Indeed. I sold a little in the upper 50's to pay for some projects but why sell otherwise? I mean do you really want a big stack of fiat cluttering up your room, losing value by the day? Blah....

do we have more deep info about s7 boards? overclock underclock repair and part spares ?

Well, sort of, but if I might ask, why? Are S7's now profitable, if so I have one in the junk pile here I should fire up or sell. S9's are, and of course Titans are very profitable but S7's?

Damn, missed the 50% off sale on Bitcoin today. I really should set up an exchange account....

General Von Clausewitz wrote in his famous book "Vom Kriege" ("On War") something like this.
If two parties go to war, the only way to get a lasting peace is for one of the parties to win a victory so overwhelming that the looser will not try to retaliate in a new war.
That's what the allied did with Germany, and the USA did with Japan.
I think that is what is eventually going to happen in this conflict too.

*sigh* Pretty much. The US civil war is an example of what happens when the loser is given honorable terms and troops removed quickly. Result: Century of "lost cause" baloney.

We'll see.

No they don't.

"They" can take 50% from you without even knowing who the fuck you are by doubling the dollar supply on the ledger.. and does not matter which one you hold.. physical or digital....  similar with the gold manipulations in which some gold bag hodlers believe that there are significantly additional value to physical gold (beyond armagaeddon scenarios) in holding the actual cumbersome physical stuff...

Accordingly, our uncle sam or designee with merely push one lil button (or click the mouse) and wing-a-dingie-adee-ding, wam-a-dee-wee-woo-doodle.. and uie pooie end up having 50% less value than you had a few minutes earlier.   Easy ma peasie...

Fair enough, I think I accounted for that under "inflation type BS" which is a known attack by governments. And yes it does work on physical dollars, that's why I have moved them into bitcoin.

If they want my bitcoin they can try to get the password out of me with a blowtorch and a truncheon, but they do have to do it in person. I myself appreciate the "personal touch" type of service over an anonymous lout in a bunker. :-)

I hear about government "sponsored" (controlled) cyber currency from time to time and I have to tell people that it's not a good idea. Most of the time I focus on things like "inflation", "currency debasement" and of course "this money can only be spent on these things we will allow you to buy".

I don't even consider the really weird stuff like "This money expires on xxxx", or "We can take this money back from you at our discretion". That is where stuff really gets creepy. I mean it's my labor that I am getting paid for, but I'm getting paid in a currency that can be taken away from me on a whim?

Fuck that noise. At least with paper dollars they have to send a thug with a truncheon to get it from me.

Yeah, ~25% down, normal day.

Still remember Bob selling a chunk to buy his lover out of slavery at 16k or so. That memory puts all of this in perspective.

Well, crap. I really should follow my own advice....

So I was starting work on a second controller for the "B" condition cubes. These are the 2-3 die cubes that I will run on one of my beaglebone controllers instead of the Rpi that has Tarkin's firmware. Since Tarkin's code does some pretty nifty monitoring of power supplies and cube temps and does restart of failed dies I figured I would load the best cubes on that controller and put the lesser ones on a dumber one.

I swapped in a sixth cube last week which was a 4 die unit. Worked well at 250mh and since I found another one marked "4 die" I figured I would replace one of my 3 die units and bring that controller to 4 4-die and 2 3 die. So I plugged it in, hooked it up to the same ps that the 4 die cube was using and powered up.

A quick flash of the light on the controller told me I fucked up. Quick flash followed by quick flash means a short on the spi bus and since that is shared with all cubes one fucked cube can damage others. I SHOULD have checked the resistance of all 10 pins with respect to pin 10 (ground) but I was in a hurry.

In this case it cost me the cube that was on the same power supply, the 4 die one. Both now cause the controller to beacon, but on a positive note the other 4 cubes appear ok. So I put the old cube back (3 die) on and put another 3 die cube in. Oddly enough the ribbon cable also does not work anymore, although I can't see damage I'm guessing it blew open in the failure.

Moral: Always check a cube before putting it on a controller with other cubes. Drat.

Bad Elon! Bad DOGE!

But we all know that the earth is a sphere. And that we are living inside of it. As Tolkein told us.

Thank you. I have always wondered if anyone else understood the whole concept of the Hollow Earth.

My wife just told me that CNN has been dissing Tesla for energy usage. Is Musk's tweet today somehow related to that?

(Note I'm receiving that about third-hand so take it for what it is).

