321  Economy / Gambling / Re: GRADE THIS PARLAY -SOCCER- on: July 30, 2015, 04:09:05 PM
Parlays are usually quite risky.
This probably has a really low likelihood of happening, but good luck Smiley
The only suggestion I'd make, is that if you have a really really good feeling about any of the bets, make a normal bet in addition to this bet.
You might be able to make some BTC off a normal bet even if your parlay fails.
322  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: FISHBITFISH.COM on: July 30, 2015, 04:00:11 PM
Currently trying it out with some friends (Go green!)
The only problem is, it doesn't allow you to play with larger amounts as the fees get really high really quick.
Consider making a version with two other colors where the minimum bet is something like 0.01, but the fees go from 0 to 10% or 20% only.
You'd probably make more profit due to the higher original amount, and more people would be able to play too.
323  Economy / Services / Re: Need A Trusted Member To Review An Ebook on: July 30, 2015, 02:31:33 PM
I'd be willing to do it for free if it is <100 pages. (no need for AWS vouchers or crunchyroll)
Depends on your idea of trusted, not sure if Hero member is enough.
324  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who has Windows 10? on: July 30, 2015, 12:43:01 PM
For the love of god, please turn wifi-sense off.
It broadcasts the SSID of any wifi network you use to all your Outlook, Skype and Facebook contacts, along with the password.
This means that every network you visit instantly has its privacy destroyed.
Likewise, make sure that nobody with wifi-access uses your wifi network, unless you want practicaly anybody to be able to sniff on your wifi network, even if it is encrypted.
325  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Chances of a collision on: July 30, 2015, 12:02:22 PM
This image should at least be posted once in every "but it's possible for someone to create the same address, right?"-thread:
*snipped image*

The image says 2^256 though
Isn't it just 2^160 for BTC?
That's 2^96 times bigger

It would take a lot lot less time to crack a Bitcoin address than SHA-256 encryption (which is what the infographic talks about)

Let's look at actually counting all of these.
We have an SSD, let's see if we could write and overwrite every possible private key.
As of 2009, there exists a SSD which can write at 6 Gbits/s (6 * 2^30 bits per second)
Also, it takes up 2 watts of power.
According to wikipedia, the sun gives out 3.8 * 10^26 watts
So, we can run 1.9*10^26 of these clearly imperfect SSDs with the sun

We're dealing with 1.9 * 10^26 * 6 * 2^30 bits per second, and we have to deal with 2^160 bits
2^160/(1.9 * 10^26 * 2^30) = 10^12 seconds

This is equal to 40,000 years, definitely within the life time of the sun!
What is more, I'm considering normal inefficient SSDs.

Sure, this is still impossible (when you consider hashing and the need of a perfectly efficient dyson sphere), but the hypothetical presented in the infographic is wrong.

327  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum > Search - Historic Posts on: July 30, 2015, 11:25:47 AM
You can use google search.

392 days ago (from today) was 'July 3, 2014'
So, in google search, search for bitcointalk "July 3, 2014,"

Check if that works?
328  Other / Meta / Re: Just what is theymos all about? on: July 30, 2015, 11:11:14 AM
Couldn't find the full thing, but this outlines how he can be replaced and the people who can vote on it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=141503.140
Can anyone link to the other one which is signed and all instead of this draft.
329  Other / Meta / Re: Forgot My Account Bitcointalk Password on: July 30, 2015, 06:21:12 AM
If you haven't PMed Theymos/Badbear already, I think you should do so.
Typically, it will be resetted through your email, so you would need to provide them with a new email to set it to (if you've lost your old one).
330  Other / Meta / Re: Question about silent auction bids on: July 30, 2015, 05:47:43 AM
It's possible that extending the auction end time whenever a bid is placed could help.
Means that nobody can jump in at the last second, and theres a chance that it will get extended to EU time.
10 PM EST is around 2 AM GMT. As most countries are a bit ahead, it'd be 3-5 AM GMT.
If it gets extended by a couple of hours by interested bidders, EU people would have a chance to put in a bid as they wake up.

The silent bidding that you suggest too could be done by just PMing the person running the auction, who could then post the bids on their behalf.
If necessary, a signed message from the bidder could be given to the auctioneer, with the max amount so that the auctioneer could prove that he had authorization to make bids on the bidders behalf.
Possibly could ask that the address should have atleast the maximum bid amount available.
331  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [wtb] Global Elite CSGO on: July 29, 2015, 05:59:41 PM
Well, for the price issues, some googling (http://www.hltv.org/forum/779473-global-elite-account-price), (http://www.elitepvpers.com/forum/counter-strike-trading/3434203-wts-selling-2-cs-go-accounts-rank-global-elite.html) suggests that the minimum price you would expect to pay is around 50 USD.

