1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your reasons for adopting cryptocurrency? on: August 01, 2023, 08:46:12 AM
Lately majority of people find theirselves within the crypto space, but many of them do not really understand the actual reasons for adopting crypto currency other than to make profit, what are your own reasons for adopting cryptocurrency?

Actually, make a profit is the most important one, because if Bitcoin were constantly making losses, and eventually went to 0, all its essential attributes, such as decentralization or limiting supply, would become useless.

But profit aside, I only hold Bitcoin because it is a way of storing and transferring value that does not depend on a state or banking institutions. Which at any given moment I could take with me wherever I go if I had to flee. This, and its limited nature make it a premium financial asset, if not the best, and has a lot to do with the price increase it has had since its inception.
1222  Other / Meta / Re: re: "how to earn merit" topics on: August 01, 2023, 08:36:11 AM
If you are referring to those who create these threads, not asking, but explaining, it is curious because it is clear that some are alts trying to fish for merit. Seeing someone who has little to no merits explain in detail in an OP how to get merits or write quality posts is a big LOL.

There are some who simply ask "How can I get merit on Bitcointalk?" and I don't predict a great future for them in this forum because they are the kind of people who expect to have everything handed to them on a platter.
1223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 18, holding my bitcoin and looking forward :) on: August 01, 2023, 08:31:29 AM
I am 18 yo
schooling in private college
I flip stuff for cash part time regularly to make some extra cash

I have 1 Bitcoin @ 29k  & I keep about $3000 in cash in my bank as emergency fund

I have 3 months study break so I am most probably gonna take on a job to fund the bitcoin , trying to fund as much as I can before the halving in 2024

Not bad, already an emergency fund and investing in Bitcoin. At the age you are at, I would say that the most important thing is to focus on training in skills that will allow you to earn high incomes. To this, I hope you are training without debt. How are you paying for college? Are your parents paying for it?

As for Bitcoin think about even if it goes up a lot in price never sell everything. It is better to go making DCA to accumulate with partial sales at the peaks of the cycle.
1224  Economy / Speculation / Re: A technical view of Bitcoin's Current Market Situation and what to anticipate. on: August 01, 2023, 05:32:15 AM
The reversal of such a pattern is usually back to somewhere close to the beginning of the trend, which should be around ATH 69k.

In what time frame is that supposed to happen? I wouldn't expect it for at least a year from now, but with Bitcoin I wouldn't be too surprised if it ends up happening sooner either.
1225  Economy / Economics / Re: Reason why you will never become rich on: August 01, 2023, 05:25:15 AM
The first reason why you can never be rich is too much  responsibilities...

A bit vague what you say but OK.

The second reason why you can never become rich is not knowing how to use money. There are several ways money can be use :  spending,  savings,  and investing.  Many of us already know about spending and even when we spend we spend on things that are not really needed but just to impress people who don't care about you.

I put savings and investment in the same category, they would be two subcategories of the same thing, but you left out a very important one, giving. In other words, for me, I either spend my money, save/invest it or donate it.

Buying liabilities,  things that doesn't have value five years from now.  Many save but even when money is saved,  it is done to spend and not to invest and the only way to become rich is to invest and not by savings.  So , invest in assets and not liabilities.

With this, I agree.

Instead of talking about getting rich, because it is a concept that can vary over time and depending on the geographical situation, I like to talk about improving your economic situation. And that is within everyone's reach from the moment they start to control income and expenses and try to diversify and maximize income. With the surplus, an emergency fund is saved and the rest is invested. With this, everyone improves and lives more peacefully.
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When it's all set and done, do not forget those in need. on: July 31, 2023, 02:43:50 PM
What the OP says is pretty bullshit.

If your dream comes true, it doesn't make others useless or lazy, we just all can't get lucky, some will fail and some will win.

There was someone famous who said something like, "What a coincidence that luck always catches me working."

If you follow a wealth building plan, controlling income and expenses, maximizing income, diversifying income sources, investing among other things in Bitcoin etc., the result will be due to the execution of the plan rather than luck.

But many people like you have not stopped to do numbers with the Bitcoin and think that one with moderate income is going to get rich enough to buy yachts and islands, and it is not so. Someone with an average income who invests 10% of his income in Bitcoin doing DCA and enduring one or two cycles will improve his economic situation and get richer but will not reach an obscene level of wealth. You can calculate it in https://dcabtc.com/

Before you say that I am talking trash, Bitcoin investment is like taking from some and feeding others, what this mean is someone is buying from you when you are dumping, it's like the world shape, it goes around.

You are talking trash. You are one more of those who believe that wealth is like a pie, something static, and that if some take more of the pie they take away from others.

So try as much as possible to help those that are in need in your surroundings, or help others that are living far away from you, you can do this anonymously too if you think it's not safe, this is the right way to bring back into the community.

