Yup. My post was mostly satirical.

if i recieve a 25 mh/s miner im going to be upset

Well, 25mh > 0mh. Lol.

Seriously though, they're coming down to the wire. 2ish weeks to start shipping. This sure is a nail-biter. Unlike last time, though, they're providing frequent updates, showing lots of pics of things being tested and assembled, and they've showcased their inventory of raw materials and parts ...

Can we all agree then, if no units ship at the end of the month, this is once and for all just vaporware?

Taking bets on what the next excuse will be that pushes the date forward.

"Today, Alpha Tec blamed gravity for keeping them down, unable to ship until 1st Quarter 2018".
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypto Rush - Crypto to Crypto exchange on: September 08, 2014, 06:20:14 PM
The ONLY thing that will make anyone use CryptoRush again is if you guys commit FULLY to paying back all the money you owe. Until then you can forget any hope of re branding or re launching or any of that bullshit.

Shoot, even then I would likely never use it again. Unfortunately.

Not that I heard of.. but if you do, make sure to post your info for everyone's benefit.

KNC Titan still on schedule for Q3 shipping. My original (Dec13) prediction was August for early shipping, September for likely delivery--and it looks like this will happen.

Their chips are in hand and they're working them up in BFGMiner. This is the very last step prior to assembly and shipping. This is as of last week. As mentioned before, well-done workups and spec tests can take up to a week. Their 'simulation and thermal tests' were done back in June.

AT was doing simulation and thermal tests last week. Think about that. Either AT isn't shipping this month, or they've been smudging the story the whole time, knowing they'd ship in Sep/Oct.

Well, this is nothing new really.. but thought I'd pass the update along.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: September 08, 2014, 05:40:53 PM

All I can read from the blog post is again the same story ...where is the actual working miner displaying hashrate and power consumption ?

There is no miner, there's no official stats. It's still going through tapeout.

They have less than 2 weeks to begin assembly and shipping. Only 2 months late, what's the rush now right folks?
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: September 05, 2014, 05:48:12 PM
johny08 : its basicly exactly the same, except there is no screen, no PSU,no wifi, no fancy brushed steel enclusure....

-_-

cardboard enclosure anyone.

And it's still hashing faster than the Viper.

We are still trying to beat our current power estimates and will be making sure our devices are as efficient as possible in this regard

How the hell do you do this if the ASIC has already taped out ?

Well it appeared he's talking about running simulations to determine specs, so I'm betting they're running mining algorithms against the virtual chip and seeing what they can do to pre-tune it. This is SOP, but typically not something you keep doing if you're expecting your chips to arrive any day--but you could do it. Just seems like a waste to me unless they didn't run enough simulations prior. KNC, for example, would do this before completing the design, and then after once the chips were being packaged, as a double-check.

Of course, if they needed to re-check everything because they went with a completely different design at the last minute, it would make more sense...

...Or, if they're continually making last-minute changes to the support hardware and need to know what to expect...

...snip...

Seriously, that image had me rolling.

i was really worried about the sticker, so glad they showed us the final drawing. Like anyone gives a rat's ass what the sticker on the chip is going to look like. How about some pictures of the chips? And the magic wand you're going to wave to magically make this all ship in a couple of weeks, LOL!

I want to know why they are putting stickers on chips and not etching? If rather see a heat sink on that garbage. I mean won't a sticker keep heat from dissipating?

The chips don't really belong to them, that's why the stickers. If it were thier own custom made chips how freaking hard would it be to have them laser'd at the factory.

My thought as well..

Lol. I just got banned (again) for posting KNC have their chips on the Alpha forum. I guess they don't what their few remaining suckers customers to know how screwed they really are.

Well done! Another situation where reason and transparency is trumped by the fist of tyranny.

Are you seriously expecting us to believe it's that hard to make the necessary links between new and old and to automate re-reimbursement for non affected coins?  I have worked in IT for 29 years, I own and run an IT Consultancy and to a man, every employee I have could single-handedly turn around the necessary solution within a day, if they couldn't they wouldn't be working for me.  If your team is incapable of doing this after four months without a bug arising every time you have a window then I would seriously question their ability to code a secure platform for trading.  Good luck with your new endeavour, you're going to need it.

Brought this same point up several times in the past.

