28561  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Not-For-Profit Bitcoin Raffle on: May 27, 2013, 01:57:02 PM
a raffle indicates prizes in the form of objects/products. if the prize is a total sum of the inputted bitcoin, this is considered a lottery.

that being said there is no such thing as non-profit these days. its just a term used for business owners to class their wage as a business cost, leave no funds in reserve and avoid business tax because of the lack of funds left over in the business bank account.

bitcoin is not taxable. so using the term non-profit is a moot point.

a better term to use is "100% of bets/ticket value is the prize"
28562  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: SEPA/Banking Forum? on: May 27, 2013, 01:48:31 PM
For a highly resilient/sufficiently paranoid exchange system, the bank transfer must be carried out between buyers and sellers, rather than service providers and buyers/sellers, too many activities on a single account(personal or business) and you will be suspected.

basically in a nutshell if you want to buy bitcoin for investment legally using bank wire transfers then use a exchange that has all of the licences for AML KYC. if your a SR user wanting no paper trail, just requiring 1-2 bitcoins. search localbitcoins.

if there were no shady fiat exchanges, and every exchange followed regulations there would be no problems.

banks are not after bitcoin. they are just after risk free movement of their beloved FIAT that cannot be linked to a criminal act. so they need to account for every penny's movement through the electronic networks of fiat.

as long as the message gets across that is the main point. these forums are suppose to be a social form of communication not a legal written document that requires perfection. being a grammar nazi is not smart. its anti social.

i in business, write with the queens proper english, but when im on these forums i just write whatever is on my mind and get it on paper (forum post) as fast as i can.

i do business where i help people out financially and i have to admit when i see a real life business plan, i do check for spelling and grammar to see how much effort the client has put into the plan, to see how much he cares about the image he as a professional projects.

but when it comes to these forums i have given out investments to people with bad grammar, purely on the bases that their plan was sound enough.

this is my free time so being perfect does not mean anything especially when my real name is not franky1. its not harming my real life professional image.

i would say writing a business plan on here professionally with alot of thought, detail and time to prepare does earn you merit points. but certainly not a legal requirement.

more laughs about bitcoin.

even with fee's they arnt guaranteed into thenext available block. and the fee's a majority of the time dont reach the miners.. but instead its the mining pool owner that keep the fee's, along with his few percent payout of each worker. and his own mining rigs eating out a few chances of miners getting more shares.

the sooner people realise there is more profit in trading (retail profit of selling products) compared to mining the better.

there is too much emphsise that the only profit in bitcoin is in mining, which is then crippling miners profitability, to then require larger fee's just to get transactions through...

in reality it should be that
50% of people are business men opening bitcoin shops to sell useful products and services.
10% of people playing the markets.
30% of people using bitcoin to buy things.*
10% miners.

then no fee's would be required as the 25btc would be more then enough reward for miners and every transaction will be processed ASAP.

but in reality it IS:(guessing based on the 'feel' of the community)
5% bitcoin businessmen
45% playing the market
49% mining
1% buying things*

*(obviously everyone would be buying stuff, but i narrowed it down as outsiders that have no intention to run businesses or mine)

Why is it that when you get more than a few hippie liberals in a room together the conversation always turns into, "hey - let's make a commune."

<pic snipped>

I've not heard talk of a commune from hippies ('my people' historically) since I was a kid in the early 70's.

Libertarians [and/or juveniles] OTOH...there must be 50 threads about that on this forum.  Would you, could you, one a boat?  Would you, could you, with a goat?

It does get a little tedious reading about all the variants of communes started on this forum. I even consider the 20mission type thing a commune of sorts. I remember all the communes that were started when I was young failing miserably shortly after startup. My friends and I talked about making a commune in the 70's but we were broke so we just sat around getting high, fucking each other and watching H.R. Pufnstuf.

all you need is a garden shed/outbuilding/den for parties and sexual freedom, and a small patch of dirt to grow a few carrots to eat when you get hungry. that is considered a successful commune.
28566  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's Start a town on: May 27, 2013, 05:24:14 AM
and then moving away from the digging and permit requirements for your phase one. (requiring electric from the grid)

lets talk about water... hmm water from natural sources hey??

