881  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 500.casino csgo500.com $1,500 was confiscated for no reason on: October 17, 2023, 03:59:16 AM
Well, then it seems that the $1.5K was not confiscated for no reason, but that the casino had their reasons, as usual, because according to them the OP has broken the rules. The only thing left for the OP if he is sure he is right would be to take them to the ordinary courts but it would cost him more to do so than he could recover. I'm afraid there's not much more we can do from this forum.
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Awareness - Welcoming New Bitcoiners with $1 Worth of Sat in Cameroon on: October 17, 2023, 03:52:11 AM
It seems like you are doing a good job. The only thing, I imagine that the LN is done through some centralized entity, isn't it? Otherwise you should open a channel to send that $1 to each person. In general everything that involves a popularization of Bitcoin seems to me a good idea even if it does not fit perfectly into Satoshi's initial idea of P2P.
883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin base case target on 2030 is $682,800 according to Ark Invest on: October 16, 2023, 02:45:13 AM
These mega-bullish predictions aren't new from these crypto personalities. Credits for Cathie Wood for building a respectable investment management company, but her predictions on Bitcoin don't sound practical or realistic to me. Of course she probably means it that way to stoke a certain level FOMO among investors. Who knows, it could become a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I don't see this as a great way for Bitcoin to grow. Well, see you 7 years from now.

Of course, the problem with the prediction is that whoever makes it has an economic interest in it being so, even though they will have done their research and put in three scenarios to reinforce the appearance of objectivity. I guess it doesn't say anything to us on the forum, but I think that predictions of this style attract retail investors, especially in bull markets, when many of them come to the fore.
884  Economy / Economics / Re: Cracking the Code of Saving Money... on: October 16, 2023, 02:40:31 AM
The simple thing we do is think simply, don't even think about replacing your mobile phone with the newest type and don't install online shopping applications that make us always tempted to shop, when on holiday stopping internet access is the best solution so that we can always keep it from getting easy. shopping, apart from that we have to make a daily and monthly spending budget.

Yeah, I think a budget and having the mentality to keep consumer spending low is essential. I don't think a code or anything is necessary either, which complicates things too much. The generation of our grandparents was something they practiced by default because there was not the abundance of today (I refer especially to developed countries) and saving for tomorrow was necessary, not a difficult option in the face of so many offers, different means of payment and even of financing, as it is today.
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Low cost but effective solutions to gambling addiction on: October 16, 2023, 02:30:06 AM
Yes, the therapy will only be a waste if you do not help yourself. Decide on the spot where you want to stop gambling, make up your mind for your goal, and focus on it. There should be no more alteration to happen until you make it happen.

Therapy helps but will not work in 100% of cases. I know of some people who quit cold turkey without therapy but the way was not cheap either. After a gambling binge that ruined his finances leaving him in debt there came a time when he hit rock bottom and as far as I know he has never gambled again. Normally to make it on your own you have to have hit rock bottom. And to get out of them if you have had serious problems you have to be clear that you can never bet again, not even a single bet.
886  Other / Meta / Re: It is bad to use AI to help my post quality improve? on: October 16, 2023, 02:22:27 AM
I'd like to highlight a particular point here to show that your AI checking mechanism is incorrect. There's no valid argument in this case, and it seems like you haven't investigated thoroughly before making your post.

The post you mentioned was created on "July 25, 2022, 02:20:35 PM," and based on my research, ChatGPT (the only AI I'm aware of) was launched on November 30, 2022. So, how could a verifier predict that my post is AI-generated when it was created before the AI was introduced?

Not only that post, but all the other posts he cites, 3 in total, were written before November 30, 2022 which makes it even more ridiculous.

The point is, AI detectors aren't that accurate so don't fully rely on it.

And I would add: lest you end up making a fool of yourself.

I said it from the beginning in the debates about it in the forum. To me this is being approached wrongly, as the only debate I see is how to ban from the forum what is just another part of our lives that is changing the world, just as it happened with the Internet. It is clear that generating posts massively with ChatGPT and passing them off as your own creation is not what I would consider a good use of the forum, but using it to collect background information or even using the information it writes, always quoting, I think would be reasonable uses.

In that sense I would recommend you to use it as long as it is not for copy paste and always bearing in mind that you are going to have a lot of inquisitors reviewing your posts as the enlightened one who has reviewed posts of yours that were written before the launch of ChatGPT.
887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help this time with a personal situation on: October 16, 2023, 02:06:48 AM
You only earn $12 in a month? I'm curious what your job is, but I think the amount is very small and if you already have a wife and children it will definitely be difficult to survive. Maybe you need to look for a better job considering you are already 28 years old

You may have missed that he lives in Cuba and that he is a doctor. The situation in Cuba is so disastrous that qualified professionals have trouble feeding themselves. Wonders of socialism.

CryptoDeivid, I think the best advice you have been given is to use the forum and over time you can join the signature campaigns that will pay you at least $50/week when you start, and over time you can aim for $100/week or more but it is a long term plan, to use the forum well regularly and not see money in about 9 months at least.

