4 months at current rate on an obsolete ASIC is very very bad. You ougtha pay no more than 2 months worth ROI. Also those things are loud, really not a dorm miner.
Try to find some S3's for 10-20$ or something. You can run them on silent 120mm PC fans.
2 month ROI is a thing of the past - I don't anticipate ANYTHING managing that any more, and it's totally unrealistic. For that matter, what has managed a 2 month ROI at ANY point in the last 2 years? I can't think of anything offhand, unless you got a near-literal steal on the price.... No its very actual and very real. I've managed 1.5-2 months ROI consistently, repeatedly for the last year. People saying 4month ROI is the minimum sound like what most people like to propagate repeatedly to other people on the forum instead of reality/what you can really do. (actual numbers, actual facts) If you have free electricity you can get 2 months ROI with very little problems. Just check the market place... people are selling stuff like SP20 and S5 for 40-50$... Then one S5 earn me 30$ per month atm. SP20 would be fairly similar. 50/30$ = 1.6mo You still got headroom to include ROI on PSU and misc hardware, though i do not typically count those since they are reusable.

I think if we use ubuntu it's not effective, because for maintenance is very high
No clue what you're talking about - Ubuntu, like most LINUX distributions, is free and the updates are also free. There is no "maintainance" that is very high on it. Because monitoring 100 rigs on Ubuntu with no monitoring solution is very high maintenance. use a windows PC/laptop with the right monitoring software then run the rigs with ubuntu it's actually is better easy to work with etc and the drivers for Ubuntu 15 and lower add monitoring any way . What software let you put a preflashed OS on 500 rigs and control everything from a single file, with no need to connect to individual rigs?

The H97 Anniversary is popular for being the successor for the H81 BTC PRO, but there are quite a few other contenders.

This is by design. Each instance of miner establishes it's own connection and thus it is displayed as separate worker. This is an useful feature because sometimes multiple instances of miners are running on user's rigs by mistake and this kind of view allows them to quickly detect this issue. We might add the option to aggregate alike named workers on Miner's page in the future releases. Thank you for using our service! Best regards, NiceHash team. How about a toggle to merge identical miner name? Having 6 line for each rig is a bit much. I have 4 pages of workers for 7 rigs.

I dont really think there would be an issue with the default setup. Issues like that would probably be related to the a psu being crap, built with third tier components. If the PSU intake is extremely hot, then maybe it would be a temporary heat issues, but i think the S7 would overheat before the PSU.
You can always get a laser thermometer and check, if you think its a conditional issue.

You need this miner; https://github.com/dmaxl/cgminerAnd some usb drivers for windows. Or with a RasPi i used the dmaxl fork with minera. I really recommend you do it this way. I think for windows for my falcons --scrypt --scan-serial /dev/ttyUSB0 --zeus-chips 128 --zeus-clock 300 --scan-serial /dev/ttyUSB1 --zeus-chips 128 --zeus-clock 328 --zeus-nocheck-golden (thats for two, just check which USB slot it is after you googled and installed the zeus usb drivers for windows) For Minera similar but you dont have to specify usb slot you can just use scan auto, i think. --scrypt --scan-serial zeus:auto --zeus-chips 128 --zeus-clock 328 Anyways thats what i have left over in old txt files but those miners are obsolete by far and even on free electricity i got rid of them for silent much less obsolete miners like S1/S3(at the time 1 year ago) and now i guess i'd go for silent modded S5's.

Does anybody know if the RX480 will be supported by Ethos?
Of course it will be. Fine tuning will be done as soon as we can gather the data on the new GPUs. i now have 3 rx480 and want to use it on ethos 1.0.6 but it is recognized as "Device 67df (rev c7)" and not showing up within the ethminer ... when will there be a patch? brgds Mcc Soon™. I can say its being worked on and if you come by IRC you may be able to get some more information on the progress.

Actually, the guys from Bitbank say that they have it and also showed some pictures when I met one of them. However, can't find them online... They claim that they made a burn-in and they were responsible for the recent spice in the hash-rate. So if they are bullshitting, then Bitbank may be a fraud, too.... which I, frankly, do not exclude atmb.
They probably lied to you. As far as I am concerned Bitmain is the ONLY Asic chip manufacture ATM. As far as you are concerned, maybe. But as far as reality and every other people are concerned, it is not at all. If anything Bitmain seem more stingy about selling their chips than said others.

I want to build an outside bitcoin mining box that will have a roof and vents for Antminer s7, but will condensation be a problem? what about in the winter will it be too cold for it? I live in Canada. In the summer would it be too hot? Rain won't be the issue I will come up with a pretty good box design. What if it shuts down for what ever reason will it be okay?
Hi. I don't see any reason you can't run something that has fresh airflow from outside but just leaving the miners without cover would be a bad idea. You don't want them to suck in actual water. I'm in the Pacific Northwest and I've been running miners for 2 years in my 'garden shed'. I took out the wall on the exhaust side and put in screen. I leave the door slightly open and the space under the rake edge of the roof as well. It's in a sheltered placed so the wind can't blow in rain and snow. If I were to build a minimal BTC-Hive tm it would be: roof-line->1 ft -> screen -> 2 ft -> intake of rack or shelf with miners -> exhaust of miners -> 1 ft -> screen -> 1 ft -> roof line. I.e. you could put about 24 miners in a 6 ft x 6 ft (2m x 2m) configuration. But I would certainly make sure the roof of whatever miner-house you build extends past each wall by at least a foot. If it's in the wind, then 2 ft on the prevailing wind side at least. Indeed. At one point i've had the miners suck in -20C air, and i'd done various setup of pull, push during winter. It is very humid here and maybe i just got lucky, but really i never had any problem, corrosion or otherwise. Once there was a storm and some snow went through the miners. I quickly fixed that but it turned out okay. So as long as you dont do like me, i dont think there would be any problem long term. Specially with a purpose built box. It should be able to keep itself warm enough as needed. A lot of Electronics has specified rated "running temperature" but i don't actually know if there would be a problem if it reached very low temps. Maybe minus 0 would be a problem, if the electronic itself reached that.

It takes a long time to sync it initially. At 1 day per week, it would take you months to sync it in the first place That is, if you ever catch up. You wouldn't really be running a full node anyways. It's probably best if you do not bother with full verification.

I rebooted my S5 like I always do once per week and got this: What is going on and how do I fix it? Thanks! Did you power cycle? Did you check the connectors, did you replug all controller related things? Is the PSU ok? Etc, etc. One board is down atm. I did everything above. One board is shot. I am going to wait until more S9s are available. I more than doubled my investment on this so can't complain. Maybe ask Sidehack if he wants the dead board to strip the ASIC's to be used in his Compacs? He did not seem all that interested in getting the dead board i have that he technically own. If he still does strip on those old chips, that'd be a good use for it.

It is possible to talk to a pool operator.. I think Kano has done this in the past. You'd think there would be a "bribe a pool" service by now. I think there is an actual wallet with a feature to add a fee to be collected if a targeted TX is included.
Post in Kano's tread, maybe. If not hopefully someone can link you the guide.

Newegg just dropped prices on these to $205/$230 (USD/CAD) as they did before. I guess its a better deal if you are Canadian.
I've been watching prices pretty closely, i dont think they understand which card sell well, at what price and why.
