781  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: November 06, 2023, 04:34:57 AM
Well, he doesn't play cards well. He may not be active in this discussion, but he again resorted to revenge moves and everyone who excluded or distrusted him on the trust list, retaliated in kind.

You're right, I hadn't realized that and it doesn't seem like a good move. It could still be worse, though, if he was active in this discussion with insults and such.

Anyway, unless something else happens I see it unlikely that he will fall out of the DT1 lottery, as I think most of those who still trust him will continue to do so if everything stays the same.
782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: First buy Bitcoin as a newbie, good way to start. on: November 05, 2023, 04:00:59 AM
I use myself as an example, be for I started to acquire knowledge about Bitcoin, I first bought some amount of Bitcoin and held it in my personal wallet, not an exchange wallet, and I had my wallet keys properly saved, and after that, I became more active innthe forum and reading comments and posts and doing other bitcoin related research,  and that made it easy for my to accumulate more bitcoin while studying, and this has helped me in much greater ways and I thought it could help others here, most especially newbies.
I don’t think what you said here is true. How can you be a total newbie to bitcoin and go and invest without any prior knowledge of how the investment goes? You said that you store it in your personal wallet, which I think a total newbie won’t know about. Most newbies mostly store their first bitcoin in exchanges...

Sounds like a made-up story to me to get merit. It would be nice if he specified what kind of "personal wallet" he used, because if it was a custodial wallet it's not a great idea, and if it's not, there are only two types: a paper wallet which is almost impossible for a newbie to have made, or a HW which is unlikely. He says he was a student when he bought. How much was he able to buy? $50? and did he spend more than that previously on a HW for his first purchase to have it available? Sounds pretty unlikely story to me.

783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A milestone of introducing and initiating a friend to Bitcoin investments on: November 05, 2023, 03:51:32 AM
Well, this is another typical story in this section, which we may doubt if it is made up to get merit, but even giving the benefit of the doubt to the OP, I think a bit along the lines of mk4 that you have to tread carefully when introducing other people to Bitcoin. Firstly because by telling other people about Bitcoin, we are revealing that we have and that poses a potential risk, and secondly because of what was said that it may result in financial loss to that person and them blaming us.
784  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: November 05, 2023, 03:44:22 AM
I would add that I think Ratimov, after the fuck-up he made with the thread deletion, is playing his cards right atm, not getting into the fray. I guess he'll wait for things to cool down over time.
785  Other / Archival / Re: 🌀 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: November 04, 2023, 04:44:05 AM
How about a user who is a little paranoid?
One who does not want to give up his shipment location?

We discussed this a few pages back in the thread. If you care about your privacy to the fullest, then don't participate. Then there are other options like having a PO box and having it sent to a name other than your own (or simply "the owner"), so the most anyone will know about you is the approximate area where you live.

Depending on where you live there are also other options:

Personally, when I need to have something delivered from the forum, I choose a letterbox belonging to a third party, or I use an empty box in a building and put the name of my choice on it (in my country, postman's key-passes are legal to buy as an individual).

People can always choose to have their items delivered where they want and with someone else's name on it. What I mean is that there's no proof that the cards are sent to the users' real addresses.

786  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat & Crypto - Effective Expert Advise on: November 04, 2023, 04:36:02 AM
~snip

Look, first of all you need to have an emergency fund to cover 3 to 6 months of expenses, if you don't already have one. It's from personal finance 101.

Then, if you want to get financial stability through "cryptocurrencies" I advise you to forget that word. Use only Bitcoin. The best you can do is a strategy known as DCA which is to buy at regular intervals. How much can you buy? $50 a week or $50 a month? Buy every week or month depending on your situation the same amount. In 5 years there is a very high probability that you will have obtained a very good return on your investment.

You can get an idea by simulating at https://dcabtc.com/ (the only thing is that the simulation is based on the past, and the future does not necessarily have to be like the past, but it serves as a guide).

787  Economy / Economics / Re: US GDP growth beats WS estimates, grows at 4.9% , and this is good for Bitcoin on: November 04, 2023, 04:30:26 AM
Pretty much socialism, instead of getting everyone rich, let's kill the rich and have everyone be poor and equal. Not to mention the whole let's hate the US because they rejected my visa 100 times!  Grin

Lol. I nearly died laughing at this.

It depends because we don't know the effects of growth.

Yes, there are several factors that can influence, so while the news is good, we will have to see concretely how the price of Bitcoin evolves in the near future.

And yet miraculously there are millions going from Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines to the US and paying a high price for it, and a dozen doing the trip the opposite way.

