get this straight, the big business of the 21st century is neither RE nor guns nor drugs as in the 20th, it's Big Data. That is why it is more important than ever to take care of privacy in your phone use, paying with cash and using bitcoin taking care of privacy to the maximum.
675  Other / Off-topic / Who is digaran Bitcointalk? (AI) on: November 22, 2023, 04:15:15 AM
So, I asked bing AI the question and it answered like this:

Quote
Digaran is a user on the Bitcoin Forum, a platform for discussion and news about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Digaran has been a member since March 18, 2016 and has posted more than 5,000 messages on various topics. Digaran is also known for being a troll and a controversial figure on the forum, often provoking other users with his opinions and arguments. Some of his posts have been deleted or moved by the moderators for violating the forum rules. Digaran's current avatar is a picture of a masked man holding a gun and a sign that says "[banned mixer]", which is a service that claims to provide privacy by mixing Bitcoin transactions with Monero. You can find more information about Digaran by visiting his profile⁴ or reading his latest posts.

Then I had the pre stated option of asking about why he is controversial, so I chose to ask it and this is the awnswer:

Quote
Digaran is controversial because he has been involved in several conflicts and disputes with other users on the Bitcoin Forum. Some of the reasons why Digaran is controversial are:

- He has been accused of being a troll and a scammer by many users, who claim that he posts misleading or false information, insults or harasses other members, and tries to manipulate the forum for his own benefit¹²³.
- He has been given negative trust ratings by several reputable users, who warn others not to trust or deal with him. Some of these ratings are based on his alleged involvement in blackmailing, extorting, or threatening other users for money or merit²³.
- He has been banned or suspended from the forum multiple times for violating the forum rules, such as spamming, plagiarizing, or posting low-quality content. He has also been reported to the moderators or the admin for his abusive or disruptive behavior¹²³.
- He has expressed controversial or unpopular opinions on various topics, such as politics, religion, or cryptography, which have sparked heated debates or arguments with other users. He has also challenged or criticized some of the established or respected members of the forum, such as developers, merit sources, or staff¹²³.

These are some of the reasons why Digaran is controversial, but there may be more that I am not aware of. You can find more information about Digaran by visiting his profile⁴ or reading his latest posts.

Do you think this is a good summary of this troll? I use practically every day the AI in my daily life and I can see that in some aspects it has to improve, so I don't trust it to be 100% accurate, but it seems a pretty good summary, and it has made me understand some things, for example, from the last links quoted, I see that he was a merit source, and that he was probably removed, so I understand better that he opens stupid threads like this one:

Petition for 1miau to be removed as a merit source!
676  Other / Archival / Re: Petition for 1miau to be removed as a merit source! on: November 22, 2023, 04:02:45 AM
The bad thing about the forum is that according to what I read, no one has been banned for trolling for a long time.

If not, the OP would be the clearest candidate to be banned for trolling, because he in not enough to get paid for saying bullshit, but every now and then he comes out with great ideas like this, that only convince him, and maybe some weirdo like him.

No, troll, there is no reason to remove 1miau as a merit source.
677  Other / Meta / Re: Losing entire post if you hit back arrow accidently on: November 22, 2023, 03:59:49 AM
I don't know if the billon dollar one will have that feature but this one does has solutions for that. If you click on preview, what you have written is saved, and if you accidentally click on the back arrow, then click on the forward arrow and the text is as it is.

I would expect the new forum to be like that or better.
678  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you in profit? on: November 21, 2023, 03:40:22 AM
The percentage of winners in gambling is lower than those who lose, you may be one of the people who are unlucky in gambling, including me and several other people who have commented here.

If we talk about long term, there are no winners in gambling, if we understand casino games as such. After so much time in the forum and visiting this section I see that there are a lot of people who do not understand such simple concepts as House Edge or Expected Value. In casino games you can come out a winner one session, or several, winner in the short term, but the bigger the sample, the more times you play, the loss of money with respect to the money wagered becomes inexorable.

I am in long term profit but because I mainly play poker and there is no House Edge. On the other hand, I can make plays with positive expected value.
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Germany's fourth largest bank "Commerzbank" Granted Bitcoin Custody Licence. on: November 21, 2023, 03:32:06 AM
Should we really be thrilled because a bank has been licensed to literally become a "crypto bank"? After years of warning that CEXs are not a place to store cryptocurrencies, are we going to get another weak link in the chain?

It seems that a new era is coming, in which people will buy shitcoins and then store them in banks, and they will of course pay for this service. That will surely "end well" Roll Eyes

Well, actually, what this is going to facilitate is that my aunty, who used to buy only government bonds and some funds recommended by the bank, can end up buying Bitcoin and storing it there, because there is no way she is going to buy a HW, set up seeds and make transactions autonomously.

This is the catch-22 situation we have been in for years now. Everything that helps to popularize Bitcoin and mass adoption, moves it away from a P2P use outside of banks and states.
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Argentina Be The Next El Salvador To Accept Bitcoin As Legal Tender? on: November 21, 2023, 03:21:46 AM
He has too many problems to think about before that one. The first thing he wants to do is to dollarize the economy and I only see the Bitcoin thing as plausible if he spends a long time in power, that is, if he renews in 4 years. Besides, we have to think that he has no power in Congress, so his room for maneuver will be very limited at least until 2 years from now.
