301  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-26 yahoo! - World's first bitcoin ETF soars past $500m in AUM on: February 28, 2021, 08:12:09 PM
Will this be really a good news for the crypto industry or not? Because for me this might be a double-edged sword where the Bitcoin ETF is just confirming that we have a lot of demand and the other part is this Bitcoin ETF entered in the market on a bullish season where everything is up right now. The risk for this investors is more compared to the people who have entered it when Bitcoin was just below 20,000$ meaning the 590$ million assets under management they are handling right now is without any margin of safety and they are relying on Bitcoin going up above the current market value for their investors to have a profit. If everything will fail this could be a multi-million dollar disaster waiting to happen for these investors.

I don't agree. The risk for investors was always there. The risk was greater in 2012, when I first invested in cryptocurrency. Back then Bitcoin was legal only in a handful of countries. A lot of my friends even told me that my investment is going to become completely worthless in a matter of few months. Now I would say that the situation has improved a lot. Bitcoin is legalized and regulated in most of the countries and the investors enjoy some level of protection. The prices may be high, but it can go much higher in the long term.

Exactly what are you disagreeing about with what I have said? Because my whole point about my post is that they even have higher risk by entering the market in this way where prices are already high, they aren't exactly the ones who have been patient during the bear market but they are the ones who have participated in the market where it already has went up. If you are talking about the risk of holding Bitcoin in general I think we all know the big risk here since Bitcoin is one of the most volatile assets out there yet there not all risks are built equally because like I said earlier there are better entry points for an investor to buy Bitcoin as compared to what investors are doing right now where the market is already consolidating in a higher level.
302  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Brixx - Crowdfunding and Gaming like never before! on: February 28, 2021, 06:32:54 PM
It says in your crowdfunder page you are targeting 15,000 GBP for your funds and you currently have 0 donations so far. I guess what mainly lacking in your page is you mostly focus on your description is the money making part of the game yet and no information about your team or any other steps like licensing since this will most likely fall under betting/gambling as there is money involved. Also it says here in your profile that you have previously developed other games and I think it is important for you to mention which games are those you are involved in so others can verify your legitimacy. If you are a one-man team in this project right now maybe you need to focus on bringing some people part of the project the more early support you have the more successful your crowdfunding will be.
303  Other / Meta / Re: Good to delete post or not on: February 28, 2021, 05:19:46 PM
Well its a forum after all so you have a chance to correct him by quoting his post and then replying what you think is wrong on what he is saying and I think that is a better solution then completely removing the delete option for the post. If you are worried about these types of posts with misinformation being deleted you have 2 choices one is what I said earlier which is quoting the post and then replying to it and the other is archiving the post through any archiving websites available for you and maybe compile it so you will be able to have a record if this user is habitually spreading misinformation here in the forum which I think isn't allowed in the forum as it counts as trolling.
304  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If the US disable bank transfers then all other region will be forced... on: February 28, 2021, 04:25:25 PM
We are talking about crypto related cash transactions here like what they did before in India and right now in Nigeria right? If that is just the case then I don't think it will have a ripple effect on other countries not unless it is some kind of summit of countries into an agreement on doing so as definitely the US Government even though has some kind of influence in other countries won't make an influence regarding this one. But if you are talking about bank transfers being disabled entirely I don't think it will happen as transfers of money is one of the basic elements of a banks purpose and without the transfer function then I don't think people will really need banks in the first place.

But I cant return the coins because I sold them as I said in my 1st post on this thread! Sold them way before Polo notified me weeks later.

It doesn't matter whether you sold it or not since you will have the money you have earned from that illegal sale. Now the problem you will have is either you don't have the money you earned from those crypto or you will come up short because it has appreciated from the point when you have sold it either way you need to come up with the same quantity of Bitcoin you have received mistakenly and return it back to them as what you did is illegal and Poloniex has the right to file criminal charges against you. There is no excuses for your liability even if this was Poloniex's mistake.
306  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech companies no longer "friends" on: February 28, 2021, 01:42:38 PM
Big companies that will be entering the crypto market by means of their own stable coin won't be something that is well welcomed by the crypto industry IMO as most investors that are already in the crypto market is looking for new opportunities to grow their money and putting it in something that is "stable" won't make them interest in investing onto it. We have seen how countries have rejected Libra onto their country and we have seen a lot of negative comments against it so this will be the same for others who will try to create their own crypto.
307  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: LEGAL COURT RULING UK - UPPER COURTS - UK on: February 28, 2021, 12:37:28 PM
If I were you I'll be just appealing on the part of your true holdings with regards to you only having around 8.6 BTC and 298 ETH as you'll have a bigger chance of reversing the ruling if you don't cover a wider part of the problem. Involving the matters of Bitcoin and ETH as well as unprecedented issues regarding separation of crypto holdings is something that the upper court will have a hard time in, chances are they will just deny you an opportunity to show a case for them. Just focus on the digital trail that was left by your crypto transactions and show the best as you can proving that you only have that much of crypto and not the 65 BTC she is claiming you have the court will have an easier way of judgement with regards to this.
308  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-26 yahoo! - World's first bitcoin ETF soars past $500m in AUM on: February 28, 2021, 11:01:05 AM

An ETF is very good. Bitcoin investment trusts similar to Barry Silbert’s Grayscale does not allow investors to redeem the asset behind the derivative. This traps your money in that market because you can only get your money back by selling the asset. It might be okay if the market is liquid.