Wait, this is the Tesla that makes battery powered cars? And solar systems? And powerwalls?

And this is the guy that builds reusable spaceships so you don't just toss the whole damn thing in the ocean?

Say what you want about Elon, but the guy's not an eco-disaster or a dickhead like Bezos. It's nice to have someone actually thinking about future stuff. Which makes this whole Doge/Bitcoin thing completely baffling.

Weird.

Today I leveled ground and set up an outdoor pool. I had to rush to shut off the water at my wife's business because of a leak. My dog got caught up in the dog-next-door's lead and I had to rescue her. My back started hurting and I worked through it. I have blisters on my hand. The sink blocked up. My son got an "owie" on his hand and daddy fixed it and the richest man in the world took a dump in my portfolio.

I'm currently drinking gin & twist-up and I feel fine.

Back brace. Even the little Home Depot soft one. They look stupid yes, but man does it totally solve the back problem.

Hm, that doesn't make much sense. Me thinks there is another issue going on, wonder what it is.

The solution to bitcoin using too much electricity is simple: Raise the price of electricity. Price goes up fewer people mine, network is still way way way way way over secure. The other solution is time: Another halving or two and less miners will be around. Still plenty to secure the network, and people can use it for transactions.

Yawn.

The very fact that people may need these things repaired again blows my mind. But... well, odder things have happened.

The Lightfoot BB firmware is over here on Dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/s/iz0z2bpzpcetpil/knc-lightfoot%204gb%20version.7z?dl=0

Damn, it even works. Fast too. Oddly enough I don't think anyone ever donated LTC, even though a bunch of people used it. Note to self: Tarkin's license thing was a good idea. Go figure. Tarkin should start selling his code again too.

You can figure out how to uncompress it with 7z then burn it onto a 4gb or larger SD card, it's a simple ISO image.

Currently the five titans are happily hashing at 300mh and I'll be adding some more from the pile this weekend. That should get me a solid 500-600mh, which is plenty.

And if anyone blows up their Titan and needs repairs, drop me a line and I'll give it a go. Oddly enough my repairs turned out to be a hell of a deal in the day for all concerned.

I'm also fixing this pile of Dragonmint T1 boards I accumulated, they are profitable too. Will wonders ever cease?

Just noticed what you did, you dorks! I told you 9xx is fine, damn it. You'll pay for this!
Actually you were stuck at Hero this morning so I dropped 1 merit to put you over the line :-) Congrats.

Doing my daily look at the mempool and the damn thing is near empty. 1 sat fees are now being processed now, so a great time to make some transactions.

Curious about ETH strength of late, I take a look at their mempool. Full, massivily full, and has been since the start of this year. Of course high fees are the norm but I think what this also says is that there is a tonne of consistant demand out there on their network, BTC looks like a ghost town in comparison. Now I realise this is because their network is clogged up with all sorts of silly shit (and BTC hash has increased), but if this demand is maintained (and I'm sure no one here wants to hear this), we have to consider the very likely possibility that ETH will eventually beat out BTC for the number one spot.

Yes ETH is a centralized shitcoin and a mess in so many ways, but nobody seems to care about that. The attitude is "well they'll solve all those problems with future updates". Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Either way I don't think it matters. ETH has their network effect, just like BTC does, there will be no ETH killer, but with all the extra shit that is flooding their network as time goes on, how could it not beat BTC, the digital gold that everyone just hodls but doesn't do much else with.

I won't be investing in it, but also don't want to be disappointed when (if) it does unseat BTC. I don't think it will be able to take BTC place this cycle either, but next on, maybe.

I hope I am wrong.

What I wonder is why people don't just shift their loads to ETC. Same network with some integrity.

They will keep printing, and announce YCC to the world and act like they are saving markets from out of control inflation. But it'll keep rising, especially in assets.

The billionaire talking heads will keep spouting "market bubble" and "potential selloff", all the while continuing to buy buy buy the stock market. It'll keep hitting ATH after ATH.

Is the problem money is being printed or demand+debt is at insane levels. Everyone coming out of this pandemic wants a new house, horse, and hooker so I would expect the prices for these (limited, although onlyfans will supply an endless stream of hookers) assets would rise regardless of current monetary supply.

The real fun comes if people can tap debt once again to bid up the prices of goods. Then we have 2004-2008 all over again where those of us with money are constantly outbid by people who are using debt to mortgage their houses, cars, souls, kids, and whatnot. Bad financial choices wind up driving out the good.