That is clear, there are many things that I personally don't like about the USA, like the shootings or the opioid crisis, but we have to think that in spite of that it is the number 1 country where people want to emigrate. It has above all opportunities for those who emigrate there that outweigh these aspects. Not to mention that people who emigrate from countries like Venezuela, or El Salvador before Bukele, countries like that, are more likely to be shot and killed in their country than in the USA.
788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost of my capital has made me to have a change of mind about Bitcoin . on: November 04, 2023, 04:17:30 AM
As you have already been told, trading is an activity in which you have a high probability of losing your capital. Very high, despite what is promoted. And no matter if it's Bitcoin, stocks or commodities, it's the trading, not the Bitcoin, that has made you lose your money.

The first thing you should learn is what Bitcoin is, why it was created and what problems it solves, what its essential properties are, and so on.

Then you will see that it is best to invest for the long term, with DCA being an optimal strategy if you have little capital as for example BlackBoss_ recommends. But it's a slow and boring process and it's not going to make you a multimillionaire overnight by investing $100.

If you are loaded with reasons the best thing you can do is to stop being ironic and insulting, as I think you have already stopped doing in some cases, for example by stopping writing Ratimov, you will be much better off. It is a mistake I made in the past and looking at it from the fence the best thing you can do is to provide rational arguments, emotionally neutral, and let things fall under their own weight.
790  Economy / Reputation / Re: What's up with all the Bitget shills? on: November 03, 2023, 04:31:18 AM
I see they get paid with discord shitcoin, is that right? I have been looking for information to get the equivalence to dollars but I have not found it. There is a discord token that ceased to be traded on April 29th of this year.

On the other hand, I don't know if you think we should report them? Tagging them is not going to have any effect and in any case it should be with a neutral, I understand.
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner needs your advices in gambling. on: November 03, 2023, 04:21:20 AM
I’m a new member here, and I want to gamble on online casinos. I found some good trusted casinos. And I want to begin with a game with a low budget. First, I need your suggestions about the best games, slots. Live casino for a beginner.
Do you think Me starting gambling would effect me in my real life or make me addicted to gambling. What’s you suggestion and advices.

I recommend you to play poker or sports betting, playing slots you are going to lose money for sure in the long run, and as for getting addicted it depends on many factors but if you develop a kind of dependency and spend many hours you better be winning money than losing. Playing slots, as in general casino games, you will only lose and get into trouble.
792  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for November on: November 03, 2023, 04:00:21 AM
I voted for "I don't know" for lack of a more accurate choice that represents what I think. I think the price will tend to go slightly up in the month, but I don't think it will be exaggerated and I doubt if we will have a small dip in December. After so much time of bear market it is normal that people feel bullish at the slightest joy but if we see what happened in previous cycles the pre-halving months there is a rise, followed by a small fall to enter the bull run proper after the halving. History does not have to repeat itself but it is better to keep it in mind.
793  Economy / Economics / Re: Are You Sticking to Your Plan or Has Life Made You Pause or Modify It? on: November 03, 2023, 03:53:23 AM
But with that you can anticipate it with several things including doing good management.
1. Have a reserve fund.
2. Investing is not too aggressive, better as you can with ready to lose if in bitcoin.
3. Never borrow just for the sake of investing.

As it is, what the OP says looks like he has not included a good emergency fund in his plan so that he can draw on it when the going gets tough and not have to sell his Bitcoin. In my case, I have modified a bit the plans I had regarding Bitcoin over time but due to my financial evolution and knowledge, not because I have been forced to sell.
794  Economy / Economics / Re: US GDP growth beats WS estimates, grows at 4.9% , and this is good for Bitcoin on: November 03, 2023, 03:46:20 AM
Median wealth is up, expenditure is up, manufacturing is up, and of course, this is reflected in the GDP growth!
...
But overall:
Economic growth and enthusiasm mean one thing, people have more money to spend, people look at alternatives to invest and they have the means to do so, if you were in a recession nobody would have money to put in investments as everyone would be trying to save as much as possible so despite the US haters going screaming and banging their heads against the wall at the sigh of good news this is indeed good for BTC price!
People getting poorer won't do any good, you can't invest poverty!

From the looks of it, people on this board prefer to talk more about the apocalypse than good news, given the responses to the thread. The only question I have about your argument is how it's going to affect rate policies. If there is economic growth people will continue to spend and the momentary pause we have now in rate hikes may not last long and they will have to keep raising them. It's not a one factor thing but so far Bitcoin has done very well with 0 or very low rate policies. What has happened so far in recession is that central banks started printing to get out of recession and because of the Cantillon effect much of the printed money ended up in financial assets, such as Bitcoin. I'm also not saying that economic growth and high rates are bad for the price of Bitcoin but we will have to see how things evolve.
795  Economy / Economics / Re: World Debt Clock by nations. on: November 02, 2023, 04:36:59 AM
Quote
How quickly is the US national debt increasing?