888  Economy / Reputation / Re: Murat Scammed 62k Metropoly token on: October 15, 2023, 10:48:47 AM
Well, in flags Type 2 and 3 it is explicitely stated "This user violated a casual or implied agreement with me/This user violated a written contract with me" so its not correct to create one if you are not affected by it and flag Type 1 should be used in that case.

Lol. So I had it as easy as trying to create a flag, without finishing it, to know the answer.  Grin

This could lead to a curious case analogous to when in a trial the accused is acquitted due to formal defects in the processing. If a DT created the flag without being affected, hypothetically he might not have enough support even if the flag was very well argued because he was not the right person to do it.
889  Economy / Reputation / Re: Murat Scammed 62k Metropoly token on: October 15, 2023, 10:25:25 AM
Technically, does it make sense for someone who has not been directly affected by that violation to create it? It is that I think that hypothetically if it was done it should be by someone affected, and then the supporting force to the flag would come from the votes of DTs if applicable.
I didn't think that Stalker22 meant him (or any of us here discussing it) making Type 2 flag but instead one of the bounty hunters as they were the ones affected with this.

That is what I have assumed, but I was also asking in a general way. I imagine that the logical thing is that the flag is created by someone directly affected, but if it is created by a DT not directly affected, would it contravene any rule? I don't think so.
890  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'John Abraham ≈ naim027' Coincidence or Connection? on: October 15, 2023, 10:23:01 AM
Perhaps, icopress had left the feedback as he was running the signature campaign of StarBets.

I imagined something like this. Just because naim027 has plagiarized, evaded, cheated and manipulated doesn't mean he's going to do 100% of things wrong. Surely the business deals he did behind that account and others were correct and executed to perfection. Just as I understand that he is also a good writer for signature campaigns. And it seems that also working for a team managing campaigns updating spreadsheets and the like he does things right.

Another thing is that as he has shown repeatedly that he has no moral principles to make money in principle making deals with him is high risk, no matter if according to his mental calculations being honest is more profitable in the long run than running off with the money in some particular deals or jobs.
891  Economy / Reputation / Re: Murat Scammed 62k Metropoly token on: October 15, 2023, 10:14:19 AM
Technically speaking, this even deserves a Type 2 Flag, since he violated the implied agreement. Least thats how I get it.

Technically, does it make sense for someone who has not been directly affected by that violation to create it? It is that I think that hypothetically if it was done it should be by someone affected, and then the supporting force to the flag would come from the votes of DTs if applicable.

@Murat care to explain escrow situation?

He was active again today, but he is not really taking it seriously enough to provide an explanation.

That's what it looks like. I understand that according to him what he has already said on the subject is enough and he does not want to talk more.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Distinguishing Between Bitcoin Halving And Crypto Burn on: October 15, 2023, 10:06:06 AM
Anyway, we already have another thread in this section that is based on a questionable premise:

Bitcoin halving has always been confused for crypto burning most especially by those who are new to the crypto space.

The first I have heard of it. I guess it will be more common in those who are approaching the "crypto" market for the first time giving them the same Bitcoin as shitcoins, and not understanding the essential differences.

Halving is unique to Bitcoin while crypto burning is very much like buybacks of shares that companies do and take them out of circulation. I think although they don't call it "burning" it is essentially the same thing. Here you can clearly see how shitcoins are securities, as the management team of the company or shitcoin does and undoes as they please on the supply.

893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is different from other means of investment on: October 15, 2023, 09:59:20 AM
And what happened exactly? The buildings were built in an area that the government now considers illegal to build or something like that?

Yes, Bitcoin if you self-custody it and use it well is much more difficult to fall into the clutches of the state as in this case, but the house you live in, apart from being an investment is necessary. You are not going to have everything in bitcoin and live on the street. The other option would be to live renting and have everything in bitcoin but it is better to diversify a little and that what you pay month to month is towards the equity you have in the house, not a sunk money that you give to the landlord.

894  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 500.casino csgo500.com $1,500 was confiscated for no reason on: October 14, 2023, 04:41:44 PM
Your case nows fall on a very delicate spot which is very hard to solve on the forum unless the casino is willing to provide the proof they have that established your connection to other account which the ToS.

Yes, but they are under no obligation to do so on the forum, as far as I know. So if they don't want to, the only thing left for the OP would be the legal way to claim his money, and for a change they have a Curaçao license, which is not like if you have a similar problem with the bookie on the corner or the casino in your city and you go to the police station or the court to file a lawsuit. It will cost you more to send a claim to Curaçao than the money they withhold.

There’s no way you can get your profit when you violate the casino ToS but you have the right to receive your original deposit.

I ask this out of ignorance. Is this always the case? Can't they claim damages to keep it?
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ferrari introduced BTC payment option for their cars on: October 14, 2023, 09:59:31 AM
I seriously doubt that there is a high interest among those who own bitcoin to use it to purchase an expensive car like a Ferrari.
Well, not many people buy Ferrari in general (they sell 10-15k cars per year which is nothing compared to let's say Toyota who sells 10 million) but there's still decent amount of nouveau riche crypto millionaires who like to flex with expensive cars so there will be some interest.