An account with more wins in total, more hours in CS:GO, more years on steam or more other games would sell for much more. (More likelihood of being a legit player, and other bonuses). Be careful buying accounts with small win numbers as they are likelier to be cheaters.

Check this forums out: http://www.epicnpc.com/forums/244-Counter-Strike-Global-Offensive-CS-GO-Accounts-Buy-Sell-Trade
From pretty reliable boosters, you can get from unranked to GE for 100$. That should be your maximum price.
There are people selling SMFC accounts for around 35$ with 100s of wins, and vouched boosters offering boosting for around 40$ (or lesser) from SMFC to GE.

Check other forums, theres a chance you would get ridiculously high offers here.
I suggest not accepting any offer >100$ as you can get the same from more recognized users on other sites.
And even above 75$ is pricier than usual, 50-75$ should be the cost.

EDIT: Found a 50$ GE: http://www.epicnpc.com/threads/793933-Global-Elite-l-36W-144HRS-l-Rank-9-l-VAC-Clean-l-Check-The-Photos-l-Fast-Delivery
332  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Coinsolution.co - 200% ROI - 1 Month, Live Investor Chatroom, Custom Script! on: July 29, 2015, 05:24:38 PM
The investment options are particularly weird.

If you choose the 24 hour option, and reinvest the money you get every time:
From 102.5%, after 30 days:
(1.025^30) * 100 = 209.8% ROI

If you choose the 7 day option and reinvest the money you get every time:
From 120% after 28 days:
(1.2^4) * 100 = 207.4% ROI

So, the 30 day option is the worst if you choose to reinvest.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Litecoin is the new Bitcoin on: July 28, 2015, 08:42:36 PM
Litecoin transaction times are pretty fast and there's still much room to grow, very low market cap compared to Bitcoin and active development.
What do you think?

I think Litecoin's days as a top-3 coin are numbered. It may continue to get support until Bitcoin's blocksize debate is resolved, but once that happens, rationality will return to the market and Litecoin's market-cap will continue falling toward its deserved long-term clone-coin status.

Ripple is centralized, and is the only alt-coin above litecoin in the market AFAIK and is complete BS.
The next from LTC, Dash and Doge are far far away.
Why will LTC fall?
It may not be miles better than Bitcoin, but just like Bitcoin has the advantage of being first, Litecoin has the advantage of being pretty close.

I don't see any huge innovation on the horizon to bump either LTC or BTC off. I think LTC will stay, not crossing Bitcoin as OP suggest, nor falling miserably as you suggest.
334  Economy / Reputation / Re: LostPoet's Reputation Thread - How to Verify my Steam Account inside on: July 28, 2015, 08:25:25 PM
Apologies, my steam account has been locked.
I'll be unable to confirm you via steam.

However, a Bitcoin signature has still not been made AFAIK.
The label you set on coinbase isn't visible to us

Please read this thread I had shown earlier: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/1526413-how-do-i-sign-a-message-with-a-bitcoin-address-
The thread gives a step by step guide to signing a message with a Bitcoin address, and in the end you should have three pieces of information to write down: The bitcoin address, the message you've chosen and the signature. You cannot set the signature by yourself, it will be automatically generated.

It is not possible that the signature will perfectly match your profile ID. Perhaps the message to be signed can be it, but not the signature.
After following the guide, set the message to be signed as something like "This is LostPoet confirming ownership of steam account: 76561198085699289" and tell us the exact message and the signature which it gives you.

I repeat, you have not given a Bitcoin signature, and I am unable to confirm steam identity at this time.
335  Economy / Services / Re: Coinchat Avatar/PM/Signature Campaign: Low posting requirements! on: July 28, 2015, 05:19:26 PM
Uhhh, doesn't TF run/own coinchat? Or am I thinking of another site?

He did back in 2013, but passed the reins to someone else.
You're right though, but it has changed quite a bit since then.
(It's been nearly two years!)

EDIT: Wait a minute.
You weren't even on the forums back then...
inb4 QuickSeller is the alt of someone who left the forums in 2013....
336  Economy / Services / [CLOSED] Coinchat Avatar/PM/Signature Campaign: Low posting requirements! on: July 28, 2015, 04:11:59 PM
Campaign is closed, no future reopening foreseen.
Payments for this session tomorrow

Coinchat is a chat site, where you are rewarded mBTC for constructive discussion!
It is NOT a faucet, but is a fun site to earn some mBTC without having to do anything but discuss.

I'm starting a signature/avatar/PM campaign, but I am not affiliated with coinchat in any way.

Firstly, if you are joining the campaign, it is necessary to use the avatar.
The personal message and signature give further bonuses, but you will not be paid without the avatar.

