Hate to see leechers who think "cheating" is answer. If you care you share.. i hope your account will be burned if some admin or mods friend buy account from you Smiley

Exactly. If you leech then we don't want you !

Hmm seems to be a lot of stalls on namecoin side for me.

What do you mean by stalls?  You miner shouldn't be able to see anything about the namecoin side.  Are you using cgminer?

He's seeing Valid BTC (Invalid BTC), Valid NMC (Invalid NMC) on my stats page.  I'm betting cgminer as well, I'm running it and just as you said, it's ignoring longpolls for the NMC side and submitting partial-stales (valid BTC, stale NMC).

The fix for this is in cgminer's git, but ckolivas hasn't packaged it yet.

WOW is there really a fix for this too. Nice work developers ! I thought this was something that could not be fixed and just a consequence of MM. You either prioritise BTC or NMC etc. not both use LP Huh

2204  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); Pool back in action! on: November 09, 2011, 07:26:01 PM
A mining pool considering offering silver as a payout method?  Let me know if you need a North American supplier/distributor slush.

Seeing that pricewiese, bitcoinmint.US and I am not that far apart, I am even able to beat him for coins in quantities >3 (thats without insurance, however)

I offer shipping discounts for multiple item orders but I have to be contacted directly due to bit-pay not yet supporting this feature.  Wink

So is the plan for gold "mining" still on ? I think it will decrease BTC value.
2205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: namecoin are low, why? on: November 09, 2011, 07:24:30 PM
The price of NMC is not as important as the security of NMC.

Remember NMC wasn't designed to be a currency.  People who want to register domains can use NMC to do so.  The price point isn't material however without MM NMC would be very vulnerable to a 51% attack.

Yes but I still think a low NMC value is not very good for miners relying on MM to boost profits Smiley

Mineral oil cooling for bitcoin. Anyone try it ?

I'm not sure anyone's actually taken the leap, but it's been talked about a few times.

The general consensus is that it's not worth destroying your cards for the ePeen factor.  Once you dunk them in mineral oil you're certainly not going to be able to resell them, your warranties are null and void, and they become rather difficult to clean up and use outside the mineral oil bath.

There's no reason it wouldn't work, but the downsides tend to steer people away.

Well would they corrode or something if wash them with water and let them dry Tongue ?

Looks like I need to start looking for a new home for my 32 GH/s... =(
Don't you agree that someone who is complaining about this without donating anything is very similar to an a..hole?

To be fair, if the pool does not require a fee and he does not want to contribute, that is well within reasonable norms. IMHO, I don't think we should hijack the thread to start calling people out or using masked profanity.

P.S. I am #2 on the donors list and haven't mined at the pool for a couple weeks now.

Where do you mine at then ? Thanks.
2208  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 09, 2011, 07:21:53 PM
FPGA is used exclusively with the actual costs of the boards being designed somewhat equivalent. Mhash's are about a quarter of the Butterfly labs card though but wattage is similar, they do say they use a combination of ASIC and FPGA.

The wattage is not "similar".  Other FPGA designs are getting about 20MH/W not 50MH/W. 250% improvement in electrical efficiency is massive.

Versus ~1000 Watts for GPU.

He probably has seen the 7xxx series flop just like Bulldozer Smiley

Starting to regret AMD took over ATI Sad

I am interested in this, but I do not understand why the dead line to bet is Jan 1st. Why would anyone place a bet before Dec 31st just in case some new info comes out?

Because its time weighted. Early bets weigh much more than late bets.

Quote
Also, if I put in lets say 1000 bitcoins, I will only win 5 or so?   (assuming no on bets heavy the other way)

Of course the assumption is wrong. If you bet 1000 bitcoins, I and others will bet against that, even people who might be skeptical. The final ratio is a good indication of what people actually expect.  So why dont you start with 100 BTC, heck, just 10BTC and see what happens?

I do not really like the idea of putting money down and not knowing what I will get back if I win. There is no way to know until after. Also only 90% of the losing bets are distributed.

I will stand with my original offer of a bet with Inaba holding the coin and testing the product. I will also give Butterfly Labs 2 to 1 odds just for the fun of it:)

Heck for the first 10 bitcoins I will give anyone 2 to 1 odds with Inaba holding the coin and him testing the product. He will have to get it before 2 months from this date (he can take longer to test it, but no more than an extra month) and also the product must be sold at the stated price. and have a 20% variance on what is claimed.   If anyone is interested let me know!