In 1986, it took 1642 days to go from the 1st trillion in debt added to the 2nd trillion ~ 4.5 years.

In 2023, it took 92 days ~ 0.25 years. 🤯

That means debt is increasing 18x faster.

The money is broken. Go with Bitcoin

No, actually it's not as easy as taking 1642 and dividing it by 92, you also have to factor in compound interest for inflation. According to https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ the cumulative inflation would be 180% between those two years, and it is logical to think that they are based on official inflation data, so we can assume that the real inflation is even higher. Taking this into consideration we can safely assume that the debt is now increasing at least 6 times faster but not as much as 18x.
796  Economy / Speculation / Re: back in 2015 we had a nice pre 1/2 ing streak. on: November 02, 2023, 04:25:23 AM
we could easily surpass  500k by dec 2025.

With how long you've been doing this, I'm surprised you'd say that. Haven't we learned anything from what happened this cycle? Everyone was looking at stats and charts and predicting stratospheric prices for this very cycle, which have not come true. $150K was one low prediction for this cycle out of many, and look how that turned out. Dan Held was already predicting a maximum of $0.5M million for this cycle. We also had very sophisticated models such as the S2F model giving predictions that were astounding and when the price falsified the theory the author insisted on continuing to make a fool of himself by reformulating the theory instead of considering it false.

That said, I hope you are right or even short and we hit $2M per Bitcoin the next cycle. That would do me great.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another ETF's Ticker got Listed on DTCC on: November 02, 2023, 04:14:07 AM
It's going to be all bullish news now, as I have expected the Price to soon reach the $40k mark. The previous two weeks' candles are so freaking bullish and there is no way this trend gets stopped now. Also in 6 months, we are going to have another Bitcoin Halving so we all know what's about to happen. Happy for all of us who bought more instead of selling in November 2022.

Can't wait to hit my target price of $178k in November, 2025.

Yeah, well, never forget that there's life outside of the candles, you know? That said, I agree on the general reading, if we don't have any real life events that negatively affect the price, it looks like the next few months are going to be bullish, although a repeat of the regularity of past cycles would push the price up to $50K or $50-something at best before halving.

798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whales moved $230 Million to New Address on: November 02, 2023, 04:06:13 AM
Well, those people are already already rich, apart from the value of those Bitcoins, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to hold out for so long without selling even a part of them. I imagine that if they move them now it will be because they expect to sell with the expected price increase in the near future, no? I understand that this is the most likely scenario.
799  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: November 02, 2023, 04:01:42 AM
As far as I can see Ratimov, who last month was in DT2, has returned to DT1, with less strenght, as already commented.

Now let's talk also a bit about jokers10 and let's see why he is so vehement pro-Ratimov. BitcoinGirl.Club, are you ready?

Now what do we have here? So, first of all, Ratimov is main recipient of jokers10's sMerits. Then, not surprising at all, Ratimov is his no. 1 merit fan, with no less than 474 merits -- which means that he almost became Hero only with the merit showers from Ratimov.

After seeing these stats, it's understandable why jokers10 serves his Master with so much vehemence, right? I hope it's crystal clear now.

I don't see much strength in this argument. You are almost Legendary only with the merits that fillippone has given you and something similar happens with 1miau, besides they are the two favorite profiles of yours to send sMerit to. At a lower level, the same happens to me with LoyceV, thanks to whom I ranked up to Sr member.

Update: I picked some of your posts that were Merited by others and Merited those. The lazy way, but well deserved for you to be Sr. Member.

Leaving aside the issue of merit, I have a high regard for LoyceV, as I assume you do for the other two. So, if there were a reputation thread against them, I suppose in principle we would be more skeptical and require more evidence to turn against them. It's a normal thing. You could also apply that ironic tone to these cases, saying that fillippone and 1miau are your masters, just as mine would be LoyceV.
800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the irreversibility of Bitcoin transactions a downside for an average person? on: November 01, 2023, 05:29:07 AM
I don't think it's a problem in general. If you are attracted to Bitcoin for what it is and its properties, such as limiting supply and decentralization you have to put up with the irreversibility of transactions, whether you like it or not. These are the rules of the game, and seeing that Bitcoin is increasingly trending more as an investment vehicle than as a P2P currency I don't see the problem. Now when spot ETFs start to be approved people who want to invest and escape irreversibility will buy Bitcoin ETFs through their bank or broker, and when they want to spend they will first sell the ETF (or part of it) and spend with their card or CBDC afterwards.
