741  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 47 countries pledge to authorize Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework by 2027 on: November 16, 2023, 03:12:29 AM
The fact that countries collaborate to collect taxes seems legitimate to me, but what I see as bad about this is that it is one more step towards a total control of the population and a total absence of privacy. We keep seeing news in this section that are all aimed at the same thing, a mass surveillance. And I guess there will be no massive protests because this is being done little by little, like the frog that is slowly boiling.
742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is King on: November 15, 2023, 05:23:42 AM
Wow! How shocking! People on a Bitcoin forum saying that Bitcoin is king!

I would never have imagined it.  Huh

Seriously, I think it's relative. If we look at it as an asset, as something to invest in, then yes, it is king and has been king since its inception.

But on a day-to-day basis, it is cash that is king, even though it has a double side. The other side of the coin is that cash is trash because it is constantly being devalued. But the most liquid and universally accepted asset for transactions is cash, in that it is unparalleled, and that is why it also has a king side.
743  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull season started? on: November 15, 2023, 05:15:30 AM
What is on ground is just a trap that will make those that want to sell now to regret when the real bullish season appear in the market, I believe you can see that the price of Bitcoin has decreased to $35,431 yesterday and it is a sign that bullish season is not too far from holders.

It was actually a bit weird because the stock market was up a lot yesterday, not that they are necessarily coupled in every session but the inflation data cheered the markets, although in this case not Bitcoin. The point is to take the long view and not get discouraged by these little bumps in the road. We are at the beginning of a bullish period even if there are small stumbles.
744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gambling and Invest in gambling. on: November 15, 2023, 04:49:33 AM
So you plan on being a loan shark? This kind of business is a risky venture since you are dealing with two (2) risks here:
...
This may be a good idea in an ideal world but with all the risks involved, I think there are better options for you to consider than this kind of venture.

One of them would be to invest in casino bankrolls, always with reliable casinos. Or to buy casino stocks. That way you don't have to deal with the physical risk of going to collect in person from someone who hasn't paid you, which is more like a mafia job.

The idea is not bad, stop playing in EV-games to become an investor, with which you will potentially earn money, what is wrong is the approach, the "business" plan so to speak.
745  Economy / Economics / Re: House to consider stopgap funding measure today to avert government shutdown on: November 15, 2023, 04:41:55 AM
what do YOU guys think?  Shocked

Is this the kind of eternal drama where Democrats and Republicans play to the gallery by making it look like the world is going to end, only to come to an agreement at the last minute?

It sounds to me like we have the same story every year.

I find it pretty boring, actually.
746  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Opinion The IRS Is Making Crypto Compliance Impossible on: November 15, 2023, 04:34:18 AM
welcome to the USA where they don't want you to be in involving in anything. they want to treat cryptocurrencies like they do trading in the stock market which is a centralized exchange  Shocked

The same happens in Europe, in fact let me quote:

Everything I've seen come out of the EU in relation to bitcoin has been just as bad/stupid/misguided/idiotic as what our government in the US spits out. This kind of mass surveillance of bitcoin will only spread if we don't fight to put a stop to it.

El Salvador doesn't have an IRS? a money hungry orginazation trying to take back as much money from people as they can while at the same time limiting their freedoms?

They have a body equivalent to the IRS but people don't pay taxes for using Bitcoin as it is legal tender, or do you have to pay taxes for using dollars, calculating on every payment you make whether it has gone up or down?

but it's hard to imagine this new thing passing because if it does, it pretty much means buy and hold is the only way to avoid becoming a tax evader.

Not really. The solution is to use software, as I said, although I suppose that the reliable one for the administration will be centralized, or that they put a tax exempt minimum for payments/transactions below a threshold, but I see it unlikely given how things are developing.
747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market Chart November and December 2023!! on: November 14, 2023, 06:04:34 AM
I voted between $40k and $45k which I see is the second majority choice, with the first being a bit more bearish, between $40k and $42k. I guess after so long of bear market and half a year of sidelines people don't want to throw the bells out yet. Everything looks good, and therefore I think the trend is going to be upward in the coming months.
748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin OGs, Can We Please Practice What we Preach? on: November 14, 2023, 05:27:25 AM
I think he is a liar.

