So now coblee is a mini version of RS Shocked

Sometimes I think that on this forum all the users are just one person Tongue, especially considering how much PR BCX gives SC.

Edit: yes this isn't SolidCoin 2.0 Cheesy no one should be dictating anything
Your not even going to take input from anyone about it?
Wouldn't hurt to get other input on the subject from the forum users (i.e. give it a day for people to respond)

I've been talking to a lot of people about this issue on IRC. At first, I wasn't going to do anything about it b/c the guy isn't totally malicious. He's actually donating coins to people. But it seems like he's not going to stop and the size of the chain is growing big. And since our fees are too low, he can keep doing this forever and it won't cost him much. So it makes sense to increase the fees to make it at least cost something to perform this DDoS spam attack.

Since I believe this change is pretty harmless, I didn't think we needed to have a long discussion about this. If you think 0.1 LTC is too little or too much or if you have another way to solve this problem, please post it. We can always put in a better fix later. But I think I need to act now to address this problem.

Too much fees. Why don't you like the spam ? Donating coins = win for me.

+1 Shades Minoco to absorb SIN

AND CAN WE PLEASE GET AN ASSETS LIST!?
Is it so hard?
You Tawsix keep avoiding this issue at all cost I wonder why...
SIN is over your argument of keeping the assets a secret is no longer valid!

Obivous scam is obvious. Saying he has $1000 of equipment but only claiming $500 etc.
2064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: November 17, 2011, 10:39:56 AM
This needs to be fixed. Probably some SC trolls.
2065  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Which is the best pool for mining? - A guide for choosing the right pool on: November 16, 2011, 10:00:18 PM
If I had 50GH/s I wouldn't.
Likewise if my electrical bill came once a year I wouldn't.

However I don't have 50GH/s and my electrical bill comes once a month.  As I state I could care less about hourly or daily or even weekly variance.  However I would like to get revenue each month to pay the electric bill.

There is no significant variance over a 30+ day period when using a pool.  A pool also has the advantage of merged mining, and ability to consolidate hashing power towards a single wallet.  If pools didn't exist I likely would use an internal pool for my rigs anyways.  Given the number of free, donation, or low cost pools I simply don't see the benefit of doing all that work myself.

I think one can also solo MM but I don't know the exact steps to get that working 100%.
2066  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 16, 2011, 07:56:51 PM
Excuse me for interrupting you guys, but now that we finally have a few people who seem to know a thing or two about FPGAs, care to share your thoughts on this Butterfly Lab product? Feasible, unfeasible, scam or not, fpga, not fpga, asic, hybrid something else?

True. I personally think it is just impossible considering other projects are getting so much lower performance for a similar price. But, I know nothing about FPGAs so Tongue. BFL prove me wrong and let Inaba there ASAP or else you are scammers and should be given the honorary "scammer" tag.
2067  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 16, 2011, 03:01:16 PM
This public display that they will be doing before or on the 25th. Will it be in Kansas City, in their apartment(Lab)? How soon after they do it will they send the test unit to Inaba as they said they would?

Is there any information about this other than the fact that they said they would do it in public on or before the 25th of November?

Also in the USA the 24th is a big Holiday (Thanksgiving) and the 25th is also a day off work for many.

Thanks.

I think they will do it in the restaurant. Free fajitas anyone Smiley ?

Still waiting to be DOXXED. BCX, are you going to deliver Roll Eyes. Thanks !

Let me take a guess, you live in London and will turn 22 in February...

Actually I don't care who you are  Grin Grin Grin

Why not ? Maybe because I am not on RS's payroll anymore Grin or why ?
2069  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Which is the best pool for mining? - A guide for choosing the right pool on: November 16, 2011, 12:55:36 AM
you don't have to, we have ppl around that can simulate any situation over a long period of time...

Simulations are one thing, real life data is quite another. I am disappointed by the (lack of) response from the PPLNS proponents/supporters, though. This test could potential prove their very important point that PPLNS reward method does not negatively impact the intermittent miner over the long run, compared to other methods.

