1901  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Count down to Iran invasion on: January 04, 2012, 05:21:59 PM
Can't wait for the war to start.

They got out of Iraq they need a new playground now.

All those weapons gotta be used somehow and somewhere. Afghanistan is not enough and more of a defiant gesture to the Soviets.

Iran is next on the plate. Something has got to get us out of this recession.

I am just praying that the Europe missile shield is working otherwise we will see another Big Bang in Europe ( London ). Gas masks are old skool. Bring the lead suits.

The British are just like puppies and do whatever the US says. US wants to invade Iran, British say "Yessir".

Those sanctions are not helping either.
1902  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Value question for 5770 on: January 04, 2012, 05:14:07 PM
Hey y'all, quick question... if/when I get the new 7970 that's coming out, I'll sell my 2 5770s to my coworker.  I'd like to ask a fair value w/out screwing him since we have to work together.  He's going to use them for gaming.  My initial thought is $150 for the pair plus I'll throw in the Crossfire Cable.

Is this too high, too low, or just about right?

If he doesn't buy them, I'll just put them in a spare machine for more mining.

IMHO right now the 7970s suck at mining. Only negligible performance improvements and sucks a ton of power compared to a 5870. Stick to the good old stuff Smiley

Just got home from a day of doc apts. I will check my inbox and get back to you shortly.

function blunt2tactful("

what recourse do investors have if you drop dead tomorrow? who can we contact?

");

Ive been thinking about that all night. In the event that I do not wake up some morning, I am arranging to have the hardware liquidated and everything taking care off. I have a few people here that will help with that and understand the buisness enough to handle an even like that.

How old are you ?

How likely is it that something bad will happen ?

Let us know more about your condition so we can be prepared etc.

Thanks !

Age: 27
Likely? Unknown untill I see the oncologist on the 11th.
Still dont know everything yet, but I am also a type 1 diabetic so that may complicate things a bit.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds pretty serious. Hopefully you can still manage the business and won't disappear with the $$$ like others before that got ran over by a bus, captured by hijackers in a plane, hacked by security analyst etc. and all those stories for children.

1905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking Merged Mining Pool (PPS, 35G/s, BTC, NMC, I0C and IXC) on: January 04, 2012, 04:45:31 PM
i found little bug on pool:
1. Did 0.67 BTC withdraw - finished with http 502 error. Pool web was unaccesible few minutes.
2. After few minutes web was accessable again. BTC balance was still 0.67 BTC, so did another BTC withdraw. Result was the same as before.
3. After few minutes web was accessable again and BTC balance was again 0.67 BTC.
4. So i looked into blockchain and found out that both 0.67 BTC transactions were sent - and later really arrived into my wallet.

DoubleC - i own you 1.34 BTC. Sent me address to send to.

Seems like a nice 51% double spend attack on the pool. LOL.

Any news for BFL Huh

I think I am going to need some Kleenex when a unit is actually delivered and we get to see what is under the hood Grin
1907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solidcoin 2 victory! on: January 03, 2012, 10:10:30 PM
Seems like the ScamRocket failed to take off. Original ScamCoin was at 0.03 prices now SC2 is at 0.003. What is next ? SuperScamCoin 3 with added KoolAid valued at 0.0003 Huh

Now that's REAL SOLID Grin

1908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a taxi today piad with VISA! on: January 03, 2012, 09:41:14 PM
This thread is full of so much failed mentality.

Almost every arguement Shocked you can make to a taxi driver about bitcoin, you can also make for literally every other digital payment method. Not only is it impractical to use bitcoins in a taxi (not microtransactions, not long distance), without using a payment processor to relieve him of the horrible risk of driving around all day with his bitcoins potentially fluctuating wildly in value by god only knows how much, he would be setting himself up to potentially lose money, and by using a payment processor of course he'd be paying a fee.

Where is the good arguement  Shocked here? Stop worrying so much about who is accepting bitcoin and start worrying about who has them.