I already do that.
1227  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hhampuz using his position on forum to vindicate scams on: July 31, 2023, 02:32:33 PM
I have had accounts on all gambling sites I promote without letting the client know that it's me, with major deposits/withdraws and thorough testing over long periods of time and I never face any issues. I've even been nasty to support reps just to see what would happen and never do they treat me wrong.

This is quite clever of you and does you credit. But from what you say I have a doubt.

For this particular case, my personal belief is that this user took advantage of a system and came out ahead of it (profit). He then got called out for it by Rollbit and subsequently banned with any remaining funds confiscated. I do not see a problem with this. Had this user not been in profit, I would probably argue otherwise and give Rollbit some sort of ultimatums to get it solved.

How was he supposed to take advantage of the system without profiting from it? I believe that this hypothesis is unrealistic.
1228  Economy / Economics / Re: These are the top 100 brands by value in 2023 on: July 31, 2023, 02:23:50 PM
I was not familiar with the concept of brand value, although it is not entirely uncommon. I wonder what the concept is for if by market cap we already have those companies, although not in that order. Having the highest market cap in the world is not achieved by being a garbage company, nor by being among the top 10. From that point on, one can do more research on certain aspects.

If I want to buy shares of one of these companies, brand value does not bring me anything.

Haha, believe the number of members on the discord server haha.. Seems like their marketing is working

If you notice, moreover, we are accusing him of scamming all the comments in the thread, I even red tagged him and he simply left the link without stopping to dismantle the accusations. He is simply waiting to catch some clueless or unwary person, because he knows he has nothing to do with us.
1230  Economy / Lending / Re: You can have access to Same source of capital as wall street does it new credit on: July 30, 2023, 01:23:25 PM
What a load of bullshit. I'm not even surprised by the bullshit I see on the forums any more, and on this board I see a few but this is the last straw, instead of a crude attempt to scam, the OP has devised an ideal system for him or his "team" to be scammed (I say "team" since he speaks in the plural).

Sounds to me like a teenager writing from his mum's basement all excited because he thought he found a great idea to get rich:

Yes we just copy paste the wall Street fed and bankers activity.

1231  Economy / Economics / Re: The gloomy light called subsidy. on: July 30, 2023, 08:52:36 AM
~snip

The forum memberer to whom you are responding is one of those who does not see the overall picture. In healthy and productive economies a certain level of subsidy can be maintained. But the country's economy works in spite of the subsidy, not because of it. To think then that subsidy is good by system would take us to the extreme to a planned economy where if something is expensive for the people, either it is massively subsidized, or maximum prices are set causing shortages. That was seen in many countries in the 20th century, and it is still seen in some in the 21st century, little variety of products, queues, rationing cards, years to get a durable consumer good like a car, etc.

In general, people who defend this economic vision are too simple. Is anyone poor? We give him a subsidy. Is money needed? We print more. The price of a certain good or service is too high or too expensive? We set prices by decree.

In the end, there are natural laws such as supply and demand that cannot be controlled by decree, and this is what leads certain economies to disaster.
1232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you use Bitcoin to pay everything online? on: July 30, 2023, 08:38:15 AM
I am asking this question because bitcoin is a digital currency for exchange of goods and services.

Kind of but you do not have the right approach on the subjet. Bitcoin was created as a currency and can be used as such, although today it is better as an investment vehicle than as a currency.

Why are you going to spend something that appreciates enormously. Wouldn't it be better to keep it or spend little? Today it makes no sense to use Bitcoin to buy bread, for that better to use fiat, shitcoins or CBDCs.
1233  Other / Archival / Re: How to manage bitcoin correctly? on: July 29, 2023, 01:31:22 PM
When BTC reached $69000. I didn't choose to sell it. but the current price of Bitcoin dropped to less than $30000. Is it the most reasonable choice to sell BTC now and turn your attention to other investments? I hope to get some good suggestions. Although I have held BTC for many years. I am not good at management.

The answer depends on many factors, such as do you have an overall wealth building plan? It gives me the answer is that it does not.

It's not the same if you have bought a lump sum and you are doing DCA, it's not the same if you have an emergency fund, or wealth in other assets or if you don't have it, etc.

If you specify more points we can help you better.

In terms of profitability with a certain level of security nothing is going to beat bitcoin, so if you have your finances under control, I would keep the investment only partially selling if at all during the bull market peaks.
1234  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Investors Confidence in Bitcoin💪 on: July 29, 2023, 08:13:25 AM
And in view of this in 2020 I invest some of my savings in Bitcoin.
From teaching, when Bitcoin broke past record highs at the end of 2021, I had the opportunity to make a good profit from my invested Bitcoins, but my strong belief in Bitcoins prevented me from selling Bitcoins, after which the price of Bitcoins began to decline.  Then different people tried to discourage me in different ways but it is from this forum that predictions about Bitcoin and my confidence in Bitcoin still make me come.

Hopefully during the Bitcoin Halving of 2024, Bitcoin will break all previous records and reach a peak price.

What is your opinion on this?