In the video he says so himself, that he is being accused of being a liar, a swindler, etc. Although it may be a strategy.

Or stupid as fuck. If you have only 25 btc and store it the way he did he deserves to lose out for being that stupid.

To not have five coins in five different accounts is an act of arrogance that deserves the punishment he got.

I completely agree, it's almost $1M at current prices. To have it all in the same basket and stored like that is retarded.

Or he is lying.

Although he sounds honest in the video, I don't rule it out, really. Some people have an art for deception.
749  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you work toward hodling bitcoin? on: November 14, 2023, 05:18:47 AM
The point is that whether your income is 100% fiat or 100% Bitcoin or a mix, you have to pay for living expenses and then you can save and invest. For me, investing in Bitcoin should be part of an overall wealth building plan in which you have a good emergency fund for contingencies (and that will prevent you from having to sell Bitcoin when there is a downturn in the market). Then, if you do things correctly you will be able to HODL Bitcoin over the long term.
750  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Opinion The IRS Is Making Crypto Compliance Impossible on: November 14, 2023, 04:55:45 AM
The thing is that the Bitcoin was not intended for that, to be calculating the equivalence with the fucking fiat every time you spend something and then calculate the difference with the acquisition price to calculate the potential tax. Another thing is how things have developed. But in El Salvador they don't have that problem, for example.

There are programs that automatically track all transactions, such as CoinLedger or Cointracking, so technically there is no problem.
751  Economy / Reputation / Re: How easy do you think it is to invest in trust feedback in order to swindle? on: November 13, 2023, 03:57:24 PM
How will the receipt address be hidden? I think it will leave a loophole to know the whereabouts of scammer, which is the last thing any scammer would want, especially since you may be asked to pic Collectibles after receiving them.

I can think of a P.O. Box that you can hire somewhere far from where you live. The sender will know the country where you live and probably the region, little else. There are countries where you don't even need to hire a P.O Box, you can receive anonymous shipments in certain places:

Personally, when I need to have something delivered from the forum, I choose a letterbox belonging to a third party, or I use an empty box in a building and put the name of my choice on it (in my country, postman's key-passes are legal to buy as an individual).
752  Economy / Reputation / Re: Forum Loan defaulters: What is the best way forward? on: November 13, 2023, 03:52:20 PM
No matter how much advice is given, in the end it is a personal decision to be made by the lender. If I remember correctly both Royse777 and DireWolfM14 stopped lending because some defaults left them in loss. In the end lending has a risk that the lender assumes, and if in the end it is not profitable or leaves them in losses, what they do is that they stop lending. And besides, they have devoted time and effort to running the lending business. I don't know if DarkStar_ has a special art for this, because it seems that I have been running a successful lending business for a long time.

753  Economy / Economics / Re: 2,000 Years of Economic History in One Chart on: November 13, 2023, 03:44:16 PM
Although I fundamentally agree with the great power measured in GDP that the USA has had in the 20th century, I am not entirely convinced by the chart. Like the previous comments, there are things that I do not see clearly, such as Italy having a higher GDP than Spain in the century following the discovery of America.
754  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dear Timelord2067, was it really necessary? on: November 13, 2023, 05:27:14 AM
Hey Royse777, I am with yahoo62278 on this.

I understand that you should not mind feedback from non-DT members. I guess in this case you might care a little bit because he has a history in the forum but I myself have him on ignore and I don't even stop to read the crap explanation he may have given to justify his feedback. In fact, reviewing my untrusted feedback I see that he left a garbage comment on a flag I created and that was massively supported by DTs. Don't pay any attention to him.
755  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: November 13, 2023, 05:12:46 AM
It's best to trust God and help those in need by lending money with 0 interest, when God says that he will return much more than you lend others back to you one way or the other, you just have to trust him enough, you know.