Everyone thinks it's a chicken/egg problem,  but it's clearly not. The reason why taxi drivers don't accept bitcoin is because no one uses bitcoin.

I hope you are joking. BTC will go to $100 by Christmas easily this time around !!! It has millions billions of uses except Silk Road.

Everyone and their dog will be using it soon. Buy, buy, buy ASAP before the price rises again to $32. LOL.

It really is hopeful to see that some realise and see BTC as it is now : a speculation vehicle and not a feasible "Average Joe" currency in any shape or form any time soon.

Bitcoin : coming to a taxi driver near you. Next thing you know sex workers will also take BTC !

Guess it all adds up nicely just when I think somebody like BCX owns 250 000 of these coins and Satoshi ( which can be anybody, even a Columbian drug cartel owner ) has roughly 1.5 million.

I guess if people are buying 10 singles and hand them 5k the BFL Labs people might find a fool willing to buy the rig box as well for 25k. Then they can happily disappear like many others before.
1910  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Light bulb 5v PSU load - how much is enough? on: January 02, 2012, 08:10:31 PM
I don't have any extra fans ATM Grin. Hopefully my room will handle the cooling requirements.

Is the maths with the 10W 10 ohm resistors in parallel on the 5V line correct for a PSU like the Corsair AX1200 with a maximum of 30A ( or 150W ) on the 5V line ?

Thanks !

I think it is best to keep this thread on topic.

I can hardly await the first deliveries of the unicorn. Hopefully somebody pulls out the chips so we can see what is behind God's creation Grin.
1912  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5970 problems - seeking suggestions on: January 02, 2012, 01:56:56 PM
...  VRM temps?  (GPU-Z gives detailed VRM and other temp info)

Is there a Linux tool to show VRM temps?

Was wondering about this as well.
1913  Economy / Speculation / Re: $5.5 today!? on: January 02, 2012, 01:20:41 PM
Please start using D/M/Y, otherwise no one understand you

4/3/11 is 4 march or 3 april 2011? For me it's 4 march

I agree.

Let's stick to the European format. This forum is a bit too US centered. So much for promoting Bitcoin internationally.

1914  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who just sold? on: January 01, 2012, 10:47:34 PM
From $5.5 to $5.15 in a matter of minutes ... LOL.

So much for stability.

Surely $100. Remember the $100 by Christmas people Roll Eyes ?
1918  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Light bulb 5v PSU load - how much is enough? on: January 01, 2012, 04:30:24 PM
Think I have solved it now. Those two 10W 10 ohm resistors in parallel are pulling about 20W of heat etc.

Since the PSU is rated for max of 150W on the 5V line at 5A that 20W should be putting about 13% load on the 5V line so that should not stress the PSU etc.

Can anyone confirm this is the right procedure ?

Thanks !
1919  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Information on ATI 7xxx Series Dec. 5th! on: January 01, 2012, 04:27:50 PM
Uhh, Zed doesn't think so. Neither does Google Spreadsheets.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqP-aJPTwJFodEhkUC1ZU3JQVGp6QkpYUHZYTTNSanc

His bug is far worse than than the FDIV bug, that one was was pretty obscure. m3sSh3aD's brain bug produces far more and far greater errors and in each and every attempt at math.

He posted earlier his electricity costs £0.16 per KwH. to get to £110/month means £0.15/H. So he would be mining at barely over 1000W
Hes mining mostly on heavily overclocked and overvolted 69x0 cards.
To get 3 BTC per day, you need ~3.5GH. @1000W?

Show me a GPU mining rig that gets anywhere near 3.5MH/W.

I think you could do it with some serious underclocking and undervolting on the right hardware.   Maybe....

If I ever get bored I may try to see what is the highest MH/W possible using one of my 3x5970 rigs.  I think I could make 3.5MH/W.

Nice challenge. Hope you can find the time one day and show us if it is possible !

Will be good to see what is inside the unicorn.
