If this is true, then why would anyone drop out when it becomes unprofitable? And if nobody drops out when it becomes unprofitable, it won't become profitable again.
People will drop out because it takes more money to mine than to buy. Anyone who mines at a loss is insane. My prediction is that buying and operating a dedicated Bitcoin mining rig will tend toward slightly less than break-even in the long run because of competition against:
a) people who get electricity for free (college dorm dwellers, parents' basement dwellers) b) people who have high-end graphics cards for their own video game amusement, who also use them on the side for mining. These people only care about post-hardware-purchase profits, not pre-purchase profits.
correct. No these OCN kiddos are not insane. They will run at a loss because their mommy+daddy are paying for their gaming rigs and all that. Just see how many people give free cpu time to NSA botnets like F@H for FREE. If they get ANY btc they will mine just for ePeen and bragging rights. Only fools believe that "once mining becomes unprofitable, people will drop out causing difficulty to fall and mining to be profitable again" !!! Also only fools believe that "as difficulty rises the price rises" !!! The cat is already long out of the bag and mining will NOT be profitable any time soon and the price will fall because it only has risen to 7.26 due to extreme speculation. I expect it to level off near the price of making it ( electricity ) or about $0.25.

if you're an experienced overclocker you want to run both OSs - windows to set the card BIOS, and linux to run your miners. that said, 30 Gig HDD is a tad small.
oh - and Rule #1: accept no backorders. difficulty just goes up too damn quick.
HOW quick? quick. like every two weeks or thereabouts. it has recently tended to go up by 50 - 60 % every increase. Meaning your earnings decrease by 50 - 60 % each time difficulty increases !

Well its going to be pretty soon. Check out bitcoincharts.com

So I plan to provide a "Bitcoin mining rig" solution for them, with powerful video card ^_^, then PR.China government is going to pay my rig and electricity bills ^_^
I hope you're no in-country. Otherwise, good luck avoiding jail time and/or execution when the state discovers that you've compromised their information security for the purpose of minting subversive currency. Currency which is the brainchild of imperialist Japan. I would rather worry about what happens if they find out about this. They are not going to be happy comrades LOL !

This has 50 petaflops power.
More than 40 petaflops of whole Bitcoin network.
This could kill this network in a matter of seconds !
Nobody is invincible, including Bitcoin !

then PR.China government is going to pay my rig and electricity bills ^_^ LOL does not seem very well meaning to me. Making them pay for something they do not need ( Bitcoin mining rigs ) !? Not very communist of you comrade ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) !

Well it seems like electricity is cheap in China.
This ( "get rich quick" ) is not as simple as it sounds by the way.

Like I said Basiley, I'm not a fan of linux.
I'll just use the extra Vista Business OEM license I have.
then, its illegal copy. you can't "have"/deploy OEM/OEI licensed Windows, unless you OEM/OEI partner of MS or their client. starter edition cost from $40 and Basic - from $70. some people spend more for lunch/breakfast. LOL Microsoft are losing money with piracy = not good for them !

Really cannot see the point in this.
Just use Linux. No need for dummy VGA plugs and also no 4 GPU limit !

Every day I see these threads... People with no clue want to build a rig... Wasting huge amount of money... Not realizing the game has changed...
The game is now cheapest rig will win... Used to be just get it up and running... Profit margins were so big... Those times are gone forever...
If you invest $1000 in your rig... In a year you might make $200 profit... Cut your costs with $100... Profit will be up by 50%...
These threads only proves one thing... People are totally blinded... By the tempting thought of printing money... Because of this, in a couple weeks or so... Difficulty will be a milli++...
Go find FOUR HD radeon 5850's maybe Gigabyte or Sapphire and a MOTHERBOARD that will FIT THEM ALL - Dual Card Slot types and find a COMPUTER CASE that has 9 to 10 expansion slots to fit said video cards comeback and tell me the cost........ At least 20 benjamins ( $2000 ) !

I really think stuff like this... Should be banned from this forum... Or set up seperate room for begging... This is doing nothing good for anyone...
At least spend some time... Putting up a real prospect... With some real estimates... In fact it could work in dedicated room...
If you want to trust this guy to pay you back... Go ahead...
MAN you are my absolute hero !!! This ... thing is so damn funny thank you very much man ! I have had a good laugh from your postings. And the thing is : they all make 100% sense ! ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fl-userpic.livejournal.com%2F37406440%2F16821&t=663&c=ZEEFv5ZuN554aw)

Nope. And the point still stands, your post history quite clearly shows that you are trying to scare away people from getting more GPUs.
LOL haha what would the point of that be You should pay attention to what you post. A few days ago you say that GPUs are going to way of the dinosaurs and you are glad you never invested in them. Then a couple days later go on about how you put your 4 GPU cards up on ebay because they are going the way of dinosaurs. SO which is it? Wow seems like some of the new Bitcoin demographic include children too. I only bought 4 GPUs when I could have bothered and got 40 GPUs etc. That means I never bothered with GPUs because they are going the dino way. Custom ASIC and FPGA will be the only way to stay profitable once difficulty hits 1 000 000 !

Not joking. Insider knowledge They are planning custom mining card. Stop buying 5870s and wait for this around Q4 2011. No proof / numbers / prices because its under NDA. Get the salt shaker ready. And check his post history ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ArtForz, scared that your proprietary ASIC design you refuse to share with everyone on here will be unable to keep up to AMD/ATI mass produced cards

Off topic perhaps, but I'm wondering if ATI hasn't already built a mining farm of their own.
Lol they have ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Whaaaat? ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) Can you post some proof plz. Lol, I think he is joking. The funny thing is that they could just sell them off later as a retail "brand new" GPU. They are already testing every device carefully so why not test them with some bitcoin mining? I believe that would be insanely profitable for them. I mean, how many 6990's do you think they test every hour right now? The tests might be quick, expensive and advanced though... Not joking. Insider knowledge They are planning custom mining card. Stop buying 5870s and wait for this around Q4 2011. No proof / numbers / prices because its under NDA.

Has anyone actually done this and can you confirm if it is plausible ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif)

INVESTING is the best choice right now. Just buy bitcoins with as much cash as you have !

This thread just shows the problem with people that have NO IDEA how this works coming here just hoping to "get rich quick" through some scheme of sorts they heard about on slashdot etc.

LOL just ran it and it tells you to "protect your damn wallet.dat". Even if they stole mine I only have 0.02 BTC on there so good luck getting my money LOL.

BUY the bitcoins !
Mining is pretty much dead now.