We have to be aware that the Bitcoin price moves following similar patterns in 4-year cycles, and, although not necessarily 100% the future has to be like the past, seeing those patterns can help us to get an idea of what is the best way to accumulate Bitcoin, and for that we have to have a long term vision.

Doing like you is fine, and although you don't say exactly at what price you bought, during the next cycle you are sure to be in profits and can do some partial selling.

A good strategy to accumulate is to do pure DCA, i.e. buy exactly the same amount every week or month, but the DCA has variants, and one of them quite interesting is to regularly buy the same amount but take advantage of bear market moments to buy more and the peaks of the cycle to sell.

Study, learn, and decide which strategy suits you best.
1235  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is copy trading a viable option for newcomers? on: July 29, 2023, 08:01:57 AM
Being a novice it is a bad idea to start trading, and copy trading even worse.

Also, those traders in copytrading platforms mostly don't know what they're doing. Copying them just looks attractive because of their short-mid term gains. Wait till you see their long-term performance(most likely red, or subpar gains compared to just holding BTC).

This. In the end you will be paying someone to copy a strategy, which will probably not only be focused on Bitcoin but also on crypto, and which in many cases will lead you to ruin. With stock trading in some chaos copy trading can have a certain reliability, with people with public long term results, and yet you never know when the streak is going to break.

The best thing for a newbie to do is to learn about Bitcoin and start doing DCA. But of course, this is much more boring than trading (although a safer way to get rich).

Another thing is that the leverage you use and the leverage the lead trader use may be different. Your trade may have higher leverage and riskier.

This is an important point to keep in mind as well.
1236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining is friendly to the Environment says MIT on: July 29, 2023, 07:45:14 AM
So I guess now maybe we will be able to buy a Tesla with Bitcoin and Elon will once again add Bitcoin to its Tesla balance sheet again?

Tesla still has some Bitcoin on its balance sheet:

Quote
Tesla held 42,902 bitcoins, but on July 20, 2022 it was announced that they sold 75% of their holdings bringing the company's total down to 10,725.

You might not remember but he removed it because he said Bitcoin mining is not green and he would reverse his decision if it was. So maybe this article will change his mind.

At this point I couldn't care less what Musk does or doesn't on this regard but MIT is a source reliable enough to change his or anyone's mind about the alleged Bitcoin environmental harm.
1237  Economy / Reputation / Re: Another giveaway, or how merit hunters smell the catch. on: July 29, 2023, 04:41:29 AM
I did my further digging and think you guys should rather focus on those Bengali guys as their actions are truly questionable, not only them, such is common on that board, but leave @capoeira out of it, he can handle his account the way he wants and I see nothing in common with the account and those  Bengalis. The guy writes in Portuguese, not Bengali and his last activity was last week (July 17, 2023, 04:10:22 PM) contrary to what some people said. He also has some regular activities in recent months.

I agree with this. For me he is someone who was not used to handing out merit and decided one day to start handing out the one he had. In fact, he says in one of his posts:

essa turma é foda.
se não tivesse gastado daria 10 mérito para todos aqui rs
 (translation: his class is fucked.
if i hadn't spent i would give 10 merit to everyone here lol)

It's wisdom, he should have joined a campaign by now if he's like them, and he didn't even apply to any campaign for long, so I don't possibly see a reason to suspect this user for sharing big merits instead of keeping them wasting.

Most likely.
1238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm new here on Bitcointalk because Bitcointalk is important for Bitcoin on: July 29, 2023, 04:29:47 AM
Welcome, and now that you have expressed your enthusiasm, I recommend that you use the forum on a daily basis to learn mainly, since you say you don't know much, and with time you will also be able to contribute your knowledge and exchange impressions. That's what a forum is for. If you have doubts about the technical aspects, people who know a lot are quite helpful but you'd better do some research to have a minimum of knowledge before asking.
1239  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.3BTC Approx on: July 28, 2023, 03:36:46 PM
Well, these are these curious stories that we see around here, in which I think that the person who asks for the loan does it like someone who buys a lottery ticket, the probability that you win is 0 by mathematical approximation, but it doesn't cost you much effort or time to write a shitty post asking for the money.

As CYBER_COWBOY says, you can give the repair company the advance that the insurance has given you, let them go to work and when the rest of the insurance money arrives, pay them the rest. The company is not going to ask for everything in advance. And even you needed the money so urgently, it would be more logical for you to get the money from your bank.

Anyway, in these cases, the simplest explanation is the real one, and that is that it is a crude attempt to keep $10K and not show up here again.
1240  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a best way of withdrawing profits from exchanges? on: July 28, 2023, 03:25:51 PM
I hope you're not planning to keep your funds on exchanges for a couple of years, that's not wise. Use a hardware wallet instead.

This. Get a HW wallet ASAP, withdraw your funds to it and when you want to sell in a couple of years, then deposit the coins and sell them but don't keep them for so long on exchanges. Well, assuming you have a certain amount, if you have like $170 it's not worth the hassle.