No takers?

The simulations are really only suitable for illustrating a particular reward system, it is mathematics that establishes whether or not a reward system impacts intermittent miners.

A real data test will be difficult to perform for a number of reasons.  I fear all that could be gleaned from such a test is which pool "currently" performs the best and say nothing conclusive about future performance or about reward systems.

I really don't know why anyone would bother with anything but a PPS pool ...

Want to be cheated by operator, long rounds, pool hoppers, variance then please go ahead and worship deepbit / slush and other such botnetmasters of pools.
Firstly, you have only stated 3 reasons there not 4.
long rounds=variance
And in that case, as long as the pools luck - %fee is less than the PPS pools %fee you will be ahead.

So you are left with trusting the pool operator and hoping that hoppers are not taking more than a small % of the pools total (again less than the % difference charge between the pools) ...

Actually it is more like 1: Variance.

Pool hopping is a non issue as PPLNS, SMPPS, and double geo can't be hopped.

Trusting Pool operator never goes away.  A PPS pool operator can cheat by either running away with the money or "stale share shaving" (reporting some % of valid shares as stale to reduce payout).  If you don't trust your pool operator well you are fucked either way.

So that leaves variance.  Given the 5%-10% fee on most PPS pools I will gladly eat some variance to get 5% or more extra by not paying fees.  The hourly variance may be significant but I don't care how much I make per hour.  I care how much a make per month (when my powerbill comes).  Variance is a non-issue on a month long timeframe.

If someone thinks less daily variance is worth it then they should pay the extra fee but thinking they "got" anything other than reduced payout for reduced variance is just denial.

If variance is not important then why bother to mine in a pool at all Huh
2070  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 16, 2011, 12:25:24 AM
The standard post pre-order price of the Single is $599 for 1,050 mh/s (1.2 gh/s)

Totally missed this the first time.  Under what math system is 1050 MH = 1.2 GH?

Guys, I think we have cracked it !!! BFL Labs come from another planet. They have managed to break the laws of physics and achieve 100% efficiency and use a completely different system of computation far superior to ours which yields greater Mhash/s than we ever dreamed. That explains ALL the problems with the different company names and all that. Bring on the $$$, bring on the pre-orders, bring on the fools : I am sold Tongue ! Hope they can keep the assembly line hot, because I want to buy 599 units of the magical device.

It really is damn clear : until they let Inaba in ( under NDA or something ), nobody should pre-order unless they want to lose money to some scammers. Might as well donate that money to me instead for charity Smiley
2071  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 16, 2011, 12:13:52 AM
Ok so here is the email I received regarding info on the 54 GH/s box:

"The BitForce Rig Box product will cost about 80% of the per mh/s cost established with the pricing of the BitForce SHA256 Single.  The standard post pre-order price of the Single is $599 ( thought it was $500 LOL ) for 1,050 mh/s (1.2 gh/s), or roughly 60 cents per mh/s.  At 80%, the Rig Box comes in at roughly 50 cents per mh/s.  Although the technology is the same, clustering allows for additional efficiency opportunities which can't be realized in the stand alone single.TOTAL BS  Rig Boxes are about $25,000 The scam is not big enough for you BFL ? each with 54 gh/s performance.  They don't come in smaller flavors. Well obviously you do not want to scam for less - efficiency is king, even in scamming Smiley "

Take it as you will.

Don't know about you but this email above 99% convinces me this is a total scam.
2072  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 15, 2011, 08:49:36 PM
There is no market demand for that level of SHA-256 hashing outside of Bitcoin.  Think about it for a second.  Even a crappy CPU can perform tens of millions of hashes per second.    while SHA is used for things like keeping passwords secure even Google doesn't need the ability to process 1 billion logins every second.

6 of these boards could (well with enough bandwidth which they lack) validate a Google account login for every single human on the planet in less than 1 seconds.