new mexico has been designated as a known drought zone... as of february 2013.. so um.. i guess more digging and water pipes connecting a water supply from neighbouring states will be required first of all untill a few winters and autums have passed to fill up the underground micro reservoirs that each eco house has...

the utopian town is a good idea.. but you are envisioning the final design of 25 years without understanding the basic requirements of years 0-24 of building a town.

like i said over 10 posts ago. you have no clue about the infrastructure needed but i bet a dollar that you have already doodled a flag for your cult/commune.

i did hint about pets when mentioning the manditory jobs required in the town such as doctors, nurses, police, vets

and lastly a TV station so thats another building.. so are you going to add another 3 acres to the land requirement or you going to reduce each persons 3 acre per family promise, down to 2 acres to fit in all of these community buildings
28567  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's Start a town on: May 27, 2013, 05:07:20 AM

video 16 - biodiesel & solar panels
firstly on the national grid for electric and utility.. hmm ok that costa a few million of build and digging. then making biodeisel, hmm my comments of video 14 covered that.. then move onto solar.
this guy needs to take a step back from the PC and realy check out the prices of digging underground laying down electric cable attaching it to the national grid, safely, having all the regulations covered and permissions from the electric company.. or a cheaper option just buy a tonne of solar panels... and skip the first step...ill add more to the solar panel idea, i got a feeling more ineptness about requirements for basic utilities to run a town will appear .

We will already be on the grid, so it won't cost that much. I already asked you to read, so you are now on ignore.

I will stop ignoring you when you stop ignoring me. (meaning "stop asking or arguing things that have been answered or solved")

your already on the national grid?Huh oh wait the magic fairys build power lines into the land you bought ....Huh no.. the reality is: "firstly on the national grid for electric and utility.. hmm ok that cost a a few million of build and digging." and permits etc

then you want to drop the national grid or be less reliant on it and use biodiesel.. then finally move onto solar....

like i said why waste cash at phase one of requiring national grid, why not just go straight to solar!!! oh wait you have the fairys that pay the national grid for the electric cabling at the start so theres no permit costs or construction costs lol

you sir wil need more then 600 acres for 200 people to have a fully functional town. you will need atleast 6000 acres for 1000 people. based purely on your utopian dreams. just to get a basic functioning town
28568  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's Start a town on: May 27, 2013, 04:59:29 AM
and there he goes again.. another tangent.. first of all travelling the world, designing an asic, then a town. then an island. and now a restaurant that will go national...

such a shame he only has 1 bitcoin and is promised 20mill of dev coins next month to his name....

and back to his last post about distillery.. so he will use national grid electricity to heat up the distillery to make biodiesel to then put into generators to then power the generators for use around the town...

again look at the cost of product vs the profit of output
28569  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's Start a town on: May 27, 2013, 04:54:40 AM
lets dig into more failings.

video 13 - bitcoin casino.
having a bricks and mortar casino in the state of new mexico is the same licence requirements as people playing with cylindrical shaped pieces of plastic.

video 14 - distillery.
hmm should i just do a facepalm or ask him what fuel he will use to create the heat to warm the water to eventually make alcohol to then fuel the cars.....
ill give him a few minutes to work out the fuel consumption required vs fuel production  output for his 'eco' car fuel...

video 15 -earthships
walls made out of 1 part coke cans, beer bottle or car tyres, 1 part concrete.. which have no physical benefit to making a house more stable or warmer/colder etc..
plus using cokecans tyres and beer bottles is not as eco friendly as just using concrete. but hey as long as you put one recycled coke can into a wall you can then deem is eco friendly because its one less coke can in your refuge bins, even if in reality its not doing much else. save the world 1 coke can at a time. Cheesy then you think about reality
earthquake, or just the pressure of the weight of concrete and start looking at the cokecans and bottles imploding. creating gaps in the walls. nice winter breeze whistling through the walls.

video 16 - biodiesel & solar panels
firstly on the national grid for electric and utility.. hmm ok that costa a few million of build and digging. then making biodeisel, hmm my comments of video 14 covered that.. then move onto solar.
this guy needs to take a step back from the PC and realy check out the prices of digging underground laying down electric cable attaching it to the national grid, safely, having all the regulations covered and permissions from the electric company.. or a cheaper option just buy a tonne of solar panels... and skip the first step...ill add more to the solar panel idea, i got a feeling more ineptness about requirements for basic utilities to run a town will appear .

