3043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: WBC Explores Possibility Of Remote Scoring For Upcoming Fights on: May 06, 2020, 12:09:10 PM
It would be funny how they will cope up when there will be technical difficulties during the match or there are unexpected power interruption  Grin

I don't know but I think the plan is kinda stupid. if they let boxers do it, judges might as well be present there. How many judges are there in a boxing match? Not that many and they can be seated far from each other as they watch and score.

I also wonder why they're willing to risk the fighters while being cautious about judges' health? If they are not ready, they should just wait until the V is somewhat contained.

Now what is the difference for a legendary to MERIT another legendary who is already a legendary RANKER on this forum

This is a little off-topic.

Legendaries who are active in signature campaigns needs few merits too because campaign managers would require or prefer those who received xx amount of merits in the last 120 days. If they don't meet such requirement, the chances of them getting accepted is lower.

I doubt it has something to do with your activity dito sa local board.

Looking at it again, Sinabi mo din sa deleted thread na hindi mo na kinailangan i-translate dahil marami naman marunong mag-english dito. Malamang na-violate mo yung rule no. 12 sa (un)official rules:

~ And somebody told me that Gaethje is practicing hard on his upper cut.  Rofl.  So he's prolly going for an upper cut vs Ferguson's step in elbows...?
You got insider info or something? It's hard to pull off since he'll need to block the elbow first before he can throw and uppercut but it makes perfect sense.

~
However, what we might witness is Jorge Masvidal fight in the boxing ring.
Jorge looks great but I don't think he has that "stardom" for boxing fans yet. Canelo-McGregor would still be a bigger fight.

Is Canelo Alvarez under the origanization of Oscar dela Hoya?
I think so.

Isn't this illegal or against the game rules? I understand that you and your friend can get away with this in the online game but it's not that easy to pull this one on land-based.

3051  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tutorial To Stay Safe Beginners From Telegram Scamming on: May 05, 2020, 04:31:32 PM
Changing your privacy settings not to be added to random groups does lessen the risk of getting scammed but it doesn't prevent scammers from sending you private messages just like what happened to you.

The best practice I think is to never talk to any telegram group support/admin privately unless it is necessary. Before entertaining PMs, verify first if their account is legit. Check every letter in their username (not bio) if it matches. One trick scammers mostly use is changing one letter like small letter "l" and the big letter "I". Remember also that most admins would say that they do not send you a PM first.

If you determined that they are fake/scammers, report them to telegram first before blocking them. In that way, they can have a scammer tag next to their profile (see image below) if proven. Just send a message to @notoscam and provide more details.

3052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best altcoin wallet on: May 05, 2020, 04:08:54 PM
I have never heard some of the wallets here.

There are many people asking here in this forum on which is the best wallet to use to hold and keep their altcoins, there are many best altcoin wallets we can use to make ourselves assured that our money is in the right place.
"Best" is subjective. For tech savvy users who knows their shit about security, most wallets listed in the article would probably not pass as one of the best. Many newbies might not be the most well-informed users but I think it's better that we lead them to more secure and more reputable wallets that are easy to use.

5. Keepkey- it is one of the leading hardware wallets for cryptocurrency with support for more than 40 digital currencies. It is affordably priced, easy to use, and has a decent design.
I don't use this wallet but IIRC, Shapeshift, who acquired Keepkey and integrated the exchange into the wallet, implemented KYC through their "Shapeshift Membership" some time in 2018. You can still use the wallet merely to send and receive though but there's no telling if they will require all wallet users to pass some verification in the future.

7. Exodus Multi Currency - it is an elegant and complete ‘Blockchain Asset Wallet’ that makes it easy to store, manage and exchange several cryptocurrencies from a single wallet.

8. Jaxx Multi Currency - it is a popular multi-currency hot wallet developed by Decentral, a well-established name in the industry and a crypto innovation hub known for its electronic exchangers.
Both are closed source which puts a "dent" on their reputation as secure wallet.

12. MyCrypto - is not a web wallet and cannot recover your private key or password, access your account, move funds, recover funds, nor cancel/reverse transactions.
This description looks so negative but it's true. The OP copied it straight from MyCrypto's website:

MyCrypto cannot recover your key

MyCrypto is not a web wallet and cannot recover your private key or password, access your account, move funds, recover funds, nor cancel/reverse transactions.

They don't call themselves as "web wallet" since they require users to download a desktop app if they want to create a wallet using MyCrypto. All data generated are stored on the users' end and none on MyCrypto's servers. If users don't want to generate their own wallet, they can still access their other wallets using this platform.

Please note that none of your airdrop participants will be notified if they do not subscribe to either of the two tools mentioned by other users above. Have you tried dropping them a private message instead? It's more laborious but they will get notified for sure.

Nope. IIRC, Loycev's and giammangiato's were created because piggy's stopped working.

It's not new, it depends on the mod. I know that mprep adds a note to explain the merge of posts (we can't properly merge 2 posts/topics, that's why some mods edit the first post and delete the second one), I do that kind of thing too. The best thing to do is to avoid double posts.
I see. Thanks for the clarifying and Yes, it was mprep.
IIRC, we were testing the telegram bot if he'll get two separate notifications for a post quote and a "@" mention that time.

