2381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin Bundle : local namecoin + local proxy for firefox on: October 30, 2011, 02:33:26 PM
Aim of this bundle is to provide an all in one package that people can install to really use the decentralized part of the namecoin DNS system, instead on relying on external DNS or proxy servers.

How to use it :
- Unzip on the desktop (or where you want)
- Launch :
* linux : namecoinBundle.sh (on gnome, select : Launch in a terminal, must stay open, otherwise relaunch)
* windows : namecoin.bat, then nmcSocks.bat (both must stay open, otherwise relaunch)

If you don't have FoxyProxy in Firefox :
- Install FoxyProxy Standard in firefox (Open "Tools" → "Add-ons" and search for "Foxy Proxy Standard", install this extension and restart Firefox)
- Configure FoxyProx : Go to "Tools" → "Foxy Proxy Standard" → "Options", Open "File" → "Import Settings" and select the file "etc/FoxyProxy.xml"

Files :
http://dot-bit.org/files/NamecoinBundleLinux.7z
http://dot-bit.org/files/NamecoinBundleWindows.7z (tested on XP, does it work on win7 too ?)

More infos here :
http://dot-bit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=349

Hopefully this will raise the current sucky NMC price induced by MM and people that don't care about our current controllable DNS system.
2382  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [880 GH/s 0% fee SMPPS] ArsBitcoin mining pool! Come join us! on: October 30, 2011, 02:16:58 PM
I don't agree that it is a win win. When Slush's pool started merged mining I found I had problems that is why I came over here to mine. I also notice BTC mining seemed slower. Though those doing the merged mining did get the bonus of extra earnings the rest of us lost out. Also many others like myself left Slush's pool because of it which affects the over all speed of the pool. Slush'e pool at one time was over 2400GH/s now it is down to 1200GH/s half what it was. Yes not all of that is due to him going merged but it is an added factor.

Please explain. Merged mining should only bring more users not less. Only explanation I can think of is people switching off their rigs because this is far from being profitable right now even with MM.
2383  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [360 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 30, 2011, 02:15:11 PM
stop selling your nmc so cheap guys! Luke-Jr you single handily are driving down the price of nmc ,,, lol - I refuse to sell mine less that 0.02 - i will wait and I suggest you guys do the same, dont worry the price will go back up

Sad to see NMC slip like this and become just another toy.

If they did not implement merged mining = anyone like BCX could attack the network and 51% it etc.
If they did implement merged mining = price will crash like no other.

RIP NMC.

Luke why did you not consider the option on your forum that said "Yes and no-- I want you to sell them for me and send me more Bitcoins" ? Same thing as the first option ( "Yes, and I'm willing to do the work necessary to get them! " ) but more automated which makes it easier for your users. Thank you !

Care to explain how you managed 100 new users in 30min on a thread with 30 views, and also why is your address a restaurant?

Valid concerns. This does not smell very good IMHO. Be careful !

As soon as this pool gets merged mining, I will make it my primary.  Until then, I have it set as my first failover.
+1

This pool with merged mining is pure WIN !
2389  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1200 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); LP & Ntime, NMC Merged mining on: October 30, 2011, 11:11:35 AM
Is the France migration finished now ? Thanks.
2390  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1200 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); LP & Ntime, NMC Merged mining on: October 29, 2011, 11:05:22 PM
I notice the number is dropping, as people give up.

Um, no. I cut off ~100GHash by moving webserver (mining.bitcoin.cz) from London to France, then I realized a lot of people has been mining on this URL and setup HTTP proxy here, so this hashrate is back. Unfortunately miners using URL mining.bitcoin.cz  are routed thru France server, so their mining experience may be a little... crappy.

Except this issue there wasn't any downtime on pool today, so those two long rounds are just really bad luck. There's no reason to think that anything is wrong, I'm keeping my eyes on pool all day.

So if my physical location is London which is the best URL or IP to be using ( api or api2 or something else ) ? It seems ATM I am not supposed to use an IP or mining.bitcoin.cz right ?

Thank you.
2391  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [230 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: October 29, 2011, 07:37:31 AM
don't know how to register to your pool. yet im stuck at bitcoin signature  Cry. need help  Huh

you dont need to register at all you just put your wallet address in as your username
for example if you are doing a command line mining program it would look something like this

Lets pretend your wallet address is 1JVi8s2x8XM3B7giutjjjSogBd1UShz9eS
at the command line put
c:\miner.exe -o http://mining.eligius.st:8332 -u 1JVi8s2x8XM3B7giutjjjSogBd1UShz9eS -p pass

the wallet address you want your reward sent to - thats your username - password is unimportant you can put anything you want there it does not matter

Make sure you replace 1JVi8s2x8XM3B7giutjjjSogBd1UShz9eS with your actual wallet address

Now go download Namecoind for windows

follow this very good tutorial on how to install namecoind make sure you follow the windows instructions

http://dot-bit.org/InstallAndConfigureNamecoin

After you have that up and working and you have your Namecoind wallet address save that

Now go to http://eligius.st/~artefact2/5/1JVi8s2x8XM3B7giutjjjSogBd1UShz9eS

but replace 1JVi8s2x8XM3B7giutjjjSogBd1UShz9eS with your actual Bitcoin wallet address
this is your stats page for mining at eligius

you will see at the top

Merged Mining Namecoins

If you would like to get Namecoins in addition to Bitcoins, please click here to register your NMC address.

click "click here"

you will put in your Bitcoin wallet address and the Namecoin wallet address you got a few mins ago, this will also lead you through how to download Bitcoin 0.5 windows binary and make your signature

Good Luck!

Thank you for this cablepair. I find documentation is a bit lacking or hard to find otherwise. Anybody know when Luke is back to pay out people ?
2392  Economy / Economics / Re: What are 10,000 BTC worth? on: October 28, 2011, 01:13:31 PM
Bitcoin is a step toward RBE. You may not see it because it has transcendent properties. Wait for it.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is RBE besides Radeon Bios Editor ? Thanks.
2393  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any way to discuss Bitcoins in the Mirc channels using a web service? on: October 28, 2011, 12:49:37 PM
Try webchat.freenode.net and specify the channel when you login eg #bitcoin.

2395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to NameCoin?! Since Protect IP Act is coming?! on: October 14, 2011, 05:29:20 AM
What or who is a smoothie?  I know I have seen that named mentioned before, but I honestly have no clue who he or she is off the top of my head and I prefer not to search until after I make the post, I like testing my memory.

Edit:  I only kind of remember smoothie https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=25960;sa=showPosts    I'm guessing just started using a different user name at that point.

Also, what happened to OldMiner, did that person end up being another user or did these forums just annoy him too much?

SolidCoin comment was a joke.

The NameCoin profit thing, I wish I could find a specific link, but I swear I hear that echoed around when I see NameCoin mentioned.  Not that it couldn't function as a currency, but it wasn't the initial intention, of course the word "Coin" is in the name, but still.  If this is true, I wonder what the pros and cons of taking something established and making a currency around it.

They are claiming all of these people are me LOL. Nice one !