Price is not an issue right now. I just cannot see how anyone can get 500 mhash/s out of a single ASIC or FPGA. Not even the 5870 gets that much. The numbers are all a big fairy tale.

Naysayers put your money where your mouth is.  Bets so far are clearly in favor of BFL not only being legit, but even going to live up to all its claims and in time. Stop saying you are sure its a scam unless you put some coins on it:

NMC price at 0.008 now. MM sure is helping.
2215  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); Pool back in action! on: November 09, 2011, 10:36:12 AM
Regarding the value of PPS and pools, I'd like to say that Slush's pool is better than solo-mining.

Sometime within the last 24 hours, I found my first block on Slush's pool.  My payout thus far is 50.06, and I have a confirmed+uncomfirmed total of just above .52.

That puts my payout/block at somewhere larger than the average block+fee payout.

And, I've paid Slush for the pool; plus spent/cashed in some of my bitcoins long before I found the block.

If I'd been solo mining all this time, I've have shut down long ago.

I'm not trying to fan the flames, but I did want to add my thanks to Slush for the pool and the effort.

Solo mining induces more variance but less fees.

I need help,

My HD is corrupted. The wallet i have backed up was from Nov 4th.

Can i still receive the coins from Nov 4?

As long as you generate the receiving address before Nov 4,
I think your coins will not be lost.

Open your wallet and see the private keys for the address you mined with etc.
2217  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1291 GH] BTC Guild - Pure PPS, LP, SSL, Instant Payout, No Invalid Blocks on: November 09, 2011, 10:23:52 AM
I have a test server up for merged mining for anybody interested.  It is using the old user/worker database from before the move to PPS, so new users/workers will not be recognized.

You can mine on the test server by using 188.40.44.150:8332/ as the address in your miner.  Workers made before the move to PPS will be able to access it.

This test server is not currently linked to the primary pool.  You can get a brief stats summary by going to http://188.40.44.150 .  If your User ID is listed more than once, it means either you are mining with multiple workers, or the difficulty on BTC/NMC has changed.  All valid BTC shares will be synchronized to the main server on Thursday, November 10th.  NMC shares may take slightly longer to be merged, but will be merged in once NMC mining is live on the primary pool.

This should go without saying:  Mining on the test pool should be done at your own risk.  I cannot guarantee stability.  However, if you take the risk, you'll be earning namecoins (though the ability to withdraw them will be delayed til sometime this weekend), as well as BTC at the normal PPS pool rate.

Nice ! Can't wait till all is finalized.

For a PCI expansion chassis with 13 connections over 2mil dollars ... we have a problem, we would have to design ourselves all hardware including PCI.

Another solution I can think of is to design an FPGA circuit that is powered by USB, one PC card for pci usb expansion could feed many circuits with multiple FPGAs

This is a quick sketch

Don't quite understand what you are saying. Why not just use USB FPGAs and USB hubs etc. I though bitcoin mining is supposed to be "ghetto".
2219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Merged mining for Ixcoin on: November 09, 2011, 10:17:47 AM
Funny how people like BCX are holding onto a lot of IXC and I0C and want to restart the scam so they get more suckers and take their USD.

But hey, I guess someone has got to compete with King RealScam's chain right ? I mean it is a free market around here not a monopoly Grin

you are free to mine ixc and i0c too, why not drop btc and mine real coin.  It is an ixc world and you are in it.

LOL. What ?

Yeah, this is why I am so shocked that people think this can work out. The are stated outputs that are off the wall.
Assuming this is not just an outright scam this guy is off somewhere with his math.

If this guy can deliver he will be a multimillionaire within a year as this new technology could be used in a number of fields. This guy also would odds are be hired by IBM, the NSA or something like that.

I do not think people understand how revolutionary this product would be if it works and costs as stated.

I am willing to put my money where my mouth is unlike BF Labs.

How do you know they are not already working for the CIA ? Grin

This is just impossible IMHO. To get 1 GH/s with just 2 ASICs or FPGAs or whatever is just too damn improbable right now. Not even a damn 6990 gets that with 2 GPUs on it etc. Keep dreaming BFL. IMHO if anyone buys into this scam then they damn right deserve to be scammed like there is no tomorrow. $50 000 easy money for you BFL ? What will happen with this capital if your project fails and you realise you used up all the money on a prototype that does not work in the end ? Hey, I am not saying that this is a scam but anything can happen right ?