Activity of minimum 5 contributive posts per two weeks is expected.

Each participant will receive a score, which is equal to: (number of fields) * (total number of posts) * (post value)
At the end of each bi-weekly period, each user will receive a share of the total pot proportional to their score.

The total pot for now is 0.01 BTC per 2 weeks

Number of Fields: Avatar only = 1, Avatar and signature or Avatar and PM = 2, All three fields = 3
Total number of posts: Not posts made while using this campaign, but total all time posts
Post value: I will decide this number, between 0.25 and 3. Most users will have a score of 1, but this may be more or less depending on post quality.
Sr. Member+ will have a post value of 2 usually, unless there is exceptional or poor post quality.

Additionally, the poster with the highest score will receive 0.005 BTC every 2 weeks!

Signature rules:
If you're using a signature too, you must not have any other paid signature (you can have other personal signatures).
This signature must come first.
It must link to coinchat.org
The size, font, and formatting is upto you. Size cannot be smaller than the default size.
The text must say "Coinchat.org: Earn free BTC for chatting!"

Avatar:

https://i.imgur.com/6IhwbMf.png

Personal message:
Coinchat.org: Earn free BTC for chatting!

Why join this campaign?
I'll admit that the payment is lower than usual, but there are some good reasons to join.
-> Low post requirement
-> Penalizes spam rather than encouraging it
-> Not gambling related, not a scam or a ponzi either.
-> Avatar and/or Personal Message can be used alongside other paid signatures

You don't need to post here, just use the below sign up link
Sign up link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18kNUyPGRl-n35LMODzhnUwRjwnpR5AOGEeQtnHIvqmg/viewform

No confirmation will be provided! As long as you're full member+, you are accepted.
Payment may be not paid only if you do not have the avatar, have filled up false data or are banned.

Next payment date:
27th of August

Regular registration:
19th of August

Late registration (half the points and payment):
24th of August
337  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do play with sign-up bonuses? on: July 28, 2015, 02:11:17 PM
Alright, on topic then.
I had a 10 mBTC bonus on bitcasino.io (the one in my signature), with a 35x rollover.
Managed to get it up to 190 mBTC by the time I gambled 350 mBTC, and then cashed out.

Also, there was a second promotion on bitcasino.io where I got 50 mBTC, but sadly couldn't get far.
My strategy was playing slots (100% contribution to rollover) followed by playing poker and getting fast money when I got low (poker has 0% contribution to rollover).
But I accidentally ended up betting a bit too much on slots and went below the minimum buyin for poker.
(something like 5-7 mBTC)
And then slots took it all away.
338  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do play with sign-up bonuses? on: July 28, 2015, 12:08:21 PM
I do not recommend bonuses because they require a high rollover to withdraw so you end losing the whole money

Well, even if you lose all the money, it is fine. You had fun and had a chance to get something for nothing.
This is assuming it is a signup bonus that doesn't need a deposit.
If it is a deposit bonus though, it might not be as good of an idea.
339  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Contraption Maker for 0.001 on: July 28, 2015, 11:10:44 AM
0.001 is not the 3.5$ or close to it, but is around 29 cents
I think you're talking about 0.01 BTC which would be around 2.9$?
Double check the values.
340  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Sell runescape gold for bitcoins ? on: July 28, 2015, 07:04:20 AM
I would very much like to sell my 07 and 03 currency.  I do not play runescape but currently have the currency on their poker sites.  Those poker sites are the following:  BetNation, TokenBets and BigBoiBets.

The whole cashing out to your character in the game is too complicated to me and I built my poker bankrolls on all 3 sites from Freerolls.   I have a total of about 23M 07 (which is currently worth around  1.3usd/M.

I'm not a scammer and I normally play poker on us legal sites as well as some bitcoin poker sites.  I do not want to get in any trouble or recieve any kind of ban but what I wish to do is just transfer someone poker chips from the account (as a p2p transaction) and have them trade/barter with me for bitcoins.  In other words I want to get rid of my runescape gold(which again is in the form of poker chips on the runescape compatible poker sites i named above) and recieve bitcoins sent directly to my wallet or p2p transfer to my bitcoin poker accounts.

Trust seems to be the only issue and I would like suggestions from the more seasoned members of this forum.

only thing I can think of (which is not too bad of an idea I don't think) is to find a willing participant and then to many transactions at 1M per transaction (that way the most either of us could ever get ripped off would be...what?  $1.30 usd.

Thanks so much and please respond to me

Alternatively, consider using an escrow.
The person with the Bitcoin would give the entire amount to the escrow, and then you would send the RSGP.
The escrow would then send you the Bitcoin.
This works better as the escrow will be someone with high trust.

For reference, this is the escrow list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0