At some point God will have to understand that the interest charged is a function of risk. The interest charged by sashan serves to compensate people who, as in this case, defaults on a loan. I remember two cases of people who were lending and in the end they stopped because of defaults they ended up in losses. If they do not charge interest the losses would be greater, and God is not going to come to this life to compensate them for the money lost, in any case we will see what he does in the next life.
756  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: November 12, 2023, 01:37:08 AM
Also, the user was in a good campaign where the weekly payment was 100$. In the meantime, the user could repay the double amount. And the account can't be ruined.
I am surprised that the user returned 1050$ and the latter took 1000$. If the user was a defaulter then why return the previous loan? I can't get the answer to this.

I imagine that the default was not something premeditated but that he had some problem, that things went wrong and that is why he has not been able to return it. In his last message on the forum, he said:

Hi shasan,
due to some unexpected family issues, I'd like to ask for an extension for my current loan.
extension period: +15days
Repayment will be 1100$ instead of 1050$. I hope u understand and grant me this extension.
I would like to ask for second extension for this loan. I know it is already too long but my situation is not that good. I will pay with more interest on this extension and I hope you understand.
extension time: 1month (on or before 12th july)
repayment: 1250 usdt.

I have put in bold what I think may help to understand why he has defaulted.
757  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Using a Credit Card Demonstrate Financial Literacy? on: November 12, 2023, 01:32:14 AM
It is all relative. Debt can be good sometimes. When the interest rates are lower than the interest rates, it is a brilliant idea to borrow money because the prices will go up in value faster than the interest you are going to pay. As long as you know what you are doing cc or cash can be better in different situations. People go nuts when they hear the word “debt” but they don’t know how amazon become that big. They paid no taxes because they borrowed so much money and made investments. That’s a loophole in the taxing system which everyone can take advantage of. There are two kinds of debt: Good debt and bad debt. If you are borrowing money to build something productive, then it is good debt.
Is there similar loophole in taxes in every country? Probably not. I have also never seen inflation higher than interest rates on debts because in my country agreement gives banks right to increase interest rate if inflation significantly grows.

I don't know what happens in all the countries of the world, but in general, the legislation is similar. You don't pay taxes for taking a loan, otherwise nobody would do it.

As for the inflation issue, what happens is that the banks make a calculation. If you make a deposit they pay you less than inflation and if you ask for a loan they make you pay more than inflation. For these calculations they base themselves on recent history and on the rate policy forecast, but there are times when they cannot foresee a rise, as happened recently, when mortgages had been given at very low rates and because of the inflation crisis the central banks started to raise rates quickly. Then the borrower who borrowed at low interest rates came out ahead.
758  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: November 12, 2023, 01:24:57 AM
Fuck Sashan, I'm really sorry. 1,000 bucks plus interest must hurt, and you surely must make a lot of successful loans just to make up for that loss. I'm going to red tag him too and support the flag.

You have to see how people ruin an account. He had been on the forum for a long time and had managed many campaigns.
759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you use bitcoin when gambling? on: November 12, 2023, 01:13:26 AM
I mainly bet with fiat. But I have tried a few cryptocurrency casinos over time using only Bitcoin, although it was not the time of high fees as it is now. Had it been, I guess I simply wouldn't have bet at crypto casinos, period. The thing is that I play poker with fiat and in cryptocurrency casinos I have played casino games to try and see how they are, but it is not my thing, being EV-games.
760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sad reality: some countries gamble more than they can afford on: November 11, 2023, 03:54:11 AM
The OP could apply the same to poorer districts in rich countries:

UK’s most deprived areas have highest number of gambling outlets – report

People in poor neighborhoods are twice as likely to have gambling problems, study finds

So I don't think it's a problem of countries, it seems to be linked to socioeconomic status. In general wealthy people are aware that gambling is not a good way to earn money and on the other hand poor people tend to put more false hopes on it.