In an ETF, you can redeem the bitcoins this represents.

Investors do have the ability to get the Bitcoin equivalent in their investments but the problem is will these investors have the ability to pull out their money on their own especially when the market is about to go down? These people chose Bitcoin ETF as an alternative for directly trading in a crypto exchange for one reason and that is because they are still or don't have any knowledge how to trade directly in the crypto exchange so maybe they still have the same mindset as a lot of newbies that in order for them to make money is all they do is sit back and watch their money grow.
309  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Omg Help Exchange threatened to get me Rekt! on: February 27, 2021, 03:39:57 PM
That still counted as theft on how you proceeded with the mistaken deposit to your account. No matter how you twist the story as long as the deposit credited to you is not done by yourself or with your money it will be considered as theft it is as simple as that even if you made up excuses that you thought you won something from a promo you didn't know you participated in you will be charged with theft as the action is what they are basing it with. So if you go into the route of making an excuse you must show some good faith by returning the money you thought you have won and this is the only solution I am seeing right now for you to get out of any possible criminal charges.

311  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is BlockFi safe in the event of a stock market crash/another financial crisis? on: February 27, 2021, 01:21:28 PM
I tried looking for the annual report of Blockfi in their SEC Edgar page but unfortunately there are no documents pointing out to any kind of revenue breakdown for their company. Because the most important thing to see is where their revenue is mostly coming from and this will determine if they have some kind of survivable during the financial crisis. If there revenue is mostly coming from the trading side of their business then definitely they will take a hit as all the markets will be on a liquidation/bearish stage as the reflection of the economy but if there revenue is mostly coming from their loans then they will have a lot of chance to earn higher during this kind of period because people will try to look for ways on having money on their hands and asking for loans will be one of it.
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Which scenario is safer than the other? on: February 27, 2021, 12:45:21 PM
Scenario#1 is a more safer scenario for the recipient waiting for a transaction since the transaction is already confirmed in a block and the sender won't be able to use the RBF enabled transaction since the transaction is already confirmed. Remember that for possible attacks such as doubled spending and the 51% attack the most important thing to look out for is the number of confirmations you have for your transactions so members are right to point out that it doesn't matter if the transaction is RBF enabled or not as long as the transaction itself is confirmed it is what matters the most.
313  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [International Donate] Building rice farms in the Philippines Funding goal 0.2B on: February 26, 2021, 10:10:22 PM
Now, we are planning to set up a new, even bigger farm. It is currently also abandoned but need to be purchased, too. After purchasing it, we are planning to prepare it and try to expand it (needs to be considered locally).
Preparing will include purchasing rice seedlings and planting.

Hey there bro nice to see you helping some people in a developing country as they truly need help directly. Also if I may ask does the friend of yours in the Philippines know anything about the land grants being given for farmers there? Because if you want to save your money and spend it elsewhere your friend might want to try and apply for a land grant under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Agricultural free patents are land grants awarded to natural-born Filipino citizens in actual occupation and cultivation for at least 30 years of alienable and disposable lands not more than 12 hectares, and have paid the corresponding real property taxes.

Basically the land grant is about occupying a disposable land for a certain period of time in which the transfer of ownership will happen just by fulfilling the occupation period. So if you want to maximize your money you might want to explore this option with the DENR besides land grants from what I know they have several other related benefits for farmers regarding special land use permits on which the farmer is allowed to farm freely without purchasing the land, I hope this helps you as even some citizens here in the Philippines don't know about these kinds of laws/benefits for them.
314  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin investment on: February 26, 2021, 08:10:51 PM
Won't be really recommending a newbie to step in buying Bitcoin if they don't know anything about trading at all also we need to consider your emotional capacity if you can take Bitcoin/crypto trading because in my experience I have seen a lot of newbies who entered the market because of the hype and then later on losing their minds and money together because they don't have any plan at all after buying their first crypto. I suggest is for you to practice trading on a platform that allows you or just in a crypto portfolio management app and do mock buys and sell and see how you progress. If you don't have the time and patience for that and you are willing to lose your 1,000$ then just go ahead and feel the market as you please.
315  Other / Meta / Re: Should all scam busting techniques be made public? on: February 26, 2021, 07:02:56 PM
I think this is the negative side of putting up a scam accusation/reputation thread is that you also come up to how were you able to bust the scam down because without providing enough evidence then you won't really put up a convincing story against who you are accusing. Nutildah's thread might be into a lot of detail but even as simple as simple as plagiarized ICO whitepaper accusations would give a lot of detail for people on what to avoid and what to do because the info being given by the OP is something necessary for an accusation. With that being said I still don't think that there is a need for a rank restriction for accessing these boards as you'll be denying the lower ranking members some content of the forum that should be for everyone. Scammers might improve and learn on what they are seeing but it doesn't mean that they won't get caught on what they are doing.
316  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think about borrowing against your bitcoin? on: February 26, 2021, 05:38:27 PM
I've been hearing the idea that selling your Bitcoin to take (some) profits is stupid.
If they are calling people "stupid" by shorting or participating in a short of Bitcoin then you can count me as one of the stupid people in the market right now. Unlike your idea on increasing your debt just to add more position on Bitcoin I think shorting or just simply taking advantage of the price drop when you have your exit plan is more efficient and is a good way of maximizing the capital you already own. Selling your position when it is falling down or is about to fall down is the best way to take profit and at the same time buy it back again at a discounted price.