video 17 - mushrooms and land size
ill ignore mushrooms.. proposal 600 acres, 200 residents. wow.. 3 acres per person.. so thats their home and farm land. but now wheres the police station, school, hosptial courthouse, library distillery going to go.. guess you need more then 600 acres of land to also have room for non personal land. but community land. and some people may not want community roads and parking build on their land.. not to mention the solar farms needed just to get town street lighting and business premises running.. so its not just solar panels on peoples own houses its solar farms to run the community/business stuff too

video 18 - voting.
nice idea but in 15 years when people start having kids and the majority of the population are under 20. it just takes one of the elected parties to act childish, be a comedian, promise the kids sweets and teenagers beer. and some ignorant dumb guy wins the election.. F&*k it around election time ill hire barney the bear and have a beerfest party the night before elections.. voters will love me.. then ill show you what having no voting restrictions results in.

video 19 - drug use friendly
need i say more.. well lets wait for video 20

video 20 - creative residents
i mentioned this in comments between video 1-13 some where back. constructon crew, farmers, alcohol producers, police, fire, nurses, doctors, teachers, and now you want creative business people on top... hmm i think your gonna need more then 200 homes...... second half of the video

and now i see why this guy is making videos like mad and has over 1880 posts in under a month..bruno mars said it best but here goes... he wanna be a devcoin millionaire so freakin bad...........

video 21 - freedoms.
so all the kids wil vote for free sweets, free transformers toys, 5 christmases a year. and that becomes the law. teenagers will vote to relax the sex laws and alcohol laws so the horny 13yos can get drunk and laid.. just wait for the rape and alcohol poisoning to begin,

im just waiting for the sudden request for donations.

so far this week finshaggy has asked for $10k per person to make a bitcoin town, which within 24 hours turns out he now wants a bitcoin island.

he also accepts money for a cancer charity. which in actual fact is a weed farm offering types of weed extract that can cure cancer

next is a world tour. followed by making asics..

wow
the even more funny part. just one month ago he didnt even know what mining was

My friend got a machine to start mining litecoins...

I'm just wondering what mining even is... What do you "do"?

with all of these projects trying to talk people into giving him money he has certainly managed to rake up 1800 posts in under a month..

oh i almost forgot.. he wanted to make a jersey shore type of TV show but based on people that know and use bitcoin..
i hope finshaggys project he proposes tomorrow is as a comedian.. because he has given many people many laughs. he might aswell get paid for one project he is good at.

Hey, at least he's not a nihilist. You gotta admit - Atlas was much worse.

well he does live in a commune and thinks that laws do't apply to him for him to do what he wants without knowing the implications.. his utopian town/island for instance. so although he isn't shouting "we are all in the matrix, nothing is real" he is close

In that regard, I see your point, but Atlas wasn't funny. This guy is a comedy shitstorm.

i agree, funny guy but i do feel sorry that he has been hammering his keyboard hard to type out 1880 messages in 1 month to appear as someone to be taken seriously and reputable.. but still as transparent as glass when it comes to seeing what his true intention for his 'projects' are,

maybe he is a atlas/pirate@40 love child... it would explain alot

28573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you couldnt buy or sell BTC, what would you do with them? on: May 27, 2013, 01:56:37 AM
if i couldnt buy bitcoin using fiat directly.

i would buy food or other daily essentials people need using my fiat and swap it for bitcoin localbitcoin style. maybe even set up a shop if i needed a regular supply of bitcoin

EG if i was to normally invest $£2000 a month into bitcoin. i would buy £$2000 worth of baked beans, meat, veg etc and sell them for bitcoin.

after all that is satoshi's initial dream.. it only came later that the fiat exchange centralisation of mtgox delayed the main purpose of bitcoin.

now people think of it as more of a gold stock instead of a tool for bartar.
28574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Liberty Reserve is now dead (Good News For Bitcoin ?) on: May 27, 2013, 01:15:44 AM
OMG no this is bad news for alternate e-currencies in general, I would say.