SHA-256 has other uses (hashing for signatures, resource organization, etc) but likewise there are no applications (military, financial, or otherwise) that need 1 billion hashes per second.

Damn it. Dreams ... crushed. Then this looks to be a scam yet again. Unless they have found some FPGA which improves efficiency, hashrate and cost much over standard FPGAs on here. Or maybe they are using ASICs but much more optimized than GPU ASIC like 5970s etc. ?

Here is what Tawsix says on first post of this thread.

Quote
As of July 11, we've sold 2,029 shares, and sold the BTC raised for over $15,000.
Also
I certainly wouldn't be suing him over my two shares by myself, but shakaru invested several thousand dollars worth of BTC by the sound of it.  That's something large enough that it couldn't even be settled in small claims court.

Yes, definitely not small claims court, especially if given total amount invested.

A correction.  ANYTHING can be settled in small claims court you just accept the max judgement of small claims court as the limitation of the settlement.  Given depreciation and the lack of business skills one would imagine that net asset value of the company at liquidation would be far smaller than $15K.

Lastly if an investor filed suit as an indivudal (not representing other individuals) for breech of contract only the value of his "shares" (portion of contract) would be relevant.

Thank you! Finally someone who knows something that dosent start with "I dont have the facts to back this up..."

If this would turn into a legal battle, class action representation is the way to go.
Any word on when the SIN GLBSE account will be working? All the SDM ones have no issue. Even raising a motion. How is it that only SIN is affected when a vote is to be called that would blow this scam out of the water?

I really think we should file a suit and get his fat ass into jail. This guy scammed us all and the biggest mistake he did was thinking he could get away with it !!! This is not Nigeria boy, this is the US of A. People uphold the law or get screwed by big Bubba in the prison cell. I hope that is coming for you Mr Scammer. Soon Grin

2075  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1100 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS Merged Mining, LP, SSL, Instant Payout on: November 15, 2011, 08:39:45 PM
Very nice pool. Is there another pool with pure PPS and lower fees Roll Eyes ?
2076  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA development board "Icarus " for mining purpose - pre order information on: November 15, 2011, 08:39:15 PM
How is your board going to compete with BFL Labs ? Hopefully they are not scammers.
2077  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Mining Board: X6000/X6500 on: November 15, 2011, 08:38:45 PM
Cablesaurus is now accepting new orders, so if you missed the pre-order phase, you can get in on this batch now! We'll keep the $20/board discount open for a little bit longer. Still only accepting payment with BTC or Dwolla, though. We'll also be allowed to accept payment with Paypal soon!

It's possible these orders could get shipped a little bit later than the pre-orders, but everyone should get the boards around the same time. If there are any delays, we'll be shipping in the order that customers finished payment.

Completely new orders, use this link for the $560 total: http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=56

If you already paid the $50 deposit, use this link to pay the remaining $510: http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=46

Thanks!

Don't really know why anybody would buy this board when BFL Labs is coming out with their unicorn-dust made PCB that does 1 GH/s at $500 and 20W LOL !
2078  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 15, 2011, 08:32:55 PM
This ( only good for SHA256 algo when FPGA should be able to flash FW and make it good for all algos ) sounds like they are using some existing SHA256 processor and not expensive FPGA from Xilinx with crap performance and high wattage and high pricing. Maybe this is real indeed and those targets can be achieved with a processor designed to do only one thing and one thing only at the best of its ability : BTC mining. Anybody know of an existing CPU for SHA256 in particular ? Maybe they are using military technology Tongue
2079  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 15, 2011, 07:43:41 PM
*Awaits public demo that will change the face of BTC mining FOREVER*

Can your product also be used for things like :

-WPA and rainbow tables
-vanity BTC address generation
-integer dependent general custom computation ( e.g. is there any way to make those FPGA universally compatible with OpenCL and other code like GPUs are etc. so they can also be used to mine say SolidCoin not only Bitcoin etc. )

Thanks !