The idea would be to borrow using the Bitcoin as collateral, and refinance as the price continues to rise. That way you don't sell your Bitcoin and you don't pay taxes, income tax or capital gains. It should be done with a low debt ratio, which will allow you to weather a bear market storm for a couple of years.

This will work if you are looking at Bitcoin in the long-run but I don't know how exactly this loan will workout for you since you will definitely have a given period on when you need to pay it out and that is what you need to take in mind. Compared to observing the market and taking advantage of the price drops this for me is more riskier as not only you have a pressure coming from the market but also you have the pressure from your debt.
317  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: BLOCKCHAIN.COM IS TRYING TO TAKE NEGATIVE REVIEWS DOWN BY ISSUING LEGAL THREATS on: February 26, 2021, 04:47:31 PM
Since they brought up the word "defamation" in their email to you I think they are mostly referring to "Libel" against you which for me will be a very weak case against you. The elements of Libel is as follow

1. statement is defamatory - which in you case will really defame blockchain.com since it is a negative review
2. it must be written and the identity of the person/entity is named - which it is

but the one thing that won't make it libelous is the last element
3. existence of malice

Basically the last element is trying to tell you that you have written that as a revenge against Blockchain.com which in how you right things that have provided dozens of similar cases and other information makes it clear that you are writing a review/scam report that has happened. I'm not sure if they are serious about their case against you but definitely it will be a bad press for them if they pursue such thing. What the people will see is instead of spending money and giving time on finding out what had happened to your 2fa email is they just spend their money on one of their customers who lost their account.
318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fed's statements - A Catalyst to the Continued BTC Bull Run on: February 25, 2021, 09:14:17 PM
Learned this while watching the movie The Wolf of Wallstreet, Matthew McConaughey's character said something about how no one knows whether the prices go up, down or sideways, what matters is that you get the clients money in your pocket. I guess some parts of that line could be applied to bitcoin as well. The price always bounce back, it's just that there are many eyes on bitcoin market right now that we think that this bounce back is special.

If this statement is true then jobs like fund managers, portfolio managers, research and financial analysts wouldn't exist but surely this isn't the case as there are thousands of them in existence. I would only consider this statement to be true on assets where the basis of its price is only through speculation, and supply and demand. Because in stocks they definitely have more data as compared to what cryptocurrencies have, they have financial data, physical projects, and other key performance indicators that can be analyze with and determine where it will go. In cryptocurrencies on the other hand you won't really have that privilege to analyze with since you will just rely on the news and what is happening in the market right now to determine on your next plan.
319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can your funds be safe???????????????????????????? on: February 25, 2021, 08:18:40 PM
Nope, they are not creating the private keys for you atleast they don't know it since the private keys are random words generated at the time of address creation and you only know this even wallet developer can't find the private key because it is not possible to reverse anything due to the encryption code.
But that doesn't make any sense, the seed phrase are shown on their application so they should be able to see my seed phrase and use it to recover and access to my funds right? How come these wallet providers don't know my seed phrase when they are the one giving it to me?

That's not the case for legitimate and reputable Bitcoin wallets. Yes the wallet and seed phrase generation happens with their own application but it doesn't necessarily mean they also know the seed phrase you have been given since this day will almost certainly be encrypted in a one way direction where you only know the exact order and words given to you as a seed phrase. It's like how you create a password for an account, they don't know what your password really is but what they know is the data being translated by that password and it may be a long string of random letters and numbers which even them don't know the possible combinations for it. It is the same way how your seed phrase is something that you will only know.
320  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-21 Insider - Americans are becoming increasingly bullish on crypto on: February 25, 2021, 07:26:53 PM
@Theb. Agreed! This is clickbait and more promotion of speculative investments for the people who do not know what most of these projects are. Bitcoin and 2 other cryptocoins might be the only coins that are not scams, however, these coins also does not escape the classification of speculative investments. Their price move similar to penny stocks.

Bitcoin even though I used the word "investment" when  I'm talking about it doesn't fall into any kind of traditional investments as you are merely speculating the future price of Bitcoin, this is the main reason why a lot of traditional investors like Warren Buffet have distanced themselves from such assets like Bitcoin. Unlike other kinds of assets cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin doesn't have any Fundamentals, No way to determine the fair market value, and the only way to determine the price is through technical analysis and as well as Hype, FOMO, and FUD happening in the market that is why trading is more associated to Bitcoin rather than investing. That's why the question being asked in the survey is wrong to begin with as well.