I was implementing the LR API for my future BTC business, now I think I wasted my time... Is OKPAY next? Is this why BTC exchanges have problem with OKPAY now (thinking BTC-e)?

No, this is definitely not good news, even if BTC is unaffected, they are going to put the pressure on exchanges and money intermediaries now.

maybe pressure needs to be put onto them.. after all

before now, bitcoin started up as zit faced inexperienced 'teentrepeuners' thinking the law didnt apply to them and they were kings of the world. atleast now we should start seeing experienced and well invested people doing a proper job, instead of trusting millions of dollars/coins in some 17yo kid that cries "i been hacked" purely to run off with the cash.

having people who invest their own money to get licences, are much more likely to stick with the project and secure it. and make sure it succeeds to get profit out of their investment.

we do NOT need any more teenagers buying a domain name for $10 and saying they can be trusted with millions of other peoples money.

you tell me honestly who would you trust more to look after your funds when you deposit in the morning and before you withdraw at night.... a well invested businessman with a team of employee's or some kid that just bought a domain name and done a bit of glossy looking coding
28575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Liberty Reserve is now dead (Good News For Bitcoin ?) on: May 27, 2013, 01:07:38 AM

Any idea how much money you are talking about? (that looks snarky, but isn't. I honestly don't know.) I like this idea, in principle.

how much money am i talking about.. well obviously 2%of the cost of just 1 exchange trying to cover every state of USA.. im not american, but lets say it cost Xmiillion for all of the licences to cover USA then a 50th (2%) is the average franchise price to get the licence for your state and be part of the same fiat network, where by you can then legally set up for instance
Texas bitcoin exchange if you live in texas
or
new york bitcoin exchange if you live in new york.
and then anyone from any state can interchange their bitcoins or fiat from one exchange to the other depending on what is the best price.

its just something a company like bitstamp or coinlab should/could think about.. to spread out its costs and increase its number of customer service support team, advertising campaigns locally, setting up more local other services.

they can even use each of the state offices as depots. much like amazon have transport depots where people can instead of using US postal services for legitimate products (non-silk road produce preferably) it can be used as a parcel depot for bitcoin businesses.

thus reducing the requirements of merchants needing to convert bitcoin into dollars purely to pay for postage.

there are many opportunities attached to it.
employees in each state office get paid in bitcoins. truck drivers moving between offices as part of the bitcoin postal service are paid in btcoin.
then the local state offices can each concentrate on getting brick and mortar fiat suppliers, manufacturers and retailers to take on bitcoin..

EG finding a local grocery store to accept bitcoin. and bam!! instandly offer food delivery fr bitcoin of all your baked beans bed meat and veg you want.
or the bitcoinstore able to have its own distribution network (using the franchises depots) around the US and not have to rely on amazons delivery network

the idea may seem like a stretch of the imagination. but i was just showing you a few stepping stones how one small idea can move onto more idea's and truely and legally kickstart bitcoins main-steaming
28576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Liberty Reserve is now dead (Good News For Bitcoin ?) on: May 27, 2013, 12:36:06 AM
All I can say is

Nothing but Bad News for Bitcoin  Cry

why bad?

its the governments shutting down places that exchange FIAt without FIAT licences.

so now there are less online stores accepting dollar because
1. paypal is scam country
2. paypal has blocked 60 countries from doing online shopping
3. many other places people use to store their fiat to us on fiat accepting webshops, cant buy stuff.

so what needs to be done is go to all of these webstores that accepted liberty reserve and paypal before they got dropped. and tell them to accept bitcoin direct and they will never lose funds/ have funds frozen.

then we might someday have proper legit and regulated fiat/bitcoin exchanges to ensure these websites can cash out.

european's seem to be safer due to cheap licences. so how do americans get cheap licences.

create a main exchange and franchise out 50 parts of their business to each state, where each state has a customer service point and even a cash in the mail address/physical office in that state and each of those franchises get a cut of profits from the exchange.

that way its 50 investors as oppose to just 1 investor trying to get regulated. and it will work because as a franchise/subsidiary/agent of the main company. the main company is covered.