I get this deleted message as well just earlier today from my post on Report plagiarism (copy/paste), reporting copy-paster users.
~
So it's not just on merged posts. It was probably the same mod who checked our post  Grin

3058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online learning. on: May 03, 2020, 02:44:14 PM
Did you get the list from this article - Eleven Free Courses To Learn Bitcoin, Blockchain And Cryptocurrencies

Quote
1-DFIN 511: Introduction to Digital Currencies (Offered By UNIC)

This free online course is taught by Andreas Antonopoulos (author of Mastering Bitcoin) and Antonis Polemitis and it represents the first course in the MSc in Digital Currency offered by UNIC. The course places bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in the broader framework of the history of money, before talking about the practical implementation of bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies, and the evolving relationship between digital currencies and financial institutions, as well as the broader world.

It requires no prerequisite knowledge of cryptocurrencies to dive in. There is a final exam component at the end that tests your grasp of the concepts taught.

2- Coinbase Learn

This simple set of interactive flashcards is a great resource for those who want to cover the basics of cryptocurrencies, from buying and selling to mining in a short amount of time. Other than a slight advertisement of Coinbase as safe and regulated, the mini-course remains an objective resource that covers a lot of ground in a surprisingly intuitive and short fashion. A great resource to share with absolute beginners who have little time on their hands and want to get up to speed fast.

3-Coursera (Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies) Offered By Princeton University

This free Coursera course introduces basic cryptography concepts and then links them to the basics of Bitcoin. Through videos, the course lecturer explains how decentralization is implemented in practice, how Bitcoin mining works, and how Bitcoins are stored. A short explanation is then given to altcoins and the future of the space.

The course is offered by Princeton University, and though no certificate is presented for completion, the knowledge and way it's presented serves as a useful introduction to cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin principles, with an emphasis on the security of Bitcoin. The instructor, Arvind Narayanan is an assistant professor of computer science at Princeton who focuses on the security and stability of Bitcoin -- so that's naturally where his Coursera course gravitates towards.

You'll want to get more information about the rest of the ecosystem outside of Bitcoin elsewhere, but otherwise, this is a solid resource.

4- EdX (Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies) Offered By UC Berkeley

This UC Berkeley EdX course differentiates itself by also offering a dedicated section to the Ethereum Virtual Machine, along with a specific section focused on the game theory of what it would take to attack the Bitcoin blockchain -- a fresh approach to enumerating the theoretical security pitfalls of the system.

In an interesting twist, the two instructors were undergraduates who are part of the Blockchain @ Berkeley group. The course, like other EdX courses, is free to audit and take but will cost money ($99 USD) if you want a verified certificate to prove your completion.

5- 101 Blackboard Series

This Youtube series focuses on some specific technical elements within bitcoin, from the components of private keys, to confronting the scaling and centralization risks sometimes inherent in the way bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are implemented in practice.

6- Ethereum (Learn Section)

The learning section of the ethereum.org website (the official website for ethereum) includes a series of free resources that are curated together in lots of detail about ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. It dives into the smart contracts side of ethereum, as well as the basics, and also focuses on knowledge for the latest updates and roadmap for ethereum. At the end, a section is dedicated to criticism and other perspectives on how ethereum could be doing better -- leaving it a fairly well-balanced selection of knowledge about the ecosystem that is packaged like a curated course.

7- Udemy (Introduction to Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain)

A free course with about two hours worth of video on the basics of distributed systems and its placement in the history of money. Perhaps a good resource for people who want to take a slightly slower pace than the Coinbase flashcards, but don't want to be fully immersed in different elements of blockchain and different parts of the ecosystem as with the fully-fleshed out courses presented by EdX and Coursera.

It's a free offering on Udemy that has also been used by about 40,000 other students.

8- EdX (Introduction to Hyperledger Blockchain Technologies)

This EdX course, offered through the Linux Foundation (which is building the HyperLedger framework) offers an introductory course to blockchain and what role HyperLedger plays in the space, as well as the tools available. It's built for a non-technical business audience, and is an introductory course to blockchain principles outside of the discussion around Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. The course itself is free, but a verified certificate from EdX will cost $99 USD.

9- DeveloperWorks (Blockchain Essentials)

This video course, developed in partnership with IBM, and taught by two developers in IBM's blockchain enablement division, goes over the basics of blockchain then leads to a demo and lab component where you can actually work with the HyperLedger framework and practice with it. You'll be able to use the HyperLedger Composer after this course. While slightly more technical, the level is still marked for beginners, even non-technical ones.

10- Coinbase Earn

What's better than free? Earning money for learning. Coinbase offers a selection of introductory courses and quizzes in cryptocurrencies that don't often have a dedicated course, such as Dai (a stablecoin), EOS and privacy focused ZCash. This will allow any learner to get a more holistic view of altcoins and different cryptocurrencies than the standard courses focused on bitcoin and ethereum. You'll earn small amounts of the cryptocurrency in question for answering quiz questions on the topic, so you'll have a small amount to work with in practice after.

11- Cryptoeconomics Textbook

This mini-textbook course, offered by Ivey Business School in Canada (associated with the University of Western Ontario), focuses on a crash course to bitcoin in the framework of the economic impact and aspects of bitcoin activities. Consider it a mini-crash course in bitcoin that also ties it to its broader economic impact.