"This is in response to the debt recovery letter sent to us dated 10 August

That entire response is mostly a lie based on illegal stuff. Until they can actually be taken into court and establish (in the legal system's eyes) that they have done wrong, they'll keep getting away with lying to companies about this.

But alpha is doomed even with a product ...GAWminers just announced FREE hashing to the people who purchased their Vaultbreakers (6995) 750mh and the smaller
don't know the price 350mh ..while not available as equipment to them yet FREE hashing either temp (till equip shipped prob in a month) or perm xfer to their
virtual hashing farm FOR THE WHOLE BATCH considering that it is likely imho that the GAWminer's Vaultbreaker (before they sold out) was as large at least as
the kNC Titan batch 1 that is likely to arrive at your door in 6 weeks ...well even if alpha got something out it would be way too little way to late

as a Titan purchaser I be screwed ...so expect a big big splash in that folks who ordered the above now have option to hash as soon as they can email
gawminers

Sounds to me like they think they may be late if they're trying to push virtual hashrate out the door just to say they 'did it'. I've also been wondering why they're so uppity about beating KNC to the ground, unless a lot of it is hype to generate more sales based on how most people make buying choices using emotion. I've liked how GAW has been producing gear lately, but this particular push falls out of their normal operation pattern.

whatever if you got a Vaultminer you are very happy today. As to KNC's reply to all this trash talk by Gawminer's ..nada zip...zilch they have our $$
no refund...and KNC used to be such a good company

I would wager it's because KNC doesn't care to respond and play the "beat my chest harder than the other monkey" game.

How is it dead, if it is on a dedicated seed node, an active blockchain and is still being mined?

I suppose this is a situation of defining terms.

"Alive, as in there is some level of technical functionality within the blockchain" - this is true for this coin.

However:

"Alive, as in has a purpose, a team which is developing it, has tangible value through a product, wasn't abandoned by its creator who holds IPO still" - then it is not true for this coin.

The latter applies to this coin.
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: August 25, 2014, 04:22:03 PM
i need that machine next month.

no more delays

no more excuses

4 weeks and 1 day until the magic fairy deadline. (didn't they say mid-september though?)

Reversing the numbers:

Figure 2 weeks for assembly, workup Q&A and completion of batch shipping; 1 week for testing final chips and power systems, based on how other places have been operating.

Their last noticeable update was that they had almost finished case design, almost finished the supplimentary and accessory PCB's, and none of the software was ready. Lots of almosts there. I almost won the lottery last week.

They have, what, 1,200 or 2,500 systems for first batch? Initially they opened it up to 1,200 iirc, but then opened it up for more funding sales and left it open for a month.

So:

At 15 minutes per machine to assemble and test basic operation to warm temps, 4 machines an hour, 40 machines in a 10 hour work day for 1 person with no breaks. 20 business days * 40 = 800 machines. So a workforce of 2-3 would suffice to cover the assembly, testing and shipping.

This all hinges on the following items being ready and in their hands within the next 7 days:

* Shipping material, label printer
* Completed chips
* Final cases
* Final PCB's for everything
* All wires / tidbits
* PSU's

Perhaps they already have most of that, and most of it is assembled! Tick-tock goes that clock..

Are they pre-paying customs fees? I can't recall. That'll add a nice chunk of money to people's bills.

Why do people waste electricity to mine this stuff? I can't believe people keep kicking corpses down the road.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 19, 2014, 03:45:27 PM
Not for me Smiley

So you bring in more bitcoin per dollar spent, including the cost of mining equipment and electricity, than you would if you just used the same money to purchase directly?

Fascinating.
Yeah because my equipment has ROI'd already and all I need to do is cover electric. Sorry if you had bad timing when building your farm.

No qualms here friend, I ROI'd last year. The context was for folks just now purchasing equipment, not someone who has already ROI'd--kindof moot to bring that into the discussion.

as long as I got a miner and it is keep working and not make me trouble and too much electric bill

Electricity bill is almost a big problem as initial cost of equipment.   Depends on how fast you receive item.

Almost as if buying BTC would've been better.
It almost is like buying BTC, instead of giving your fiat to an exchange for BTC you give it to the electric company for BTC.

This is true, and for a much worse exchange rate.