the worse part. is finding 50 people willing to put in enough for one licence.. but then again it shouldn't be hard with the amount of people on these forums saying they all want to set up a US exchange to replace the ones that have disappeared. imagine it instead of 50 people independently buying 50 licences just for them, they share the licence fee's between them and get to open state based exchanges

Why is it that when you get more than a few hippie liberals in a room together the conversation always turns into, "hey - let's make a commune."

lol i know what you mean. finshaggy's posts in the other thread are hilarious.. one minute its a town, then a commune, then an island, then a seastead/boat. all for the utopian dream of $10,000 upfront lol lol

You act like all that stuff isn't in post #1 lol

And $10,000 just gets you the land. Please read before advertising for me Smiley
i know it just gets you the land...

emphasis on UPFRONT meaning expect more money to be begged out of people later on

Again, please read. The town will have methods of earning its own money Smiley
If anyone puts money down later it will be on projects of their choosing, not town projects.

it will take 2 years of buying land, digging holes to connect sewerage, utilities, then building the houses before anyone can even move in...

so out of the 200 supposed residents that pay $2mill total upfront just for the land. how many are going to be the construction crew, architects that will get paid to build them.

i hope your starting to see the dream of possibilities needs stepping stones of reality to reach them.. so stop floating off into the clouds of dreams and start on the ground..

EDIt: now you have video 12... saying that menial jobs are not needed, or no one needs to do real jobs.. mechanics and repairmen will be the biggest jobs.. lol

200 residents.. and majority will be in the robotics industry.. seriously write down on a piece of paper how many judges you need in the town, police, firemen, nurses, doctors, teachers, gardeners, mechanics, shop owners, construction workers, architects, now tell me how many houses you have left in your town..........

your dream is no where close to reality..

he no desires for a bitcoin only community, just like blueseed. they just want a drug allowed/ immigration free zone. but have no money themselves to fund it. so are leeching out their arms to every community they can, making promises that it will be a bitcoin project, as long as they get the cash.

i bet finshaggy is now on those penny per click advertising websites, trying to seek out wealthy advertisers to buy into his commune.. where eventually his library filled with books from a community full of story/novel writers, can then suddenly make brochures and banners/graphic design stuff..

oh wait.. he did actually say that.

a bitcoin commune/ a writers commune/an advertising publishers commune.. whats next.. oops i forgot .. back in video 1 a weed freezone.

with all these different industries, i have no clue where the doctors, nurses, teachers, laywers, architects, construction crew, farmers police, fire rescue, vets, will live, becasue a commune can only hold soo much....

i think its best to invest in the new hampshire state project.. atleast they are not asking for millions of dollars for just 200 beds,
28580  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's Start a town on: May 26, 2013, 09:01:08 PM
ok heres the last 9 pages in short.

48 hours ago you bought yourself some weed on silk road, and wondering about growing your own batch to sell.. so you start searching the forum for seeds.

you came across blue seed which is nothing to do with the plant. but instead about some guys for the last few years asking for money to start a off shore office and lving facilities for people that cant afford mainland visa's, not realising that they too want a mainly FIAT project but are willing to support bitcoin if they get enough investment.. and now your brain starts to hallucinate some brainfarts of how you can make money.

you do a small bit of wikipedia searches to try and make your brain fart sound a bit more plausible and now these last 12 hours you have been on an endless campaign to try convincing people that they can live a utopian lifestyle for just $10k upfront..

now heres my story.
im rich, i got money, i like idea's that have merits. i like idea's that have plans. i invest in these idea's. i do not like brainfarts of guys that show no proof of production, no final plan, because their plan keeps changing, no grasp of laws, politics or infrastructure needed for its success.

and i really hate that they can even attempt to put a price tag on it mystically out of thin air.

so give up trying to convince yourself that your idea is a success. stand back from the computer. take a breath of fresh air and put pen to paper to develop it into a working plan..

please for the 3rd time research new hampshire project before you even attempt to think about starting a town, learn what is involved before designing libraries and schools, housing and courthouses.

new hampshire have all of the "building infrastructure" yet they are not a free state or even a free town, after X number of years.

so dont put pricetags and timescales on things you dont understand.

i am not saying to give up, im saying it you want it to work to DO THE DAMN RESEARCH