I do think it's good news and I see more sense for those who can afford it to pay for a Ferrari with Bitcoin than to pay for coffees. As for the difference between Ferrari and Tesla, I would say that whoever can afford the Ferrari is so rich that probably yes he will be inclined to pay for the Ferrari with Bitcoin after a good rise in bull market. A Tesla is more middle class and undoing an investment such as Bitcoin to pay for a liability that depreciates does not make much sense but the Ferrari is upper class, people whose assets generate profits that exceed their level of consumption.

It's a "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" it is supposed to buy things, and Ferrari is selling things, it's like a perfect match!
I'm starting to believe the biggest obstacle right now to mass adoption for it like a true p2p system is the holders themselves!

You may have missed this:

They are not accepting BTC (and a few other cryptocurrencies) directly but instead via Bitpay ...

This doesn't seem like P2P to me. In addition to the fact that it is obviously a KYC purchase.
896  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FIRST STEP IS DIFFICULT OTHER 9 STEP ARE EASY on: October 14, 2023, 09:51:00 AM
If I may ask, what exactly do you expect from this forum?

That everything is served to him on a platter. That we explain to him step by step, how to succeed in this forum, where oddly enough, money is made. I don't remember seeing people asking questions like this in the various other forums I have been to and still visit from time to time. Instead in this section we have every now and then threads like this one.

Just look around and join the discussion that interests you or what you want to know more about.

In other words, if you want to learn to swim without getting wet, you're in trouble. I would understand more if in this section newbies would ask questions after doing some digging. Like simple questions about block mining or the 21 million cap, things like that, but questions like "what is this forum about", "tell me what I have to do to succeed in this forum" and the like I think are tolerated in a very benevolent way with newbies that in other parts of the forum would be deleted for low value.

897  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'John Abraham ≈ naim027' Coincidence or Connection? on: October 14, 2023, 09:38:29 AM
Well, I know that the StarBets account (BPIP) is also operated by naim027. Or at least it was for a period of time. But since there is no password change recorded in the logs, it is probably still under his control.

How do you know that? I see it has positive feedback by icopress, lol.

Oh, he might. But I doubt he'll show his face around here again, especially after that little brain malfunction incident. Wink

I think he will have no problem showing his face when the accounts he manages are revealed, as theymos and the moderators have made it clear that they are not going to do anything to him for having ban evaded and I imagine that even if he gets a few red tags it will not affect his ability to earn from signature campaigns.
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: October 13, 2023, 02:47:46 PM
This, which does not make sense in casino games, EV-, is more common than it seems in poker, to play high buy-in tournaments and to play in high stakes at tables where there are whales and the good player does not have enough bankroll. It was also common in online poker schools to train people for free but in exchange for a percentage of their profits for a while. For my part I have not done it because I try to avoid any kind of debt, but it is not uncommon in poker.
899  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'John Abraham ≈ naim027' Coincidence or Connection? on: October 13, 2023, 02:38:08 PM
Fair enough, its probably not nice to just throw names around like that.

I spent quite a while putting it together and I'm pretty sure I know who they are, just putting in some finishing touches.

In any case, I don't know what practical repercussions it may have. My reconciled friend said that Naim027 works for him updating spreadsheets and the like, and also lately he has been hiring people with a few red tags, so if you now reveal those two accounts and a few DTs we leave them half a dozen red tags maybe that will have no practical consequence. I mean maybe it won't affect the money he is earning on the forum. However, we should not neglect our duty, which is to red tag those accounts.
900  Economy / Economics / Re: Not your keys > Evergrande collapse triggers bank run in China on: October 13, 2023, 02:32:22 PM
CNN reporting it was a localised bank run so not widespread & nothing to worry about yet.

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2023/10/12/economy/china-bank-run-evergrande-intl-hnk/index.html

Clearly the fiat banking system is failing & it’s only a matter of time until it collapses. This is why we bitcoin, obviously self custody is the only way to go.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if a major media outlet like CNN is collaborating with the powers that be so that people don't get nervous and run to their bank. Which makes me wonder about the meaning of bank run today. In Europe there are countries, especially in the Nordic countries, where cash has hardly been used for many years. In China the use of cash in 2022 was 20% following a clear downward trajectory over the previous 10 years, so we can assume that by the end of 2023 it will be clearly below 10%.

When all those who boast of not having used cash years ago and pay for everything with their smartwatch go running to the bank in cases like this, what do they expect? To be given cash? Lol. They have contributed to entrench a system in which money is a mere accounting entry that can disappear at any time. What are they complaining about? They can devalue cash by printing it, but if you carry it with you or keep it at home, they can't make it disappear at the click of a button. And the best is coming soon with the CBDCs.

Fortunately we have honorable exceptions, such as Germany, which is the EU country that uses cash the most, and the richest, which I believe may have a slight relation.
